      Russia used them in Ukraine and Putin didnt even mention that he was using them to attack Ukraine.
      In fact he denied even getting them.
      In fact they kept denying it so long and now just don't talk about how they lied.
      Same with how Putin denied all plans to invade Ukraine, even days before the invasion.
      When Putin talks about Peace he talks about changing borders.
      Normally when you talk about peace borders go back to where they were before the start of the conflict.
      Look at Isreal-palestine. When we talk about peace its always under the assumption that Israel leaves Gaza, not that they kept what they control.

    I live in La Réunion and I obviously follow the geopolitics in the region. I'm stunned by the accuracy of your analysis. Just one big mistake about New Caledonia : the law that ignite current troubles is not meant to allow a new category of people to vote in the future referendums about independence, but in local elections.

    • @BoyBoyhaere50
      @BoyBoyhaere50 20 дней назад

      "By profoundly modifying the electorate without reaching a local political consensus, the reform would reverse a key element of the 1998 Nouméa Accord, which has guaranteed civil peace for more than 25 years and made possible a process of decolonization.
      Some New Caledonians fear the proposed change - which now requires ratification by a two-thirds majority of the Congress of Versailles - would dilute the share of the vote held by the Kanak people." ref. The Diplomat. More than just what is in your comment.

    • @user-vu1gt7or4f
      @user-vu1gt7or4f 19 дней назад +3

      @@BoyBoyhaere50 The reform was drafted in first place by a local Congress. There WAS a local political consensus that a reform of the electorate on local elections was necessary, even amongst the independentist parties. But I guess our wonderful government acted with his usual amazing mix of despise and incompetence. And of course, there are all the mysterious gun providers as explained in this video. Maybe they have friends amongst the Diplomat's journalists as well (I'm joking, I don't know anything about this paper...).
      Nouméa Accords stated that the electorate was "frozen" to include only Kanakys or people who lived here in 1998. All these specific rules only apply to local elections and the 3 self-determination referendums , for national matters people from NC are French like any others. Now that the referendums are behind, the idea was that any person who has been living ans paying taxes in NC for 10 years is entitled to vote. It probably "dilutes the share of the vote" of the Kanakys, since now they will only have the same voting rights than any other citizen (which includes people from all over the world like said in this video). Since most of the non-Kanakys are not independentists, I understand that those in favour of independance "fear" this reform and those who are loyalists don't, no matter which community they are from. But as I said in the beginning, everybody even the independentists agreed this unfair "frozen electorate" had to be changed.

They would say, "Dear friend, help me."(Cher ami, aidez-moi) And that's why they were called "sharomyzhniki". Nowadays, in Russian, "sharomyzhhnik" means "beggar-beggar. Are we waiting for more sharomyzhniki?

      Not necessarily lol. Reminds me of the first few days of the invasion into Ukraine, and how so many were screaming "WW3!". War is complicated nowadays, mainly due to the shortage of young people. Historically, the young male was the ideal soldier, young enough to be naive, but full of energy and endurance. But they're in a shortage nowadays, that's why the mobilization law in Ukraine was 27 y/o for so long, and now 25 (the average soldier currently fighting is 40+ y/o male). War would escalate a big demographic problem into a pure demographic catastrophe. Also, the values changed over time, and we can see that many Ukrainians don't take too kindly to being mobilized anymore, with so many fleeing Ukraine, bribing their way out, and questioning the new changed narrative of the 21th century - get mobilized while women can freely leave Ukraine and get a free German apartment from the German government and lots of money from it, some of them cheating on their "loved ones", their reward for their patriotism,,,, rich oligarch sons partying in expensive clubs in Europe, and you're supposed to get kidnapped on the street and tortured into cheap cannon fodder? Not anymore, time for system changes. Anyways, these reasons make countries really anxious about getting themselves involved in wars, especially ww3.

    HL, you are wrong about Russia "forgetting" Normandie-Niemen unit. Russia even invited that unit to Red Square Victory Day Parade in 2010. We remember all too well the deeds of those Europeans who fought bravely against Nazis. It's just that modern day Europe keeps forgetting them in favour of Bandera-Shuhevich and Nazi collaborators in Canadian parliament.

    A very interesting story is how the French regiment Normandy Neman received all military equipment as a gift. In 1945, Charles De Gaulle called Stalin and complained that Great Britain, despite allied relations, was taking away French colonies in Syria and Lebanon, and France did not have combat troops to defend its colonies. After that, Stalin offered to transfer the Normandy Neman regiment to France entirely, with aircraft and all support equipment.

      "They don't speak French well", is a sweeping statement.
      when you are surrounded by a French-speaking society, and French-speaking in the legion is mandatory. all recruits have to try to learn it during their basic training course, and their whole time in the legion.
      you live, work and breathe in French. they practice the Képi Blanc method. repetition, incentive (i.e.punishment and promotion) and immersion.
      you are saying after roughly a few years when you are finally ready to enter major sustained international operations, have to try to learn France every day, are surrounded by French, can only use French in the legion, and you only learn a few words? unlikely.
      I doubt you can pass to the major international operations stage if you haven't learned properly to battle communicate in French. they aren't in a hurry to send boys to war with a week of training.
      protip for the russians: it is very easy to identify a legionnaire: they have their own recognizable dialect that differs from a normal french person. légionnaires don't end up speaking pure French but rather a dialect all of their own, with phrases, expressions, pronunciation and accents that might be incomprehensible to a native French person.
      they will have a range of foreign accents. it’s a military unit; they will speak a lot of military slang; and they won’t speak “ educated” French . they speak so called street French. it is more direct and less flowery.
      this also means that they captures french legionnaire volunteer, not native army french officer instructor.
      -
      ‘We use a lot of words that come from all different languages mixed together and used as expressions that don't exist in France. E.g. We say “boule de fer” (ball of fire). French people don't use that at all, but for us, it means something's really cool, or we had a great time.”
      Luciano points out that he haphazardly studied Afrikaans for ten years in South Africa and never got to a conversational level. But in the Legion, he could have a decent conversation after four months.
      “The method that's tried and proven in the French Foreign Legion is they force you to speak French all the time, and that's honestly what works.”
      After his basic training, Luciano became a combat medic and did multiple courses that required a good level of French.""

Then invaded again 8 years later. But he never stopped attacking Unrain from 2014 and around 10,000 UAF died total then, while not openly at war. Russia just shelled them across the border. Salute, I served in the 187th Guards Assault Aviation Regiment “Normandie-Niemen”, which is still part of the Russian Armed Forces, at our base there is a memorial to the heroes of the Second World War, among whom there are a lot of frenchmen. It is very sad to see that only we honor the memory of our common struggle... P.S. By the way, Major Roman Filipov, who died heroically in Syria, served in the same regiment. (I hope the translation is correct)

      Yes, invite the Germans to the anniversary of the landing in Normandy and not invite Russia... How many years later will we find out that the allies of the USA, Great Britain and Germany together tried to stop the USSR so that it would not capture Europe.

    I can say with complete confidence that during the Cold War, the cult of French culture, cinema, fashion, and a positive friendly attitude towards the people of France was implanted in the Soviet Union. Cinemas showed new French films weekly, which were visited by tens of millions of Soviet people. Many knew every word in these films, the names of every French actor. The role of the French resistance in World War II was constantly emphasized in schools and their heroism was celebrated. For decades, I have never heard from a single Russian even anything negative about France and its people. To be honest, after the war in the USSR, friendship was also promoted even with the Germans, Italians, and Japanese. All teaching in schools was aimed at suppressing any hatred based on nationality. However, I can say that Russians have an extremely negative and hateful attitude towards only to those who begin to show hostility towards them.

    • @Lloidestratis
      @Lloidestratis 21 день назад +27

      I can say the same about friendship with the Poles, Bulgarians, Spaniards, Greeks, Hungarians, and Czechs. Sympathy was even instilled in the American people. Any manifestation of nationalism was diligently suppressed. No nation in the world was accused of any past actions in the Soviet Union. The blame for past wars was shifted to the departed governments of these countries. All Russians, without exception, lived and live in the hope of restoring good relations and world peace without confrontation. Having lost millions of their people during the wars, the Russians wholeheartedly support only the peaceful orientation and doctrinal state of striving for general well-being, friendship and profitable trade.

    In France, the main population never really considered the Russians as enemies. On the contrary, there were some similar events in their respective histories. There were a few wars back then, but it was the political circumstances, or lobbies of the times that went beyond all that, but not a mutual hatred.

    Russia doesn't forgetting Normandie-Niemen unit. We invite them to parade on May 9 many times and we named streets in many cities to not forget about their heroic actions (and unlike ukrainians who renamed their streets that named in memories of soviets generals (and thats funny that they even try to erase names of the streets that in named in memories of soviet generals who actually was ukrainians) we don't renamed any street just because France in opposite side of that war.

      Macron does not care, he would have France be destroyed if his European and US employers request it. He sees himself as France CEO, not président. He works for the shareholders, not the people or the nation.
      Wether it makes sense or not is irrelevant, he only sees what he can get out if it.
