Hi Eli, I am in the U.S. and discovered your videos some time back when I was searching to learn about Tatar culture. I was immediately fascinated by the old Russian culture which I knew not much about. Pretty quickly you won my heart moving through the world in such a beautiful and natural way. I am grateful for all you have showed and taught.
Hi Eli! Congratulations on your trip to Udmurtia and the story of these old women, the babushkas, who had a great idea to present themselves at Eurovision with the noble aim of rebuilding the church in their village is touching. But I think they have done much more and also thanks to your video, many foreigners will want to visit Udmurtia and the village of these lovely grandmothers. Thanks Eli, I’ve been fascinated by the inventor of the most popular auto rifle in the world Alexander Kalashnikov, never knew he’s from this beautiful picturesque city of Izhevsk…
As an American who really loves Russian firearms and military surplus, going to the IZHMASH/Kalashnikov Concern museum is one of my biggest dreams as I’d love to see the place where they are made and see all of the rare AK variants that you’d never find here in the US. I was shocked to see that they even let you shoot some of them there. Though it was definitely interesting to see what else Udmurtia has to offer. Having a bunch of Babushki sing live seems like it’s quite an experience. Sometimes it’s the small, little things that make some place so charming. A really good video as always, thank you for sharing your adventures.

Eli, thank you so much for this wonderful video! Your face was beaming with joy sitting and talking with the Babushkas and they looked so happy to be in your presence. I hope you keep in touch with them! The word Babushka means something special to me and the reason will make you laugh and every one else. As a little girl, my nickname from my Father was "Babushka". My hair was real curly like boingy like little springs and sort of bushy. I think my Father thought the word "Babushka" meant "Curly hair". Not until many many years later, I looked up the word and of course,an old Russian woman or grandmother and a woman's scarf. He clearly didn't know what a "Babushka" was, but he sure loved calling me that. God bless.
Udmurtia looks calm and sedated in your video. The time passes slowly I guess in Udmurtia. People live harmoniously side by side and like to help each other as depicted by one of the Baboushka. It’s not a major Russian city but it still has a lot to do like along The Prud, Kalashnikov Museum, the Zoopark, the main cathedral, Gorkiy Summer Garden, Druzhba Monument and the downtown in general. The Buranovo Babushkiy rock, as well as the local cuisine! The differing peoples of Russia set an example for others how to get along… great job as always😊...
That was really beautiful to watch Eli, and thank you, and thank you the Urdmurt people and Babushkas for sharing their lives. I will share this with people from Europe and America who really need to understand Russia and your values a lot better. I am not sure if you speak German, but one of the Babushkas I got to know there always said, "man nimmt nichts mit" which means we take nothing with us when we die. We come into the world with nothing and leave with nothing. It is what give and provide to others that really counts, and you do that wonderfully well. Thanks again.
Hi Eli! I had the opportunity to attend both Izhevsk and Perm on business some years ago - sadly during these visits the cultural aspects were all left uncovered. Seeing your clips really makes me long for a repeat visit - were it not for the current political situation. Thanks for reviving my memories on all - no, most - of the people I worked with.
Fabulous place! As a gun nut from South Africa, I would love to visit the home town of the great Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov and see the museum and other beautiful places.
Thank you so much, Eli, for showing us another very moving video about a culture I have never known. I was moved to tears by those lovely ladies' voices! May God bless them!

I've always loved your videos for their positive outlook 🥰. This one was especially so for the attitudes of the grandmothers: "it turns out singing can build a church."🥰 And "'These active youth...who won't get lost in the crowd...I look at them and count on them." 🥰 Please, keep going and never change! 🥰😍😘
This is one of my favourite videos, Eli. I always love it when you share different Russian cultures with us. Hopefully one day, I will have the chance to visit Russia and experience the cultures myself.
Thank you once again for another video and how different and diversified living in Russia can be. The deep and rich, customs and traditions we've been seeing is priceless. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us and to bring us along you, especially the west! Under the Soviet Union, this would not have been allowed.
If I were Russian I would be very proud of all things russian, and never look down on things made in Russia ,the grass really is never truly greener on the other side, love your videos ,always thumbs up from me.❤
Finally, with all that is going on, perhaps Russians will stop feeling inferior to the West. It might take another new generation growing up independently from western imports & "culture" to see the value of their own diverse people & culture & INTELLIGENCE!
Then move to russia, i!m sure you would love living under the putin fascist regime. With some luck you would even be conscripted to the army and sent to the frontlines.
Thank you for your videos! I don't have the funds to travel as much as I would like, and I really enjoy your work, which brings your travels to me. It's a small window on the world, and an opportunity for me to see it through the eyes of someone who is clearly passionate about life and people. Wishing you all the best! Cheers!
Thank you for this. I've been watching Eurovision since 1978. so this was special. There's something very satisfying I find about Eastern European (or a bit beyond) ethnic music, especially in the harmonies.

@@cristiani.lepindea8676I'd love to see Romania too! I was just visiting the Boian Romanian museum in Alberta ☦️
Elinochka, I’ve been to Izhevsk and loved it!
Russia is committing ethnocide against colonised nations. And committing genocide against Ukrainians
@@Тюрагай colonised? Bro, maybe u should just trying to respect international borders?
@@Тюрагай read Wikipedia first. Putin’s band destroyed ethic Russians first
@@alexbayer2365 maybe you should just just shut up and listen to colonised peoples?
Such a well done video, Eli you are a wonderful story teller and historian! XO
I agree, the old paths have been cut now, but many new ones have appeared. However, the cost is more expensive.
Don’t know why but every video I have watched and listened to this weekend have been outstanding. Thank you Eli!
Lots of thanks for this video! I love the Babushkas since I saw them on the Eurovision Contest!:)❤❤❤
Thank you for showing the Kalashnikov museum what a great wonderful trip. Would be to visit there.
Kalashnikov started a big trend, but he was under the Soviet system and so was paid practically nothing for his weapons technology achievements.
@@jackieow I wouldn't exactly call it a trend and I'm old enough to remember those days thank you.
This was so interesting, a fascinating place , the cathedral was beautiful , and the babushkas were wonderful. Loved this video so much!
Lovely to see a new region and people. Thank you.
Thanks for making us see the beauty of Izhevsk. I'll be there soon. Love from Philippines ❤
I loved the motorcycles and especially your visit to Buranovo. It was good to see the restoration of important buildings to the town.
Fabulous place! As a gun nut from South Africa, I would love to visit the home town of the great Mikhail Timofeyevich Kalashnikov and see the museum and other beautiful places.
I was so moved by your post, and am not exactly sure why that was the case, but thank you for using your gifts, Eli, to allow such moments.
Thank you so much, Eli, for showing us another very moving video about a culture I have never known. I was moved to tears by those lovely ladies' voices! May God bless them!
Beautiful like all your videos. Love the varied Russian culture. I suggest that for smaller towns it will be a welcome step if you add the location on google map at the beginning of video. 👍
Please don't call our culture russian. We are Udmurts
@@ТюрагайA texan is still an american. A floridian is still am american . Why you get so upset???
@@honesty3440 "American" is not ethnonym
@@honesty3440 It is not the same. Closest comparison is American Indians (Udmurt) vs Americans (Russians).
@@Тюрагай Is a comparison between Russia and America , both with Federal States. If you want to turn everything as you want and hate Russia go away somewhere else .
Very beautiful video of a world that didn’t know! Very impressive!💗🙏
What a wonderful, uplifting video! I think you should have mentioned though that Udmurt is a Finno-Ugrian language like Estonian, Khanti, etc, unlike Tatar which is a Turkish language of course.
Interesting. I did not know that it is Finno-Ugric language.
ps: those are TURKIC language, not "turkish".
What utterly amazing women! Just getting on with life no matter what it throws at them and still managing to do good and be so positive, thanks for telling us more about them.
This is wonderful, Eli! The sound of those beautiful voices will stay with me all day. ❤
This was absolutely heartwarming and so beautiful. I had tears almost through all of it. Thank you so much for sharing this joy.
A Heart Filled with Love to all Grandmother's , To whom you visited . There Songs were Wonderful . Thank you !
Such a great video (loved the hotel California ending) , I can watch you the whole day , you are such a stunning woman !!😊
Loved this video, from the Kalashnikovs all the way to the Babushkas, thanks for sharing, Eli.
A trip across all of Russia on a Russian dirt bike, that would be an adventure, thanks for your video's Eli
I might never be able to go to Russia in my lifetime, but I see the heart of it and its people through your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Eli, this is the best and most heart warming of all your videos... i love all your adventure trips, but this one will remain in my memory for a long, long time. Bless these babushkas!
Wow, thank you!
Loved it. Always look forward to a new upload from you.
The grandmothers are wonderful. Hotel California in Udmert fantastic
Eli, I really enjoyed this video …I’ve always been interested in this area and the city …Thanks for sharing and the information…Until soon ….Alex🇬🇷
Thank you Eli for this inspiring report. I was so greatful to have heard about these ladies. ❤
Such beauty ❤❤ I have learned so much from you.
Oh my, this was very special, thanks a lot! ❤
I love Russian culture,my great grandfather Izaac Cohen was from st Petersburg he came to settle in South Africa-during the 1880s .I am Afrikaans speaking,it’s the sister language of Dutch.I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.
So happy to see your videos, thank you for the beautiful countryside.
Thank you. That was wonderful. I was always fascinated with these peoples among others in Russia. Mordvins too and others too fascinate me. Thank you. Spasibo. Very touching.
I've always loved your videos for their positive outlook 🥰. This one was especially so for the attitudes of the grandmothers:
"it turns out singing can build a church."🥰 And
"'These active youth...who won't get lost in the crowd...I look at them and count on them." 🥰
Please, keep going and never change! 🥰😍😘
I remember watching the Babushkas on Eurovision. They rocked!
Very cool Ezza😎
This is one of my favourite videos, Eli.
I always love it when you share different Russian cultures with us.
Hopefully one day, I will have the chance to visit Russia and experience the cultures myself.
hahaha thank you for introducing me to the Buranovo Babushkas. They put up hell of show. Great video!
Thank you once again for another video and how different and diversified living in Russia can be. The deep and rich, customs and traditions we've been seeing is priceless. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us and to bring us along you, especially the west! Under the Soviet Union, this would not have been allowed.
Well, it wouldn't have been technically feasible.
"If I were Russian I would be very proud of all things russian" Derp.
Then move to russia, i!m sure you would love living under the putin fascist regime. With some luck you would even be conscripted to the army and sent to the frontlines.
@@TMMReznor DERP TO YOU 🤮
Except that war kinda thing , that's pretty sucky , it's actually a lot sucky, especially for those that live in the country that was invaded.
Thank you for your videos! I don't have the funds to travel as much as I would like, and I really enjoy your work, which brings your travels to me. It's a small window on the world, and an opportunity for me to see it through the eyes of someone who is clearly passionate about life and people. Wishing you all the best! Cheers!
Good choice for a tour. Spasibo. And YES, the beautiful lady with the smiling face was there often!!
Thanks Eli, it's cool to see all the interesting peoples)
Thank you for this. I've been watching Eurovision since 1978. so this was special. There's something very satisfying I find about Eastern European (or a bit beyond) ethnic music, especially in the harmonies.
Stunning, awesome and wonderful ❤❤❤ long live the grannies 🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂
Eli, I love all your videos and stories. All are fascinating, informative, and well-made. This video is perhaps the most beautiful I have seen from anyone
What a beautifull video to see people like this.Thank you Eli!!
Thank you for your work. Great vid. I am touched by the babushkas.
