Thank you for this wonderful and educational video. I have 10 thickened yellow “trauma” toenails. As a woman with a size 12 foot, bunions, hammer toes and flat feet shoes are always tight and rubbing.

I am size 10 and I have thickened and rough pinky toenails as well as discolored dull toe nails due to years of wearing
tight shoes that don't fit well and constantly rub against my toes. I have dark toe joints, hammer toes. It's time I wear custom shoes that are comfortable and see a podiatrist to reverse and treat years of damage to my feet.

Thank you for the video. My impacted nail is on my second toe - which is significantly shorter than my "big" toe due to genetics and further shortening after bunion repair. When I hike and ski, the toe hits the top of my shoe/boot, so I think my issue is trauma. There is also a small ganglion cyst near the joint (unchanging about 6 years). There is no discoloration on this single thick and peeling toenails. Should I seek counsel in case of differential (fungus) or just accept my 60-something ugly toenail?

I have a super thickened and discolored big toenail on both my big toes from trauma, due to a cinderblock falling off a truck onto my feet. It ripped both nails almost completely off and because of that, some 13 years later I now deal with that issue. I'm guessing the only cure for it is to get them completely removed. I also didn't know that eczema could cause thickened toenails as well. I deal with eczema and I'm curious as to how that could affect it. 🤔

Did you end up getting it tested?

Thickened toenails called Onychauxis, theoretically can be cured with Tazarotene which reverses the process that causes hyperkeratosis of the nail matrix and nail bed.

Can Parkinson’s disease cause the nails to fall off

    Thank you for this video.
I have psoriasis & also injured my 1st 2 toenails on each foot that caused bruising & soon after lose of 3 of the 4 toenails back pretty far.
Now I think my psoriasis has joined forces with the injury to cause havoc.
My big toes look like you describe, and my dermatologist attributes it to my psoriasis flare ups, but I’m completely embarrassed because if anyone sees my toes they think I have a nasty fungus on my big toenail. 😢
I’m trying new options, like tiger balm to see if it will help slow down the psoriasis flare-up & let my toenails grow out & form a whole nail again. It’s almost 2 years since injury & I want to wear flip flops & prescription medicines just aren’t helping.

Nail conditions like you describe can be very frustrating to deal with.
