Wellington vs Otago ~ Athletic Park .... JW was the difference in Otago winning that day.
Such a significant impact on the game.
I had an increased appreciation of him as a player that day.
So much more is apparent watching a game live compared to watching it on TV.
Reminds me of Michael Jones' huge performance for Auckland against the Lions at the same ground.

Wish he stuck with cricket, hopefully teenagers today chose cricket over rugby now that you can make the big dollars playing cricket. No one cares about Rugby outside of NZ and perhaps South Africa. I remember when I was living in Edinburgh when the All Blacks were playing, I had no idea they were even playing until I saw some fans in All Black tops, it just isn't that important outside NZ. Even Australia it is below Cricket, Aussie Rules, League and Soccer.
