such a good scene between Kim and Jimmy there on the roof top... such good acting... fun fact as Kim once told in an interview they practiced and practiced and rehearsed and rehearsed that scene at home a gazillion times (these two and Howard were roommates in Albq.) and then when it was time to shoot the scene it was sooo windy and loudly windy that they had to shout at each other even more to make it work but i think it was for the best :D anyways great reaction as always... s4 finale will be emotional to watch. yes.
Hot damn! Screaming through these. Here's some nuggets of BTS trivia for your eyes, Moses: So, from the go you can tell this is an episode directed by Vince. So much symmetry, reflections, moods built with stylised lighting. But he admits that all knows is what he wants, he's very humble, but it’s having a DP like Marshall Adams at your side that would really help. The story of the bell really goes back to the days of writing BB, as the writers kept asking, “Where the fuck did he get that bell?” And Vince was always like, “Bahh, doesn’t matter, we’ll think of it later.” But they were aware that it looks like a hotel bell, not something a medical pro would’ve gave him. With the introduction of Lalo, they whipped up that story, gave it to Tony Dalton, and he was able to spit out that monologue. Vince did a great job (as ever, obv) directing that scene I thought, really made Lalo and Hector feel truly bonded, even through a lighthearted tale of burning an entire hotel full of people to the ground. Note also, Tony switching between Spanish and English so fluently, that was all him, it wasn’t written in the script for the character to do this, or was he told by Peter or Vince, that’s him just building his character on set, and the team loved it. When Vince was prepping his shots for the blasting scene, he visited the set prior and filmed a lot of small takes with his iPhone, just to get some ideas. One that he liked was the camera in front of Werner as he checks the wire, 'pulling him' as he descends the steps. Vince got that idea from taping his iPhone to his own foot and walking down. Guerilla filmmaking, Moses! Neat little trick they did regarding Tyrus driving the truck also - as the actor Ray Campbell can’t drive, they got a pro to drive, added a fake steering wheel in the passenger side for Ray to steer - keeping the camera on him - and then flipped the image in post, so it appears that Tyrus is driving. And that stunt to mask the explosions was definitely a Mike idea - practical and economical. Re: Lalo - after the writers convinced Vince to add that character, Peter Gould wanted to bring him in as a Salamanca, but one who is the stark opposite of the rest: charismatic, charming, extremely intelligent, a real obstacle and threat for Gus. Jonathan Banks calls him “the meanest motherfxckin’ badass” he’s ever seen on screen. He isn’t wrong. (note: I have no idea what lens it was that Vince used for that insane long-shot of Werner after his phone call to his wife as he approaches the boys, but I heard it looked ridiculous on the camera. And I want one.) Also, I don’t think Dave Porter’s scoring gets enough credit. I’ve always said his music on BB and BCS is like another character. When the rest of the sounds fade out in that scene, leaving us with just the music, it’s almost reflecting where Werner’s at himself: isolated, forlorn. Quite moving. Can’t wait to see how you’re finding season 5, broseph! x Edit: spelling
It's amazing how we were given time to learn about new charactors in BCS but when Lalo bursts on the scene, you know exactly who he is. It's go from the first minute and he never lets up with the energy.
Kim and Jimmy's argument is so good. Jimmy is projecting Chuck onto Kim, and everything Jimmy was insecure about going back to season 1, including Kim not wanting to be law partners with Jimmy, and Mrs. Kettleman calling him "the kind of lawyer guilty people hire."
Kim in scam mode again here, she's learning from Jimmy fast. Jimmy playing the crazy brother supposed to looking after the imaginary kid. Then we have the spilling of the drink on the plans. Kim becoming a real 'Pro' scammer now. Back in the care home Lalo appears to visit Hector. The thing about Lalo, he is not as direct in being ruthless as the other Salamancas, but it could be said he is definitely more cunning, and as bad as any of them. Jimmy thinks his hearing will be a piece of cake. Mike and Werner striking up a kind of relationship, but Werner is now getting homesick and this is causing real problems. Lyle tells Gus 'those guys' are back in the restaurant. Lalo again being over affable talking about chicken. Lalo giving a strange thanks to Gus for saving Hector's life. Nacho of course still very much caught in the middle between Fring and Lalo. Jimmy goes ballistic after his rejection at the hearing and loses it. Mike and his guys tapping Werner's calls to his wife. Jimmy driving in the multi storey car park like Peirce Brosnan in his BMW in Tomorrow Never Dies. Jimmy turns on Kim on top of the car park after all the help she has given him. Chuck was of course right about Jimmy he will never change. Mike using all his skill and knowledge to know something is up, a fatal mistake by Werner to cross Mike and Fring.
I really like the scene with Lalo and Gus, its like the meeting of charisma and politeness with this maquiavelic, untrusting background that unites them , feels like a tensioning chess game. Especially Lalo like, for real, remarkable acting, you really kinda like him kinda fear him 1000/10. I insist, i rly love your reactions since i can see you enjoy it and apreciate it. Its like when you show a friend something that you trully love like a video or show and they just get it as much as you do, yk? Can't wait for the next one!! and i think we all love the fact you update so fast. i like your style lol
Haha! The show is sooo good. That's why you are doing 2 or 3 at a time. This show is practically Shakespearean in its story telling value. Amazing 👏 🙀 😯
Yes!!! Great reaction & episode. So, this: "We did a subject on this @ university [Ethics]... I don't know if you guys like to hear my insights on [issues of Law]..." Can't speak for others, but I LOVE hearing knowledgable reactions to legal issues - big & small - that pertain to the action/storyline/writing of BCS. You're probably aware of this, but there are at least a few channels here on RUclips that have "A lawyer reacts to Better Call Saul" in them. Your reactions are generally better, honestly, but point being reactions that get into legal details of the show are way, way cool imo. Here's a legal detail in the script for you from this episode that may have blown by unnoticed. After Kim & Jimmy are getting dinner on the way back from pulling the scam in Lubbock, Jimmy asks Kim for her definition of "good" when she says she only wants them to use their powers for good. She answers him by saying, "It's like Potter Stewart said: We'll know it when we see it." Look up "Potter Stewart / I know it when I see it." ;) And, yeah, the argument on the roof of the parking garage is BRUTAL. As always, as I've mentioned before, most of my favorite scenes in the show are Jimmy & Kim talking. Or even Jimmy & Kim just sitting. This argument is written and performed perfectly, and like you said, had been coming for a while. There's so much happening, so much subtext going on in there. Aside from all the obvious psychology that can be pored over, there's one exchange of just two lines that almost literally knocked me out the first time I witnessed them. I had to turn off the tv, get up, walk around for a minute, and shake it off: "There ya' go, kick a man when he's down." "Jimmy, you are always down." Good lord this show is powerful...
Still hoping for a SPINAL TAP reaction to compare “Chuck” with “David”. Not only do I honestly believe you’d love it … but the film’s cult status would get you some BIG views.
"But you're not as confused as him, are you? It's not your job to be as confused as Nigel is." LMFAO. McKean is brilliant. And my understanding is that a good amount (most?) of Spinal Tap's dialogue was improvised. If the line "It's not your job to be as confused as Nigel" was improvised right there, in that moment, it's gotta be one of the greatest improvised lines of all-time.
If I was Jimmy I would have briefly mentioned Chuck ("Biggest reason was my brother but I dont want to talk about it the wound is still fresh" for example) but you know...they fucking know who Chuck was to him, and if Howard thinks he killed himself they probably think it too soooo, cmon, grief is processed in different ways by different people...why would a person be called insincere if he doesnt want to talk about something that deeply hurts him?
also lalo actually speaks Spanish, the actor is Mexican. it's so refreshing to have a cartel member who has an authentic accent for once lol. it makes gus' sound a lot worse tho lol
Im chilean and i honestly feel ofended with the represeentation of the accent could not be more off and literally no latam country has such "gringo" accent lmao
So many amazing moments in this episode, but I have to pick the Jimmy/Kim fight as the best scene, just perfect. Four seasons of the things never said all coming out in a couple minutes.
Tell you what, watch the debate between Kim & slipping Jimmy, then go back and rewatch the interview to reinstate his law license. You might have a different take on it. Think he comes across as completely deserving disbarment. Its a credit to the actor s and their chemistry, sort of like Spike on Buffy, that the audience just loves them. Will die on that hill, almost no matter how badly they act, how toxic they are.
You’re the best reaction channel on YT right now. I find myself rewatching BB and BCS just to see your reaction. Keep it up!!
apreeeeecciatee that!!!
"you'd be crazy to go up against eladio" oh lalo didn't watch breaking bad 😏

Closest we can get to modern Shakespeare. Outside of Fargo at least.
Yup. GOAT :)

Your analyzis is always great. I hope you will be not spoiled reading some comments. Enjoy it, the finale is really great
YAY waking up to Elie reacting to bcs is always a good day thank youuuu❤
Notice how the "Wiedersehen" was spray painted in yellow, just like "Heisenberg" inside Walt's house in season 5 of BB.
Elie, I love ur grind and energy my brother, keep shooting ur shot!
Love ur content
Lalo maybe my favorite tv character of all time

Just like in Breaking Bad, the camera IS a character itself!
P.S. 7:55 Kim hasn't really crossed over yet, but just you wait!
