Welcome to Untamed Outdoorsmen! Outdoor enthusiasts and fishing experts Conor, Peter, and friends share their journey with you across southern New England on what it’s like to have a life-long passion for the outdoors. We make mainly fishing and kayaking content, but we aren’t afraid to venture into other topics, whether it’s how-to videos, fishing trips, and product reviews, to our popular build series playlists on Conor’s Native Watercraft Titan X 12.5 or Pete’s Native Watercraft Titan Propel 12, we'll be sure to share them with you and show you how amazing the world can be outside your front door! Our goal is to provide fun, user-friendly, and informative content to give you the guidance and advice we wish we had when we started our fishing careers.

Native Watercraft Titan X 12.5 - One Year Buyers Review
Hey everybody! Thank you so much for watching, there are a few things I forgot to talk about in the video that I will address here:
When talking about wiring, we are only referring to 12VDC connecting to a Motor Guide XI3 with about an 8ft distance between the motor and battery. Our setup is what works for that specific circumstance. That is in no way a universal rule for all motors, voltages, and vessels. If you're looking for a proper way to figure out how to properly size your wire gauge based on your specific circumstances, check out this great calculator we use in my career field almost daily: boathowto.com/wiresize/abyc/
I also never recommend a gas motor on a kayak. It significantly...

What did you end up doing with the Ascend 133X?
@@adamblomeke2609 junked it unfortunately
@ that’s too bad! It was a lot of fun watching you guys build it out! Native Titan came out awesome and I look forward to seeing some more content with it!
Great review! You touched on all of the relevant topics!
Glad you found it helpful!
I've never fished out of a kayak, always my canoe or a boat, but I can honestly say you've done a GREAT job with the review/tutorial. I've shared this vid with a few friends of mine that have pondered a Yak purchase. They definitely are state of the art and your modifications to make the vessel to your liking are impressive. If I was younger (OLD MAN NOW) I would HIGHLY consider one. Probably the ONLY disadvantage is no live well. They are certainly the wave of the future. Excellent review!!!
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video and appreciate the feedback!
@@UntamedOutdoorsmen You're welcome brother. I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, HAWG filled, New Year!!!
How has your Century Demon been fishing since you made this video?
It went pretty good. We used it for another 3 seasons after this video came out. At the end of this last season, I actually broke it in kind of an abnormal circumstance. Not the fault of the rod, I lifted the rod out from the passenger seat of my truck and when it was pressing up on the headliner it snapped at the tip. Probably developed some micro fractures in the top of the blank and that was the final blow. Could happen with any rod especially after all the use we put it through. Normally the warranty would cover it but since I bought the rod second hand that isn't an option, who knows how many years of use the first owner had on it too. But I do plan on eventually getting it professionally repaired out of pocket at some point because it is definitely the best rod I have ever owned.
Nice review you gave. Good advice for the "Casual" 'Yak Fisher-People out there, about the pedal drive! After letting some Friends fish in my Titans, they wouldn't have it any other way, though! They get to where they're going with the Newport motors, and use the pedal drive to fish. Once hooked-up with a Bass, they can back-pedal to pull it out to open water to fight and land. (They all own at least one or 2 'Yaks from different makers, but can't afford a Titan right now!). I've done a lot of "Mods" on my 12.6 "X" model, as you have, too. Thanks for all the great ideas.
@@MSmith-jf5wo thanks for watching. In that situation, the pedal drive can be extremely useful. That’s what I try to use mine for. That topic in the video was more for when people put their pedal drives in the attic and never take them out of the attic until it’s time to sell the kayak. There are PLENTY of people who use and love their pedal drives. But I think it’s a convo that needs to happen more especially when someone is considering purchasing. Thanks!
Great Video and Merry Christmas to you guys!
Thanks! You too!
Excellent review! I just got a Titan X 12.5 last weekend. Only had it on the water once so far, but I think you did a great job covering the pros and cons.
Thanks for watching! Glad the review was helpful!
Why are you saying everything is made of steel, when it is probably machined aluminum?
@@4WDJeepDriver probably the same reason people say Kleenex instead of needing a tissue or crock pot when they refer to a slow cooker. Just what i think of whenever i see it. My fault
great review! I agree with most of your pros and cons, I put my Titan X in the bed of my truck and because of the weight immediately got a trailer for after my first trip.
@@LeonardLuen thanks for watching
For the warranty, did you go through a dealer or did you handle it yourself?
@@doughodson5939 handled it directly through native. I think you’ve already asked me that on Facebook haha but yeah it was easy no issues
I might have. Sorry don't remember. Curious because if I ever have issues my dealer is 2.5 hrs away.
No worries. Yeah it wasn’t an issue. Try through your dealer first then go through native. Some dealers are better than others with that, for me, i was already talking to native so didn’t make sense to bounce between the two.
Thank! Great review!
@@doughodson5939 thanks for watching!
Great Thorough Review! 💯
Appreciate that!
Stainless steel hemos are my favorite to use the regular pliers to big and lunkie. I do not use braided line I tried it in the early 90's and never again. Monofilament line has not let me down like braided line don't Ker about how strong it is not worth the money. Only go neoprene cover's reel or rodß Nice job on the video guys.
Thanks for the comment, everyone’s got their own preferences!
Thanks for sharing your Christmas gift list my favorite part is Conner, “If you buy a mesh net for a friend that’s not a gift!” lol 😂 😂😂 you made my day boys Merry Christmas tight lines take care and God bless!

You as well
My net saved me from having to flip my kayak after getting stuck on a branch. Unfortunately half of it it still there.
Hey I know I’m late to the party but do you still have the same yak? Do you like it? Looking at getting one used, I’m a bigger guy is it pretty easy to stand up in?
@scottumberger9404 we do still have it. However we are planning on selling it. It was a good yak we do like it however with kayaks going more motor focused that’s the direction Pete is looking to go as well and with this Kayak we just can’t do that. Yeah it’s pretty easy to stand up. The quality is top notch for sure.
Gotta love them stickfish!
I really like the Kaden casting rod I have. I prefer fore grips on my spinning rod. I use a ML Zodias for finesse fishing.
Conor I’m so happy that you are both enjoying fall fishing thank you for sharing it looked like a really good time! How heavy of snow fall f do you guys get out there and will you be creating any ice fishing adventures? You guys had an amazing year on the water I really appreciate watching them and can’t wait to see what happens in 2025! Tight lines take care and God bless!
@@granvillej3316 we don’t typically go out once the nights get well below freezing. Especially on kayaks it’s a rough time. In our area it really doesn’t get cold enough anymore to safely ice fish so we don’t really do it. Usually from now until the start of next season we make videos in the garage on whatever people want us to make videos on and some ideas of our own.
Pickerel Palooza, that's great. A day named in honor of those TOOTHY CRITTERS!!! Long Pond does have its share of big bass in there though. Yes, trying to time it around the boat traffic can be challenging.
Hey everybody so two things. Yes, that was the final fishing video in the 2024 Fishing Season, thank you all so much for watching this year and we will be making a best moments video on this season that will be coming soon. Also, I again apologize for the audio issues in this video. They sounded better while editing and I hope you all still enjoyed. The camera I was using had no wind reduction built into it which usually helps with that jacket noise and obviously wind noise. Some great things coming!
Run two pieces of 1x1/8 aluminum angle iron horizontal to the stern with aluminum flatbar on top vertical 4 1/8 ss screws o ring and silicone and no more sagging floor and added battery support. Adds right under 2lbs to the hull
If you want to do that absolutely it’ll work. But the recommendation we made is less ”invasive” and intimidating for the average buyer.
Always SUCKS when a BIG bass misses your bait, you've seen it, and it doesn't return. Been there, done that. Did you try flipping a soft plastic back in her direction? Large worm, creature bait or a tube typically may do the trick. Usually, they'll strike a slower presentation after a fast-moving bait. Especially in the cooler water temps. You're so young brother, MANY MORE big fish opportunities coming your way for sure!!!
yes i did
@@UntamedOutdoorsmen I figured you did. I made the mistake this year of not doing that. I had a MASSIVE EXPLOSION while froggin' in Myles Standish and was so caught up in the strike that I wasn't thinking. Shame on me because I have a second rod prepared for those moments. I captured that strike on video if you want to check it out. ABSOLUTELY INSANE!!! especially in slow-mo.
A so so day fishing is whole lot better than a good day at work LOL thanks for sharing! Fish until you can’t it’s hard to stop tight lines take care and God bless!
Where did you get the guard. I am having issues sourcing it.
BerleyPros website
@UntamedOutdoorsmen I actually tried but my card wouldn't process yet it has on other places. Plenty of funds. My local kayak shop has had the same issue.
@UntamedOutdoorsmen I was hoping you got it local and could get me a link. Lol
@@gregphillips1334 no unfortunately I don’t that’s where I bought it. I believe that’s the only place BerleyPro is currently selling it.
@@UntamedOutdoorsmen yeah they have most the other Native yaks covered on Amazon but not the Titon X. May just have to take a different route. I sent them a message so we will see what happens. I appreciate your response. Lines tight good sirs.
Are y’all still fishing this time or year? Or pretty much done untill spring
@@brandongrzyb8081 no wrapped up about 2 weeks ago. These videos are from October I think we still have 2 more fishing videos.
I've only fished the north side from shore, that was COOL!!! Solid bass, her dark color was awesome. I'm sure there are some HAWGS cruising around in there, no pressure on that side. You'll have to give it a shot in the spring/pre-spawn.
Yeah we’ll be back over there for sure
There is 2 officially recorded 9s out of there .

Thank you for posting this!
This video is really good, thank you. I have a question. My lawn mower is two years old and I use it for 22 hours. Do I need to change my engine oil? Thank you.
@dundunlin5845 I’m not a John Deere dealer but probably not a bad idea. Motor oil gets old after about a year of sitting in an engine
@ ok thank you
Been using them for two seasons. Great boots but they are cold in the winter! Your feet will get cold. I wear mine with wool socks. My buddy puts feet warmers in his.
@@doughodson5939 that’s weird I don’t really feel the cold with these as long as I’m not barefoot. Everyone’s feet are different haha
Nice video brother, really brought out the beauty of SNIPPY. Keep putting in the time there, lots of big fish in there. Especially in the smaller, deeper pond, which we call Black Pond that connects. The tree lines with steep drop-offs can really spit some big fish. Pre-spawn and the fall are especially dangerous for that fishery. Good luck out there!!! And yes, ANY DAY FISHIN', regardless of the results, is a GREAT DAY!!! BEATS WORK, LOL!!!
13 minutes in and so far it's an add on accessory review 😅 13:22 Here we go...
@@Manuel_Z_Kayaks we left timestamps to everything and explained what we were going to talk about before we started. You could skip it if you wanted to.
Great vid!
I was really Wondering about the strength of the front handle, especially if a winch is used to pull the 'Yak back onto a trailer...! I've been pondering using a "U-Bolt" for a bow eye (Stainless Steel, of course) with a decent sized backing plate on the inside of the bow a few inches down from the top deck (picture a "Boat" with a bow-eye for the winch hook). The plastic should be thick enough, as long as there is a substantial backing plate on the inside of the hull. (More on that, later...If I go that route - that is! I've made boats before from plywood, and ALWAYS "beefed" them up in the bow area!). Lol
Just something I wanted to add to this video: It seems many people do not have that middle cut out in the front handle. Not sure when they changed it. If you don’t have it it’s no big deal, just take a screwdriver and unscrew the handle, add the sliders, and reinstall the handle. Maybe 15 seconds of extra work. Also, this handle is not technically advertised as a “winching” handle. It’s probably much safer now to winch with it, but still not technically its main purpose. There is warranty concern with winching, if it breaks from doing that, it’s not covered under your warranty. So do that at your own risk.
Way to GRIND out there. It's never over till it's over. The bite can turn on at any given moment that's for sure. Cool vid brother!!!
Good recap! (And I had a cameo at the end lol). Looking forward to next season. Happy Holidays!
@@J.Silva.Fishing you too Jim see you soon
Coner thank you for sharing your tournament event I really enjoyed it! Watching you guys crushing them in your non tournament content this was a real pleasure! To anyone considering buying a Garmin, know this. These units do not have a slot for a map card. To get any kind of maps you have to use the Garmin app, "ActiveCaptain" and download maps that other users might've have created. But, those users also have to upload their own maps to the site, before they're available to you. And if no one with the Garmin mapping feature has mapped the area you want and uploaded it, you're our of luck! That's also the ONLY way to get and install updates for your unit. Here's the rub, if your phone browser isn't new enough it won't support the app and there's no way to upgrade your browser. You literally HAVE to buy a new phone to use the app and update your unit! This would've been a deal breaker for me if I had known all this BEFORE purchasing my unit!
Nice video bro but that league was maybe a pound
@@jinzo9980 ok
Conner, Would have like to have seen your Motor Guide XI3 reistalled with the new plate on there just to see how much of the handle is useable. Nice video. Great work.
@kenestra123 noted. I’ll make sure to show that soon. However, I recommend taking the motor out when using the handle. It’s a very awkward and heavy angle with or without this handle upgrade with the motor in.
Helpful, thanks!
Glad it helped!
Nice kayak setup can’t wait to get my titan x to this level.
Way to grind though. Too bright and sunny, seeing Snippy so calm like that is NOT good. Windy conditions would have helped the bite. On another note, had the day off from work today, stuck a 6lb. 4oz. BEAST this morning, vid soon to come. What a GORGEOUS bass.
