I was diagnosed 3 weeks before our wedding. I felt I needed to have "that conversation" and let him "off the hook" if he wanted to run. He said he loved me and we'd deal with diabetes together. We celebrated our 37th anniversary a couple of days ago. Thankfully love and diabetes are not mutually exclusive. 🥰

I’m 27, diagnosed when 10, and I’ve always been afraid of romantic relationships thinking I would be a burden for someone else. My family went through A LOT with me. I married a wonderful man almost 9 months ago and diabetes was never a problem for our relationship. He worries about me, specially in my lows. Thank you for this video

Great video. You are both very charming and fun. Nice smiles and laughter. You are making this easier for type 1s. If someone has issues it's unfortunate but it's good to learn early as that's definitely not a great fit and that should be a deal breaker if you want a committed relationship that will grow with time.

This is such a nice and refreshing video 💖 I can relate with a lot of the things you said. I'm lucky enough to have a parter that understands me and take care of me too, and now I know how it feels, HOW IT SHOULD FEEL to be in a relatioship with a great human been.

I think this video helped me a lot, at least with having a more optimistic attitude on relationships. I'm almost 21 and I have never been in a romantic relationship, and for a long time I have figured that no one would really want to date me after finding out I had type 1 diabetes. That still didn't stop me from trying to find someone, only anxiety and my tendency to be a recluse did, but when I manage to go and meet more people I think I can feel a little better about it now. Thanks for the nice video :)
I knew my boyfriend had diabetes and instead of me being upset, I love to make food for him and yes it can be scary but I wouldn't want anyone else. I know someone will care about you. And Jesus Loves you so much. He will give you a man of Him if you let Him and if it's in His Will. Of course that's up to you.

Wow thank you so much for this video. I'm 21 and have been a type 1 diabetic for 5 and a half years. I've went through many different fazes and mind sets of dealing with this disease and even after getting my head around it I'm still very hesitant to start up a relationship. Us diabetics just go through so much daily just to stay alive and sometimes it's super overwhelming and I would almost feel guilty for bringing someone else into that equation. I would never wanna be a burden or feel as though I'm dumping all my baggage on them. In saying that after watching this video and seeing how great your boyfriends reaction was and how he supports and cares for you gives me hope that maybe someday I'll find my somebody who will do the same for me, so thank you! X
Hi Millie!! Thank you so much for your comment and for being vulnerable in your sharing your fears and experiences! I COMPLETELY understand your hesitancy in starting up a relationship and all the fears of unloading 'baggage' and feeling that hesitancy in not wanting to bring another person into that. I can only say, and reassure you that from my experience, people that truly love you will love and embrace everything about you, including your diabetes. Diabetes can actually be the very thing that helps bond you and creates camaraderie between you and your partner. Please, never ever give up on this belief and the knowledge that you will find someone who will love you for you - diabetes and all, and if they don't they aren't the right person. I so believe this, and really want you to hear this, from my heart to yours!

You seem well matched, and a lovely couple. :-) If I'm out to dinner, other than mentioning I'm diabetic and must make a quick dash to the washroom, to take a shot, I don't really talk about it. I usually add, that I must see the amount of food being served, before taking my shot, and insist they start, while their food is hot, and not wait. I'm used to slightly cold food. lol. Some ask a few questions; most say nothing. Telling people I was a vegetarian for over 8 years, seems to garner more questions, than telling them I'm a diabetic. Either way, I usually try to direct the topic of conversation away from diabetics, as quickly as I can.

I’m 15, and I have type 1 diabetes. I don’t want to be in a relationship yet. I feel like it’s way to early, but also I’ve thought about it a few times. I’ve had a few people ask me to be in a relationship with them, but I’ve turned every single person down(because I want to wait until I’m atleast 16), but also because I don’t think other high schoolers understand how serious it actually is. All I hear about in my school is diabetes jokes and it’s so infuriating! I don’t want anyone else to have to deal with my low or high blood sugars, mood swings from being high, my pump, etc. I’ll just stay on my own and control my disease hehe.

Izzy!! I'm hear you!! I'm also so sorry to hear that people make fun of diabetes in your school...oh my gosh that must be SO infuriating!! Just know that you are not alone in the slightest. I was SO quiet about my diabetes in High School because I just didn't want to be seen in that way, and didn't know how to express myself through it/deal with others opinions and ignorance! Truly, I can't tell you how differently I feel now, but I completely understand that this may just take time to feel. I also think as Type 1 Diabetics we have to rely on ourselves so heavily that it can be really hard to imagine sharing that with another person, especially in a romantic sense! All I can say is that when you do, both allow yourself to share your diabetes and vulnerability with another person something quite special can happen. But it's all a process and you have to do it in your own time. There is NO RUSH whatsoever. I'm sending you so much love and strength sweet girl!!! You sound like an absolutely amazing young woman!!!!! XOXOXO
I totally get you. Dating in high school is so difficult if you are already taking care of your health as a job. I would understand if you waited until college to begin dating. Good luck.

I struggle alot with diabetes, not managing it (had it since I was 3, I'm 28 now and control is fine) but with the mental health side of it. Don't get me wrong I'm not in a bad place, it just sucks. I've actually never seen anyone laughing about it with a partner e.g. diabetic stock market haha. I think my biggest fear is if I go extremely low to the point I need assistance, but end up being aggressive/violent towards a partner. I had never thought of it like strengthening the good parts of a relationship before. Thanks for the video :)

Thank you so much for sharing your concerns and struggles, you are brave and amazing to do this. The mental health side of it IS hard. It really is, there's no denying that. I've found daily meditation and gratitude journaling very useful in supporting my own personal mental health struggles. I've also gone to diabetic centred counselling in the past which was incredible useful (especially to deal with my fear of going high and over bolusing). I completely understand your fear of the low/aggression combination. This isn't a symptom I have of low BG, but I've absolutely heard of it before and it's my hope that people with this experience can talk to you on here (or other platforms) to support you though those concerns. She's Diabetic There is so much focus on mental health at the moment, but I don’t think it’s focussed on enough to help people with chronic conditions such as T1 diabetes, it’s hard work and can sometimes feel overwhelming. My hospital offered for me to go and see a counsellor and I said no, not out of any shame related to going to see someone, accepting help is not a sign of weakness. Instead, it’s MY way of dealing with it, I always feel that it’s my personal problem and challenge to fix, so I need to get myself out of it. But there does need to be more help offered to people and more support networks. Often just talking to someone who’s going through the same thing you are helps massively. I’ve waffled on again lol
I make diabetic jokes about myself with my husband every once and a while. I think being able to laugh at yourself can sometimes help. Endorphins are good for everyone and your mental health.
I was already dating my boyfriend for almost a year when I was diagnosed. I was nervous because I wasn’t sure that he would’ve put the time and effort into learning about my condition because he’s not going in the medical field like I am. Seeing someone learn about your condition in order to better understand you is the most amazing feeling. I’m glad I found someone who is willing to do what it takes to take care of me and love all of who I am❤️

Just stumbled across your channel. Such a positive, charming human being! So much good info here for diabetics and their partners. I've been diabetic for 51 years and have dated one or two people in that time. :-) It is funny how the issues have changed over the years. When I was younger and on MDIs I could tell someone I was diabetic and it was more conceptual to them since they didn't know what being diabetic really meant day to day. The downside was I had wild swings in BS readings and we had to deal with the ugliness of bad hypos and how they would make me act. I would feel guilty and shameful and my partners would worry for me. No bueno. When I went to the pump/CGM my lows and highs have improved dramatically. The downside was, well, I have these things attached to my body. My worrying about what I look like to someone else was what kept me off the pump for a long time. Vanity is a cruel master. LOL I am so lucky to be married to someone who sounds a lot like David. She accepts it and works with me in managing it without doting on me. Perfect, perfect, perfect! So happy for you two.

Going on my first date this weekend since being diagnosed with T1 a few years ago in college. She seems really sweet, and I think she will be kind and understanding, but I never realized how nervous I would be to break that news to a date.

I've been with my boyfriend for a while but I do think some people think I'm being rude checking my phone often.. oh well, I do explain it to those close to me..the juice box after yoga was really sweet! When my boyfriend moved over to the UK he brought over some things for me and this included testing strips ,I thought that was the most thoughtful gift:)

I was recently diagnosed with "Latent autoimmune diabetes of the adult" LADA for short. It's a variant of type 1 diabetes. I'm 52 years old and just learning about life with diabetes. Your videos are very comforting for people who are new to this. Thank you, and I'm glad I found your videos today. :-)
Andrea, great video as always! David appears to care very much for you (and you for him)! I'm happy for you both! I believe that people need to learn that the fact that we're diabetic is not something we should be ashamed to share. I don't have to tell you how a low blood sugar can affect our ability to recognize when we are in danger! Obviously our CGM's help us with those lows but even Dexcom would remind us that the CGM's aren't 100% foolproof. They remind us to check our actual b.s. anytime our monitor doesn't match how our body feels. I try to tell my coworkers, friends & family that I welcome them to ask me how I feel anytime but esp. if I begin sounding dumber than usual. Lol! I explain that a low sugar can slip up on me sometimes and that they might catch it before I do! I feel like the more comfortable I am about my condition, the easier it will be on the people around me. We aren't contagious and we don't have a condition that we need to hide. We are blessed to have technology helping to keep us safe and it's not something that needs to be shared necessarily with strangers. However, our close friends, co-workers, perhaps even people whom we want to have like us, like we like them 😉. In fact, we need them to know. I can tell you it has helped me more than once!

Awesome video. I was diagnosed at 22 after already being married and together for 6 years (8 years in December) and I'm very thankful she has been very supportive and helpful threw these 2 years of learning how to be a diebetic. It's nice to know I'm not the only person who drinks juice and sugar pills now and then and great to know I'm not the only person who can take insulin and my blood still goes up...... thanks for the video keep it up!

This is a very good video to show people how a normal person live with a T1D. Actually I met my husband in HS, and I was diagnosed when we were dating almost a year, so he’s been thru the moment I was diagnosed… and much like Andrea, us “T1D” sometimes took too good care of ourselves that the people around us forgot we have this serious condition.

Wow!! I'm very impressed about your opinion about thinking that diabetes is a big thing to share... I mean, of course it's up to anyone the way they 'hide' their condition but I would never treat it as a secret. However, hiding it while dating is not the way at all... as you won't be able to hide it forever...:)
It's great to see how lucky you are with your bf, how understanding and caring he is. It can be a really big deal for someone who does not understand our disease so good for him! I feel veeeery lucky, as my boyfriend is the same as yours is, he knows how to care for me when I am low or high, understands how difficult living with diabetes is and that, for me, is now everything.

There is so much I didn't know about diabetes! But one thing that really saddens me is that so many people that don't have it will say eating too much sugar causes type 2 diabetes but that is so untrue.

@@markjonno91 That’s true. I got diabetes type 1 when I was 13. My friends knew it and my class and my class teacher, but I didn’t tell my other teachers. I remember, when I was 16, in biology class my biology teacher said that diabetes type 1 happens because of eating too much sugar. I put my hand up and said her that it’s genetics and has nothing to do with what you eat. She told me that I am wrong. What a slap, especially because I knew better about the illness than her.

My boyfriend is type 1 diabetic since he was 18 months old. I'm newel pay diagnosed coeliac so no meal will ever be easy or simple. 😂 we were drunk one night and he couldn't check his own bloods so I done it for him, I also do his cgms because he has a needle phobia so can't do it himself, but he does his own insulin and hasn't let me do that yet. We've been dating for almost 2.5 years and are 18 now. I'm his rock and he's mine.
I was diagnosed last year at the age of 47 T1. My partner of 16yrs had a botched keyhole gall bladder removal (the surgeon also removed the bile duct (‘accidentally’) leading to a Hepaticojejunostomy repair operation to give her a bile duct using her intestine. She sued. She won. A lot. My condition does not in anyway compare to that in as much as T1 is totally in my hands... my responsibility to deal with this in the best way possible given my education in dealing with T1.
I’m so sorry for what you and your partner had to go though, that sounds so horrendous. But it sounds like you two have an incredible support system in one another and I find that so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your story and for being so open with this. I wish you and your partner nothing but the most wonderful things! ♥️

Hey, you guys are great together! Congratulations! Andrea, I’m assuming that, thanks to your CGM and pump, a severe hypo has not really presented itself in your relationship. This is a significant burden to deal with and carries much anxiety for the non-diabetic and guilt for the diabetic. Not all diabetics have the luxury of access to this technology either and that can complicate relationships. I’m in total agreement with you though that anyone having second thoughts about a relationship because of diabetes isn’t worth sharing one’s life with. Love is unconditional, otherwise it’s something else masquerading as love. The elephant in the room though is the potential for long-term diabetic complications. We all hope we never experience them but, what your video spoke about is the here and now rather than the what if. Your videos are so encouraging that it would be a pity to spoil the fun with morbid discussion, but it is something for the non-diabetic partner to be aware of. When one’s life together lies tantalisingly ahead, full disclosure is hardly something one wants to contemplate. Indeed, does one even need to? Love conquers all, and so it should! All the best!
Thank you so much Paul! I hear completely your concerns. However, I find it (personally) very very important not to focus on the potential complications down the line. Not because they aren't important or possible, but because they are not, in this day and age, inevitable. Again, I can only speak from my personal perspective and experience but when I worry about things in the future that I cannot accurately predict it takes a significant toll on my present health, and therefore it damages both my immediate and future health. That's not to say I turn a blind eye, or just ignore, I simply (try) to do everything I can day to day, moment by moment, to make health conscious decisions for both my body and my brain. I can only hope that the accumulation of this behaviour will result in a healthy me tomorrow and in the future. But, that being said, I have spoken to David about this, and he has also seen first hand what potential complications can arise, so it's a topic that is indeed worth sharing out of respect. It's complicated. I hope illustrated my perspective accurately, and that you know I'm very grateful for your words and do indeed (wholly) understand where you're coming from. Thank you for always making me think - really you do and are so considered in your comments. I'm very lucky to have you as part of this community and am grateful for your thought provoking and kindness filled posts. 💙

Bluberry is my fav flavour Tabs and Raspberry the worse but Gp won't give me any now! :-( you got a great caring boyfriend, it's very nice to hear him understand so well on are highs and lows and the frustrations we face! I don't have the option to share with someone but not got there yet! My Dexcom G6 sends a google map to my location of where I'm in case of a blackout if I don't snooze it within 20 mins or to what time I choose. This is xdrip not Dexcoms software which I find a lot better and safer for my needs! your boyfriend knows more than me! lol :-) I can't pronounce half of them words myself! lol, I also feel the NHS is getting Backwards and Beyond in Lancashires T1's NHS Treatments! :-) we seem to be getting (NONE) I think in the past with T1 with a partner for me it's them manging are mood swings which we have no control over! good luck to you both!

@@ShesDiabetic Yes I had a very bad hypo last night! serious but this is down to the Specialists not me, causing the issues as you will be aware! The xdrip is a different setup than with the straight forward setup of Dexcom's software and you have to setup Nightscout where now I'm able to say ok google whats my status and it will tell me my sugar levels! this is Nightscout see my channel I did a video setup of it but it's at your own risk as it's not FDA approved and to bypass this we have to build it up are self and install the software. I have used it for over 12 months and still alive lol! :-) Very time consuming but to me as a T1 for 50 years and gone through what your dad has I know this software is brilliant if you were on an iPhone you would be looking at Spike App but I have never used that! Thank you for your video and support means a lot when trying to get things in place from the NHS. I'm also looking at the way you did your basal for a pump and maths involved in it to calculate the formula but need to keep practising as I have no pump :-( on my setup you would put your basals into Nightscout and then it can go to AASP its really cool oh sorry we, not USA! that's really spot on! :-) A good starting point is CCG in the cloud facebook.com/groups/cgminthecloud/ maybe a talking one for the setup would be better but I'm not a fan of microphones! :-) But I'm sure you will be able to do a great video on it in time! My wife is a T1D and I’m a T2D…we met through the Diabetes community. She’s a very brittle T1D…and she has already had severe complications. So, when I express to want to date her…she laid it all out on the table on how severe her T1D was and she didn’t want to put someone through what she was dealing with. Minded there are a wide spectrum of diabetes control and care. But you can’t help who you fall for. We dated and I had no idea how different our diabetes was…my gf (now wife) was more severe and we both were having issues trying to get her diabetes in check…in the 13 years together (11 years married)…I’ve witnessed 7 diabetic seizures (all needing to call 911, administrator glucagon), 1 seizure putting her in a coma…God Thankful she has always bounced back. You can’t help who you fall fall in love with. Dealing with her diabetes is no different than any other relationship issue…if you truly love each other you will work it out together. Respects for your story.
David is much like my husband. My husband and I met while at University. I told him even before we stated dating, we hung out with the same people so we were friends first. (there were times when we were on and off in our relationship however during the off times he was still involved. Back in those days it was all vials and syringes and he wanted to learn how to draw up my shots and give them. We have been married for over 33 years and he is still involved---he makes sure there are juice boxes and snacks in the car when we travel. Andrea you describe life as a person with diabetes so well. You are right to say you (and me) are lucky to find someone who is interested in diabetes.

I have a few questions about the diets for diabetics vs non-diabetics in a relationship..
1. I have been with my boyfriend for 3 years and I've been T1 for 6 years. He seems to require large meals with lots of carbs (pasta, bread, rice, potatoes) & I'm happy (most of the time) to eat cracker bread, lettuce, cold meats & eggs - salads (but not in winter). How do you balance that variance and find time for meal prep when its on 2 very different sides of the diet spectrum? He is sooo not into eating the way I need to eat...
2. He doesn't exercise with me (at all) but I need to be able.to do that - finding time to work & exercise in the day is challenging & I feel like we're starting to live 'past' each other...
3. I'm a bit overweight and trying to get to a proper BMI - I'm going onto a pump in 2 months: will the sugar management help with weight loss (and my very bad chocolate cravings!)

After dating someone for quite a while (almost a year), he told me i was diabetic because i ate too much candy as a kid. He got a slap in the face (wed talked about this a LOT already) and then was quickly (though not quickly enough) dumped. Its a huge deal breaker for me if they arent willing to learn about it. Im so lucky to have a partner now who is understanding and such a supportive human. DONT SETTLE.

The extra juce can... yes, my wife's does that quite often. She detects lows just by monitoring subtle behavior/speech changes. My partner's also a scientist and works in pharma sector, that helps with understanding the theory (the logic).
The art part... I guess even the best partner / doctor wont be able to acquire that. And we have been together for almost 30 years. All the best, both of you.

I met my husband online in January of 2014. I didn’t tell him before we met face to face, but I did come out when I ordered a salad for lunch and a Diet Coke bc the look on his face was like omg you are one of those skinny girls. I was like ok this is the best time so I came out and he said ok. I knew he had no issue with it. He asked questions and I educated him. He continued to research it and now 1 wedding and 2 rascals later he is an expert!!! Probably better than me lol. He is scared for my safety and my quality of life, but he is very supportive. He is a keeper. And I can tell this guy is also a keeper!! I had issues with guys who I meet and were not comfortable. I dated one guy who made an effort but was scared of the responsibility he would face. Being a mom is also hard as a diabetic, esp with 2 under 3. I don’t always put myself first but sometimes I remind myself that my little ones can cry for a few more minutes or miss their feedings by 10-20 min while I fix my insulin. My babies won’t starve but I could get myself sick where I can’t take care of them at all. We did hire a part time nanny so I can take care of myself and go to numerous drs apt. But it’s all good. I asked my husband if it’s all worth it and he said of course.
I was diagnosed as a diabetic about 1 week after my now wife started dating, we have both learnt to live with diabetes and we are still together after nearly 30 years.

loved the video, i like it where he seems so uncomfortable on cam at first but then he kind of really getting into it, and you guys really look good together. ( lucky guy ;) ) anyway as you know from previous comment i made from a different video, i just started on the pump and just got the Dexcom to go along with it today about to put it on :) anyway, i was wondering about intimacy with the pump, i figured i can just take the pump off during sexual activities and all that, but i can't really take it off during the night when you sleep so kind of avoided having sleep over, was wondering if you guys cuddle to sleep or you take your space from each other so the tube won't get mangled up or like what do you do in those kind of situations?

Ah - thank you Michael! What lovely words, I’ll for sure pass them along to my boyfriend! With regards to your question - absolutely understand where you’re coming from, and this isn’t too personal at all - if we can’t ask each other these things, who can we!? I just use the belt clip to attach it to the waistband of my sleeping pants, and then tuck the tubing in. That way we can cuddle and have our own space however we like without having to think about the pump. It’s never gotten in the way, and I don’t believe it’s ever bothered David either. I'm type 2 and I find it hard to date . I have insulin pens. Before I eat I have to check it with strips...like I would go to the bathroom. Take the shot and go back. I totally hear you!!! I do have to say - the Dexcom really helped me feel empowered with the information whilst being able to keep it private at the beginning. It's so tricky at the start of any relationship to navigate the whole 'reveal' of it and how you keep things private until you want to share it with someone. All I can tell you is that truly truly I think it's bigger in our minds than it is in those people we are dating or in a relationship with. Though I know that doesn't take the fear away it's good to remind ourselves of that every once in a while! David and I are absolutely going to do more dating videos - are there any specific topics you'd like to see covered? Sending you joy and strength!!
Could you check your BG on your Apple watch instead of whipping out your phone? I even feel a bit rude doing this because it looks like I’m checking the time continually, as if I’m bored and want to get away, but I’ll usually just explain to the person I’m with what I’m doing, if I’m at the cinema or theatre, it’s not such a big deal and it’s less intrusive than getting out my huge smart phone!
You're so right about checking the BG on the watch - I actually do that!! Problem is my watch is a little laggy when it comes to delivering the most up to date current values, so that can be very frustrating...apparently it's an Apple problem and not a Dexcom one, so that remains to be solved (at least for my version of the Apple Watch). Such a great suggestion though!!!!! THANK YOU! :)

I am 85 years old and just got the Dexcom G6 package starter kit; and do not know where to start. . I do not have a smart phone so how do I get a reader so I don't have to buy a smart phone. Hello Frank! And congratulations on your new Dexcom - that's awesome!! I think your best bet is to call Dexcom's awesome customer support and get the to talk you though it all. I'm not sure which phone you have and a lot depends on that. Also - you can speak to them about the reader then too. It would be a separate purchase that you would need to make through them. I hope this helps. I know it can all be very overwhelming at first - but truly once you get the hang of it you'll be A PRO!!! Good luck! And let me know if you have anymore questions!
Just now watching this... I haven't dated in awhile, but, I typically bring it up on the first date to try to see reactions. If they bolt or act uncomfortable, then I know the relationship is not for me and I move on. Frankly, since it's a part of my life, I usually just incorporate it without giving it much thought anyway. (One of my ex's was also a t1d, so we used to try to test our blood sugar at the same time and see who had the better number. Maybe not the best idea, but it was fun for us.)

It’s hard for the partner also, they can get tired of dealing with it also. I know.... I have problem going really low 35 so I have to let anyone with me know I need help and how to take my insulin pump off. Good to see you have a great partner

Hi Amanda have you considered a low carb diet? For me it stops all hypos as I am taking little insulin. If you take more than 7 units it becomes unpredictable. It is recommended to take not more than 7 units in a single bolus or injection. Try lo listen to Dr Bernstein on RUclips, my levels range between 70-100 all day. All the hypos stopped and if I get one half a glucose tablet is enough to bounce me back.

Man I told all my friends and if they were uncomfortable or not I was like super cool about it. If anyone asked me about it, I was like yeah it just hit me one day and now I have to take insulin multiple times a day.

Haha - great question! No we have not - but there have been some 'close calls'! We just laugh about it and David is quite simply the most understanding human on this Earth so he always makes me feel comfortable and confident no matter what. I think that's the biggest gift a partner of a type one diabetic can give! I hope this helps answer your question!! Ps - I always just tell David that if something were to be pulled out it would not be at all the end of the world and mistakes happen! I try to give him that assurance, because I truly don't want him to worry at all!

Have you considered lowering or suspending your basal rate. I don't think is normal to be low so often.

From having roller coaster BG and HbA1c of 7.8.at my worst (average of 200 mg/dl 11.1mmol/L to a HbA1c of 4.8 with flat CGM readings between 70 to 100 mg/dl. I can tell you my vision improved noticeably within 3 weeks no more dental issues or tireness. I feel normal like a non diabetic definitely worth a view. I feel as you are a diabetic influencer in RUclips you can give him more exposure, if his methods work for you as they did for me. I love your videos and keep up the good work!

Quick question though, just a thought but would any of you guys feel weird about dating another type 1? Mainly because if there’s kid in the future there’ll be an even higher chance that it’s passed on.
That's such an interesting question...I've never dated another Type 1 so I can't say for certain, although my overarching reaction to reading your question was "You love who you love" 💙
My parents decided to not have anymore kids after my dad and brother were diagnosed because they were afraid of passing it on. My husband was diagnosed after we got married and our daughter when she was 6. For me personally I have 3 kids and would like to have a couple more. It is up to God, if we have more kids or if they have diabetes. What we do won't change anything. All we can do is love eachother and live the life we are given. I don't want to base our life decisions off of a maybe.
To be honest I thought I could only have a good chance being with someone that has it too. I felt bad about the thought of having the chance of passing it into a child of ours if my partner is completely healthy and it is basically fully "my fault". So like that I actually thought for the longest time that I should just only try to date another type 1. Growing older made me realise tho that if there is love then it will be fine.
