The main problem with season six is there’s not enough Desmond, not enough Faraday and not enough Ben, which happen to be my two fav characters on the show and my favorite “bad guy”…but its still a great season! Bangers incoming!
12:00 to 14:00... yeah... that's why some of us insisted so much in the "now Lost begins" thing, because the story it's more about the final season(s) than seasons 1-3 (however great those seasons are, they're just some kind of prequels). It's worth it. The story is larger than life, certainly larger than Oceanic 815.
LOST Season 6 is the core conflict of the series Jacob vs MiB - everything in the seasons leading up was them playing their pieces on the chess board from afar. Now Jacob is gone through the MiB’s plot to kill him - there is no longer any playing the chess game from afar so yes the monster is now active and ready to enact his plan - what that is - right now it is not all clear - the writers maintain mystery around the show’s end game to the end - but yes it makes for a different show. Now everything is coming into the open and so a show which was great because of everything concealed beneath the surface - or down the hatch/rabbit hole - it’s like a magician starting to reveal his magic tricks - it’s in a way more satisfying in earlier seasons the less we knew and the more space we had to imagine. The writers are finally showing their grand plan for the show’s end game - what the island is, why is it important, who Jacob and MiB are and their end goals, why were our characters chosen - so it’s major stuff but it’s incredibly challenging for it to match up to great infinite perfect sensation of endless possibilities we had in our mind - I think the writers had a great and near impossible challenge in making a final season that matches the satisfaction of the mystery of seasons 1-5. It’s great to get the answers but nothing ever compares to seeing the magic trick before you know the why. I think they did a great job overall but yes I agree it is the most flawed, at least in its early episodes, but it’s all a product of how GREAT it has been til now - but once you get past the halfway mark of this season and it starts moving to the grand finale I think they do a great job. I can’t wait to see your journey to the greatest series finale ever! 😍
13:17 I can tell you this the ending was written while episode ONE was being filmed. So season one is like a plane taking off and MOST of season six was the writers knowing EXACTLY where and how they wanted it to land. Darma, the others, widmore, time travel, the flashbacks, underwater stations, crazy animal training, helicopters and ships, were all amazing story telling methods- but they were never the actual story. Season 6 concludes with the actual story of Lost. Some people love it, and MANY don’t. As I said, the writers had over half of this season sketched out and the last episode almost fully written when the pilot was being filmed.
Dogan told Sayid, don't let him talk to you, cuz if he will - it will be too late. You missed that part. MIB-Locke said "Hello, Sayid" before Sayid used the knife.
EXACTLY... That's The Drawback of When Reactors TALK During Reacting. Crucial Dialog Significant To The Plot ALWAYS Gets Missed. To Be Fair. Elie Moses is Better at Pausing Before Talking but Even He sometimes gets caught talking over dialogue.
@@TankObadiahTV I think people were too harsh on Elie pausing when he wanted to talk, now he is holding himself until the scene is done and it's not working well - he is rather distracted or says something over. I loved it when he paused the video and talked as much as he needed, no matter if it's middle of the scene.
Sayid had more than one love die in his arms. It was definitely specifically worded to be ambiguous about whether he means Shannon or Nadia. I say Shannon. Because the Sayid sideways in this episode explicitly underscores that although he loves Nadia, they aren't meant to be together.
I think you're right to feel that with season 6 (and many of us did too) because there is an aimlessness but I think a lot of our questions, motivation, beliefs and attitudes nearly always mirror the characters themselves. They are lost right now, they thought Jughead was the answer but they have been thrown back in to the present with little or no direction. Now they are going with the flow, trying to figure out what the hell is going on and they're catching wind that a guy called Jacob has had something to do with it and that Locke has been manipulated/used by the smoke monster. When the characters start to get the pieces to the jigsaw, you will too. I know a lot of us were anxious until a key episode when we breathed a sigh of relief and remembered the writers do know what they're doing. It just always comes later than expected and in unexpected ways.
I'm a bit of a season 6 hater up to this point. I think the best thing that could be done with Lost is a fan edit where things like "Stranger in a Strange Land" flashback is removed from season 3, and some other things cleaned up. But season 6 up to this point could've been trimmed down to reduce the amount of dullness lol.
The temple stuff just feels so akward. People walking in and out like its a pub. Feels like managers that are not in control. Even this episode Kate just threatens the guy to see Claire, he is all scared and allows this but then says you only have 2 minutes acting like he is in control. What if she wants 10 minutes? Its all so off
Yay, finally I managed to catch up with all Christmas and New Year episodes! Had to watch 4 reactions in one day. Happy New 2025 year, Losties! Wish you all peace, health and prosperity. Namaste and good luck. 🎄🌴🎄🌴🎄
Yes... the Light Side will need in the last 30 seconds to drive 95 yards to score a Touchdown and then the 2-pt conversion, then recover the onside kick, and finally a Hail Mary to win the game.
Btw, it's really hard for someone to have a fresh take on Lost after 20 years but your sports analogies are fresh as hell and super entertaining. Love it every time.
Keamy at his nicest cooking eggs. The LAX timeline is fun but heartbreaking to revisit. Oh we made it and then - wait, this isn’t right. A fun ride. Nothing to comment on the island side though. The last season means so much more with a re-watch. It was definitely jarring going from the perspective of Dharma in 5 to joining the Others/Hostiles in 6, I will give you that though. Ben will be un-locked soon, don't worry.
Yes, it's true, s6 i the most unlike LOST, that's why so many people who only watched LOST once and/or misunderstood the final episode - they felt disappointed. It took me many rewatches to like and enjoy s6 for the same reason.
“For every man there is a scale. On one side of the scale there is Good. On the other side Evil. This tells us how the scale is balanced. Yours tipped the wrong way.” That is a haunting statement 😧
Crazy seeing a fight scene like that in lost. The look on sayids face is so scary, n Ben is freaked the f out. N then sayid walkin slow mo through all the bodies is so cool. Season 6 is defo my least favourite but give it a couple more eps n ul start really enjoying it again. Love how when sayid is alone in the jungle before MIB Locke comes, the birds all stop singing, it’s so eerie. Kate doing that thing u do when u find urself on a bus/train/underground surrounded by absolute psychos so u just keep ur head down n try n b invisible.
Season 6 does take a fair few episodes to feel like it gets going. Lots of standing around and waiting. But things are happening, final pieces being put in place.
You're worried that they sidelined Ben? Lol. Safe to assume that you've seen the next epsidoe already so I bet your feeing different after that masterpiece of an episode. And I still feel confident that you'll love this season on rewatches. I was feeling the same way you are on my first watch of this season. And so were a lot of fans. But like I said, the next episode is gonna be a fun reaction to watch.
Presume ur near to watching the end by now. I remember not enjoying it when it first came out years ago. But rewatching it I thought it was absolutely amazing. All il say is - Ur gonna hav questions. Ur supposed to hav questions. All that matters is, did u enjoy it? The more u read about it and understand things and rewatch, the better it is. Reminds me of when u study a poem in school and find it OK n then the English teacher breaks it down n u realise it’s a masterpiece. I’m someone who appreciates the pausing rather than talking over scenes but suggest u just try n take in the finale as much as u can to get “lost” in the emotion. Also, LISTEN TO EVERY SINGLE WORD in the last ep , They’r important 🙂
John bought into the Others, wanted to be their leader... so why is it weird for Cindy? I don't buy into the brainwashed theory. If that was the case... why wouldn't they do it to Juliet when she got uppity? They didn't. There seem to be lots of Others, and they all seem pretty happy to be Others... and believe in that way of life. Seems like it struck a chord in Cindy, too.
IM SO GLAD to read this. I was part of the team that was brought in for THESE TWO EPISODES. 6x15 more-so, and it was a very risky move. I’m glad you enjoyed both stories and the connections we made.
@joshuacoldwater They are similar to the cold opens for me. Lots of reveals with unexpected outcomes that make you forget what show you're watching, then it gets all tied back in and you feel comfortable knowing what's going on, then more reveals and story progression you don't expect. Have good set design too, didn't feel like they were just filming on Hawaii or in premade homes.
Agreed, I don’t care for all the temple stuff in the first few episodes. It’s a bit boring. But you’re right, there is a general pace change in the whole season. A lot of that is driven by changes happening in certain characters though. I promise this season gets really fun
"Locke" spoke first. Sayid was doomed to fail instantly. RE Cindy ... I can't remember if this came up in the comments at the time Jack saw her when he was locked in the cage (season 3) but it's heavily implied all the tailies were brainwashed in room 23 and that's why they're Others without question. Wanted to make sure you understood that. Ben actually terrified, backing away from Sayid ... I do have to say the temple stuff is not my favorite Lost but if you have scared Benjamin Linus...man. Kate at the end with her "WTF is happening?" face while Sayid and Claire are fully possessed.... oh boy. Kate might be in over her head.
How do you beat an opponent whose fighting moves are visibly better than yours? You have to make those moves less fluid by putting the opponent in an environment that will limit their movements. Here, Sayid fights Dogen in the water, which evens out their abilities and gives Sayid his chance to win. RIP Dogen, Lennon and the Temple.
man i miss the old iMDB message boards.. we had so many crazy theories and discussions going on there before they decided to just delete everything.. there was actually one guy we suspected was a writer on the show who knew way too many details and stuff 😂👍
I'm with Ellie. No matter how many times I watch the show I also kinda laugh when I see Cindy in full Other mode. Kinda stinks for her and the kids that they weren't allowed at the barracks with hot showers and comfy beds.
Eli there's something about stabbing the MIB BEFORE he speaks to you. If you let him speak, then its too late. He said hello to Sayid and THEN Sayid stabbed him. Sayid blew it. I don't feel his heart was completely in it. It was a half-hearted try. As to the tone/pacing of S6, this is the denouement. Act 3. Time to wrap things up. Not too many more mysteries to solve. You are right that Ben is different now. You got a good Ben ep coming, directed by a b-list actor (Mario Van Peebles) who's father's a semi-famous director. So, an actor directing actors. Love the guest-director spots.
I think the "don't let him speak" was just so MiB couldn't explain his side of the story and offer Sayid anything before Sayid tried to kill him, it's unlikely there was some magical effect to it.
This episode has the single worst line in the entire series. It's actually just one word. When the character fans called Lenin sees that Sayid has killed Dogan, he calls Sayid an "idiot" because this means the Temple is now vulnerable to attack. Sayid has just murdered someone and you're worried about it being a ... Tactical error? It feels like such an out of place concern given the circumstances. Taking someone's life is a lot more than being ... Dumb. "Hey, I'm cool with murder but this was really stupid, you moron!" The line is so cringe I wonder if it was an adlib.
😂😂 Yeah, that line always sticks out to no matter how many times I watch the show. Did he secretly hate Dogan? Because that's the not reaction to seeing your best friend dead. Plus, shouldn't you be on guard? You know Sayid has been claimed so maybe don't turn your back on him?
Seeing this i was thinking in the others and Dogen. They spent years on the island being loyal to jacob. And the guy choose as candidates some guys who just came, who they dont even want to be on the island or didnt care. They are like the worst candidates ever. Im totally with Ben. Nice job, he deserved to die. Now sayid isnt sayid anymore. Many episodes ago i comment about lost being too ambitious for his own good, with that freighter explosion, and the wheel and the island moving. Fx wise. I think this season is the worst in that aspect. Even when the temple looks pretty good. These kind of stories with themples, evil spirits, people turning bad. I felt like they need a big budget to be more believable. This season looks so old tv. Like Lost World or Xena ha. Lost turned into regular television. The black smoke looks great in this episode though, i think is his best apparition ever. Still i prefer the scene of season 4 of the smoke killing the soldiers.
btw top rated episode this season is episode 9 so u can set ur expectations according to that. not everyone was happy with how they dealt with season or ending but episode 9 was praised by everyone.
@ i mean same thing is happening to elie atm, he got caught up with dharma, time travel stuff that he forgot basic themes of first season or all stuff that ran in background. there was always jacob stuff, faith theme, dead people appearing. just like some of the islanders, they lost the plot, some of them looking for answers while others wanna see their loved ones.
@@TolgaCO I feel Lost gave all the answers. And the ones that were not given were written so good that they were ambiguous, meaning, you can answer that the way it suits you best. I'm pretty sure he'll get all of it by the end, don't worry about it ;)
Season 6 might be the most difficult season for me to rewatch and I actually skip through your reactions because not so much is happening in the episode or I don’t like it. Don’t get me wrong Lost is and will be my all time favorite show and I LOVED the ending, maybe the best I’ve ever seen but especially until episode 11 and with the exception of episode 9 everything moves so … awkwardly and uninspiring-ly that is just hard for me to rewatch
Also, after the end and knowing what’s the deal with the flash sideways there is simply no reason to spend half of the screen time with them, it’s just time not well spent
Elie is so not in tune with s6! It's amazing, how Elie's joyful essence is so opposite of what s6 vibe is. It's even sometimes hard to watch for me. Such a difference in energies!
@@John_Locke_108 you think so? I honestly don't expect it, Elie is just so full of life and energy, and it's my problem, not his. Elie, just be yourself!
ben was a very popular character so they had to redeem him and make him not evil anymore. season 6 has some very good episodes and i LOVE the ending, but in general it's a chore to go though and the temple stuff is boring and nonesensical
14:36 The Ben knowing wassup with the MIB is not the same Ben anymore. What could he possibly do? He has no power anymore. And he knows it. You've seen the terror on his face twds MIB. He's just obeying and keeping quiet. (What cowards do. Sns) You already know all this. I'm just restating it. For perspective's sake. 👍

I disagree.
I make good eggs 🥚

btw top rated episode this season is episode 9 so u can set ur expectations according to that. not everyone was happy with how they dealt with season or ending but episode 9 was praised by everyone.
I still can't understand anyone that doesn't deal with the ending of Lost. IMHO, the show with the best ending ever.
Bad thing to do. Praise the man in black. That's sad. People do what they can only to survive.
Elie is so not in tune with s6! It's amazing, how Elie's joyful essence is so opposite of what s6 vibe is. It's even sometimes hard to watch for me. Such a difference in energies!
That energy is about to change I'm sure. The pieces of the chess board are almost all setup and the season is about to take off.
@@John_Locke_108 you think so? I honestly don't expect it, Elie is just so full of life and energy, and it's my problem, not his. Elie, just be yourself!
The temple stuff is the worst of the whole show. I don’t hate it, but easily my least favorite part of Lost. But we’re past it now
ben was a very popular character so they had to redeem him and make him not evil anymore. season 6 has some very good episodes and i LOVE the ending, but in general it's a chore to go though and the temple stuff is boring and nonesensical
and ive said this before but season 5 forward all sun does is "husband my husband wheres my husband" zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ALSO the man is black was right about humans being trash. see how easily they all turned once they heard jacob had died
The problem this season was that "alternate reality" or whatever. They wasted a lot of time focusing on it
Oof this gets soooo bad. I legitimately getting angry watching this season on ABC back then.
