Paulie, well done! I've always wanted to obtain the original Fiat barchetta dashboard wood accessory but couldn't find one for my airco version. Now I've seen your upgrade and consider to either do it like you have done: vinyl wrap it, or (if not to expensive) use the water transfer methode. 1 Question: looking back, is there anything you would have done differently? Frank
I couldn't find the original wooden console so tried this. I thought about hydro dipping as well but decided to go for the wrap. If I did it again, I would start the wrap on the second part of the console from the top first where the clock etc is. Also, make sure the is thoroughly wiped clean first and be patient!
The most difficult part was working around the heater dials as I didn't want to damage the decals. I've since found out you can get them from barchettaparts!
Yes the gearknob did get turned around eventually! Wasn't sure what to do around the heating controls didn't want to damage the stickers/decals but since discovered you can get replacement decals!
Thanks for the video. Looking for a wooden interior myself. I just can't bring myself to pay the outrageous price for a pre-cut kits. $200 for stickers, oi.
I looked for original FIat part as well just couldn't find one. I think the wood helps to break up the black plastic. You could try painting it with a rattle can to match the body colour??
@@pauliecabs my issue as well. Honda Legend/Acura rl, I was trying to track down oem wood interior trim. When I find it, it's a crazy amount of money. Even oem wood shift knobs at $100+USD! Not to mention the absolutely crazy price for the wood steering wheels.
Hey Paul I have a 5 series and I love wood interiors so much better than bring black or silver I’m thinking of doing this also as it’s a lot cheaper than buying a wood interior. Have you ever considered hydro dipping? Also how is the interior holding up with this wrapping on is it all still ok?
Yes it's still ok. The difficult bit was around the heater controls. I've seen some rings on ebay which fit over the controls and might help with the finish
Not sure. I suppose it could be!? It needs to come off again anyway as I need to fit a retainer for the gaiter/boot. Yes, not many people doing stuff with the B on RUclips. I hope people find the videos useful and entertaining!
Still there! I made sure to use 3M. The difficult bit is around the heater controls . I didn't know at the time but you can get new stickers for the heater controls if you cover them.
Im Planing to do the trim pieces of my dash. Have a tan leather Interieur with Black dash and inbetween is a small trim in plain silver. The woodgrain will look more like "grandpa lexus" than the silver but i like the color. Found the 3m foil you used. Good product is necessary with all the different forms and shapes
I found when using the high gloss vinyl wrap that the gloss finish was not uniform enough for me. I sprayed 7 coats of polyurethane, sanding between coats to achieve a smooth gloss finish.

Beautiful work! And extremely informative.
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and found it useful
Looks great! I've been curious to see this done with care and quality!
Thanks. Wasn't sure how it would turn out. That's one of the reasons I used 3M. Might try hydro dipping next!
Not as bad as I thought.. good job!!
Thanks 😀
I love it! Do you where I can find the wood interior for my Chrysler Aspen suv?
Thanks! I got mine from eBay. Luckily it came in different lengths which is good as it can be quite expensive.
I like it. I may take a shot at doing it myself sometime in the future.

Ciao....it looks good well done!to be honest I wouldn't have done it on mine. Looking forward to see the steering wheel done😉
Thanks. I've had the steering wheel sitting around for ages. Can't wait to get it on the car!
The area around the AC knobs looks a bit naff, and the gearknob is on the wrong way, but at least it looks pretty easy for most people

Hi, great work, not for me, but you've done a really good job on that
Thanks😀

i might be wrong but is the gear knob 180 degress out? Good job though, you're the only B owner that does this type of stuff.

I agree, gear knob needs turning 180 !!
@@pauliecabs I just bought my barchetta 2 weeks ago, I this videos has been very helpfull. Thanks!!!

That's a good tip. Didn't realise you could spray over it
@@pauliecabs According to my research, polyurethane will stick to vinyl. Just test it on a small off cut to make sure it works for you.
3M is the most expensive vinyl.
3M also = 33
Yes, probably but don't know about the quality of other brands
Pls attach Wrap link
I bought the wrap from eBay but I don't think it's on there any more. It's 3M DI-NOC WG-364GN. Hope that helps.
People wrap their trim to get rid of wood and you put wood on the trim. Lol
I know lol. Too much dull black plastic! Might try painting or a hydro dip next
Well done but its look horrible
Thanks. Tried to do something with all that black plastic! Might try a different effect next time or maybe paint
@@pauliecabs it looks great! Don’t believe that comment. To each his own.
Thanks ❤ @@johkaTV
