I'm glad I'm not the only one picking this up from the beginning of this story, everything was just giving me these signs of autism, it breaks my heart that all these people in those times would be treated some kind of way because they didn't act "normal" because of autism, and instead of helping they would be abused into "acting right" and especially for girls and women don't get diagnosed for autism until later in their life b3cause most traits are desired traits fot girls to have it breaks my heart, and I feel like I get looked at as crazy for being concerned and open to the our children being autistic, there are definitely some signs of it and that's okay with me, but people act like thats something I want or something. It's not but I'm willing to help my child of they need help. I don't want them to feel like they struggle or suffer so we can seem socially "normal "

As someone who grew up half an hour away from Claymore, I can confirm it is as great as it sounds. The first time I drove through there, there was an old mattress on fire in the middle of a roundabout.
I lived in claymore for a few year's as a kid and it is totally a regular thing for a house or a car to be on fire in the street so the mattress is tame lol

It’s everywhere. I see people on FB comment that someone’s behavior seems off and then a ton of people attack them. I’m listening to The Phantom Prince; My Life With Ted Bundy and it’s obscene the number of times she was gaslit by the police and to some extent her friend. Not even him. You’d expect it from the sociopath but it was so many other people. She recognized the similarities between her bf and the description/location of a local attacker. Reported it. Was frequently questioned along the lines of but why do you really think it’s him and there must be more only to be told we checked him out and I wouldn’t worry about it being him, etc

So from 1770 to 1902 women had no rights in Australia (I know that was relatively big at the time because women went without rights til 1920's in the US but stilllll the point is we are all human & deserve rights) AND from 1770 to 1975 Australia's FIRST NATION'S people had no rights in their own country THAT IS 200+ YEARS. So let's not try and say there was any equality and "it went both ways" (in reference to the comment on this thread mentioning it going 'both ways'). Curly Queen Bee I learned as a young Mom of 22 that we're not always listened to. Our four month old son needed foot surgery, as he'd been born with serious club feet. At the hospital, the Nurse was disregarding my claim that I'd noticed my son had a fever, as I literally could tell by feeling him. She'd said it was his pajamas making it seem that way. My sons surgery had to suddenly be rescheduled due to his fever. 🥀🥀🥀🥀 Mom's know.

The beginning really hits home. It's such a shame when professionals don't listen about child/ren needing help. I've begged for help from professionals both in school and by doctors for years and they act as though I'm the crazy one. Apparently because my child mostly has these emotional and violent outbursts at home and towards me, that means they can 'control' their behaviour and it is my fault, so I have been assigned my second parent course. My child has physically asked for help, screaming and crying, overwhelmed with emotion but no one will help us

When my first born was throwing up all the time when he was around 8/9months old my doctor didn't believe me until he saw him throw up in the room at our emergency visit in his office. I kept telling him my son is screaming his head off because he's soo hungry and can't keep anything down and was getting weak. Turns out they ran some test and did a scan of his body and found out he had pyloric stenosis (fusing of the stomach). Now he's 19 years old and every time I see that scar it gets me upset how they did not believe me, I could have lost my son due to their idiocy.

Even just as a daughter, the idea of a kid being comfortable with hurting babies the moment the starts working as a sitter is sickening. I’ve been babysitting for most of my teens, and the youngest Kids I had were 4. None of my parents friends had newborns, but even if they did, I don’t know if I’d be comfortable being responsible for such a fragile and helpless being. I freaked out when I lost their hamster all night. Actually thought I’d have to tell the parents that I lost the little girls favorite pet. 🐹 Pip was alright though

"Professionals" only see or hear what the patient tells them and alot of the problem is that a patient may be very manipulative and/or compulsive liars. It's so sad that for once there's a story where a parent actually tried to do something, but no one cared to listen and instead told the parent off for trying. That's so depressing.
It’s everywhere. I see people on FB comment that someone’s behavior seems off and then a ton of people attack them. I’m listening to The Phantom Prince; My Life With Ted Bundy and it’s obscene the number of times she was gaslit by the police and to some extent her friend. Not even him. You’d expect it from the sociopath but it was so many other people. She recognized the similarities between her bf and the description/location of a local attacker. Reported it. Was frequently questioned along the lines of but why do you really think it’s him and there must be more only to be told we checked him out and I wouldn’t worry about it being him, etc

Bailey, as an Aussie, our history is dark and marked by darkness death and racism. Growing up here and living here my whole life, i am STILL learning about the past. Please do a dark history on Australia and shed some light on our past 😢❤
Racism actually went both ways so it was essentially people doing awful things to one another.

For anyone who isn't aware of Australia's history or needs a refresh - Australia was claimed land for Great Britain in 1770. - In 1788 British settlement of Australia began. - Womens rights 1902. NOW TO THE BEGINNING OF ABORIGINAL RIGHTS: - 1966: Start of the land rights movement (key word - movement / no official rights yet). The Racial Discrimination Act 1975. 1977: The NSW Aboriginal Land Council starts work. 1981: Government establishes the Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs. 1983: The NSW Aboriginal Land Rights Act.
So from 1770 to 1902 women had no rights in Australia (I know that was relatively big at the time because women went without rights til 1920's in the US but stilllll the point is we are all human & deserve rights) AND from 1770 to 1975 Australia's FIRST NATION'S people had no rights in their own country THAT IS 200+ YEARS. So let's not try and say there was any equality and "it went both ways" (in reference to the comment on this thread mentioning it going 'both ways'). Australia has merely started to make amends with it's original land owners.
And a metaphor for anyone who needs to be able to see through a different lens, "An Elephant and a Mouse are having a fight over the Elephant wanting the Mouses turf. The Elephant steps on the Mouse, if you decide to be neutral, the Mouse will NEVER appreciate your neutrality since it was the one who got stepped on trying to defend it's home and the mouse loses everything it's home & it's life".
- Also White Australian who's family came here to escape world war 2 & has no Aboriginal ties. It's natural to want to defend your roots and where you come from BUT white isn't the only part of humanity and as a human being at the core we must be able to reflect without bias in order to hold empathy for others, show true sorrow & do our best to mend what those before us broke to be able to grow together as a society.

There’s a famous UK case where a trainee nurse did this to a lot of sick/premature babies in her care. She’s called Beverley Allitt and I’d love to see you cover that case!
There is a current case going on in the UK Lucy Letby as well. Sounds like same situation.

We had to go to Lincoln once a week for ages then every 2 weeks etc cause Grantham won't deal with Children now thanks to her.
What a sad story, her Mom knew she was dangerous, but the doctor wouldn't listen to her.

Life sentences are somehow not life sentences it seems. There are a lot of instances of vile criminals getting “life sentences” and then being released after 15-20 years, if that. It’s really infuriating…
Moms are always thought of as “crazy” when they see signs of anything and tries to do something about it to make sure their child is okay. I’m a mother and I know this feelings.
Curly Queen Bee I learned as a young Mom of 22 that we're not always listened to. Our four month old son needed foot surgery, as he'd been born with serious club feet. At the hospital, the Nurse was disregarding my claim that I'd noticed my son had a fever, as I literally could tell by feeling him. She'd said it was his pajamas making it seem that way. My sons surgery had to suddenly be rescheduled due to his fever. 🥀🥀🥀🥀 Mom's know.

The beginning really hits home. It's such a shame when professionals don't listen about child/ren needing help. I've begged for help from professionals both in school and by doctors for years and they act as though I'm the crazy one. Apparently because my child mostly has these emotional and violent outbursts at home and towards me, that means they can 'control' their behaviour and it is my fault, so I have been assigned my second parent course. My child has physically asked for help, screaming and crying, overwhelmed with emotion but no one will help us

When my first born was throwing up all the time when he was around 8/9months old my doctor didn't believe me until he saw him throw up in the room at our emergency visit in his office. I kept telling him my son is screaming his head off because he's soo hungry and can't keep anything down and was getting weak. Turns out they ran some test and did a scan of his body and found out he had pyloric stenosis (fusing of the stomach). Now he's 19 years old and every time I see that scar it gets me upset how they did not believe me, I could have lost my son due to their idiocy.
I feel this!! Took til my boy was 13 to finally get some help and turned out he has adhd and o.d.d

Even just as a daughter, the idea of a kid being comfortable with hurting babies the moment the starts working as a sitter is sickening. I’ve been babysitting for most of my teens, and the youngest Kids I had were 4. None of my parents friends had newborns, but even if they did, I don’t know if I’d be comfortable being responsible for such a fragile and helpless being. I freaked out when I lost their hamster all night. Actually thought I’d have to tell the parents that I lost the little girls favorite pet. 🐹 Pip was alright though

Exactly. Parents know their kids and what goes on behind closed doors. "Professionals" only see or hear what the patient tells them and alot of the problem is that a patient may be very manipulative and/or compulsive liars. How can they treat someone who appears to be so sweet and an "angel" when they only see what that they let them see. Not sure if I'm making any sense lol.
