Elton John - Crocodile Rock (Live At Madison Square Garden)

- ‘Crocodile Rock’, the initial release from ‘Don’t Shoot Me I’m Only The Piano Player’, was the first Elton single ever to reach #1 in the US, leading the way for a half-dozen more to follow over the next four years, and was his second Top 5 song in the UK in less than a year.
Reminiscent of such 1950s classics as Bobby Darin’s ‘Dream Lover’, Johnny And The Hurricanes’ ‘Red River Rock’, and especially Pat Boone’s ‘Speedy Gonzalez’, this up-tempo number about a fictional dance craze quickly became a fan favorite and elicits enthusiastic “Nahhh-na-na-na-na-nah’s” at every show, including this one - Elton’s ‘One Night Only’ performance at Madison Square Garden in October 2000 - and on his current ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour.

Elton is one of few musicians who can make crowd filled with 50 year olds act like a teenager right when they all sing the "La la la la" part
What about 60 year olds!!
@@dannymanny6917 truly is
I was one of those 60 year olds that thought his show was one of the best.
Дааааа, здесь все встали и поют, круто, у нас в России незнаю, было ли подобное. Респект
And the 60 plus!
When Rocketman is nominated for numerous Oscars in 2020, Elton should open the ceremony with this.
Yees!
Gonna go out on a limb here and say he would open with rocketman instead
With Taron
may probably a medley
I wanna see him on The Red Carpet. He had so hard life and now look at him, he is a legend :)
Legends like Elton John will live forever - he will never die
AJ Ward 👍
Agreed. Freddie Mercury ;¬;
Elton johns legend will live on forever, his music will never die, I could listen to him forever and it never gets old.
Agreed for sure👍😁
This is factually incorrect. He will, at some stage, most certainly die
At 2:00 my mom and dad are on the right side. they love telling the story of how they were sitting in the bar and one of workers offered them two seats on the stage (where the audience is) and how amazing and chance of a lifetime it was. I am so jealous but love watching this and hearing just how amazing Elton was
Thats soo cool💛
Meg G cool
I'm seeing him in December in Melbourne, Australia as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour I can't wait
Meg G that's awesome ❤️
What year was this? It sure is a breath of fresh air seeing concert goers just enjoying the music, singing, dancing, etc. without the need to record on smart phones.
Freaking awesome when everyone starts joining in at the “Laaaaa la la la la laaa” :D
This, to me, is one of the best pop song to come out of the '70's.
His concerts are golden. I love that Elton is doing fundraisers on RUclips!
Helton
Jhon si Minas Gerais vai parar tudo Belo Horizonte sou fã dele
Yes his fundraisers are amazing. L way to go Hercules
Yes I love his fundraisers! Way to Hercules
i love how this person is everywhere
Owirw
Elton John is one of those musicians who can make the crowd go wild.
It's what Bill the Cat always hoped to do, but he kept getting his tongue tangled up in the mic stand. And then there was the recurrent hairball problem...
Me last year: gets addicted to Queen
Me this year: gets addicted to Elton John
This is literally me omg
Love both
me too!!!
me
Omg same
I will always be so happy that my parents were born in 72 and 73 because I knew about classics like this from such a young age.
Szkoda że nie żyje Freddie Mercury
The movie rocks like a crocodile
Laaaaaa lalalala
Sick scene on the movie ;)

This comment was cheese on toast
And so meaningful! I was reading that it was that night at the Troubador when Elton was born as a star ⭐️
loved how slow he starts the song
Getting goose bumps when the crowd takes control of the lalala. Unbelievable
Long live sir Elton John
Still one of my favorites after all these years.
Even now his voice is fantastic. Some rock singers sound super messed up as they age but he sounds amazing as always.
Snail Succ And after all the hard drinking and drugs. Very impressive.
Like axl rose🙁
Like fine wine, his voice only gets better.
I think it might have sth to do with his background in classic music, being aware of different singing techniques to produce the same sound. He’s kept at the same level but I do feel his delivery is slightly different than in the 70s
Not from age. Drug use unfortunately.
After the deaths of Elvis, John Lennon,Freddy Mercury and Michael Jackson,he's the last living legend....a great genius.
Not the last one!! Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Mick Jagger and many many others
True!!
Elton has always been around making great Music, won't be the same if he really retires, everyone will miss him!!
He said he would continue making music until the day he dies. He doesn't want to tour or be away from home while his boys are school age, which is completely understandable. I'll miss his performances but hopefully they'll still be active in the music industry
CATHERINE READ oh, he recently said he’s retiring, sad day, said his son is way more important and wants that time w him. 👏 !
Пусть лучше он идёт на пенсию, чем умереть на сцене, как наш Градский. У него много планов на будущее, есть семья и он хочет жить как и все. Это правильно
I love this song 🎵 ❤️, Elton John is one hell of a performer 🎉🎉. His music 🎶 🎵 is just something special and his unique style is 2nd to none🎉🎉
❤
I've been addicted to Elton John, Queen, Prince , so many others all my life! I can thank my Aunts and Uncles! Especially my Uncle Steve he gave me my first Albums! And the rest is history! Lolol.
Heard the song when it just released. Playing pinball and smoking Texan plain sigaretts. Was 16 year's old in 1973. That music will never die. What a great time on the music front. Today I am 66 and still enjoy it as much.
What is up with people saying he's not good anymore? Sure he doesn't sound like he did like 40 years ago but no one does? Still sounds great here and has amazing energy for a 60 something year old man.
I saw him live back in 2006 and he sounded fabulous! :)
Reggie's voice is like wine. It's getting better as he gets older.
Birds Are Dinosaurs they better get a musical career themselves with the tenor Elton John has.
Try age 73
he is 73
This song will NEVER fail to make me sing along
This man can still give those keys z a pounding. Wild man and a 1 of a kind.
One of the best rock songs ever hands down 🤚👇
Wish I could've seen him in the early 2000's.
sargentrowell81 me too, he was at his peck in the 70s
Me too.
@@twintina17 peak?
Blessed to of been able to appreciate this artist in my life time.
To be honest, I've never heard this song before the movie, but to see such an enormous crowd going wild hearing the song is very touching. It's like they once again live back their youth
I heard this on record disc in the middle 70s... during party time on weekends by one in the neighborhood in Butterworth Malaysia next the RAAF airbase

What I Just Love about this Performance is that he really sings live and sounds amazing!😍

Elton John would blow Paul McCartney off the stage.
One of Sir Elton’s best rock songs
Elton says playing at The Garden in NYC is like playing in his own living room at home.....He loves it.....it shows his comfort level.....
Elton is wonderful for ever
Brilliant song and I've known the lyrics since the 1970's. Haha. Thanks Elton for great family memories.
Nostalgia 🤩
Belezura!Lindeza!Elton John é muito Massa!🙏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍🇧🇷🌹
Everyone looks so happy. They had such a great time :)

God his concerts are so much fun! This was always the best part of his concerts.
The best rock n roll song. I remembered when this song is played my legs can’t wait to shake
I remember when crocodile rock was young ... and I still do! Still lives for me :)
SIR ELTON JOHN- I humbly THANK THEE for bringing /ringing GOOD MUSIC 2 this world. I do bow-knees bad. Love with respect and smile.,Karita.
This is the best this has ever sounded live! He was in good voice, the band was firing on all cylinders, and whoever mixed this knew what they were doing!!
I’ve loved this song ever since listening to it when I was very young with my mother. It has always been one of my favorites and always reminds me of singing along to it when my mom now that she’s gone💜
What a lovely memory to have! Musical memories bring back so much
Sem comentários esse cara é o artista, sem milongas, ele é o músico completo nossa quem me dera ir num show desses..
Getting to see Elton perform this live in SF and sing along with such a huge crowd was one of the most special moments of my life. I listen to this song whenever I want to feel better. :)
One of several EJ favorites. Still got the 1978 LP album «A Single Man» in the living room, where «Song for Guy» is the best. The song is a tribute to Guy Burchett: «Guy Burchett was our messinger boy who was tragically killed on his motorcycle at the age of seventeen»
He's just incredible!!
I love those middle age people dancing, they look like they went back to their 20's again
Im one of those old ppl. i use to listen to him at 20 I'm 59 now. That really speaks of his talent to span the ages.
@@suzyq100 Great! My dad is one of them too. And yes, i totally agree ;)
I was 12 when this came out.❤❤❤
Been to many of his shows, and I love when everyone chimes in on Crocodile Rock!
Love this live version
Me encanta Elton John,y no sabía, que había tenido una vida tan mala, pero salió adelante,lo ví en reportaje, es un tipo muy talentoso.abrazo de oso.
Sing this at my funeral so everybody can start dancing that I'm rejoicing in heaven
Truly one of a kind still going strong after all those years!
I remember This great song ! from my childhood ....
Sounds great Crocodile Rock ! Flashback .... I love song s who , still is standing ! Happy new year 2019 ) to everybody who loves music !!!!
Una y mil veces. Cada vez que suena este tema por Elton y su banda pues el resultado siempre es: PIEL DE GALLINA. Excelente. Una época en plenitud. Vaya regalo.
Last year : bohemian Rhapsody
Now : rocketman
2025 : Starman
2030 : Elvis

Niki Flazy DAVID BOWIE IS COOMING WIOUUUUUU
@@kandlela716 we really do
I would like to team up with Matthew Vaughn and Marv Films to turn "Lord Of The Dance" into a major motion picture set to Michael Flatley's life and the 1997 stage phenomenon starring Aiden Turner as Michael Flatley, Siaorse Ronan as Bernadette Flynn, Domnhall Gleeson as Daire Nolan and Maura Higgins as Gillian Norris.
I've loved this song ever since I can remember.
Elton isn't part of music. He IS music.
About 20 years ago saw him and Billy Joel together in concert, one of my favorites.
This song never gets old ❤️🏅
Elton John. His songs call me every day. always sweet The song he left behind is a song that will be remembered by his descendants, not by his previous generation but by his present generation. I'd like to see him at least once.
i sang this at a concert and it was a joy to be singing it!
como sempre Elton John e suas belas canções
All these years I loved Elton's music, but until I saw Rocketman *I had no clue how truly gifted this incredible man was!* I adore this song!!!!!
Elton, Freddie and Rod, my favourites singers !!!!!!! love they forever
He should be in Super Bowl halftime and perform this song
Genius
3-25-23 happy birthday Mr. John... thanks for the Journey, I enjoyed the ride. & Of course skipping...s🪨...👌
Saw him in Pittsburgh last week and it was such an amazing show. Loved it! Him and his music is just amazing
I wish I was born in the 50s so that I could live the 60s with The Beatles, 70s with Sir Elton Hercules John and the 80s with Freddie Mercury and Queen.
I am making this comment so that whenever someone likes it I will be reminded of this masterpiece.
Hell YES ))))))A LEGEND" and my Fave Song live"))))THANKS from 2018 in Cambria,California ....CROCK ON""!!!
Very nice! Used to dance and sing to Croc. Rock when I was a little boy! MEMORIES!😁
Bro.i got goosebumps when everyone sung the Laaaa la la la la part
Indiscutivelmente a melhor interpretação de Crocodile Rock que já vi e ouvi👏👏👏
Essa música foi a música que inspirou pelados em Santos mamonas assassinas
One of the old best ones,I will never forget when I first heard this,he's just awesome
He's the best of the best.
This is the best song in the world Elton John
This song is nearly 50 years old and this man. Him and Stevie Wonder. They know how to warm up an audience. Their likes may or may not be seen again, but we need to cherish them
I never relieved how many great songs he has. Everyone knows his classics but there’s so many other great songs.

Many years after my grandma passed away, my mom who is now in a wheel chair told me that my grandmothers favorite song to roller skate to was crocodile rock. She didn't like rock music but she loved this song. Im overweight and am working to lose weight and hope to one day be able to roller skate to this song like my mom and grandma did.
Me sinto honrado em poder admirar esse talento vivo!
By far my biggest guilty pleasure is Sir Elton. This song is a peak of him In my opinion. Absolutely love it! Here's to hoping he tours again after lockdown! X
Timeless, just an absolute timeless artist.
Got a baby on the way in 20 weeks and my Elton collection will be their introduction to the world, musically.

Elton and Bernie collaborated on this song, neither of them want to be remembered for it. They thought it was a pop sell out. BUT, it’s now a classic because it’s a good song and fans love it.
They identify so strongly with the song. Like a trip through time- to that pleasant haven from long ago.
So pumped to see him in December!
This guy really don’t know what is be out of rhythm!❤️❤️true king 🤴
