Paul, the areas (the 2 corners) where you saw the scratches, that's where you need to apply a little oil resistant sealant (e.g. ELRING Dirko Ht). The reason the scratches are there is because someone has removed the sealant there in the past. You do not have to apply sealant all around, if you have it cleaned and torque the bolts evenly (from the inside to the outside, first 4Nm and subsequently the final 7,8Nm) it won't leak. Keep on making these video's, I love to see them (if help is needed, just ask). Frank By the way, the rubber grommets are they still present in the engine cover, I didn't see them ....
JF.
Great video ,I have the Punto hgt with this engine ,been there done that , just watch out you may need to replace the spark plugs gaskets soon ,could have changed while you had the cover off. Great instruction anyway .
Hi thanks for your comments. Glad you enjoyed the video! I did the spark gaskets as well. The old ones seemed ok but they came as part of the kit so did them as well.
@@pauliecabs That's what I'm thinking. I watched the guy doing it and he just eye tightened it with an air gun instead of a torque wrench. Thanks for your suggestion

Hmmm... looks like a great way to get a look at the timing belt too. I just bought my Barchetta and have been wondering if I need to replace it.
I'll be replacing mine at some point. Not sure when exactly but I don't want to leave it too long!

Does it smoke sometime?? My Fiat Coupe 20v turbo just got a bit of a leak and smoke coming from under neath
Wow, nice car. I've never had a problem with smoke. Is it the leaked oil burning off?
Just had my own gasket replaced yesterday and today it's spraying oil on the top where the fuel injectors are...
Oh no! Maybe it wasn't done up tightly enough??

@@georgeboultadakis2215 not sure what the torque setting is but you have to be careful not to overtighten as it will crack the cover. Good luck
Great video. Where did you get the gasket from and how much was it? Cheers, Morgan
Thanks! Got mine from Amazon 18 euros
