I’ve been waiting for you to find out that Ellie is Eloise! Surprise!!!! 😮

Eloise has Daniel's journal, so she's always know what's gonna happen next... but Daniel's journal ends there. Now, for the first time ("in a long time") she has no idea what's next. Daniel's journal only goes to "I took Widmore's job, I'm back to 1977 in the island, and I'll have to ask for the bomb to my mom".

I absolutely love Eloise character, to me she is like Richard - very mysterious, knowledgeable and strong. The Queen of Lost! I always feel so excited when she is introduced in an antique shop refusing to sell ring to Desmond.

As much as I love the DHARMA era of season 5, I get so bummed because it means the end is coming soon!

Eloise told Penny she doesn't know whats going to happen next perhaps because she's done all she needed to do. Anything that happens after she sends the Oceanic 6 survivors back to the Island is pretty much a blank slate left for the universe and the will of the Island to dictate or decide. I don't know if that the right adjetive to describe old Eloise and Charles Purpose was. The scene between Charles and Eloise where he interupts her statement where she was saying "I had to send my son back to the island knowing full well...." She was going to say knowing full well he was going to die at her hand. Charles cut her off midway saying he's his father too. At this point in the 1977 timeline Eloise appears to not know anything or even who Daniel is based on her genuine reaction to finding out she shot her own son.

If Sawyer had captured someone who had infiltrated the compound, he wouldn't have him tied up and gagged in his closet, and he wouldn't have kept it a secret. Radzinsky reached a conclusion quickly, but it was a rational one.

The 100th episode dips its toes in to the idea of changing everything that has happened. The next three episodes are full speed. Remember when we saw middle age Eloise at the beginning? The look on her face as she came from the other room to talk to Daniel? She knew. It’s why she was so hard on him and pushed him go to the island. The look she gave daniel after windmore asked him to join his freighter. Even at the hospital she said “ I had to send my son back to the island knowing full well”

Daniel isn’t wary of the Others coz he wasn’t one of the oceanic survivors so hasn’t had that experience with them I’m so angry with Kate n Jack etc turning up n destroying sawyer’s n Juliet’s lives Richard prob didn’t recognise Dan straight away coz it’s been 20 years Daniel asking if it would make his mum proud is heartbreaking They keep reiterating that any of them can die in case the audience stops worrying about them Sawyer calling Kate “freckles” is what upset Juliet n made her instantly giv them the code Daniel dying doesn’t start a new branch. This is Daniel’s present. He’s in the same group as sawyer n miles n Juliet, he’s lived in the 70s for the last 3 years, just not in Dharmaville. When he says to his mum that she always knew he means that the older mum version that he knows would remember she shot him in the 70s but allowed it to happen anyway, which would be such a hurtful last few moments for him 😓😓😓 so sad. Daniel was one of my fave characters

When Elie said for the first time she didn’t know what would happen next, that was probably a true statement. Like you were saying, Daniel may not fully understand what his actions may trigger. I was one again impressed, but not surprised, that you figured something before its reveal. Charles & Ellie are Daniel’s parents.

Hey Elie! Loving the reactions, I'm sure other people have covered it, but that scene with young Charlotte is haunting because when Charlotte died earlier in the season she told Dan that she remembered him as a little girl telling her never to come back to the island. So that ALWAYS happened. Also, Dan ALWAYS died in the past, he's already come to the island in the present, because the present is his past. He was always destined to be born, raised, have his accident, go to the island, travel back in time and be killed by his mother. That's why she was so neglectful to him, because she always knew that she'd killed him on the island when she was younger. Before she even gave birth to her son she killed him in the camp when he'd come back in time. She's saying she doesn't know what's gonna happen next because she closed the loop. Now that she's raised Daniel and sent him back to the island to be killed by her younger self, she doesn't know what the future holds anymore. Make sense? Haha, it's complicated, but basically, Daniel died proving himself wrong, he couldn't change anything and basically only fulfilled what he was always meant to do... now, going into the last bit of the season, the question is, will the other characters make the same mistake? Or will THEY be able to change things? Whatever happened, happened.

Richard asked Dan, do we know each other?, because his face sounded familiar, but after 23 years, it's obvious he wasn't sure about that

Great summary and analysis of the chaotic consequences Daniel’s plan presents to the rules of time travel which the writers so clearly have set up. You’re 100% right to be feeling concerned and questioning his thinking - I was of the same opinion on my first watch - “please Lost writers don’t create an alternate timeline and make it more convoluted / don’t introduce multiverse logic in a story where the magic and beauty of the show is that life and death is finite and the stakes of the show are so much more meaningful and true to life in the current way it has been set up.” Yes you’re right to feel that way - and I’m glad to see that even though it might make the show dramatic and interesting you’re also not keen for them to undo the clean time travel logic which has been so consistent and satisfying. And also we’re going into the final season so it would not be something to do at the last moment. But yeah this is what it is - and what it means and how it plays out you will come to see soon. So glad to see you’re on the right page/understanding and that you want the timeline to stay as it is. That was certainly my feeling. Can’t wait to see your reaction to the great end to this season! Last note: So the Daniel that gets on the freighter in 2004 is the past version of this Daniel. If this Daniel survives and lives another 30 years and he’d get to 2004 and he’d be 60 something. And at the same time there’d be a 30 year old Daniel who is going to go to the island. So there would hypothetically be 2 Daniels at once. So in short, no, if Daniel does die that doesn’t create a paradox. He simply went to the island in 2004, time travelled back to the 70s and then died there. Little Daniel would then grow up in the 80s and he’d then come to the island in 2004 - no changes to the timeline. As Daniel said to Jack “anyone of us can die…”

That's why Eloise tells Widmore: don't talk to me about sacrifice. Because she sent her son to the island knowing that she herself would kill him

Kate and Sawyer caught on video again. Hmm, is that a call back? ;>). O6 is karma. Sawyer doesn't get Dharmaville do overs after murdering an innocent man. You are in for more shockers to come.

What great casting on the younger Eloise! The woman looks and sounds a lot like our 'time lord' Eloise. Kudos to Lost casting people!

I should also probably say that the time travel does hold up, with no paradoxes. I've read a lot of science fiction that has dealt with time travel, so I understood it (don't ask me about "Terminator" because I have major problems with that). Anyway, you may need to map it out on paper though to understand, but it really does hold up.

I'm still so confused by this show. Eloise, Widmore, Faraday, the timeline, what the hell's going on and why. 🤷‍♀️ I still enjoy the ride, but it'll never be clear to me.

Miles (little one) was on the island, so not sure how you assumed that Phil was going to die anyway. There is people on the island that is still alive in the future, so clearly not everyone on the island dies, and that could include Phil.

That wasn't "trigger happy".. that was Dan being stupid. Walk in to the other's camp waving a gun? Its actually bad writting but i'll forgive it.

I don't know why, but Radzinky's "I've just got shot by a PHYSIST!" line cracks me up so much 😂 Eloise telling Daniel that going to the island would make her proud of him is so f'ing sad. When she was pregnant with Daniel she already knew his fate and was compelled to see it through because as she said, the "conflict is bigger than all of us."

Imagine being down in the Swan with Radzinsky, just the two of you. It was 50-50 which of them was gonna eat a gun first I bet.

"I am not allowed to eat chocolate before dinner" - adult Charlotte in time travel jumps episode died after this words.

It's 100 episode of Lost! Very special! and this is where Lost actually begins. No joke. Here Eloise and Widmore got their motivation to make sure 815 survivors and Desmond will come to the Island in 2000s cuz they meant to. RIP Daniel Faradey. He was a nail in the center of a wheel that from now on his parents will keep turning.

Remember when Eloise told Jack that a very smart man stopped figuring out where the island was and instead focused on where it was going to be? That's part of what Faraday was working on while he was in Ann Arbor. Also he was instrumental in developing some of the stations, most likely the Swan, the Looking Glass and the Lamp Post.

Daniel stated very clearly that he WROTE EVERYTHING in the Journal he kept to help him "remember" everything about the Dharma Initiative and presumably EVERYTHING that he experiences and learns about the events of the island and the people that he interacts with while there. He got that journal (blank) as a gift from his mother in the "future". His Mother (in the past) is now in possession of that very "completed" journal, which details the events and people that will come to pass. Presumably....Daniel´s final entry does not speak of events he has not experienced....like....Desmond being shot in the future by Ben....Perhaps we now have some insight in how "Eloise" knew so much in the future...in encounters like meeting Desmond when he attempts to buy a ring.

14:30 - "AHHHH... I'm Eloise!!" - You're a time lord, Ellie! This episode is right up there with The Constant. So many reveals & uniting of characters for one episode. Daniel Faraday's one of my favorite characters, so it was a hard episode to take at first viewing, wanted to see more from him. But he sure came back with a bang. Such a pivotal variable for what happens next. Cool to see how Daniel & Desmond are even more intricately connected to Penny, Widmore & Eloise.

I have to ask: when you said "I can play piano better than Davy Jones", which Davy Jones were you referring to? The one in the band The Monkees, David Bowie (whose real name was David Jones), or the one in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies? And about Juliet asking if Sawyer still has her back, it's because Sawyer called Kate "Freckles", his name of endearment for her. Juliet had already questioned if their relationship could hold up with the Jack, Kate, and Hurley coming back to the island - specifically Kate. Sawyer calling Kate "Freckles" was a trigger of sorts, that told her that Sawyer still had feelings for Kate. And that is why she gave Daniel the pylon code - because she realized that their dream life in Dharmaville had come to an end.

Absolutely insane that she lived with the guilt of killing her son but still sent him to the Island to die by her own hand.

You'll sort of get a clue next episode why she no longer knows. It also sort of explains how she knew about Desmond in the 1990s when he went to buy the ring. Meanwhile, if you ever rewatch this episode, watch Eloise's every interaction with Daniel during his flashbacks. The pain on her face, both the middle aged version and the older version. You can tell she knows and she hates what she's doing. They definitely turned her from "time lord lady" to a really complex character.

Thing is, Eloise has always been proud of Daniel. But she had to be firm and removed because she knew she had to send him to his fate. But, as having been an Other, she also knew there was a bigger issue at hand that was much more important.

I had that issue of Wired magazine. I wish i still had it. It was an issue that dealt with superpowers and how they could exist in real life.

One of the hardest episodes for me, poor Dan
