- Plumbing, Sand, and Water! Epic Reef Tank Build 525 XL
Plumbing is certainly something you want to get right when setting up a reef tank. So in this episode my buddy Tim and I plumb his red sea reefer 525 XL and put sand and water in this tank to get it running finally.

It sure is! Thanks
Love the rock work
Thanks!!
Your channel just popped up on my feed today. Love it, subscribed!
Haha nice! Welcome aboard!😁
VERY NICE!
Thanks!
Did u guys cure the rock? Where did you get the rock from thanks. Getting ready for my new 210 build
You can find the link to the rock in description of the video. You don't have to cure this rock since it contains no organics. The tank still needs to cycle but curing isnt necessary. Good luck with your 210!
I think that you had a lot of trouble mounting the doors. I needed to remove my entire sump so i was able to mountain the doors. But in the end it was a reefer 170.
Loving your work
Awesome Setup 💯💯
hope your cycle is faster than mine with doc tims! im on day 24 and still got nitrites
Another question why such a bug pump? Is all that power needed? I ask because I am debating on a pump for my 210 it will be vectra
I find that with DC pumps it's a good ide to get a larger pump and dial it back if, that way in the future if you need more flow you can turn it up
@@RealReefingTV So question for you. I am thinking of going with VECTRA L2 DC RETURN PUMP (3100 GPH) on my 210. Instead of doing the 2 drains and 2 returns like aqeon intended I am using all 4 for drains. I am guessing the 3100gph should be enough. Your thought?
That's how I have my 300 gallon set up. Youre going to loose some of your GPH due to head pressure. And you can dial it back if you need to
Enjoying this series, thanks :) quick question do you put the rock straight on the glass, cut the bottom flat, put it on egg crate, silicone etc. just starting my first tank and I am not sure what is bets.
Thanks! I did not cut the rock or put anything down first. I do, however, make sure that when a rock is touching the glass that it can stand on its own. Meaning the weight is dispursed and not on a single point
There is a video on the aquascape of this tank
Use tap water for added fun.
😂
Great video.
Thank you!
love your videos
Thank you!
I think cutting down from 1" down to 1/2" piping off that pump is choking it up.
Wish I could afford one
Pshhh I know it.. so nice!
👀👍🏾
😁
I seriously doubt that is 525
?
RealReefingTV what
Just confused by your comment, that's all. This tank is the red sea reefer 525 xl. We're you referring to the size of the tank?
RealReefingTV yes
RealReefingTV I’m on the bio cube but I did not know Red Sea budget
