- The 2015 Ducati Scrambler was a huge success. Now this, the 2019 Scrambler Icon 800, like the old model, is simple, easy-to-ride, but now softer, more comfortable, with improved looks and features like DRL, and cornering ABS. If I had a garage, I'd probably put one in it. It's maybe the only Ducati I'd be interested in buying. Of course I'd have to go full exhaust and get some booming bark coming out of that 2-valve beasty.
Love the sound of that ride to the pub! See you there, on my Desert Sled model! Loving Ducati!
Looks like the number plate is on a hanger now rather than hanging out the back of the seat. Have a desert sled and really don’t miss gear change or fuel gauge. Just reset one of the trips when I fill up
ye, I do the same with the fuel, but I miss gear indicator.

Love it's exhaust.....
Thanks from Thailand
mcn is g8 as always!!
What possible justification is there for the £1,100 increase? Madness.
In 2015, the GBP to EUR currency conversion rate was 1.4. Now it's nearing 1.1
Because they know people will still buy it
Exchange rates and inflation unfortunately.☹️

know what else is a nice, easy, simple, fun bike? A Yamaha xsr700/900. Looks cool, sounds good, and won't cost you over a 1000$ a year in basic maintenance like the 'beginner' ducati scrambler will most definitely do. I'd imagine a lot of hip beginner riders get sucked in by the scrambler image, and then get smacked with that air cooled ducati maintenance going forward.
Man speaks truth.
I had never done any mechanical work on any bike before, but I bought my XSR 900 in Prague, and because the mechanics here are untrustworthy, I do everything myself (except tyre changes, and replacing the stock chain with a DID one, and sprockets).
I'm in Prague , does the authorised Yamaha dealer have a poor reputation ?
Ducati vtwin I like but not service charges - xsr900 is such a fun ride agreed
@@1275porsche Yes. I eventually bought my bike 'second-hand' (with 2500km on the clock) at the Honda dealership at AutoJarov. Yamaha dealer salespeople were not engaging nor interested in me or my acquaintance whenever we came in nosing around. Worst of all, the service people were shocking. I did a review on Google Maps...
Thanks for the info it doesn't surprise me, the Czech attitude of customer service is shocking !
"The clutch has gone from hydraulic to cable. On the old model it was cable and now it's hydraulic" Whut??
how are you going to ride in the heat of summer with the exhaust all on the right and under your leg. cannot Ducati build an exhaust that works better and cooler.
Monster 797 has the same engine, dual front disc and weighs less with a bigger fuel tank. You can argue about looks/style but that is personal preference.
True, except the Scrambler has 18" front, for a skosh more stability in the dirt, is 410 pounds wet, and from factory has a whole range of aesthetic packages and options. The 3.57 gal tank is a disappointment though.
@@exothermal.sprocket Where I live pretty much everything is tarmac so for me that is not an upside. Love the look of the classic though with the spoke wheels. I understand people who opt for the Scrambler. I own a zx6r and do about 6/7 trackdays a year and obviously do not go offroad so for myself I can not justify the Scrambler over the Monster. If I was buying a second bike the choice will possibly be different.
Makes sense. They do offer a host of options for the Scrambler.
Flat tracker motorcycles are running 18" front and back.
Scrambler styling is better than the cheapest monster imo
The Scramblers do look really good, for sure.
I am 6 '1 and the dealership is very far away from my home, am i too tall for it
Akshat Puhania depends on how long your legs are! I’m 6’3” and it fits me perfectly!
I like it.

The original had poor suspension and a tendency to shake its head under hard acceleration.
I will never own a Desmo bike. Too much money in valve adjustments and cam belt replacements. Cheap (maybe) upfront, expensive to maintain. No deal Ducati.
For the added cost of desmo maintenance, you've lost the cost of coolant maintenance. I'd say you've broken even. And who else is going to provide such a characterful barking motor in a 410 pound dirt-biting all around package with this sort of aesthetic appeal? Just hop on and ride. Back to basics with a lot of character.
Lifted_Above -- Coolant maintenance vs Desmo maintenance are not anywhere near each other in cost or frequency or complication. You're either trying to be very funny or you're unfamiliar with with what it takes to do various maintenance tasks or you're being disingenuous. Just about any novice mechanic can change coolant. I've been doing MC and automobile maintenance, including valve adjustments and way more complicated tasks for 50 years. I have no interest in getting the special tools and learning proper Desmo procedures. There aren't many DIY types who are willing to take the risks of exploding their Desmo engine because they want to save the considerable cost of the Ducati shop rape. Get real dude.
marscruz I am real dude. Owned 10 bikes. Ridden well over 50 kinds in demos. Mechanical engineering degree. Worked for a Ducati shop for a while.
The 803 and 1078 air cooled 2-valve lumps are durable, reliable, problem free, and work well in these bikes. They've been around for many years in one form or another. Ducati service intervals are extended these days, belts are reliable, and desmo cams aren't the big scary voodoo mystery everyone makes them to be. Sure it's not 25K valve inspection like a Japanese machine, but it's not ridiculous either. Sure it costs more than a Japanese machine, but it's not Panigale V4 money either.
You don't need to service any cooling system, that's money savings. No purchase of cooling system, no fluid maintenance of coolant system, no potential failure of cooling system, no thermostat issues, no temp sensor issues, and due to being air cooled the engines are under-stressed in compression ratio.
I'm allowed to exaggerate a bit. You're clearly exaggerating about Ducati in general along with everyone else who has some chip on their shoulder about brands they don't like, for one reason or another.
Lifted_Above Yes, I'm prejudiced against Ducati. Belts may be reliable but they are not durable (long lasting) like cam chains. I like tappet adjusters -- more than bucket shims -- and much more than Desmo cams. I don't like BMW's parts prices either, but I have owned three of them, including my current R1200RT. It takes about 30 minutes and no parts to adjust the valves on it. I do most of my own maintenance, including lubing the splines and brake work, etc.. My other bike is a KTM 950SM, with carbs. Neither bike has ever been to the dealer, except the wheels have been taken in when they need new tires.
The Scrambler is marketed as, and pretends to be, an entry level bike for people who are buying their first serious bike. We can start out on any size bike we want over here in the States. Not saying that it's smart, it's just the law.
I think newbies will be in for a surprise with the maintenance costs of many Euro bikes, especially a Ducati. It's not something a first timer has any idea of how expensive it can be. This is why newbies need to be made aware of and investigate the "Ducati Tax", i.e. the Desmo/cam belt scam. OK, scam is a strong word as the Duc has generally been targeted at upper level riders who liked the dry clutch clatter, the sometimes beautiful bodywork and the Italian "charm" -- and experienced riders are aware of how much that charm costs. They know and are willing to pay for that Ducati exclusivity and snob appeal. To each his own. Bike magazines are in the business of selling riders on new models = advertising $$$ from the bike makers. That's why they don't like talking about the maintenance costs, except occasionally on their long term bike reviews. If I got the itch for an Italian bike it would have to be an Aprilia for me. Enjoy the miles and smiles. That's why we ride.
marscruz "Yes, I'm prejudiced against Ducati."
You have every right to be. I allow you that. I'm not going to try to convince anyone against what they are willing to like, want, believe.
"They know and are willing to pay for that Ducati exclusivity and snob appeal. To each his own." Indeed. There are snobs in a lot of brands, especially Harley Davidson and BMW, also Ducati. But I don't buy into the culture of a machine, I simply judge a machine by the collection of parts and how it functions.
The dealer I worked in parts/service advisory role, was BMW/Ducati/Triumph dealership. I saw the prices in the books for maintenance because I was a service writer for people who came through the doors for parts or service.
I always thought there was a T in Ducati...maybe not Keith Lemon
So same bike then.
Why this bike is successful because it dont cost as much as a car.
1.1κ increase... LOL
Bargain. On euro to pound exchange rate changes should be over 1.5k increase.
