Twinborn Tier List would be insane but fun lol could probably turn that into a whole video series in its own right lol. Absolutely Compounding Tier list next because I have thoughts and I wonder on how we differ lol. First change I would make is Chromium is S Tier by your own definition used for Copper. Money is a MASSIVE deal and for some people the most massive. Being able to increase your luck and win nearly guaranteed money from a Casino or a Card Room? Easy S Tier for me. Iron is also an S for me but I understand the A rating. Steel is A for me as well but for a different reason. The drawback of Steel is that it doesn’t increase wind resistance or decrease friction so you have an upper limit to the speed you can run without setting yourself on fire or burning you skin off lol. That upper limit drawback puts it in A.

I think iron easily belongs in S tier. You said yourself it has no real drawbacks. The applications for making yourself lighter or heavier on demand are basically endless, and it synergizes very well with most of the other physical powers

Sorry but I can't look at our internet- plagued by paywalls, link rot, server failures, and a world where entire generations of books and films are on media that rotted before they could be stored on something more durable, and say that Copper isn't useful. I think when we see Era 3, unkeyed copperminds are going to be one of the key forms of data storage. Not to mention you don't have to understand what you're seeing to store it in a coppermind. You can skim things at speed, store them then open them up to peruse and decipher at your leisure.

@@coronin8587 this is more than just speculation, considering fact that this is exactly power Duralumin Medalions have, and they are often more limited than Metalborn. I definitely feel like Pewter and Steel should both be S tier easily. They have the most OP effects when tapping by far, especially Steel. Filling them also isn't really a problem. Think about how often you are just relaxing at your PC or watching tv or sitting in a car/public transit. Speed is definitely more of a hassle than strength but even it isn't terrible. You probably wouldn't even notice moving at say 95% speed most of the time. And you could honestly probably go like 10% strength when you are just relaxing.

I'm pretty sure chromium deserves to be S tier if it functions anything like other feruchemical abilities. Like, Sanderson would really have to bend over backwards to make the ability to decide how lucky you are at any given moment bad. And I know, having to spend time unlucky sounds like a huge drawback, but you have to think of it in terms of stakes: spend all day losing at poker only turn around and make all your money back with one crazy roulette bet and then you can pocket the exess fortune for when yoy actually need it. You also have to remember that feruchemical abilities can stack (compress? I wanna say compound but that means something very different) that is to say: you can store two hours of an attribute and then expend that attribute at double the rate for one hour, I don't think I need to outline why a couple hours of being mildly unlucky in order to be absurdly lucky for a couple of minutes is a completely worthwile trade. Extend this logic with a practice like Wax's constantly storing weight, but with luck, and sure you might stub your toe and get ran into on the street all the time, but you'll always have luck on your side when you really need it. Yes we haven't seen it in universe, so this is all speculative, but I habe a hard time believing Chromium isn't incredibly broken.

A couple of interesting details about feruchemy. First, there's reason to suspect that the effects of electrum and brass were swapped by mistake, as determination feels more like a cognitive effect and warmth fits better alongside the attributes of health, breath, and energy.
Second, there was apparent confirmation that the feruchemy symbols for chromium and nicrosil were swapped.

    • @ExploringTheCosmere

  • @macmay3042

I think you're giving bendalloy too much credit, it can help you slim down and that's about it. I'd put it in B to help hefty ferrings slim down but that's pretty much it.
I'd slip bronze down to A. It's nice that you can basically pick when to fall asleep like a switch and when to stay alert, but unlike how you can 'cheat' a brassmind by storing in a sauna, you can never really get more sleep than you would otherwise get without compounding. Like short jaunts if you're on a bus or train or someone else is driving. You can even store strength any time you're not actually using your muscles, but you really can't store brass unless you can be out of it.
Aluminum you are selling WAY short. It might not be that useful in everyday life, but there's reason to suspect that if you, for example, met an Awakener, you could store all of your own Identity, touch a rope they had Awakened, and grab the Breath right out of it. Or maybe even steal their Breath! Aluminum might be incredibly useful. Not guaranteed, but I think it deserves more than D.
I'd say you put iron a little too high. it's true that the downside isn't very down, but like, really, how often is it useful to weigh more or less? Outside of being a coinshot?
Minor, pedantic point. Marsh didn't have feruchemical speed when he took out the Inquisitors. The most feruchemy they had was gold.

4:08 Aluminum feruchemy, in the absence of the other Metallic Arts, could be bargain-bin emotion control. Store Identity to make people forget about you, tap Identity to make people pay attention. That's speculation, though.

@@eleishar18 oh damn, I assumed you could with every metal since you can do it with wakefullness. Still, I think they are S tier. For example right now I'm sitting in my desk studying. I wouldn't mind being 1/10 weaker, slower, seeing, hearing, smelling and tasting worse and being light as a cat. I'm not using those right now. And copper mind could help me for example memorize formulas for my exam, then store them, learn them again, and in case I forget them I have a backup. It'd be OP

  • @betrot2
    @betrot2 3 месяца назад

If we're looking at these for modern-day applications, I'd place steel and pewter at S-tier, as there are so many cases in modern life where you could be passively storing these to no detriment, and they'd be hugely beneficial to have in reserve.
Iron is B-tier imo. Yeah, there's no real drawback to storing it, but there's no massive gain to tapping it either outside of niche uses. It's the definition of mid.
Copper should be high A-tier or S-tier. Yeah general knowledge is easily accessible now, but personal information isn't always, and it would be a massive aid for students (I don't see it as cheating in an exam setting if it's literally your own memories you're accessing). Besides, imagine the benefits if a doctor can have entire volumes of medical textbooks or academic journals deposited into their brain in a moment or chefs with recipes that can be recalled in an instant. There are so many uses in professional and personal settings, where having instant access to information deposited straight into your brain is insanely useful
