Rebellion was in the air in America in 1971. The unpopular Vietnam war was still raging with no end in sight. Protesters were on the streets everywhere struggling mightily to end the war. Used to watch the evening news and see 100,000 protesters trying to break down the fences around the White House. This song reflects that strong anti-authoritarian streak and makes a song relateable to young children, who naturally will feel the onus of obediance put on them by the institution of school. Brilliant song!

Open to corrections here, but the lead singer is one Vincent Furnier who took the stage name "Alice Cooper", as the story goes, when they were playing on a ouija board, and it came up that "Vincent Furnier IS Alice Cooper". The name stuck. This is his original band in the period 1969-75, until his album in 1975 "Welcome to My Nightmare" where he went solo. He still continues to this day to go by the stage name "Alice Cooper".

Since you like Alice Cooper, you might also like a group called Twisted Sister.
