In the desert of 1990s economic depression this album was an oasis of upbeat, happy, carefree escapism. 23 years later it's still my 'run too' album when I just need to smile.
My Dad (stepdad) is terminal and this was one of the songs in the charts when my mum met him. I always called him deeply dippy because he had a bald head at the time. Proper uplifting song even he smiles when I play it
This song is so uplifting! It marks a turbulent chapter in my life but was one of the tracks that got me through the tough times... and still does 23 years later! Can't believe it's been 23 years :/ Where does the time go?!
How can you Not like these guys.... this is a dippity do da happy go lucky song...that jams... Great Instrumentals... very very upbeat on a crappy day... ole!!!
I loved this song. I was always a bit of a fan of the more daggy bands and singers and Right Said Fred were perfect for me. Happy happy memories. I am deeply dippy...
I got a soft spot for "Right Said Fred" despite my punky/rock mainstream tastes...you need a bit of sunshine and a cheeky wink in the music mix at times..
Top song! Brings me back to the 90s before all the fun died. Richard is actually not only a great bloke but a great musician who played for Bob Dylan and David Bowie amongst many others. Max respect for Richard and the guys.
@@jrb4935 History 1989-1991: Formation Prior to forming Right Said Fred, the Fairbrass brothers had been playing music since the mid-1970s: as part of a band called The Actors, the brothers had toured with Suicide and supported Joy Division at the Factory club in Manchester.[2] The Fairbrass brothers formed the group in 1989, with Richard on lead vocals and bass and Fred on guitar. Prior to forming the group, Richard was employed as a session bassist for artists including Boy George, Mick Jagger[2] and David Bowie, and appears as the bass guitarist in Bowie's short film Jazzin' for Blue Jean.[3] In 1987, Fred appeared as a guitarist in the Bob Dylan vehicle Hearts of Fire.[2] The group was named after the novelty song "Right Said Fred", which was a hit single for singer and actor Bernard Cribbins in 1962. The Fairbrass brothers were originally accompanied by drummer Ray Weston and guitarist Dan Kruse. Weston left in 1990 to join the progressive rock group Wishbone Ash and Kruse left the next year. Guitarist Rob Manzoli joined in 1990 and remained with the group until 1997.

Saw these live 2 days ago in birmingham... Richard used a kazoo for the brass solo, then after the song me and another feller went on stage in a competition to see who played kazoo best. I won, and got a signed cd/dvd!
@@chrisjayne4746 a CD/DVD, you know? Like a combined package of the two? Stop the World being the CD, Night of the Living Fred being the DVD. Doubt away, it's fucking hilarious that you'll drag something up from nearly 11 years ago to doubt it. But oh well... If it makes you happy.
Considering some of the clothes worn in the video, I think the one line should be "I can't make head nor tail of fashion". I lived in London when this song was released in '92 and heard it everywhere. When I came back to the US no one had ever heard the song. Interesting how one song and/or group can soar in one country but fall flat in another. I've always liked "Deeply Dippy"; it's a fun and catchy tune.
They only had one hit in America, I'm Too Sexy. On the other hand Deeply Dippy was their only number 1 hit in the UK, and is a lot better. For one, it's an actual song and not a gimmick. But that usually happens, the UK charts are a higher barometer of quality than the US ones.
I remember singing this with my sisters in the nack of the ar on the way home from dinner with my grandmother in the back with is. I was 13, it 1992, we were so loud. It was awesome.
It reminds me of dancing in the living room with my mum before my sister was born and ruined my life 😂 jk ...the 90s were the high point of my life , I wish I could go back
first time hearing this was summer of 1992 on a road trip with my family to Toronto zoo! So when I hear this song, it brings me right back to that moment with us all squished in the tiny car on our 3 hour drive to the big city...those were the days

My section of soldiers ran a 60kmh speed trap at almost 100kmh in a South African Buffel APC with the engine governor removed and did it to this song. Good old days of the real South African Army, not the current bunch of clowns.
I feel many of us didn’t know how good we had had it in the 90s until roughly 2008. 1988 I remember buying my first house which took 6 months due to owner moving out proving hard to get hold of. A terraced property near where I lived at that time had doubled in price so I had to stick with the purchase or I’d have been priced out of the market. Then the banking crisis hit and some clown decided austerity was a great idea! Oh yes put the brakes on any investments made by government as the best way to stimulate growth and then lose years through stagnation.. brilliant idea not putting us back years investment wise in everything worthwhile to improve our economy. Shortermism at its very best..

1992 was a weird year for music. The trends of the 80s had died out, but the 90s hadn't really found its identity yet.
