✎✐✎ ART CLUB ✎✐✎ I've just started my monthly art club on Ko-fi! Find out more and join us here: www.ko-fi.com/natashanewton In today's video I'm using the website MapCrunch to find some houses to draw from around the UK. MapCrunch a great illustration tool for when I want to draw scenery or buildings and need some reference material or inspiration. I'll talk more about this site in the video! This 'Sketchbook Time' is 30 minutes long, so grab your sketchbook and draw along with me, or just put me on in the background while you concentrate on whatever else you happen to be doing! I'm talking through most of it, so it's great if you want a bit of company while you're working. I'll tell you all about my new monthly Art Club that I've recently launched on Ko-fi too. For this sketchbook page, I decided to use just one pencil (I chose a Caran d'Ache Luminance in Payne's Grey) and I wasn't allowed to erase anything! This means that I'm concentrating on the act of drawing and just allowing myself to enjoy the illustrations as they develop, without worrying about making them perfect or overworking them. I'm calling these my Wonky Houses, because when you draw in this way, you just have to embrace the wonkiness! I think that it gives the buildings a certain character and charm, and I'm loving it! (Although the last one did go kind of wrong). 😂
Helluuu beautiful 😊. I just nipped over to ko-fi as I would love to become a monthly subscriber to your club. However, I only see an option to pay £5 to buy you a coffee. Before I went ahead & did that I wanted to check that was the correct option ? I'm happy to pay it, but it's the monthly subscription I was after, & being a complete ko-fi virgin I haven't a clue what I'm doing !?! 🤣 Could you give me a hand with how to proceed please my darling?.. xx
Great Natasha. This made me so happy to see! I loved your 'WONKFEST' session!! Drawing what you see rather than what you think, all about seeing the shapes, and breaking it down, and not rubbing things out, all good stuff.
Ah, thanks Mel! I can't even tell you how much I'm enjoying working in my sketchbooks. Looking forward to talking to you about it (and asking you a couple of questions) later this week! x
I always find them a bit intimidating too, which is partly why I'm pushing myself to just keep drawing them! Have a go, Carly - I'd love to see the results! xx
I'm so pleased you like the format - they're great to film as they're relatively easy (compared to the vlogs!). Let me know if your granddaughter enjoys it!
I'm excited about it too! I've been fiddling with it (that sounds weird, ha ha) behind the scenes so much. At first I was just going to have one tier, then I went to two, and then three, then back to two. I think I'm sticking at two, and I'm trying to offer what I hope will be really interesting/valuable content but also make it sustainable so that I'm able to create the content each month without burning out. It's not easy, is it?!
It's a Moleskine sketchbook, but I've recently discovered a very similar one that I love for about a third of the price - Royal Talens Art Creation sketchbooks. I got mine from Jackson's Art and Amazon. I think the size is 13x21cm. I'll try to remember to mention which sketchbooks I'm using in future videos!
I have just subscribed it sounds like a lovely idea. I try to use my sketchbook each day if I can. It doesn't always come out as I would like but I keep practicing. Michelle Mould
Hi Michelle, I think that working in a sketchbook regularly is important for so many reasons! :) I also wanted to let you know that I closed the Ko-fi art club a few months ago so that I could concentrate on growing my RUclips channel and offer all of the content for everyone to view here for free. Ko-fi is now used for people to give a one-off donation if they'd like to support the channel and/or if they find the content valuable or inspiring. I completely understand if you'd like to cancel your monthly subscription (I didn't even know that people could still subscribe in a monthly way like that - I thought I'd stopped that from happening!). I hope that you enjoy the videos, and thank you for your interest in my work.
Hi Natasha, I’m loving your wonky houses and I’m so happy to have discovered your channel! I was just wondering what pencil sharpener you use to get a good point on your pencils? Thanks 😊

Love your English accent. Makes you sound important, official, BBC-like, and will look into these pencils.
Ha ha!
These are just lovely, and I love the relaxing feel of the video! Going to save it and watch it in full before I sleep.
Thank you! I hope you enjoy it later (these are really quite relaxing to fall asleep to!).
LOVE how these houses turned out! I really like how that pencil laid down too - looking forward to hearing more about these pencils!
Sandi, I'm obsessed with these pencils - they're gorgeous to work with! Will try to make a video about them soon.

Thanks so much, Karen! I'm pleased that you like them. :)

@@NatashaNewtonArt Yeah, I have tweaked mine over the last few months to add/change things. I think it's an organic process :)
Ist was wonderful and Í´ m so happy to be Part of the Art Club. You are so inspiring.
I'm so pleased that you're a member! I'll be filming the Art Club's special Sketchbook Time video soon and I'm excited to share it with you all. :)
I also like practicing drawing without eraser backup, but I usually use a felt tip pen. Enjoying your houses very much!
Thanks Bethany! I'll have to film one where I work with a pen instead of a pencil - it'll be interesting to see the differences!
Wowwww so beautiful..,😍💖
Thank you so much! ♡
Love the wonky houses
Thanks Meg! So enjoyable to draw them. :)
I love this idea. I’m going to try this. Please share the sketchbook you’re using.

Thanks Joffy! Yes, I also thought the same; that they'd make nice book illustrations. That would be a great project!
