They really must be. There are months they claim less casualties than you can clearly see on videos released by the insurgents. The Israeli emergency rooms are no longer allowed to report casualty stats or allow reporters to look in to the matter. Some time back, a hospital in southern Israel claimed it admitted over 3,000 wounded IOF soldiers. This is just one hospital. If this claim is believed, it means that History Legends's calculation of 1,800+ wounded IOF troops is grossly miscalculated. As for those KIA, the figure is much higher than History Legends's estimate. The thing is that the IOF has not officially announced its casualties. As such, the casualty figure can only be estimated based on educated guessing at best. There has been much footage of the IOF troops being shot by Hamas snipers. Many of these Hamas snipers are using .50 cal anti-material sniper rifles with anti-armor bullets. It is almost impossible to survive such attacks. It will be years before the public knows the actual casualty figure.

But HL, Haaretz reported around 10k wounded according to hospital data and that was several months ago. This would mean that IDF fatalities are again, much higher than reported officially.
That report included an official stating that 2.5k were catastrophic injuries.

Both sides of the conflict have repeatedly torn apart the IDF and its claims, and there’s plenty of evidence that deaths and casualties in general are much higher than officially reported. I’ve also noticed a discrepancy in HL's data, which is that he says that according to official reports, 5 IDF soldiers have been KIA since the start of June, even though more accurate information confirms that the IDF has said 15 or so soldiers have been KIA since the start of the month. Maybe he’s trying to avoid stuff like this since it is a very hotly disputed topic and RUclips may try to delete the video if it gets a bit too out of hand. But in any case, it is definitely weird how he treated the IDF's casualty claims.

Ukraine has been pressganging elderly men and then throwing them into the grinder, with 2 weeks worth of training at the most. That combined with lack of aerial and artillery support. Any notion that Russians, who have been controlling battlefield for entirety of this conflict, would have higher casualty numbers, is a complete and utter nonsense.

Russians, in comparison to Ukraine, are waging completely different war. For them it is war of attrition. It does not matter how much ground they hold, for them all that matters is how many casualties they cause.

Here are some corrections and other things that might have been misunderstood you might be interested in:
@12:29 The 23 to 25 year olds aren't necessarily people who stayed in the army after mandatory service. Officers have to sign on to about one extra year, joining elite units can also require signing up to more time. But most of the people 23-25 killed were likely reservists and special forces who are more likely to be given the most dangerous missions.
@13:02 The calling up of reservists was not because a lack of platoon, company and squad commanders in non-reserve units. Those commanders are part of the mandatory service pipeline. What happened is that many people volunteered for reserve duty despite being exempt because of age, which meant they weren't tied to specific reserve units. They were either added to reserve or non-reserve units and mixed in, not because of any lack, but because these were people who were valuable and had no default unit to join. In general they weren't put into their own units because setting up whole units is avoided for logistical reasons.
@14:40 The Haredi population and Haredi parties are in general not the most extreme when it comes to the conflict. The Ashkenazi Haredi party is not Zionist and will not take cabinet positions because to them that is too much being part of the government as an institution of the State. The Sefardi Haredi party is more positive on Zionism and many MKs in that party talk about how the draft situation needs to change. Both parties don't really care about the conflict and are mainly concerned with getting money funneled into their schools and yeshivas and their community in general. They were in left wing governments and right wing governments. They are currently in bed with netanyahu because he has bought them off with his policies and they know he is desperate for support so he has to cave to them.
@24:12 The "recon" battalions are known as sayarot (plural, singluar is sayeret). These are considered elite units. Sayeret Golani and Sayeret nahal, are not the elite supersoldier SoF of sayeret Matkal, but they are not places you just "end up". There are physical and mental trials for these units before conscription and they are not easy to get into or pass. The reason that most casualties are in these units is because the most risky missions are taken up by elite units.
In general the need for more manpower isn't a short term issue, it is that the idea of high tech security being a substitute for human brigades at the border was shown not to work on October 7th.
