hey ! I already posted this on another video but I figured out you're more likely to see this here XD ! the eco mode disconnects completely the front motors from the wheels via a sort of clutch, to be exactly like the rwd version. In the normal mode, it's the same but the motor is only used when accelerating hard. in sport mode it's always connected. though, the regen braking works in a way that it turns the lotors into generators and the objective of ipedal is to give you the most regen braking, and the more motors, the more braking. that means that in ipedal, no matter the drive mode, both motors are constantly connected, so if you want to be very efficient on the highway, don't use ipedal, every other regen modes are okay tho ! also, great content like always !!
I’ve seen these more on the road and the more I see them the more I love them. They just have a really interesting presence especially with that light bar and the front amber DRLs when it get a little darker. They look menacing sometimes and it’s fun to see that not everyone is going to do EV hatches or SUVs. There is still a sedan market and EVs are perfect for them
I absolutely agree with you. I also keep seeing it on the road and indeed, it does have a menacing and strong presence. It is definitely cool and interesting to look at, and judging from the video, also is very spacious inside. Regarding hatchbacks and SUVs, I was always a fan of sedans, and especially estate cars, and this craze with ''SUVs'' (not quite because most of the advertised as SUVs are in actuality, hatchbacks raised) really makes me sad because now every company offers the same designs and cars just to appeal to the market. Take VW as an example. The only crossover that differs design-wise from the others is the VW Touareg and maybe Tiguan. The T-Cross, Taigo and T-Roc almost look identical to me.
I drive an Ioniq 5 in SE Michigan and am tempted to switch to this next summer when my existing lease is up. I just love that design language. Also, props for defending EVs around the 9:55 mark - all great points!
Been in and out of this recently, and it is even cooler in person. I just love the design so much! Also, way bigger than i thought it would be, i would like sedan or hatchback Ioniq but smaller than the 5 and 6.
Plug in EVs are here to stay, even though manufacturers got a little overeager in production increases. Will see steady growth and improvement for the next few decades!
They didn't get eager. The market suddenly softened so they paused some plans. It was projected that growth would be explosive. But it's been a steady climb despite soft sales.
@@xaionikthat's really what I was saying: They misjudged how fast things would grow. EVs still growing very fast in overall numbers, just not as fast from a % standpoint as before.
@@xaionik Market softened due to rising interest rates, which applies to ICE as well. Nothing to do with lack of EV demand relatively speaking. Trend is upwards overall.
they really need to address the lack of wireless android auto and apple carplay. wired systems get old in a hurry once you experienced the wireless variety.
The interior door card is drop-dead gorgeous. I can't get over it. And the way it cuts into itself at knee area for both design and space (and speakers!).
I daily an Ioniq 5 SEL and it's been a real pleasure. Like this 6 it's been comfortable, quiet, efficient and fun to drive. I did upgrade my front speakers to a JL Audio component set and that really solved the one major gripe that I had with the car. Thanks for the POV review, Topher.
I love the funkiness of this car. Looks so cool. I keep seeing it on the road and it looks so funky and fun to drive. The trunk is a little small I think, but the interior design and space is phenomenal, for it's class. I can just hope that huyndai in the future iterations of this car, they make the 6N and give it the N Mode of the ioniq 5 with the fake engine sound and feel. The ioniq 5 has seriously been living in my mind rent free for the past few weeks, since it seems like an extremely fun car . Also as many already said, its design reminds me of the old 911 turbo, and I love it for that. Search up 911 turbo 1979 and it is absolutely identical, albeit the ioniq 6 is longer and 4 door.
Absolutely love this car, I daily drive the SEL RWD in the same color! I have a bit of an issue where I get bored of cars pretty quickly and will usually buy a new one within 4 to 6 months. That issue seems to have gone away earlier this year, it feels pretty unique to drive around and is fun compared to the other cars I've driven. I've been happy with it and I'm sure my wife has been happy that I haven't had the urge to buy another new car lol
That is definitely a unique looking vehicle. I can't say it's ugly or bad, but certainly not the most beautiful thing either. I applaud Hyundai for doing something different and not just blending in like every other car or SUV.
@@dark6c159 oh I'm well aware of the issues EV's have. I do not like them and don't believe they're the future of automobiles. I was speaking purely about the styling of the car.
Fantastic review production quality was fantastic and no dumb intros or anything of the sort. Also nice radio voice. Gosh i cannot wait until i buy one of these cars in white hopefully with a NACS built in.
Wonderful job, as always. Question: do you think the wireless charging wasn't cooperating because you had your phone plugged in? Having both going at the same time gives me anxiety about overheating the phone, but I have evidence to support that theory.
It's just baffling how they choose to kill the range with those 20 inch wheels. I know people like it but damn, it cuts nearly 56 miles of range just for aesthetics compared to the 18 inches, not a great trade off imo. It's frustrating especially because I want everything in the luxury package EXCEPT those wheels
@darrylbradley5426 H/K/G underrates the range of their EVs. If I were getting the I6, I will get the SE RWD Long Rang to get that near Lucid-like range.
in korea theres a big issue about this ioniq 6s build quality. front hood to be specific. apparently water will get into the interior through the air filter if u take this into auto car wash. maybe its fixed? dunno
Recently got a LR RWD on a lease. Coming from a Model 3 i am a bit conflicted. I still prefer Tesla UI and ease of use but the Ioniq is sooo much comfortable and quiet (even with the 20s)
Its really nice but I just couldn't be convinced to buy an EV at this point, my 3 biggest problems with EVs, first of all the prices are outrageous, almost 60k for a midsize Hyundai sedan, yeah, no way. Second is the range only 270mi, I still get almost 400mi out of a tank in my 2017 Lexus GX, with a 4.6L V8. Lastly is the charging situation, where I live I don't have a place in my garage to install a charger, and I couldn't deal with the hours it would take for an EV to fully charge, when I can just take my GX to a gas station and fill up in 5 minutes. And dont take this as me hating on electric cars, cause im not. All that im saying is that there are still major flaws with these EVs that is preventing most people from buying them.
Completely agree with you. We're probably still another 10 years until the full support is there. For those who live in apartments, the idea of having to wait an hour to charge the car in a random spot is not ideal. And I keep hearing most stations suck!
Funny that the Top of the line XC40/C40 electric is the same price as the top of the line Ioniq 6 in my country. Both costing 72k USD. Wonder what is your opnion or comparison between the two. I know the size and the catagory don't really match up.
The key fob on many new kia/genesis/hyundai has a button to automatically inch the car forward or backwards, in case someone parks too close for you to easily get in. It's a neat party trick but of little real value/use outside of specific use cases
I feel like your EV reviews are very different from your ICE reviews and provide much less comparison between relevant cars (both EV and ICE) and fewer objective opinions, particularly on handling. They always spend so much time talking about how different these cars are from ICE, but then the entirety of the analysis of the handling is that it "handles well." But the model 3 "handles well" and the Taycan "handles well" and from these reviews I don't feel like I get a real sense of how these cars differ in driving feel/engagement. I'd love for you to incorporate more of that type of analysis into you EV videos!
Was quite impressed by this, the Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6, but I felt that all had terrible stereo systems (even the higher trim ones). The higher trim systems in the Mach E and the Polestar 2 are so much better.
Man they are due for a logo change. Car is incredible but the logo ehhhh. Same with the Kia K5. Amazing car but terrible old logo. new logo looks icnredible
Intriguing car, but plagued with the typical EV issues of weight and price. Getting close to 5,000lbs and $57,000. Sorry that price isn't going to cut it. Nice car, but $30k more expensive than a Camry Hybrid, that's terrible from a value perspective and difficult to justify. Just my opinion but EVs aren't going to live up to their promise until the next generations of battery technology can be introduced and scaled. Once we can move away from high levels of lithium as the main material, it'll be a bright future for EVs.
STAY AWAY FROM HYUNDAI!!! The high voltage battery in my 2017 Sonata PHEV died under warranty when the car was only four years old with 42,000 miles. Hyundai refused to repair or replace the battery under warranty. I had to go through non lemon law arbitration to have the vehicle repurchased, which I won easily. However, Hyundai then decided to miscalculate the repurchase amount and attempted to underpay me by $2000.00. This forced me to go through arbitration a second time, which I won (again). The whole process took 18 months…No loaner. If you own a Hyundai…Sell that piece of crap while you can…
