I feel Elton John doesn't get enough credit for his performances.... the guy sits in a chair whilst playing the piano whilst singing and STILL has the energy and charisma to engage the audience and gets them and me hyped the f**k up! 😂 absolute legend
Monitoring was not the best at live aid. Guessing they tried tried to crack his monitor so he could hear everything over the crowd. This would cause feedback issues especially when he turns his head towards the audience
There's the same problem when queen played crazy little thing at live aid. Must have been something that happened along during the night. Maybe focused too much on volume as opposed to sound quality. But that's something that added to the raw sound magic of live aid
@@vidkid1067 Yeah, that might be the problem! At 2:03 you can actually see that some technician is trying to move his monitor. Next frame you see Elton talking to him, or the cameraman.
@Alan Vaytsman I don’t think so, since there’s only the mixed track available, not the individual instruments on separate tracks. Probably some improvements to the overall quality can be made, but I think the roughness and imperfection adds perfectly into the “live” feeling this event had!
@@JimGeigerMusicpot actually, he started smoking like crazy and it hampered his voice permanently in the beginning of 1986 and he eventually developed vocal chord nodules that year which had to be surgically removed

I’ve seen Elton live in cairns Australia, and his concert was Awesome. I couldn’t believe I was seeing him live. He sang I’m still standing. it’s my very favorite of all his songs.
This reminds me so much of the early 80s. I would give ANYTHING to go back to the summer of 1983 Best year of my life. It never got better, just kept getting worse.
You could never know what it's like Your blood like winter freezes just like ice And there's a cold lonely light that shines from you You'll wind up like the wreck you hide behind that mask you use And did you think this fool could never win? I think I read something about Elton causing this because he wanted to use his piano rather than the one setup for everyone and his vocal mic was attached to that as well. They were moving acts on an off so quickly there wasn't the time to check everything perfectly.
🙌What impressive music!! That music never get age!! Adore creation dear Elton !! Very talanted musician and singer ,no words, only emotions!! Thank you, dear Elton ,for everything!! Respect from Lithuania!!🌾🇱🇹🌾
I always loved this version! Thanks for posting it! The way it just starts with a few piano chords...then kicks in with the band and horns. I also love the minor feedback through the speakers. It really captures that chaos and spontaneity of that hot July day. I still remember watching it all day when I was 16!
Thank GOD they patched this one up to be listenable - though I still love the original with the feedback and out of key guitar, seems they touched up his voice just a bit too..
My favourite song from Elton,………I am still standing and will continue going forward………we all have a story,…….keep being Amazing,….keep going Strong…Love to you……..💪💋
Thanks for this , will be nice to see the set FINALLY complete once the next track is uploaded. Hope for a up-scaled Blu Ray of the whole concert one day...

Love this so much. I saw Elton John in Philadelphia in 2006 at Fairmount Park. It was so fun, and I was so impressed with Philly! What a song and what a rockin beat!
I was mesmerised by Elton's performance. Watching his stubby hands producing that sound. I remember seeing him getting pissed off with the sound even at the time, but it was a huge performance, the horns are amazing, and Kiki 🥰 looked hot.😜 Its no secret he was at a low ebb personally at the time, but live he still kicked ass.
It is great to hear this mixed better although I don’t know what happened to the Bryan adams songs which have been made private it would be great to hear all the Bryan adams songs in the complete set using the version of Tears Are Not Enough uploaded a few years ago
Nice clean up in the mix ... Davies guitars are muted to block out his foot pedal transposition problems... and his solo is dirtier and clearer... it's great... thank you Live Aid.
2:00 he definitely not playing the drums there.. so the drums area back up track because the rapid percussion he never does with his left hand on the snare
Terrible sound, in both it's to air mono and stereo mixes the broadcast version occasionally borders on unlistenable, which they weren't able to fix with 2004 technology. Take Me To the Pilot is also missing from the DVD set. If memory serves me rightly, of the artists who played more than one song only U2, Dire Straits, Queen, David Bowie and Eric Clapton have there entire sets included. A number of artists, The Hooters, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Pat Methany, Billy Ocean, The Four Tops, Bernard Watson, Bo Diddley and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young don't feature at all, neither do the beamed in performances by Kool and the Gang and Prince and the Revolution.
It would've been pretty cool to see the Rocketman movie cross over with the Bohemian Rhapsody movie here at Live Aid, and just have Elton come on stage as Rami Malek and the rest of Queen leave
