Ah, the ersatz Briton, philosopher, and tea enthusiast. She'll be in for a surprise when she visits England for university. I appreciate her chivalry and civility, and as an amateur historian, I greatly appreciate the use of Chanson d'automne as a rallying call to aid Oorai
You mentioned in your Kay Essay that she was the first one to show Miho Tankery isn't all about win or lose. I think Darjeeling would be the first opponent to show Miho there's grace in defeat. And it's a message carried on with each battle, since 80% of the time, both teams end up having a party afterwards. And in true Darjeeling style, hers consolidation to Miho is a tea set. How delightfully dignified and restrained compared to the kind of ragers Saunders or Anzio would throw.
She doesn't really give us much, but what Darjeeling does give speaks volumes. Elegancy and grace in its purest form. It's hard to tell what goes on in her head, but she doesn't need to say much for us to understand how she feels about her school, her friends like Miho, the matches she's in, and the matches she's watching. For a girl who says a lot of proverbs, she doesn't really say much as a whole. Though she doesn't really need to say much as, in a way she would put it, "actions speak louder than words." And it's through her calm, graceful persona that we see most of her character. The other parts being her fondness for cute things and her little mischievous side outside material depicts her as when she was a kid. Darjeeling probably had the greatest impact on Oarai and Girls und Panzer as a whole since she was Miho's first friend outside of Oarai, even giving her a commemorative tea set after their practice match, helped introduce her to a different side of Sensha-do that would be built further upon by Kay, taught Miho a valuable lesson on defeat and not letting it get to you, watched over Miho all the way through the tournament, and rallied everyone to Oarai's defense in Der Film. Darjeeling really carried Girls und Panzer on her back just as much as Oarai did. Huge respect to her. Darjeeling really is one of the best characters in the whole series and it's great to finally have an analysis video for her, even with how hard it is to truly analysis her. And I can't wait for the rest of St Gloriana as Rosehip's analysis will be such a treat. But, until then, take care Ascendant and thank you for the video.
I typed exactly the title and then you came as the foremost video delivered by algorithm. This feeling is unreal i mean howd you feel that somebody on earth did something exactly you are looking for❤❤❤love this vid
See i personally would put Darjeeling as the best School Commander, shes the only person whose beaten Miho twice and thats not a mean feat only Mika's been able to put Ooari on the back foot as much and that was because she sniped Miho first Darjeelings done so with Miho being in charge all the way through. Also if you look at the out of show material shes apprently very nearly beat Maho, so the TLDR it ended up as a one vs one between Maho and Darjeeling and Darjeeling had to gamble on getting the shot off first and in to the Tigers turret ring and Assam (the gunner) got the shot off first and it was only 1mm off (I believe it was high), if the shot had hit right Darjeeling would have been the person facing Miho in the final.
As our Ersatz-Bull😏👆 has pointed out, she is the Ersatz-Englishwoman who out Englishwomans the englishwomen.😏😋 I think it's a bit like the Americans, be the brit/english that Japan thinks you are. I think it's good if she keeps some if her mystique, while we get some more glimpses behind the veil of her smile. I wonder though, if she is a bit like Kay and Klara, habing an english parent or family member like a grandmother or Grandfather. Now story-wise she's the endboss aka the final opponent to beat, so conventional storytelling would expect Miho to beat Darjeeling, but given their writing I wonder if the Showrunners won't make it a draw. As a nod to sportsmanship, which is about mutual respect rather than winning at any cost. And to echo the results of the 1928 Vasaloppet, which is one of the greatest stories of Sportsmanship. Where Per-Erik Hedlund an Sven Utterström tied, arm in arm, and gave up their medals after the judges judged Hedlund to be the winner based on his shoulder being seen as over the line slightly earlier. Both didn't return to the race after that decision, being so disappointed with their zeal for a winner, that they disregarded sportsmanship and the athletes. P.S. Yes, Darjeeling is my favourite character in the show, partially due to her beautiful voice. Chapeau to her talented voice actress Eri Kitamura!🎩 Also she chose the right tea as nicknme as Darjeeling is indded the best tea, though second flush is superior to first flush. You may disagree with me at your leisure!
When Darjeeling ☕ learns Miho’s last name was Nishizumi she seemed genuinely surprised and her saying “you are from the Nishizumi school rather different from Maho I see” says to me she didn’t know about Miho transferring to Ooarai and that Shiho had practically cast out & disowned Miho, I think Darjeeling can be a little blunt sometimes but she’s still a great character 😊

Finally bro talked about Darjeeling I have been waiting for this
Please do mika character analysis. Im so proud mamiko noto’s character who looks a lot like Yakumo gives oorai the hardest battle hitherto

I'm definitely feeling Lady Penelope vibes from Darjeeling. So who is Parker?
2:12 makes me laugh
