I completely agree with you! Since I started with the golden tarot (like you) I find it easy now to work with decks like that. Tbh, at first I kinda regretted it because I thought it'd be hard but right now I'm really looking forward to work with the victorian steampunk tarot (semi illustrated as well) and I've tried to find some symbols in the card that make it easy to read with this deck!
