If only Anakin had known… Anakin: “We’ll I chopped off both of his hands, and then I executed him” Mace Windu: “good job, far too dangerous to be left alive, I’d have done the same.”
The ironic thing here is that Windu asking Anakin about it was probably the most ideal situation, since Windu was far less forgiving and more willing to "permanently eliminate" a threat. If Yoda had been the one to confront Anakin and Palpatine, this situation would have been VERY different. Anakin might have even outright lied and said Dooku "escaped" or something, rather than admitting that he just executed Dooku. Even if it was the the only reasonable (and justified) thing for Anakin to do at the time, Yoda's total blind devotion to the "Jedi Code" would have had him rather risk Dooku somehow escaping or somehow being shown mercy in court; Windu was a bit more logical and simply eliminated threats as they appeared, rather than showing "mercy" and risking their escape or slim chance of court appeal.
@@ericolsen5592 yes, he himself was willing to burden himself with the responsibility of killing dooku, that doesn't mean he wouldn't be concerned for a far less mature Anakin's concsience about executing Dooku.
Mace had plenty of reasons to be suspicious, the lack of direct answers from anakin, Obi-Wan not being able to confirm any details about Dooku's death as he was unconscious at the time. These were just more confirmations that something was truly wrong. Something he would only find out, only it was too late to do anything about.
Had Anakin explained that he defeated, dismembered, and still executed Dooku because he was far too dangerous to leave alive, Windu might have agreed with him. Windu (of all people) had the same mindset later on when he was about to strike the defeated Sidious.
huge difference though. He planned on arresting Sidious knowing he was a powerful sith lord. He only changed his mind in the heat of the moment when he was deep in vappod and had seen 3 friends killed then pushed to his limit in the fight. He wasnt thinking clearly.
@mike3455 Good points. Complicated decisions have to be made quickly and decisively in the heat of battle. There's not always time for second-guessing. Ethics and logic do not always go together hand in hand.
@theSANDMAN366 True. Mace just didn't like Anakin at all. Always called him Skywalker for that degree of distance and formality. Never fully trusted him. He detected dark-side tendencies in Anikan but never came out and said it.
It's a bit rich that Mace never trusted Anakin considering he (or the rest of the Jedi) never really gave Anakin a reason to trust him either. Trust works both ways.
How can you be so blind. Master Windu never hated Anakin skywalker he never had anything against him. He could see the dangerous Darkside of the force connected to them. And the more Palpatine poured into Anakin, the dark side grew within him. Essentially that relationship between Anakin skywalker and Palpatine was always wrong from the start. Master Windu could sense this vaguely.
@@jordanglasper1064 Lol... Talk about being blind. If you couldn't see how Windu hated Anakin, than you're truly amongst the ranks of the visually challenged
What you talking about? Windu was father figure type who didn't tolerate BS and believed in accountability. Anakin kept breaking rules and going against direct orders from Obi Wan and those set by the council and council members not just during the Clone but the 10 years during his training up to the Clone wars.
Anakin did not want to reveal that Palpatine ordered him to execute Dooku. Not that Mace believed Anakin couldn't defeat Dooku especially in his growing age; but Mace using his Shatterpoint sensed an important detail was missing. Had he discovered this it would have greatly increased the Jedi's suspicions of the Chancellor. Palpatine's cover may have been blown too soon; and his grand plan would have been jeopardized.
The fact that Jedi were concerned and knew that Anakin would choose Palpatine over them, and still did nothing to appease Skywalker and change his allegiance just shows how corrupt and ignorant the Jedi were. Their fall was unavoidable.
One of the biggest reasons for Anakin's fall. Imagine someone like him hounding and hating you from the beginning. Telling you you're too old and finding out the guy forced an even older child to become a padawan.
Mace Windu's approach reminds me of Planet of the Apes bad guys They're right, they're completely right even in predicting from beginning to end But how they go about what they know *never* helped anyone In fact, in proving they're right, they actually made things worse.
Not completely true highlanderc…mace was one of the best duelist in the Jedi order…but he also knew dooku was as well and if a akin was truly able to best him then he’d know his intuition and beliefs about anakin were way off and he was losing his touch

Mace had every reason to be suspicious of how Dooku was destroyed, as he had two witnesses and both were being obtuse in even answering him, I do think had he been able to get a one on one with Anakin he could of learned the truth, and possible helped Skywalker through his use of the dark side during that fight
Mace almost always treated Anakin poorly, and it was obvious to everyone. Mace seemed to point out every issue and flaw that Anakin had, and he used every mistake that Anakin made to try to justify his opinion of him and how he felt about him. Mace should have tried to advise and guide Anakin instead of endlessly criticizing and dumping on him.

Obi-wan defeats maul in phantom menace by himself after qui-gon died and granted the rank of master no questions asked, Anakin defeats dooku and they question how he did it 🤣
Questions were asked and Obi Wan admitted to using the dark side (wether to the council or not I dont know) Also no one knew first hand how powerful Maul was so nothing to go off of
This is straight up a lie because mace Windu was able to beat somebody far more powerful than the chosen one. Not only that a great many fans are unaware that purely in the light side of the forest mace Windu was master Yoda‘s equal. That’s why he was temporary The grandmaster of the entire Jedi order in Yoda‘s absence.
Mace, Yoda, Mundi, and Obi-Wan were the most suspicious of Palpatine but of the four Mace was the most driven to stopping him and recognize more warnings signs then the rest.
Is there a video on why dooku didn't spill the beans when he was on his knees? He's seen the face of his master, he was being coy with obi wan because he wanted obi wan to join him first. Why didn't he just say "but Darth Sidious, I was supposed to live on after this" or something like that?
I don’t blame him for thinking that anakin couldn’t have possibly killed dooku! Such a skilled dueler as dooku was. There’s no way that anakin with his lack of patience with dueling and charging in full force opening himself up for himself to be defeated if his strike didn’t land. A strike that had a lot of energy in it.
I think the mistake people make is to make one of them right and one of them wrong when in fact both are right. Windu has every right to be suspicious and believe Anakin made a mistake while Anakin had every right to slip and kill Dooku on sight, maybe even making the right call but becouse of the wrong reasons.
A good video on the story, but left out the shame and shock Anakin felt after murdering Dooku. It was something Anakin reflected briefly about, and was in the back of his mind up to the point where he landed what was left of the Separatist ship on Coruscant. It's likely, Anakin would have thought Windu would be disappointed in how Dooku died; especially since many answers died with him. We know Anakin was more ashamed of this act, than when he killed the sand people on Tatooine, but he was able to justify it somewhat in his mind as most of them died with weapons in their hands, as well as holding hostages. Dooku however, he outright murdered. Even pleading for his life. Yet. I do believe, had Anakin fessed up at this moment, Windu would have been fine with Dooku being killed but upset they weren't able to get answers out of him. I think the individual council members would have been mixed, but as a whole would be fine with it... including Yoda.
Yoda would not be ok with it he was seconds away from redeeming dooku before Anakin and kenobi fucked up he’d be pissed he didn’t get the chance to try again
He didn’t poop the bed Mace wanted to kill Palpatine, and Anakin wanted to take him to the council to do the right thing. But that’s when Anakin learned that’s they’re corrupt and didn’t matter what he did cause he was always gonna be wrong so he said F it and killed Mace to try a new path with the dark side cause the light was never on his side
@@jacobflores1781 but that also makes him a hypocrite lol Just imagine him agreeing with Mace. Then Palpatine drops dime on him about how he killed Dooku 😂😂😂
No he didn't. Trust in Mace WASN'T earned. Anakin wasn't given hardly any trust from Mace either. Not just the other way around.. Mace just saw him as a major rule bender or outright breaker anyways an when he decided Anakin had it right for once, ESPECIALLY, when he learned an saw not only had Anakin had been truthful BUT didn't realize or hadn't known just how much Sideous was till he fought him personally... That Anakin woulda just been onboard with outright murder. It was Mace's one last chance to earn the trust an respect of Anakin too. Whom even said in the movie couple times including to Obi Wan how he felt bad an guilty for HOW he just offed Dooku whom just dismissed it with a hand wave pretty much.. so was trying there NOT to repeat THAT mistake again by outright executing Sideous. Though how VERY MUCH IRONIC was it that for once going "by the book" instead of true to his usual nature was the VERY WRONG thing to do there he later realized.. so no... Mace screwed up an was barely becoming of a Master the whole time too. If anything it's MORE his fault then Anakin's BECAUSE he's a Master an shoulda known better. Honestly, they styles are SO similar as well as being powerful, aggressive fighters, Anakin woulda just wound up a future Mace 2.0 had he never fallen
This makes so much sense on why Windu said he didn't trust Anakin when Yoda, Obi-Wan and Mace flew to the Kashyyk battalion. It also becomes another major point once Mace duels Sidious
Man, Mace was just a total ASSHOLE to Anakin from the time he was a child to the day Anakin died and Vader was born. He is sooooo many examples of what a Jedi should NOT be.
Well… he did execute Dooku after literally disarming him. Dooku was no longer a threat with his hands chopped up. He could’ve easily been brought to the senate for a hearing and being jailed, as well a bargaining tool to end the war. That is why he says to Palpatine he didn’t need to die and that Jedi do not execute their prisoners. But obviously. Palps being Sidious, we know why he couldn’t let Dooku live
I never understood why the chosen one was given to Yoda for proper training. Not saying that Obi wan did bad, but their relationship was an attachment. They saw each other as brothers, not as master and padawan. That attachment there could be a variable for Anakin falling to the dark side as well. Yoda would’ve kept Anakin on check. The proper person to train Anakin was only Yoda after Qui-gon died. Not even Mace had the manners to train Anakin although it would’ve been amazing for Anakin to learn Vaapad. As a matter of fact, as the chosen one I would’ve studied every lightsaber form in existence. There’s things that the Jedi order didn’t do right. Something not everyone mentions is the fact that Padme had something to do with Anakin turning to the dark side. If she would’ve followed orders and rules, they would’ve never been together and Anakin wouldn’t have fallen to the dark side because of “love” 🙄……. They were both rebellious. Just another Romeo and Juliet story.
Obi won would say he did bad Obi won wasn’t ready for a padawan He wasn’t given to yoda because the only reason Anakin was trained was it was qui gon last wish and obi won pushed to do so
I think Anakin did not answer because he was ashamed. The pride and confidence in his power which had overpowered the aging Dooku faded away to shame and regret because what he had done was not the Jedi way. Anakin appeared confident because he was still high on all the emotions, the adrenaline and the realization that he had bested one of the greatest duelists in the galaxy. This is why he could not tell Windu the truth. Windu on the other hand did not doubt that Anakin had bested Dooku but I believe he suspected that Anakin had bested him using the dark side of the force.
Been reading the book haven't you? I still havent touched a star wars book since id like to start in a chronological order and haven't found a good guide that highlights the best books in chronological orer. Thank you for the video!
Mace was just slightly piqued. Mace had never been able to take Dooku, even in sparring. And in his one chance to end the War by killing or capturing Dooku on Ridley he found out that his Vaapad had zero effect on the Count, and that as had been the case in the past, Dooku took Mace's best efforts without even breaking a sweat.
I guess you didn’t realize that mace Windu was equally as powerful as master Yoda in the force it includes lightsaber combat ability. The way you guys downplay Mace Windu is horrendous and very disingenuous.
The way you Jack him off is hilarious he isn’t equal to yoda he never beat dooku and he never could be only “beat” palpatine due to vaapad and palpatine taking it easy the novelization states palpatine was moving to fast for mace to perceive then slowing down to fight him til mace gets into vaapad even then palpatine had a second blade he never saw need to use Palpatine gained more power from anakins fall from light getting buffed for his fight for yoda and still tried to flee If mace tried to fight pre darkside Anakin he’d get demolished Darkside Anakin being conflictied and being weak to vaapad would lose unless it’s Vader much much later
Windu himself admitted he didn't trust Anakin and Obi-Wan said that politicians are not to be trusted. I think Windu would've been suspicious either way. Honestly, I have little respect for Windu these days.
I think from the sound of this that it sounds plausible that while the dark side was growing, mace windu was being affected and possibly slowly turning to it. I think as time went on and the Jedi purge either was delayed or he survived, mace could’ve turned to the dark side
Mace should have taken Anakin aside and asked as a colleague what had happened rather than simply distrusting Anakin. The conversation between the rwo could have led to honesty and more trust between them.
Lol no u don’t. Anakin‘s gonna lose every single time. Many fans don’t notice but the Jedi master mace Windu in the light side of the force was equal to Yoda. It was only with the combination of the Darkside that made him stronger than Yoda. He was the only Jedi entire universe hookah truly balance the light in the dark side making him a supreme weapon for the good of the Galaxy.
Had Anakin come clean and told the truth about how Dooku died, it would have been much harder for Palpatine to turn him to the dark side. Just a thought.
Anakin had done way too many things against the jedi code at that point to be truthful to the jedi about all of his misconducts. Taking responsibility would have been a good thing but there were so many things he hadn't taken responsibility for to start with dooku.
Mace had every reason to be suspicious but perhaps if he had paid more attention to Anakin’s conflict than to the “dangers he posed towards the order” he may have been able to prevent it, saving the order and his own skin in the process..
How would you explain this when you're not feeling right to your direct superior? I get the mistrust, but I also get the overwhelming shock and self loathing for actually committing the deed when your orders are capture alive, not execute of one's own volition
But from what I understand, the Jedi order was under the command of the republic by that point, and thus chancellor Palpatine himself, and he was the one who issued Anakin the order to execute Dooku. It was a direct order by the highest authority of the republic, the chancellor himself, not a request. I imagine that was part of the reason why Anakin immediately executed Palpatine’s command. The Jedi were subject to the chancellor’s authority. Even though Anakin’s deed went against the Jedi code and their values and was maybe even illegal, he was merely obeying the order of the chancellor, although the chancellor himself might have broken the law by ordering Dooku’s extrajudicial execution. It must’ve all been very confusing for Anakin, and compounded by his own personal loathing of Dooku and desire for revenge, he made his decision and acted in a flash after being commanded by Palpatine. Which goes to show just how corrupt the Jedi order had become, having gotten entangled in politics to such an extent as to become tools of the republic and its corrupt politicians, and even of a very Sith lord like Sidious, to the point of carrying out extrajudicial executions of apparent political rivals of his on his behalf. As Obi-wan himself said, his allegiance was to the republic, the same republic which had given rise to Sidious, which led to their order’s utter destruction. The Jedi’s involvement in politics and allegiance to the republic is what led to their own demise.
@@enki6676 that's fair, to which I, personally, would still abide by prisoners of war treatment. That's my thought on his execution. Chancellor or not, a disarmed foe is disarmed. Even if he might still choke me without his hands
Master Windu was very experienced as a Jedi and extremely disciplined in his mastery of the force as well as the way he utilized his mind. He knew from the beginning that Anakin was dangerous. His attitude at the temple, his arrogance, his disregard for the code and the fact that he would seek advice from Palpatine (who constantly stroked his ego) and not his own master who truly was his friend were all red flags. Here we see the chancellor answering for Anakin and the latter's head down, no eye contact because he was a bad liar. I understand why he (Windu) never trusted him and keep in mind that Vaapad and form VII skirted the boundaries of the dark side of the force so it's safe to say the he recognized that cloud over Anakin, but by that time, he was already too late. Anakin, as powerful as he was due to his being "the chosen one" was and this is a very unpopular opinion, extremely weak minded, naive, and very easily influenced. All that strength with no control over it or his emotions equals lack of confidence and that equals weakness and I don't care what anyone says... Master Obi-wan didn't fail him. This is why Anakin was (to me) overrated and never a true Jedi.
I only partly agree with you . Was Anakin weak minded , naive and very easily influenced ? Yes he was fundamentally broken but a big part of that responsability also lies with the jedi order itself ( I wouldn't single out obi wan but the jedi order itself ) yoda in particular . They as a fact were a bunch of hypocrites on one point in particular : the no attachement rule . Yoda enforced that to disastrous effect , it is because of it that when Anakin couldn't go help his mother when the force warned him , therefor enshrining his first big step toward the darkside ( Contrary to with padmé anakin simply couldn't help having a mother). Why is that hypocrisy ? Because the jedi order itself formed an attachement : to the republic , therefore when the republic is at fault they can't intervene even when it is the will of the force .
@@stormbringer2840 I mostly disagree as Anakin was not the only Jedi to have warnings in dreams and visions. Granted the jedi had theories flaws sure, but their own sense of duty is where their flaws lay. But to suggest that the code is to blame for the death of his mother is to say Anakin could've stopped her death, she was always going to die, but he blamed himself for it, not the order. Problem is that he knew what he signed up for. Qui-gon warned him that being a Jedi was not an easy life and even he tried to stop Anakin from going to Tatooine. If you suggest that the force warned him, then in all fairness, it was the will of the force that she would die. Padmé while she was a good politician, and whether anyone likes it or not aided Anakin in his fall by helping him lie, helping him go against Obi-wan's teachings... she knew that he was breaking the rules, but she encouraged him to do so. Think about it... only a whiny arrogant teenager could grow to become a sith. Remember that the visions of her death only involved the fact that he had turned into Vader in which his choices led to that transformation. He set her death in motion. Again, his arrogance killed her.
I mean... if Windu learned the full story and admonished Anakin for killing off Dooku he would be a huge hypocrite seeing how he himself tried to execute Palpatine only few days later.

The simple answer was that Anakin didn't want to admit he drew on the Dark Side to defeat Dooku. He let his hatred and his need for vengeance fuel him. If he were to admit that, it would worry the Council.

The more stories I heard about Mace the more I'm glad that Anakin betrays the Jedi and getting him killed. Him not trusting Anakin just gives him a reason to why he did what he did.
You are a fool. Because you were blind. Mace Windu did not trust Anakin because of his relationship with the supreme Chancellor who was the Sith Lord the entire time having billions trillions both on the separatist and the republic murdered not to mention the vast amounts of untold innocence were murdered in the wake of a fake war created to single-handedly overthrow the Jedi who were the keepers of peace. The Darkside of the force clouded the Jedi vision. But because mace Windu was connected to the dark side with force he could vaguely feel somethin was wrong. The Jedi were not perfect, but they were the defenders of the innocent and the weak.
I think Mace was jealous of Anakin in a way you can tell in the movies Windu was always extremely prejudice of Anakin since he was a boy he was always questioning everything concerning Anakin like almost all the time it wouldn’t surprise me if Windu thought he should’ve been the Chosen One and not Skywalker but whats most interesting is that even Dooku had a falling out with Mace not to mention it was also Windu’s distrust towards Anakin that became the downfall of the Jedi

Wow, the comment section is full of moronic fanboys. We all knew from the original Star Wars films that Anakin was Darth Vader. Windu never trusted Anakin & he was 100% right. Anakin was too old to join the Jedi Order. Why? Because he had attachments. Ask the Sand People in Tatooine. He married Padme against Jedi ordinance. He killed Dooku despite having rendering him a non threat. He became a Sith Lord. Windu gave Anakin a chance to prove him wrong, & sure enough, Anakin betrayed him. All you fanboy idiots are delusional. Anakin became a Sith because of his attachments. This was the reason he was rejected by the Jedi Order to begin with. Qui-Gon Jin should be to blame for everything. It was he that made sure Anakin was trained as a Jedi despite the Jedi Order's wisdom. This is also why Ashoka Tano refused to train Grogu. She knew he had grown attached to Din.
@@GlobalTRIGGER They made exceptions before for other stuff as well. In Legends, for Ki Adi Mundi, for example, they allowed him to have multiple wives and children, as his species was close to extintion. But while he was allowed to have kids, he couldn't have a relationship with them, or love them.
It should also be noted that Anakin refused to own up to his fear and anger as soon as he meets the Council. His background as a slave made it so that he could not admit to any weakness, lest someone take advantage of it. The Council don’t understand that, but they do realize that his inability to admit his fears makes him disposed to a fall. I think if they tried helping him work through his feelings, and Anakin discussed his feelings more openly, they might have been able to guide him through it. Luke, meanwhile, always seemed a little more open to sharing his thoughts and feelings (at least, he did during RoTJ). I wonder if the Council would have gotten on better with him?

@@jordanglasper1064 honestly, I think Anakin, the Jedi order and Darth Sidious are at fault for Anakin’s fall to the dark side. These specific people/group are responsible. I don’t blame one specific person for everything.
TLDR anakin and palpatine refused to give clear details of his death and mace windu already distrusted both of them. He believed anakin was capable of beating dooku but knew something suspiscious had happened.
Of course he had reason to be suspicious, but was Mace’s own overconfidence in his point of view/abilities and his constant antagonizing attitude towards Anakin that became his downfall both literally and figuratively.
This makes absolutely no sense because no Clone Wars era Jedi would have been able to read emotions. They are literally taught to forgo all emotion. They portray only general compassion but have no understanding, no ability to deal with emotion. Therefore Mace Windu’s suspicions and subsequent bad decision in regards to Anakin comes from his own dislike of Anakin from being given the title of Chosen One that Windu thought was himself. But he could not get past this because he has no way to deal with emotions.
So... He REALLY didn't like Anakin... Like this is neat if not outright unbecoming of a Grandmaster/ MOST SENIOR Master Jedi conduct on Mace's part here. ESPECIALLY if Anakin honestly said what happened... Though, for most part many of the Council seemed to either shrug or say he had it coming. Seeing as the Council HAS to be well aware of seeing JUST HOW MANY, MANY times Anakin/Obi Wan and Dooku have crossed swords would it REALLY be THAT unbelievable that IF one of them killed Dooku... Which HAD TO HAPPEN at some point UNLESS he offed them first... That Anakin woulda been the one to do him finally in... Seeing as Kenobi NEVER did where it MOST mattered manage to REALLY beat Dooku an always seemed to get crushed by the much older Makashi master actually. Where EVENTUALLY fighting Anakin whoms speciality seemed to be attacking anyways, IF ANYTHING, Mace probably should've been EXPECTING Anakin to FINALLY end Dooku truth be told... Of course, being so hateful of Anakin, he'd probably in this scenario, been saying something along the lines of "took you long enough" or something like that, STILL, not satisfied an perhaps even expecting it happened the way we saw in the movie too.
I’m not sure why Kenobi‘s unconsciousness is grounds for suspicion. He never saw the fight, so his word shouldn’t count for anything. Moreover, he didn’t see Dooku’s body, so his word should count for even less. He only had Aniken’s word to go on, and they were in the middle of a disaster when he received the information. Naturally, because Kenobi believed Anakin had good ethos, he believed him without question. But the other two premises are 100% valid. You have two eyewitnesses to the event that are both being vague in answering direct questions. Personally, I would be suspicious as well based on that alone.
You should do a video explaining why the clones didn't attack anakin when order 66 was initiated. If all the clones were programmed to destroy jedi, then shouldn't they have attacked anakin too, thinking he was a jedi? We see a great example of this in clone wars where they try to destroy Ahsoka, even though she is no longer a member of the order when order 66 gets initiated.
Maybe order 66 was for when Anakin joined Palpatine and there was a similar order that would have included Anakin with the rest of the jedi being hunted and killed. I have no idea if that's the case or not, I'm just spit balling.
Interesting you'd release this today mere days after my reply to Commander Cody. In fairness I do think that you have accurately analyzed the Master Jedi's cause for concern. Been awhile since reading the novelization, but I do remember this part, yes. I don't want to type a wall of text going point-by-point on what Mace missed. Suffice it to say perhaps Mace, despite his intelligence, may still be somewhat obtuse in interpersonal skills. You even go so far as to call him paranoid here. You likened Kreia as a mirror opposite of him in the other video. So I ask you, bearing her sentiment in mind: Did Mace Windu depend _too much_ on the Force? Did Kreia's particular criticism of both the Jedi and the Sith once again apply to the Jedi Order as it did four millennia prior?
As for interrogating Anakin Skywalker personally? Either it would've been counterproductive ending up with Anakin storming off and possibly standing on Palpatine's side, lending the Chancellor his own saber when it came to the inevitable confrontation. OR Mace Windu would have had to strike down Anakin Skywalker and proceed from there. Then the confrontation would've been a wash, OR, Sidious would have sensed the sudden extinguishing of Skywalker and the entire Republic military would move to intercept the Jedi, giving the Chancellor enough time to craft a propaganda narrative around "the murder of Skywalker, a Republic hero" and making the order a pariah as order 66 was initiated. Then Kenobi might've even broken away leaving the Jedi Order to fend for itself.
Not sure what windus issue would have been with anakin executing dooku. Windu literally executed an unarmed jango fett, and tried to do it to palpatine too. He’s a total hypocrite
What are you talking about? Jango was shooting at him. He was a Mandolarian who just didn't use pistol to attack and kill Jedi. They had various weapons like flame thrower! Also, Palpatine was the Sith Lord. He had control of the courts and the Senate. Mace also sense plot from Palpatine to destroy the Jedi aka order 66.
ill never understand the Jedis allowing the person they view as the chosen one to always be placed on the back burner. Like here for example. If Mace believes Anakin is struggling with how Dooku was defeated he should immediately want to get him alone and question him. If he just says something like "Anakin id expect you to be excited to tell how you defeated one of the best fighters in the world in single combat, what is it that has you second guessing yourself?" He has unlimited access to Anakin still and has complete authority over him. He can get the truth from anakin if he tries hard enough. Then as soon as he hear how the chancellor pressured Anakin into doing something so dark everything changes. There are so many things that the Jedi can do to keep Anakin in the light. Even Padme dieing, explain to Anakin getting advise from a 900 year old being that has seen everyone he loves die including generations of children he has raised probably isnt the best idea. Of course Yoda would be cold about it.
Confirmed Mace was jealous big time. He wanted everything Anakin had. If you take away legends and go with cannon, Mace was just a average jedi. Non cannon crap is what gave him is own form and why is saber was purple lol. truth is its from his world he was born on and nothing special and no such form as vaapad.
Windu: Skywalker, how did Dooku die? Anakin: I cut off his hands and decapitated him soon after. Windu: ... Naaaaaaaaaww ... Anakin: Yes ... Windu: ... Naaaaaaaaaaaawww ... Palpatine: Master Windu, I was there and I can fullheartedly assure you that young Skywalker did exactly that right there in front of my very own eyes ... Windu: ... Naaaaaaaaaaaaaawww?? ... Palpatine: Yes ... Windu: Naaaaaaaaaaaaawww??? ... Obi-Wan: With all due respect Master Windu, I was unconscious when it happened, but by the time I woke up, Dooku was dead so I see no reason not to believe Anakin ... Windu: ... Uhm ... yeah uhm ... well ... THAT MEANS NOTHING ... must've been a fluke, in any case Anakin is still no Jedi Master ... and you didn't see Dooku's corpse or hands so pictures or it did not happen ... Obi-Wan: Master Windu please, once again with all due respect by the time I woke up Anakin had killed Dooku, saved the Chancellor and since the ship was starting to collapse he had no time to store evidence because we needed to get outta there pronto or we would not have made it ... Windu: PICTURES OR IT DID NOT HAPPEN ... Palpatine: Master Windu, the ship was in flames, we couldn't afford to ... Windu: PICTURES ... OR ... IT ... DID ... NOT ...HAPPEN ... Anakin: Master Windu, the ship is completely vaporised by now, all evidence of me killing Dooku is now turned to ashes and ... Windu: TAKE A SEAT, YOUNG SKYWALKER
We were never told, but Sidious could have been hijacking Dooku through the force at the end. He was obviously powerful enough. And could have pulled it off without suspicion due to Obi Wan being unconscious, and Anakin being emotionally overcharged...
No, that isn't how it works. If Sidious used the force to hijack Dooku, Anakin and Obi Won would have sensed him in the force. Remember, one of Palpatine ability was the ability to hide his force ability. That only applies if your not using it. Palpatine was fully embraced in the darkside. If he used force ability like drain or block, Anakin and Obi Won would have sense it.
The problem is that Anakin killed Dooku in cold blood. Dooku had already been defeated and literally disarmed. But Anakin gave in to the dark side and executed a defenseless man. This is the reason why Anakin can't give an honest answer, because after giving in to the dark side, he regrets it because he feels that he turn his back, albeit temporarily, on the Jedi values. I think he's proud that he defeated Dooku, but still at the time regretful of how he gave in. Because he did not kill Dooku in self-defense, being honest about how he defeated Dooku would mean that Anakin would admit that he committed murder of an unarmed prisoner. This feeling of regret and shame is probably what Mace picked up on, and probably why he thought there was something wrong.
Mace was right to be suspicious. Obi-Wan was unconscious so he couldn't testify. Connection between Palpatine was worrying. I war lasted little longer I think Mace could interrogate Anakin and find out more. I agree. But Mace was also extremely paranoid. About everything and everyone. His allies, friends. Looingk forward for next holocron where we learn why Mace felt this. May the Force be with you too. Have a great day too :)
He wasn't paranoid at all. The Jedi were blinded by the darkside! Mace pretty much was the only one who wasn't. He may have not been able to sense Palpatine because nobody else could even his former master Palguis. However, Mace never really trusted Palpatine once he became Chancellor.
@@Gor85 I truly believe once Mace was in Palpatine office and they started to fight! Mace force senses were working full bore with Palpatine. He sense the plot to destroy the Jedi aka order 66 prior to coming there after telling Anakin to report to Palpatine. He also probably was sensing present and future plans for the Republic under the Sith. Even after 3 of his friend were murder and Palpatine kept shooting lighting at him. Mace came to realization Palpatine had everything under control with the Senate, courts and etc. Along with he was very powerful force user. He was too dangerous to be left alive. The Sith mandate was to destroy the Jedi. Period! Arresting him wasn't going to stop order 66! Killing him what have stop order 66! Palpatine had all the evidence he needed to brand the Jedi traitors and command order 66! He had Anakin on tape saying the Jedi told him to spy and the Jedi planned to take over. He also had an alter video making it look like the Jedi attacked him first and not the other way around.
If only Anakin had known…
Anakin: “We’ll I chopped off both of his hands, and then I executed him”
Mace Windu: “good job, far too dangerous to be left alive, I’d have done the same.”
@Tim Gibson Yoda wanted Dooku dead though, that's why he didn't try to turn him in Attack of the Clones

Mace had it out for him from the beginning

How can you be so blind. Master Windu never hated Anakin skywalker he never had anything against him. He could see the dangerous Darkside of the force connected to them.
Mace and Yoda are nearly fully to blame. They literally drove Anakin away
He really hated that boy, didn't he?
I wouldn't say hate more like not trusting Anakin because of his unpredictable actions almost fear ironically..

Mace had every reason to be suspicious of how Dooku was destroyed, as he had two witnesses and both were being obtuse in even answering him, I do think had he been able to get a one on one with Anakin he could of learned the truth, and possible helped Skywalker through his use of the dark side during that fight
interesting that when Anakin beheads Dooku he is using a red light saber and a blue one, symbolic of the internal battle he is experiencing
I know the irl reason, but Windu's blade being a combination of red and blue shows how he's rectified that internal struggle within himself.
Mace almost always treated Anakin poorly, and it was obvious to everyone. Mace seemed to point out every issue and flaw that Anakin had, and he used every mistake that Anakin made to try to justify his opinion of him and how he felt about him.

Mace Windu was jealous because he defeated the Sith Lord , and Windu might not have been able to .
This is straight up a lie because mace Windu was able to beat somebody far more powerful than the chosen one. That’s why he was temporary The grandmaster of the entire Jedi order in Yoda‘s absence.
"Increasingly paranoid?" Brother was right at every step.
I don’t get why stuff like this wasn’t in the movies, makes sense and made the tension palpable
Mace, Yoda, Mundi, and Obi-Wan were the most suspicious of Palpatine but of the four Mace was the most driven to stopping him and recognize more warnings signs then the rest.
Windu - I want a fully detailed account of how you beat Dooku.
Skywalker - Why? So you can tell me how I did it all wrong?
Why so you can take notes
Is there a video on why dooku didn't spill the beans when he was on his knees? He's seen the face of his master, he was being coy with obi wan because he wanted obi wan to join him first. Why didn't he just say "but Darth Sidious, I was supposed to live on after this" or something like that?
Mace is just pissed he could never beat Dooku, yet Anakin could at such a young age
I swear jedi has been exiled for less you would think obvious disdain for someone would lead to the darkside
If Anakin had turned to the dark side when palpatine revealed it he would execute order 66 on the spot
Awesome job dude
The worst part is Anakin sought the trust of Mace for so long and the moment he had it, he pooped the bed

@@robertagu5533 Why should Mace trust him? He was always breaking the code or not following order!
This makes so much sense on why Windu said he didn't trust Anakin when Yoda, Obi-Wan and Mace flew to the Kashyyk battalion. It also becomes another major point once Mace duels Sidious
Mace represented what was wrong with the jedi being so ridged and inflexible, stuck in the past, and caring too much about the code.
Man, Mace was just a total ASSHOLE to Anakin from the time he was a child to the day Anakin died and Vader was born. He is sooooo many examples of what a Jedi should NOT be.
Well maybe Anakin didn’t feel comfortable to talk about his final duel with Dooku
Obi won would say he did bad
Obi won wasn’t ready for a padawan
He wasn’t given to yoda because the only reason Anakin was trained was it was qui gon last wish and obi won pushed to do so
Mace is a criminally underused character in Star Wars. Not only is his character so cool but to have Sam Jackson portraying him is a perfect match.
Obi-wan: You do know that Dooku is dead right?
Windu: Not dead, he just went home. (Begins blaring out Elvis songs.)

Wiindu was jealous of Skywalker.
Mace was always a menace to everyone if given a reason like what happened to Anakins Palawan

Amazing

100% agree
Sad Thing is if someone like Yoda or Revan thaught him he would likely never turn to the dark side by the Senate

Problem is that he knew what he signed up for. Qui-gon warned him that being a Jedi was not an easy life and even he tried to stop Anakin from going to Tatooine. If you suggest that the force warned him, then in all fairness, it was the will of the force that she would die.

He was shooting fire from his flame thrower at Windu when He jumped on the deck from the attack from the battle droids when he had his lightsaber blade at Dooku throat. You guys make up shit! Jango wasn't trying to give up and he was wearing Bisgaard armor which is resisted to lightsabers.
Good on you for doing something new instead of doing more reruns.
The simple answer was that Anakin didn't want to admit he drew on the Dark Side to defeat Dooku. He let his hatred and his need for vengeance fuel him. If he were to admit that, it would worry the Council.
I told Mace Windu that the boy was an opp from the jump.
I think Mace had similarities to Anakin so he understood what happened, like a parent knows what their kids are capable of but at the same time knowing a part of them that won’t be revealed until it is told to them. Especially when your hanging around trouble but don’t know it.
Guess what! Mace was right all along about Anakin. The Jedi order didn't just suffer because of Anakin decision to join Palpatine. Alot of the galaxy and people living it for 20 plus years. Anakin caused the death of Padme with his actions and deeds! He didn't see in his vision prior to her dying in child birth. She died in child birth of broken heart and lost the will to live because of what Anakin had done and what he planned to do. He was so selfish! Mace had nothing to do with that!
What’s that about selfulling prophecy’s you kick a dog enough it’s gonna bite back
@@arronfrazier7873 yeah well guess what! Anakin’s actions or not the Jedi had lost their way and they were still always doomed from the start all of what you say is also true but in the end that still wouldn’t have mattered it was still too late to do anything abt it! Dude have you not been paying attention all this content explicitly explains one of the failures of the Jedi but i i also feel like your also saying this jus bc Mace one of the good guys jus bc but even the most good ppl have their flaws in almost every story proved somewhat no different than the bad ppl of course none of that wouldn’t have been possible if the Jedi hadn’t lost their way and became so rigid and staled in their short sighted narrowed dogma! So yea therefore it still had something to do with the Jedi failings but it was still too late! You might even say the Jedi were still meant to be wiped out regardless despite Windu being right!
@@joshuahenderson3444 Jedi lost their way! The Jedi didn't cause the damage caused by the Sith and Empire across the galaxy for 20 plus years. The Jedi didn't destroy Alderan! Empire would have blown up or destroy half or parts of planets that didn't do what they wanted. All your focusing on the Jedi, Anakin narcissistic ass and etc. The people in the galaxy suffered extremely the most not under the Jedi but the Sith. This is a concept people like you don't get! As bad or problematic the Republic Senate with corruption the last 100 or more years, that weren't close to what the Empire put on the galaxy in less than 30 years.
Ok so, I may be thinking to much into it but I just re watched the clone wars animated movie and there is a scene where dooku and ventress are talking just before obi-wan comes in to fight ventress I noticed two jedi standing within feet of dooku in Jabbas palace just before dooku starts the hologram with ventress do we know who these jedi are and why the are at Jabba palace and also why they are not trying to arrest dooku, I don't know why I never noticed it before, but again I may be thinking to far into a small movie.
The Jedi was already beat it's not his fault he fought to The bitter end to save the Jedi
Windu would’ve give Anakin a huge lecture
Mace was jealous because he thought he was the chosen one. Sour grapes helped push Anakin to the dark side.
Anakin and Macy have often been at odds. So this doesn't surprise me at all.
In other words Anakin was a republic loyalist?
Wow Mace Windu really didn’t like Anakin from beginning to ending😑 At least Obi-Wan learned to love Anakin for who he truly is.
"The boy is to old" Its not that mace hated Anakin they had rules but the jedi made exceptions for Anakin & it was there down fall.
@@magicaltour1 Finally somebody who can see things for what actually happened it took place instead of blaming Anakin’s dark side fall on one soul person. Primarily Aniken is at fault, but he was lead down that path by the ultimate evil one. Lord Sidious.
Windu didn't die by Vaders hand he died because of his arrogance and inability to see what's in front of him
Yall act like Mace didn't have a reason to be suspicious
He does, but he did give him enough time to prove himself or did not like the fact that Ani don't follow their rules
He had good reason not to trust anakin
You should do a video explaining why the clones didn't attack anakin when order 66 was initiated. If all the clones were programmed to destroy jedi, then shouldn't they have attacked anakin too, thinking he was a jedi? We see a great example of this in clone wars where they try to destroy Ahsoka, even though she is no longer a member of the order when order 66 gets initiated.
Maybe order 66 was for when Anakin joined Palpatine and there was a similar order that would have included Anakin with the rest of the jedi being hunted and killed. I have no idea if that's the case or not, I'm just spit balling.
@GunGun Trio maybe that would have been order 69 lol
Interesting you'd release this today mere days after my reply to Commander Cody.
In fairness I do think that you have accurately analyzed the Master Jedi's cause for concern.
Been awhile since reading the novelization, but I do remember this part, yes.
I don't want to type a wall of text going point-by-point on what Mace missed. Suffice it to say perhaps Mace, despite his intelligence, may still be somewhat obtuse in interpersonal skills.
You even go so far as to call him paranoid here.
You likened Kreia as a mirror opposite of him in the other video. So I ask you, bearing her sentiment in mind:
Did Mace Windu depend _too much_ on the Force?
Dooku should’ve spilled the beans right in front of Palpatine. He was a dead man already at that point.
It would be easy to prove Dooku was executed by looking at his body, his hands were missing and was basically defenceless.
In a ship that broke in half and the half containing dooku exploded
I really wish I kept my copy of the ROTS novelization. This is giving me intense nostalgia
Never getting rid of mine
Confirmed Mace was jealous big time. He wanted everything Anakin had. If you take away legends and go with cannon, Mace was just a average jedi. Non cannon crap is what gave him is own form and why is saber was purple lol. truth is its from his world he was born on and nothing special and no such form as vaapad.
Windu: Skywalker, how did Dooku die?
Anakin: I cut off his hands and decapitated him soon after.

Windu: ... Uhm ... yeah uhm ...
And no palpatine was powerful but not that powerful dooku was on a on a level close to yoda and himself
I think the Jedi order lost Anakin long before this. They lost him the day Obi-Wan faked his own death.
I think the details would of put Mace in high alert.
If they had captured Dooku alive would he have sung like a canary or would he keep palps little secret?
@@arronfrazier7873 true, As Palpatine gained more and more power Mace grow more suspicious
