I really like the way you look at lines: collection of musical ideas (words) in a musical sentence.
Breaking the fragments down also teaches theory of what’s going on musically.
So many cat’s solos just consist of plug and play literal lines over II, V, I changes without regard for the melodic, harmonic or rhythmic statement.
One long line should reveal many ideas.
