no lies told here .I've watched loads too and see what they be doing, but damit the terminology they be using be throwing me off, and worse never comes out like they be doing or saying.
Than you so much for this video! When I ask for "gel" nails they use "acrylic " powder and charge extra! No gel used at all. Hoping to find a salon in California that offers this service.
I know this tutorial is 6 years old, but I searched so long for a video like this. All nailartist are gonna say ,,You better should not apply gel on a form”. And I’m like ,,BROOOO! I want gel and forms!” I hate tips, because I like to see the gel under my nails... Thank you so much for this! ❤️
Thanks! When I first started doing my own nails, I started with gels. I've been doing them a little over 3 years now. I get less lifting with gel but you have to prep your nails really well, I've noticed that they are more sensitive to build up on the nail plate. If I do get lifting they come up faster then acrylics, but I hardly ever get lifting anymore. I personally feel like I have better control of gel not having to worry about it drying or my brush caking with acrylic. TFW! :)
Very very good video ! I have been practicing gels . Did you learn a lot of gel in school ? I been watching gel videos like mad ! Lol How do you like them and how do they where for you ? Any lifting ?
Wow this video was extremely helpful! For years I've gone to the nail salon trying to perfect the perfect gel extension look but the artists always build them to be bulky and thick! Now I've built my own kit at home and will be using this technique to perfect my technique! Thanks so much for sharing!

Tried it the other day and wow it's going to take a bit of time to get used to lol but I wanted to say I have watched ENDLESS videos on RUclips on how to apply gel on nail forms and yours is by far the best video, very well presented, easy to follow and I'm so glad I came across your video. HELP! I've found that whenever I use a builder gel I always get lifting on the natural part of my nail (not where I've applied an extension) even after being VERY precise in the set up process. is it the gel I'm using or am I doing something wrong??
make sure your cuticles are pushed back, lightly buff the natural nail to remove the shine. dehydrate the nail and use a ph primer. i would reccomend using a ph bond if you are continuing to experience premature lifting
This is so helpful thanks! I just do my own nails at home for fun. So I’m still learning. Is a base coat different than a primer? If I’m using the gel, do I need a base coat or just do primer and then straight to builder gel
Hi B!!! I have one question. How do you know when to use uv light vs led. I have a hard time knowing when to use what. Please let me know if you can, thank you !! I love watching your glitter mixing too!!!
Hi Jill! Most products will note on the package what they recommend for their product. That usually includes cure time and led vs uv. I personally use a 2in1 lamp that has both led and uv. This saves me time for having to switch out lamps as I work with so many different products. I really hope that helps! Thank you for watching 😊
When I start to cure the gel I always feel like my nail burns and it's so painful and because I find a way to stop it I've had to stop doing people's nails why is it that they burn?

Thank you so much for this video. I watched many different ones before finally deciding between trying acrylics or gels at home - I've had both at one time or another over the years (always paying someone else to do them, of course!). I did silk wraps for a long time on myself and just got tired of all the work/repair work (it just wasn't tough enough for my thin, weak nails). I finally decided to order the Sina kit off of ebay, then I found your video. You are so easy to follow and understand and you've made me more confident about doing this on myself. My kit should be here any day now, and I can't WAIT to do my nails again! Thanks again for sharing this and helping us out! I'll let you know how mine turn out... ;-)
What exactly should I say if I'm calling a nail salon to see if they do this method? I got it done this way when I was in Europe and haven't really seen it been done in the US so I'm trying to find a place that does them like this! Thanks!
Vanesa E I would ask for "gel extensions using nail forms"... I'm not sure, I've never asked for it as the salon, lol. Sorry I couldn't be more help! TFW
Or Hello, do your gel nail techs use either akzentz, en vogue, or LCN gel and hand sculpt the gel using forms under the nails as opposed to using tips?
Sina gel has actually been recommended in the uk nail tech magazine 'Scratch' so no idea what previous comments about it being illegal are about, it also has pretty good reviews by uk nail techs.
some builder gels and polishes will be cured by led as well as uv. It will say on the packaging. I do not recommend using the gel shown in this video however, it is cheap and nasty.
I’m going to be using this. Just ordered my materials online. I’m not a professional nail artist but I wanna look cute without all the hassle of paying for someone else to do it and have it last only 2 weeks.
Love your video, you are so pleasant to listen to. Many videos, they talk so much and so fast. You are down to earth and calm, I really like that. And of course, the content of the video was really good :)
Hi Beanana I love your tutorials you explain the steps so well. Do you think it is easier/better? to use tips for gel and is it a different technique and if you want to add colour or glitter when is the best time? Maybe you could do another tutoril for all us learners he he Love from the UK xx
Hi Carol, I think it depends on the person, personally think it's easier using tips. That way you have a foundation to work off of. I like using acrylic with glitter, I find it less "messy" then using gel but you can use gel to do the same thing. Again, it's just finding what you like but messing around with different options. I'm going to try to get some more tutorials up, did you have something in mind? Let me know and I'll try to add it if I can. Thank you for watching! :)
HI, I have never used Star Nail so I'm not sure if it's a product. The Sina gel does have heat spikes but if you use a fan to blow on it it passes quickly. The Sina gel is not a soak off builder gel and would need to be filed when you are changing sets. For soak off builder gels I like Nailiteinc . com brand of soak off builder gel. I'll try to get a acrygel tutorial done soon, but I need to order more extra fine acrylic powder 1st, so it might be a little bit before I can do it. :) TFW!
I just subscribed to you. I'm a total nail novice (well I've only been painting my nails for the past year with regular polish) but this is something that has interested me for a while now. I like how concise yet descriptive you are with your tutorials. It'll probably be a little while more before I even attempt doing gel nails like this but I just wanted to let you know I'll definitely be looking up your tutorials! :)
Do you just normal nail polish over the top? How long does that last? Can you put gel then nail polish then gel or will that not last? Can you add rhinestones to the gel then cure it will they stay will it cure? Sorry for the amount of questions. I really love your videos very easy to follow and understand:)
Beanana711 thank you so much. i have another question, i was wondering if you can recommend me a good primer, top coat and cuticle oil for acrylic powder nails? & where to purchase it.
Primer I use something wonderful from nailiteinc, topcoat I use opi axxium, oil I don't really have a favorite, at the moment I'm using divadc acrylic and omega from nailiteinc.com. Hope that helps!
I applied my form just like this, but somehow gel seeped under the form and got under my natural nail (which was about as long as yours). Do you have any idea what I did wrong? I do have a very strong natural c-curve to my nails with high side walls/lateral folds. It was my first time sculpting a nail, normally I just overlay my natural nails but I caught and broke the nail on my seat belt a couple of days ago. It was bugging me having an odd nail out lol.
So I didn’t know you could use alcohol to take the stickiness off for filing and shaping. Mine are a little bit funny shaped right now lol but I’m too lazy to soak them off and start over
Beanana711 Actually Sina is illegal to sell in Europe because of the high risk of allergic reaction, but i'm glad you switched brand, for your own security :)
soulsmusic15 I did know about that cause every product I'm gonna buy I do millions of research on so that easy stuff like allergic reactions don't happen to me. She's not being helpful cause that's the same stuff ever other person says to someone who uses the brand Sina. Idc if it's banned for high risk of allergic reaction, I looked at the ingredients and I know what I'm allergic to. It's about preference, that's all I'm trying to say
Loved this video I'm think about ordering some gel never used before you make it look so easy to use would you recommend it. I do my own nails useing dip powder im getting better at it now but love the look of gel nails would love your opinion on this please thanks for sharing x
this is SUPER helpful! But one question, if i want to paint them after i make the nail, can i use any gel nail polish with heat lamp? thank you so much!
Thanks for your video. It was so easy to follow. I can hardly wait to do it my self. I was wondering if you can use regular nail polish on it or does it have to be gel polish?
Those are so pretty you can wear them natural which I like or polished. I was also wondering do they have the same effect as acrylic on your natural nail? Because I would totally love to have something that looked beautiful on my nail but didn't destroy my natural nails. Thank you and thanks for the video I really enjoyed it.
these look great! i am getting ready to buy a gel nail kit with the same type of gel you are using. what do you do if you touch the gel all the way to the cuticle area? i am scared because i have very tiny nails and this product is file-off not wash off. -newbie-
Hi, What I like to do is only work 2 nails at a time, it takes longer but you don't have to worry as mush about gel running everywhere. The other thing I do is use a orange wood stick and run it around the cuticle and side walls EVERY TIME before I pop it in the light. That should insure you don't get gel where you don't want it. If you do get some on your cuticle and it gets cured, you will have to file it. Just be careful you don't file your skin. Hope that helps, thank you for watching! :)
Looks great! And thanks for specifically sharing, using this brand because I ordered that same thing earlier today and wasn't sure if it was a soak off.
This as helped me so much as a starter nail tech and will deffo be using ur technique in the near future considering i have the exact same products 🤗💅 xx
Does gel have that crazy potent smell like acrylic does? The smell of acrylic always permeates like half my house, it's insane! XD I am thinking of learning to do gel, so I was wondering how I should go about doing natural looking gel nails? I can't wear nail polish at work.
Thank you this was just what I needed to see, great demo! I have a LED lamp but after seeing your video I now realize I need a uv, could you advise on the wattage? Is a 36 watt ok? Don't want to spend a fortune but saw one on Amazon.
hi, great video! how strong is your lamp? and what kind of polish do you use for applying after you are done? does it have to be a certain kind of polish?
hallo..nice video!! are you satisfied with lina gels? i have also ordered these gels..but i have not get them yet..do they work well? do they tirn yellow?
Thank you so much for this video, am just about to do my very first gel nail and I have the same items as you use and it's so helpful to see someone that I could watch, looking forward to try this, have lovely day... Tina 😀💅🏻
Hey! Its a really helpful video, thanks a lot. I'm just short of the dehydrator. Is it compulsory to use it, or can we just file our nails before the Primer? Regards, Snea. Cheers! :)
Hi, I would recommend you do both as part of your prep (file & dehydrate). This insures that the acrylic has the best chance of sticking on the nail plate without lifting. You can substitute 90% rubbing alcohol in place of a store bought dehydrator, but I still recommend you use one or the other.
Your video is exactly what i was searching for. I know you uploaded it a while ago but I wanna ask if you can use normal polish on this kind of gel nails. And if i do, can I put gel top coat on it or just normal one?
Hey, i just had a random question.. Usually at the nail salons they use a drill to roughen up the natural nail.. Do you know what # but they use? Which is the softest #80 #120 or #180? Cause i know the lowest number is the roughest for filers. Im just now sure about the bits
I have a question I already have my nails done and I been using acrylic instead of gel. I was wondering would it hurt if switch it to gel instead of acrylic because I seen the the good work of gel and I love it and I want to try it. So do I need a whole full set or do I just need to soak off and then get gel
i have the exact forms and gel. i cannot get them to stay stuck . i tape them. i used this gel the other day. less than a minute in the uv light and it felt like my finger under the form was on fire. i thought maybe i had gotten some gel under my nail so i tried it on another one. i got the same burning. it was so bad that i had to rip the form off and cool it . i am now afraid to use it again and i have a bunch of it. i looked it up and it said to nuke it 2 - 3 minutes. i barely got to 1 minute. any advice is welcome. thanks
got my nails done for the first time today!! so excited and really love them.. but now that i am looking at them and soaking it all in they look soooo thick! is that normal? should they be very thick? they look great from above but straight on the thickness is there.. do i have anything to worry about or am i just not used to gel extensions? thanks
+Rachael Modafferi It's hard to say without a picture for reference... They will be thicker than your normal nails and being that it's your 1st set it might feel really thick compared to what you're use to. Hope that helps! :)
Hi, thank you. I filed and then I buffed (the green and purple thing you saw in the video). I use the sand turtles to buff instead of a buffing block, they last longer and work better IMO. To get rid of the dust I use a wipe with alcohol on it. Hope that help, thank you for watching! :)
Do you have a video showing how to do gel extensions using white for the tip? I prefer gel to acrylic as I am one of those that needs extra time to shape the nail plus gel doesn't smell like acrylic. I usually use white tips for the initial gel application then pink and clear builder gels. But once I start doing fills, I use white gel for the tip. This is where I get sloppy, I think. Any advice for using gel for white tips?
Bella7810 I don't have a gel video with tips but I do have one where I use white gel to make a tip. I'll link it down below for you, I'm not sure if it will help but it might be worth a look. Thank you for watching!! :) Classic French Gel Nail Tutorial *Using DivaDC Gels*
Hi can I ask, when you file over the nail at the end , do you use a buffer block or a medium to soft grit file? After this process could you then apply a gel top coat to give a great shine. I am asking as I still get a few bumps in my gel but have always been a bit worried to file the whole nail. Thank you. X
wow awesome i want to ask you is it important to use the nail primer and the alcohol ? ? because im using the gel builder and the forms with a brush but its not the nail brush its a makeup brush .. but the shape is always awful .. do u know whats the problem ?
Yes you need to dehydrate the nail and prime it. This helps the gel "stick" better to the nail plate (sets the PH balance to neutral). The makeup brush is fine provided it's clean (never been used for makeup application, most make ups have oils and fillers which could cause lifting). Also, prep is very very important, the nail plate needs to be completely clear of oils, dead skin, and dust. You can find prep videos in the description box. Hope that helps. Thank you for watching :)
:-) nice ... I been waiting to try out gel looks so easy but not sure if it will b as easy as it looks lol also any suggestions on a uv light just to give it a try
Hi. I just recently discovered your channel and I am in love. I want to start doing my own nails. However I do not have much knowledge about nails let alone doing my nails. I have only gotten my nails done twice, the first time it was with tip and some powder. I think that is called the acrylic powder and the second time I just had the acrylic powder put on my natural nails. I wanted to know if for my 1st time should I try the gel or the acrylic? But I do not want to use tips. And what is tge difference between the two. Thank you
Acrylic is power is acrylic liquid. It sets fast. Gel is a gel that sets with a light. You can have tips with both. But I prefer to sculpt my nails. Gel is now expensive to get done because supplies are most expensive and it take a lot of time.
Hello I am subscribed and absolutly love how well detailed your videos are. I just have one question I am looking into ordering a uv lamp but can you help me for gel application nails how much wattage do I need? And does it work the same if I glue on any type of rhyme stones?.. Thank you.
whenever I use forms the gel slips thru between my nail and edge of form, like it goes under my nail is this normal? I don't know how keep the form pushed up under my nail to prevent this :( if u coyld help me it would be extremely appreciated but love ur videos! u make it look so easy! xo
Molly Moo if you pinch the ends together not the part that goes on your finger the other end and slide under the nail you can make small cuts if your c-curve is sharp which will help go on easier. the only other thing would be to file your nails so they are curved enough that the form sits under your nail easier. The form might not be curved enough so pinching it a little will help it lift to your nail. hope this helps. 😘
hello can u let me know witch builder gel i can buy coz i m having led lamp n u tell in this video uv lamp can cure builder gel better then led lamps so plz tell witch builder gel i have to buy?

I like it, may I ask what's different between base coat and primer?
Dehydrator removes the natural oils from your nail
Primer helps bond the base coat to your nail
Base coat protects the nail from staining
Honestly this is the best video I have found on applying builder gel with nail forms thank you so much!
Thank you for watching!
I cure that builder gel in a LED lamp.
Kare Bear did it take a long time??
I also use an LED lamp and i find its faster especially with clear gel it only takes 30 seconds to cure for pretty much any builder gels i use

what's the difference between a primer and dehydrator
Sele Pwol primer makes its stay longer
Ok thanks
Sele Pwol dehydrator cleans your nail of oils and dust/debris prior to applying primer, which makes for it to last longer and not lift quickly

Yes, I've used my SH LED lamp and it did fine :) TFW!
Do you just normal nail polish over the top? How long does that last? Can you put gel then nail polish then gel or will that not last? Can you add rhinestones to the gel then cure it will they stay will it cure?
Sorry for the amount of questions. I really love your videos very easy to follow and understand:)
is the gold extension form reusable ?
No, you toss them out after each use. They make reusable ones but I don't have any. Thank you for watching! :)
All that stuffcomes from alixpress, you should just order the next time! Much cheaper.
So I didn’t know you could use alcohol to take the stickiness off for filing and shaping. Mine are a little bit funny shaped right now lol but I’m too lazy to soak them off and start over
Sina is not a good brand :/
Then don't use it, it's all personal choice. I switched to DivaDC but lots of people still use it. Thank you for watching :)
Beanana711 Actually Sina is illegal to sell in Europe because of the high risk of allergic reaction, but i'm glad you switched brand, for your own security :)
I have the same brand and it works well for me.. thanks for ur video helpful
ViaShelby
But does that make it okay? No. And what if you didn’t know about that?
Chill out, she was only trying to help you.
soulsmusic15 I did know about that cause every product I'm gonna buy I do millions of research on so that easy stuff like allergic reactions don't happen to me.
What is the incentive to using this as opposed to gel-x? It just seems like this takes soooo long lol. Anyway I’d still love to learn this technique.
this is SUPER helpful! But one question, if i want to paint them after i make the nail, can i use any gel nail polish with heat lamp? thank you so much!
Casey Talbert Yup! You just cure the gel polish like any other manicure, but you can skip the base gel. Thank you for watching! :)
Thanks for your video. It was so easy to follow. I can hardly wait to do it my self. I was wondering if you can use regular nail polish on it or does it have to be gel polish?
Yes, once the gel is cured you can use any polish on it (gel or regular). Thank you for watching! :)
Maureen Thurston They don’t destroy your nails like acrylic
these look great! i am getting ready to buy a gel nail kit with the same type of gel you are using. what do you do if you touch the gel all the way to the cuticle area? i am scared because i have very tiny nails and this product is file-off not wash off. -newbie-
Hi,
What I like to do is only work 2 nails at a time, it takes longer but you don't have to worry as mush about gel running everywhere.
I'm glad it helped you out, thank you for watching! :)
Wow that looks like your real nails!!!! I have never used gel but it don't look too complicated! Lol...I love your videos girl..thank u soon much!!!
GlitterGoddess Thank you! :) TFW
After this, do i still have to but a base on before the colour? Loving the tutorial!!
No you don't, a base is to protect the natural nail so you wouldn't need it on a fake extention.
V nice & thankx but mane ya prodect perchez kia hy wo tu jb nail pr apply krti hu tu dry ni hota plzz mujy bta dy k gel dry kesy hogi
This as helped me so much as a starter nail tech and will deffo be using ur technique in the near future considering i have the exact same products 🤗💅 xx
Glad it helped! Thank you so much for watching, Sarah 😊
Does gel have that crazy potent smell like acrylic does? The smell of acrylic always permeates like half my house, it's insane! XD
I am thinking of learning to do gel, so I was wondering how I should go about doing natural looking gel nails? I can't wear nail polish at work.
Thank you this was just what I needed to see, great demo! I have a LED lamp but after seeing your video I now realize I need a uv, could you advise on the wattage? Is a 36 watt ok? Don't want to spend a fortune but saw one on Amazon.
Yes, 36 would work great! :)
I’m allergic to like acrylic/fiberglass nails now. Or something like that. Can gel nail extensions like these be another alternative for me?
hi, great video! how strong is your lamp? and what kind of polish do you use for applying after you are done? does it have to be a certain kind of polish?
I used a 36w uv lamp for this set of nails. The polish I used was uv gel, but you can use regular polish too. Thank you for watching! :)
hallo..nice video!! are you satisfied with lina gels? i have also ordered these gels..but i have not get them yet..do they work well? do they tirn yellow?
If you do not have a toenail at all I mean it was surgically removed about 10 years ago can you use the acrylic to make a toenail
Thank you so much for this video, am just about to do my very first gel nail and I have the same items as you use and it's so helpful to see someone that I could watch, looking forward to try this, have lovely day... Tina 😀💅🏻
How'd it go?
i think i did ok, but am going g to try again, i thank you for your video ive watched it a few times now, have great day... ;-)
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found my video helpful. If you have any questions feel free to ask :) Have a great night! -Ariana
Hey!
Its a really helpful video, thanks a lot.
I'm just short of the dehydrator. Is it compulsory to use it, or can we just file our nails before the Primer?
Regards,
Snea.
Cheers! :)
Hi, I would recommend you do both as part of your prep (file & dehydrate). This insures that the acrylic has the best chance of sticking on the nail plate without lifting. You can substitute 90% rubbing alcohol in place of a store bought dehydrator, but I still recommend you use one or the other.
Thank you this is the gel I currently bought and wow its so soft and nails tend to bend.
hi hun, can i just ask how long they lasted please and do you use other colours of uv gel and/ or brands and would you reccomend them? x
The prima one can I get any sort is that just a bond to make sure the gel sticks? X
You will need to remove the acrylic first.
i have the exact forms and gel. i cannot get them to stay stuck . i tape them. i used this gel the other day. less than a minute in the uv light and it felt like my finger under the form was on fire. i thought maybe i had gotten some gel under my nail so i tried it on another one. i got the same burning. it was so bad that i had to rip the form off and cool it . i am now afraid to use it again and i have a bunch of it. i looked it up and it said to nuke it 2 - 3 minutes. i barely got to 1 minute. any advice is welcome. thanks
got my nails done for the first time today!! so excited and really love them.. but now that i am looking at them and soaking it all in they look soooo thick! is that normal? should they be very thick? they look great from above but straight on the thickness is there.. do i have anything to worry about or am i just not used to gel extensions? thanks
+Rachael Modafferi It's hard to say without a picture for reference... They will be thicker than your normal nails and being that it's your 1st set it might feel really thick compared to what you're use to. Hope that helps! :)
fantastic video! although i have 1 question, when you file do you file on top of the nail then use the dust remover thing that looks like a file? xx
Hi, thank you. I filed and then I buffed (the green and purple thing you saw in the video). I use the sand turtles to buff instead of a buffing block, they last longer and work better IMO. To get rid of the dust I use a wipe with alcohol on it. Hope that help, thank you for watching! :)
Beanana711 you're welcome and thank you :)
I ordered some gel and a uv nail dryer. I'm so excited. Thank you for this video. You made it look very easy.
Classic French Gel Nail Tutorial *Using DivaDC Gels*
+Beanana711 oh thank you very much for the answer . that was so useful
I'm not sure how I would add a gel colour to this on just the tips. would I ally to the tips cure and do another coat of the white gel?
Base coat isn’t required? Plus if its LED lamp how long will it take to cure?
:-) nice ... I been waiting to try out gel looks so easy but not sure if it will b as easy as it looks lol also any suggestions on a uv light just to give it a try
Do you really need to put on the dehydrator and the prima before doing gel nails? X
Yes, unless the system you are using states otherwise. Most builder gel needs primer and dehydrator. Thank you for watching :)
Sis, the brush is right when I want to take the builder gel, do you need to wet the brush too?If you need to wet it, what do you use it?
Thank you
Yeah i wonder that too , which one should i buy ,what is the difference between them?
I like gel better. Because I don't like glue on tips. I like them to be sculpted. And I feel that gel looks a lot more natural(:
Acrylic is power is acrylic liquid. It sets fast. Gel is a gel that sets with a light. You can have tips with both. But I prefer to sculpt my nails. Gel is now expensive to get done because supplies are most expensive and it take a lot of time.
Lorraine Ubaldo hard gel will be better for beginners since it needs to be cured in a uv lamp before it sets.
Very nice !! my problem is how can I put gel color afterwards on these nails.. ? I don't know how to do it .. ? Thanku
ZaaraE Do you mean gel polish?
Do u have to file ur nail a bit like u do for acrylic for it for stick better ?
I really want to try gel nail extensions but im worried about the UV lamp like would it cause health related problems?
hello can u let me know witch builder gel i can buy coz i m having led lamp n u tell in this video uv lamp can cure builder gel better then led lamps so plz tell witch builder gel i have to buy?
do you have to apply primer, and does a nail cleanser work as a dehydrator?
