- Here we are one of our favorite local watering holes, BJ’s. We’re playingthe Storyville Blues, also known by it’s earlier title and originally composed by Maceo Pinkard, Those Draftin’ Blues, 1917.

What better way to start the day than with a dose of Tuba Skinny's best! Lovely!
A nice cup of coffee and a nice dose of Tuba Skinny, a perfect start to any day. Thank you all for that.
Nothing llike a nice reedition of an oldie to make the sun shine on a cloudy day. Thanks to the greatest band of it's kind.
What a lovely, relaxed performance of this tune! The teamwork is exemplary: the players respond so well to each other. For anyone who needs such information, 'Storyville Blues' - played here in the key of A flat - has two strains. They may be considered as the Verse of 16 bars (8 + 8) and the Chorus also of 16 bars (8 + 8). You can hear the Verse (00:19 - 00:50 and 00:51 - 01:21). The Chorus is then played six times (first 01:22 - 01:52) and is used as the basis for improvisations respectively by trombone, clarinet, cornet, full ensemble and sousaphone. At 04:27, Shaye tells them (and hand-on-head signals) to go back to the Verse. So they play this once more to round off the piece, with a perfect gentle rallentando ending.
Who's the new guy on tuba? Some one keep an eye on him, I think he"s getting ready to throw an implement.....(see sign on back wall)
He certainly plays it very well in his solo.
