NIghtmare! Daughter's Skoda Citigo / VW UP letting in rain water carpet soaked + Peugeot 107 service
The Skoda Citigo (VW UP!) keeps getting wet inside. Is it a leaking roof? Or a hole in the floor? How is the rain water getting in? In this video the mystery is solved!
Also in this episode, finally got round to doing the mini service on the Peugeot 107.

Il materiale adesivo per insonorizzare dove lo posso comprare?
I got them from amazon Spain "Placas insonorizantes". They add weight to the hard top but it helps with wind noise
Amazing, thank you! I heard sloshing water in the last couple of days and a damp smell started. Checked the footwells and driver (and rear passenger footwell) were soaked. Has been raining loads here. Yours is the first video I saw - I went out to check and the chamber was completely blocked on both sides. A considerable amount of water came out. I can’t vac it up just yet as it’s night and pouring down (UK). Also hoping that this is the fix and not some other cause but time will tell. Thank you again!
So glad you found the video useful. We couldn't believe how much water got into the car!! It's a very bad design fault.
Thanks for the video, it was really helpful.
Thanks! For a small tear it's an easy way to do the repair. I'm amazed how long it has lasted. It's still perfectly ok now.
The old Steering Wheel is back! Glad you finally apreciate the style it was meant to have :-D
Yes! lol but I love both of them. It's hard to describe but the wooden steering is more than just the look. The car takes on a whole new feel when driving with it.
@ i got an old Fiat 600 with a hard steering wheel and i know what you mean. But honestly the barchettas steering wheel really fits the car nicely
Hey Paul, mine failed the emission once because of a bad injector. It was an easy fix and make sure to drive her regularly as i think mine always gets upset for not being driven and starts minor problems.
I think mine's the same. I'm going to at least start it up every few days!
So another year enjoying the Barchetta👍🏻 see you put the original steeringwheel back, is it just for the tests?
Yes, I think most testers would spot it so don't want to risk. Will put it back on at some point aa it does feel great to drive the car when it's on
Its my fear every year, if i dont Drive 10/20 klm before , t fais 😂😂
In 2027 I might try for historic status then it won't matter!
Did you also have problems (or the staff) to hold the rev in this particular area (around 3000) mine always went higher and the test failed. Took us about 10minutes to finally do it.
Normally yes, they are there for ages trying to get the right reading but this time it was quick. Maybe the fresh fuel and the hours drive before helped.
I’m not 100% positive but by looking at the shoddy build quality of those houses in the background, this can only be Andalucia or Malaga 😂😂😂😂
The test centre is in the middle of an industrial estate no houses nearby.
Bien hecho ! As you know my Barchetta struggled for a couple of years then failed and never got through after 4 or 5 attempts. So I sold it, but new owner didn't seem to worry about this problem 😂
Thanks. Yes I remember. Last year was a nightmare so this year I filled it up with 98 then drove for an hour and it was fine. Very surprised!
I tried that aswell, going onto the AP7, ripping it down to Benidorm then back up to Calpe before going to the itv, but for me it didn't work !
It has been way too long since we heard of you😉did the barchetta drive as well as you expected?
Better than I expected. A bit chuggy going up some steep hills but I think that's just old fuel.
Wow amaaaazing 😍😍😍
Thank you!!!
ABS 2SI concerne les toutes premières barchetta, il n'y a que la valise FIAT do'rigine... que je possède!
Thanks for you comment but it does not translate correctly and I don't speak French. Sorry
Thank you - I'm going to attempt my leather car seats - they're in worse condition, however I will do a wee bit at a time for all the repairs, and then paint the whole seat afterwards :-)
Fantastic. Remember you can also change the colour of the leather which might be another video at some point. Good luck
It's uuuuuugly 😂
Yes, could be better. AI needs to try harder!
Hello, thank you for the video, it's great. What is the oil grade you are using ? and also, I cans see that you didn't put back the same oil filter reference. Bosh instead of Purflux. Could you tell us more ? Thank you.
Hi glad you enjoyed the video. The oil is 10W40 Selenia 20K. The oil filter is the Bosch P3300. Hope that helps!
don´t like it, looks too bulky
I think it's all in the prompt. I wasn't too specific about body shape. Might try a different creator and see if the results are any different.
barchetta, Not Punto
Yes!
Thank you for this video, it was really helpful! Although… I’ve now cleared the codes, the warning light is off, but I then drove it in a 70mph road and it still had acceleration issues. I’ve left it to “rest” before I try driving it again later, but it’s a little strange I have no warning lights at all but it’s still struggling…
Thanks. Glad you found it useful. I'm no expert but maybe check the whole air intake system and make sure there are no splits or damage to any of the pipes
@@pauliecabs I went back to the car about 30 mins ago and the warning light was back. I’ve cleaned the sensor again and left it instead of driving it, and I’ll check again in the morning. But thanks, I will try that if it’s not fixed
@@WDKYBand did you change the air filter?
@@pauliecabs I did that first before seeing your video. Changing the filter changed the error code, which is why I started google-ing the MAF sensor and found your video
This exact thing happened to my car, the area under the cowl , at the base of the windscreen apparently has a tendency to get clogged with debris and leaves in these cars, hence the rain water draining off the windscreen has nowhere to go except into the cabin of the car via the car via the air con ducts which are in the footwells. I didnt bother with a vacuum cleaner, I simply replaced the entire carpet plus the underlay and im glad i did because when I removed the underlay the amount of water I found was the equivalent of about a litre or two. As much as you vacuum the carpet you'll never get all the water out from the underlay, which Im convinced would lead to a permanent damp smell. Hope it worked out for you.
It's crazy that it floods the whole car. We're in the south of Spain so luckily with the high temperatures and the vacuuming it did dry out in the end.
Hi Paul, Thanks for the great video’s étc, do know where the heater blower resistor is located the barchetta please? Cheers dude and keep up the good work étc 👍😃
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy them! There's this on the fiat forum which might help www.fiatforum.com/threads/fan-relay.492472/
@@pauliecabs Cheers paul, have a good one étc 👍 Curt 👍😃
IN THE 80S ALL THE HIGH END SPORTS CARS AND FAMILY CARS HAD BURL WOOD INTERIOR ACCENT TRIM. I LOVE IT!!!! IT BRINGS NATURE TO THE INSIDE OF THE CAR.
Thanks! I know it's not to everyone's taste but wanted to try and do something to break up the black plastic.
THANK YOU SO MUCH. A TOTALLY AWSOME UPGRADE!!!!
A bit fiddly at times but turned out ok!
if your pants are wet, (jogger, go the the beach, work all day and drive your truck home with wet paints) your seat will crack form the hot sun. get a seat cover and that wont happen. save you lots of money.
Yes, good tip
Yeah, you've made it seem impossible yourself by not including an iota of information
Full 25 minute video on the channel ruclips.net/video/8z3inNQYkhM/видео.html
Looks awesome. Im wanting to do some interieur trims on my car, how is the wrap holding up adter the years?
Still there! I made sure to use 3M. The difficult bit is around the heater controls . I didn't know at the time but you can get new stickers for the heater controls if you cover them.
Im Planing to do the trim pieces of my dash. Have a tan leather Interieur with Black dash and inbetween is a small trim in plain silver. The woodgrain will look more like "grandpa lexus" than the silver but i like the color. Found the 3m foil you used. Good product is necessary with all the different forms and shapes
Would love to see the results. Send me a pic on instagram
Im an "old 30 year old" person, i dont have instagram, tiktok ore social media. Just youtube and facebook for a few car groups@@pauliecabs
Beautiful work! And extremely informative.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful
What did u spray?
Maguiars convertible top cleaner. Check out the longer video on the channel. It works really well.
Hi, could you tell me where you souschef the small buttons? Also what material did you choose for the headliner kit? Im about to undertaken the same job and your video is really useful.
Hi, the headliner was bought from amazon. It was a kit that included the glue. There was 2m of material included. The small buttons were called KIMISS 50. I couldn't find any grey ones so I painted these. All this is from amazon spain. I don't think the kit is available anymore but the buttons as still there. Hope that helps.
Simple advice…before draining any fluid, make sure you can remove the entry plug….you never know.
Brilliant advice. Yes, you never know!
Thanks so much for this! I have just discovered a tear in just the same place on my 300SL driver's seat, so very encouraging to see how I can fix it myself!
So glad to hear you've found it useful. It's not hard to do and incredibly satisfying when you see the results. Give it a try!

Hey Paulie, did you finally get a new bumper? I'm repairing mine but it's very fragile and it'll probably break again soon as the plastic material it's made of is crap.
Yes I did and it's original not fibreglass. Had it for ages and not done anything with it but will be featuring it in the next video
Hi, have you made any videos on the misfire engines on the Barchetta? I was driving mine last week for a few miles, and it came across a misfire😢
Hi, I've done one on cleaning the MAF sensor but not specifically on misfiring. I had a quick look on the Fiat forum and and someone said if it happens when you lift off the accelerator it could be the throttle body needs cleaning. Hope that helps
Can u make a video on how to wrap interior peices with edges like that?
What kind of edges?
Oh...ja das ist gut, schade das Fiat da nicht dran dachte
Thanks. I know, I don't know how else to get in if the cable stops working
This helped me alot while using my kit. These kits don’t come with really good instructions… & they leave out tons of details… that you went over in this video. Appreciate this 😎👍🏾
I'm really glad you found it useful. Thanks!
Hi! Nice videos? Do you still have it? I had one and got it perfect.. then sold it... I regret it and I'm thinking of buying another. You're getting me interested again. They're great fun and a good future investment (to convince the wife..). Richard
Hi yes, still have it. Will be making more videos again very soon. They are still quite reasonably priced but it's getting harder to pass the emissions test each year. Can't apply for historic status on mine until it's 30 years old which would get around that.
@@pauliecabs Ah happy you still have it! It's a little easier here in Italy. Historic status is after 20 years. I have an Alfa Brera now but that is staying for sure. If I do get one be sure to drive down in yours. I'm in north Italy, 30 mins from Turin. Look forward to your new videos!
Frustrating to change an ABS unit for no reason, but been there many a time too. Do you still have the old ABS unit. If so, I'd be interested in buying the ECU module from it.
The rear brakes were an absolute nightmare! I wish I'd thought to do the pressure test at the start but that's experience for you. I still have the old one but I'm going to hang to it just in case. You could try barchettaparts.com
Adattatore. Al. 5.15 minuti. ? Kkl ? Come si chiama?
Ho aggiunto per te i collegamenti per i cavi nella descrizione del video.
Ciao. Come. Si chiama L adattatore grande ? 😊
Ciao. Che adattatore intendi? Dimmi a che punto del video si trova e controllerò. Oppure mandami una email.
Hey Paul I have a 5 series and I love wood interiors so much better than bring black or silver I’m thinking of doing this also as it’s a lot cheaper than buying a wood interior. Have you ever considered hydro dipping? Also how is the interior holding up with this wrapping on is it all still ok?
Yes it's still ok. The difficult bit was around the heater controls. I've seen some rings on ebay which fit over the controls and might help with the finish
People wrap their trim to get rid of wood and you put wood on the trim. Lol
I know lol. Too much dull black plastic! Might try painting or a hydro dip next
Run into the same problem. I did wet sanding up to 2000 and polished after. I used a restoration kit and it promised btter result, but noow I cannot get rid off that misty fog. Any advise without using varnish?
Sorry not an expert on this. It was the first time I'd done it. You could go up to 3000 and polish again. What don't you want to use varnish?
@@pauliecabs not against the varnish but I was wondering I made mistakes during the polishing? And how is the durability of the varnish layers? Is it last if not exposed too much of sunlight?
@@szabohunor91 just make sure you are thorough with each grade of sanding. Use 2k varnish for a more durable finish
I also have a 97 and can not get it to connect... I'm about to pull my hair out!
Have you tried multiecuscan.net for help?
Only fault they didnt fit the 5cylinder
Yes, that's true. Or an Abarth version.
As a engineer i would feed it through the return spring hole.... But i looks like it is possible to make a small bracket to a solenoid so you could make a electric boot release as. Backup
That's a good idea. Might be something for a future episode!
The nut that is holding the light broke on my citigo do I need to replace the whole light as well? When I order a new one from autodoc does it only come with this front part or also the inner part?
Not sure which bit you mean that is broken. Email me a pic if you like. The part that holds the light bulbs is separate to the tail part that I replaced
Had the same. Was cheaper to get the whole thing. Now have a spare bit for the bulbs lol
BARCHETTA I LOVE YOU!!!MX5 OF ITALY
Oh yes!
A garage would probably charge 175 pounds for the "repair".
For sure! There's so much people can do themselves and save a bit of money.
