    Hey everyone, if you decide to do this just keep in mind that these self draining scuppers will only work if the scuppers are ABOVE the water line. Sometimes on these Native Watercraft kayaks they tend to sit a bit low, so the scuppers may not drain out 100% of the time. But they will do their job if they are above the waterline, which is still better than constantly having to remove them to drain water out. Thanks for watching!

      Now that you have been out on the water, how are the self-draining scupper performing?

    • @UntamedOutdoorsmen
      @UntamedOutdoorsmen  3 месяца назад +1

      @@DonMock1 they’re performing fine for me. But it seems like the success of these weighs heavily on the amount of weight you have in the kayak. The one way valve on these scuppers to only allow water to come in from the top picks and chooses when it wants to work. But whatever water that gets in the deck drains out over time from the other side. For me, even that is so much better than pulling the scuppers.

    I have the same exact kayak and mine filled up with a decent amount of water last weekend. I’m in south Florida so kept getting hydrilla stuck on the prop multiple times. Once I’d open it and start cleaning the weeds out I’d bring in a ton of water into the kayak. Definitely ordering some. Nice job and keep these hacks coming.

    Another main way water gets onto your deck is when boarding from the shallows. Great hack will be incorporating into my build. Doesn't hurt to carry a cheap carwash sponge with you as well to mop up small puddles.

    Looks like a good idea, if wanting to rid the deck of "little puddles" of water. Had to run last week in "High-Seas" and take out all the scupper plugs, as I was getting water over the bow going into the waves, and some water over the stern when I was going with the wind! (I know, "Don't go out in "High-Seas", but the fish were biting and no other boats were on the water!). Lol... I just wish Native Watercraft would come up with Self-Bailing Scupper Plugs - from the Factory...!

      Yeah we’re not planning on taking this into anything extreme so it should do fine for my needs. Thanks for watching!

      Personally I don’t fully remember but it was on Amazon and I believe it was 1/16 with the bulb on top to seal.

      Unfortunately we cannot send a picture on here but if you look on Amazon or maybe even a local Home Depot/ Lowe’s just try and find a door seal that fits on 1/16th inch and has a bulb right under it

      Also if you look in the description of this video I have a link saved where you can purchase the door seal

    Do you have the link to the car window door seal you used? I'm assuming you got it off amazon. I'm really interested in doing this but can't really see where you put it or how you did it. can you do a bonus clip on your next video where you give more details and a close up of your work for that seal? Lastly, when you do your first outing and for several outings after that can you update us on the drains you installed to remove any fears that they caused a problem; do they still drain when you are on the water etc. Really appreciate the video clips and tips!!!

    Just want to let everyone know about those old town self draining scuppers. You have to take them apart and clean them quite often or they don’t work right. I have a old town predator with these plugs. If you don’t keep them clean they will leak and let water in. So just a word of warning. In case you can’t get them out of the native plug. If you can’t then this hack could be dangerous

    • @UntamedOutdoorsmen
      @UntamedOutdoorsmen  6 месяцев назад +1

      I think dangerous is a strong word. Worst case scenario if it proves to be a problem on the water I’ll pull the scupper out or swap it out with one of the scuppers I didn’t add the valve to in the middle, and once I get home order a fresh set of scuppers for like 30 bucks. I think it’ll work fine tho we can always clean it out. Appreciate the tip!

      @@UntamedOutdoorsmen yeah just keep them clean. Mine get full of nasty. Depends a lot on where you fish. I’m alway going in nasty spots to find the big girls!!

      @@seanmyhre1305 don’t blame you lol. But I’ll keep an eye on that while it’s on the boat. Thanks!
