I am so interested to learn about Udmurt Republic. I live in mid Wales, part of the UK and speak Welsh which is a tiny language compared to English which dominates everything.

I would be interested of different names of bear in udmurtian and hungarian language as well… it seems that bear was so sacred creature that us finnish at least avoided to say his name aloud. Thus many euphemisms were used. Even russians call bear as honey eater and original slavic name could be close to arktos.

Greetings from Lima - Perú. I have been watching RUclips videos from the Transiberian Railway and the cities and natural beauties on its was/route . Today I watched a video from a finno-ugric people in the frontier of Russia and Estonia called setos. Then I found your video about Udmurtia and found it wonderful. Your English pronunciation is very clear for a person like me whose mother tongue is Spanish. I learned reading and writing not in Spanish but in German at the Swiss School in Lima. Vowels in German and Spanish sound the same way every time. When I learned English I found that grammar was very simple but not fonetic because vowels sound very different all the time. In your case I was able to understand 95% of your speech. Thank You very much and Congratulations. Your video is fantastic

@@elenastravels Many ethnic Russians do in fact have some Finno-Ugric / Uralic DNA admixture. Many Finno-Ugric / Uralic indigenous people for instance the Merya, Muroma, Meshcherya who live around Moscow region have been completely assimilated into the Russian ethnicity. Many others like the Veps are on the brink of complete assimilation as well. According to Y-DNA (paternal lineage) studies aside from typical Slavic paternal haplogroups such as R1a and I2, Haplogroup N is the second most common paternal haplogroup among ethnic Russians and it is also the paternal haplogroup of the Rurikids (Rurik, Yaroslav the Wise, Alexander Nevsky etc.) who founded ancient Kievan Rus'. Haplogroup N accounting for approx 20% Russian males (as high as 50% in Arkhangelsk), and found in extremely high percentages among Finno-Ugric / Uralic peoples (eg 60% of Finns, Komi, Mari, Karelians etc. 70-80% of Udmurts, Khanty, Mansi, 90-100% of Nenets and Nganasan). There is even a possibility that the name for Moscow city which is derived from Moskva River may have come from a Finno-Ugric / Uralic etymological origin which means "black water"
