Myself and my wife are just back from a 33 day trip touring Europe! On the itinerary was Switzerland 🇨🇭 and Austria 🇦🇹! Switzerland was incredible and beautiful. The best part was taking the train from Switzerland to Austria 🇦🇹. The Swiss Alps are Breathtaking!! We were in Triol Seefeld Austria 🇦🇹! A magical place not too be missed! Thanks 😊 for sharing your video!
Planning a trip to Germany & Austria. Booking a bus tour costs almost $10,000 for 2. Just sent this to my husband, we could probably save so much following your recommendations!
We always do our own tours. Our vacations are cheaper than Disney 😅. It’s not hard at all and you’ll love the adventure and stay longer at places that you vibe with.
This is such a wonderful vlog😇, the nature and the landscapes were breath taking, the dark clouds made the place look so beautiful. This vlog is the best. You guys are so lucky to visit this places.I need to see more vlogs like this showing the beauty of mother nature .And thank u so much for sharing this vlog of this beautiful place .
Such an interesting, informative and beautiful video of landscapes, activities and sites to see traveling Austria and Germany. I enjoyed this video immensely! Thanks Vines Realty for all the obvious research and information to make this a marvelous trip. Makes me want to pack my bags and travel across the world. ✈️
Thanks so much from this video i feel like i get there even though it was so impossible to get there and can't afford to travel on that place keep it up... More to come...
looks like you guys had great time. I love Germany and Austria, beautiful countries. I visited most cities in both countries. Can’t wait my next trip in October will definitely visit some of the spot that I haven’t seen thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for all the recommendations! We did a week last summer in Austria and S Germany on a fixed tour and loved it - going to freestyle it this year maybe so all your ideas will be checked out now once we get flights booked and the dog booked into for her holidays ! 😂 just need to sell a lot of property here first to boost the holiday funds !
13:15 This "guy" was Orlando di Lasso (1532-1594), who lived and died in Munich and was the most famous composer of the Renaissance and the first superstar of music. So it's quite fitting to repurpose his monument for Michael Jackson's memory as well. I think he would agree with that.
Your video has inspired me to book for last wk in Aug!! I’d love to rent a car & do a similar route. How expensive and difficult was finding parking? Esp in busier areas?
I think the ease and cost of parking varies some with the size of the city or town you’re in. From our experience, the smaller the town or city, the cheaper and easier parking is to find. That’s why we typically try to pick up a car after leaving the major city we fly into and drop it off on our way back in, which is what we did in Munich. And I’d say the cost was about on par with what you’d pay in the US. Hope you have a great time on your trip! ☺
Thank you guys looked at your video and could pic k up one destination then I could cover from Salzburg .then I'm spending an additional day to cover Berchtesgaden. It seems to be a great destination to go thank you very much i
Thanks for sharing your itinerary, its amazing . We are planning to do similar trip next year . I see your drove to all these places , can you share details on how you found parking or where did you park near main attractions?
Thanks for watching our video :) And that's cool, you're going to have a great trip! We honestly just used Google Maps to search out parking lots nearby the attractions we were going to. We had great luck with that!
Many thanks for that Great video. Wonderful places. I’m trying to find out these amazing spots for the my next trip. Do you mind write the names for these spots.. coz can’t find it all on the map.

@@jeby1425 Wow, that's a tough question! We really loved both countries! It's hard to say because we were only briefly in Austria, and even when we were in Germany we were just in Bavaria the entire time. I'd love to plan a trip back to both countries to more fully explore them! I will say, it seemed like the alps might've been a little more striking in Austria, but both places were fantastic!
We’ve only been once, at the end of May, so our experience is limited. But we loved the time of year we went! The weather was great and the crowds weren’t too bad either!
Thanks for the lovely video. We are actually taking a bus tour from Germany to Switzerland next week! Based on your driving experience, would u say we should sit on the drivers side for optimal views? 🤔
Thank you for watching! Oh man, that's a tough question! It might depend on your route. I'd probably look up the route on Google Maps and see which side of the road lakes and mountains are primarily on. And if you're going and coming back, I'd say just sit on the same side for both rides and then you get to see it all!
Thank you for your video, really like it. Just a small question about the name of the hike you really liked. The one you got lost on the first day arrived mittenwald and did the correct one the day after (starts from 7:20). I’m not sure whether it’s eibsee hike or something else. I like hiking and would love the do the same one that you did.
Thanks for watching! I found that hike from this article: fullsuitcase.com/seebensee-drachensee-hike-austria/. I also just looked it up and I’m pretty sure on AllTrails it’s called “Coburger Hütte and Drachensee from Tiroler Haus”. However, I did the loop counter clockwise. Not sure which way is better. I hope you get to do it because it was one of the highlights of the trip for me!
thank you for posting the video. just tip: could you had title in the videos or update the video descirption summary, to let viewers know which cities you visited in the video
Thank you! ☺ If we couldn’t have gone in May, our second choice probably would’ve been to go in September. Based on my research, it seems like a great time to go!
Hey! No, we didn't have any trouble finding a place to park. There was a large parking lot in town that we paid to park in. We had to walk to our hotel from there, but it wasn't too bad of a walk!
We did return the rental car when we arrived in Munich and took a train to and from the city center. I would recommend doing this if you’re mainly focused on seeing the city center. I personally think having a car in the city would more trouble than it’s worth!
We don't have a preferred rental car agency. We typically book whichever one has the best rates at the time. I think for this trip we booked with Europcar!
Hey Patricia, thanks for watching our video! We stayed at Weisses Lamm in Hallstatt and myMINGA4 in Munich, both booked on Booking.com. We booked the others on Airbnb: "Sleeping Goass 6" (in Bischofswiesen) and "Attic Apartment in Mittenwald No. 2" (in Mittenwald). I hope this helps!
Amazing journey! Can you please tell me how do did you go to Seebensee lake? Should I take a lift or there is aslo a road to go by car because we have a handicap sibling and Im wondering if we can go there . Thank you :)
Hey Maria, thanks for watching our video! There is a lift you can use that takes about a mile off the hike and reduces the total amount of elevation, but there are still several miles of hiking to get there. I would imagine it is very difficult or impossible with a wheelchair :( We used this website to get a lot of good info about the hike: fullsuitcase.com/seebensee-drachensee-hike-austria/
That's awesome - you're going to love it! We really liked all the places we visited in Germany! We personally enjoy the smaller cities and towns. So although we liked Munich, we would probably skip it for more smaller cities and towns next time. You can't go wrong with any of it though! ☺
We went at the end of May 2022!
It is in Austria! You would start and end at the Ehrwalder Alm lift. We got a lift ticket up the mountain and started the hike from there - it was definitely worth it for us!
Hey Natalie, thanks for watching! Unfortunately, we don’t have a written version of our itinerary. :( We didn’t actually even go on our trip with one. We just had a few things we knew we wanted to do and then left room for spontaneous things as well. If you have any specific questions, I’d be happy to try to answer them for you!
Such a helpful itenary definitely going to follow it what time of the year did you end up visiting Also wanted to ask where was the pick up and drop off location for your car hire 😊
After looking at your trip we have planned almost similar iternary, can you please help us with the exact location of George hike (The one you mentioned in your video at time 10:48) thanks
Hey Jitesh, that’s so cool! You’re going to have a great time! According to Google, the address for the Partnach Gorge Hike is Wildenau 14, 82467 Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. If you google “Partnach Gorge Hike” it should pull it up, and it has around 11,000 google reviews.
Hey Gustavo, thanks for watching our video! We booked the rooms beforehand. I know some people do it once they arrive, but we too scared to do that ourselves haha.
Hope that helps!
It was not very crowded at all! We just recently got back on May 31. From people we talked to it sounded like it would get a lot busier in June. So I’m glad we went when we did! And I think you do need an international drivers license, but I didn’t look into it too much because I already had one from a previous trip.
Hey, thanks for watching our video! We visited at the end of May. We have a AAA membership for our cars and we obtained the international drivers license through them. There wasn’t much to it, mostly just a small fee.
Thanks for watching our video! We stayed in Hallstatt, Berchtesgaden, Mittenwald, and Munich. As far as lakes and hikes, we visited lakes Königssee, Eibsee (we hiked around this lake), and Seebensee (we hiked to this lake together and then Will kept going and did a longer loop back). In addition to those hikes, we also did the Partnachklamm Gorge Hike (more of a short walk really). Hope that helps!

Hey Rebecca, thanks for watching our video! Depending on the price, I think I probably would rent a car again. It's obviously an added expense, but we liked the flexibility it provided, knowing we could go anywhere at anytime. And though I've heard the trains and buses are fantastic in that region, part of me thinks some of the things we did (like the Seebensee hike) might've been more difficult to figure out without a car. If we were just visiting bigger cities (Munich, Salzburg, etc), I probably would've opted for trains. I'm sure you'd have a great experience either way though!
Do we need to have a toll vignette to enter Germany from Austria. (I have hired a car and it has toll vigenette for Austria but not sure if we need a separate toll vignette for germany), Pls reply, thanks
As far as a toll vignette for Germany, I’m not sure. I’ve read conflicting things online. We didn’t have one, but we rented our car in Germany, so that might’ve made a difference. I would check with the company you rented a car through. They would definitely know!
I might be too late in answering but there is no toll for cars in Germany, so you are good to go with the Austrian one only! Also the shown itinerary would actually be possible without toll roads, from what I saw - maybe with slight detours. There is actually toll in Germany but only for trucks!
I'm a ww2 history fanatic and am 66 and retired and have never been to Europe. I was thinking of flying to Hamburg then briving over to berlin then south to Nuremberg and then Munich and ending in berchsgaden and the obersalzberg. I'm hoping to be able to rent a vehicle that i can sleep in but I'm afraid that might be a hope to far. Of course the Idea is to avoid the cost of hotels. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks. There are also some ww2 related places in Austria I would like to see. I have unlimited time.
That sounds like a great itinerary! I’m not 100% sure, but it sounds like from the little bit of looking I did that Germany has a lot of places you could park a sleeper van, and as long as you don’t unpack stuff outside of the van like you’re camping then you would probably be fine.
Such a beautiful country!! You did amazing job of capturing the scenery.Voice over and narration is top of class. I have quick question on renting and driving in Austria and Germany. Were you able to drive using your US license? Or you had to get an international permit?
Thanks so much! We actually got an international permit because of a different trip we were taking where we'd need one, so I didn't even really research it too much. But looking real quick online it seems like maybe you don't need one for Germany but do for Austria. You would probably want to verify that though!
Hello! What a wonderful video! I'm an Austrian girl (from the area of Salzburg) living in Spain. I looked it up and you can drive in Austria with your US driving license for 12 months. Hope you visit beautiful Austria and Germany! Lots of love from Spain
@@vinesrealtygroup we always used our US drivers license in Germany and Austria. We got pulled over once, in Salzkammergut Austria and had no problem with our license. Still had to pay a 25 Euro fine! Pulled out of a side street without completely stopping since we could see clearly all sided and there was absolutely no one (except a cop somewhere???).
Thanks so much for watching our video!

That's awesome - you're going to love it! We really liked all the places we visited in Germany! We personally enjoy the smaller cities and towns. So although we liked Munich, we would probably skip it for more smaller cities and towns next time. You can't go wrong with any of it though! ☺
Woow so very nice beautiful nature place enjoy your day stay safe god bless your family
Thanks for watching :)
Can you please list the places you visit? And which month you traveled ?
We went at the end of May 2022!
Hi this is really a great video. May know when was your travel period?
Thank you! We traveled at the end of May 2022.
Question about Seebensee. Is it not in located in Austria? Planning on a holiday in germany but can't seem to find the location.
It is in Austria! You would start and end at the Ehrwalder Alm lift. We got a lift ticket up the mountain and started the hike from there - it was definitely worth it for us!
Hi do you happen to have a word version of your itinerary?
Hey Natalie, thanks for watching! Unfortunately, we don’t have a written version of our itinerary. :( We didn’t actually even go on our trip with one. We just had a few things we knew we wanted to do and then left room for spontaneous things as well. If you have any specific questions, I’d be happy to try to answer them for you!
Such a helpful itenary definitely going to follow it what time of the year did you end up visiting
Also wanted to ask where was the pick up and drop off location for your car hire 😊
Thanks for watching our video! We went the last week of May, and picked up and dropped off our car directly from the airport in Munich.
What was the name of the town you did the Alps coaster ride?
Hey Gee, thanks for watching! It was Oberammergau
Beautiful video ❤.. can you please send me the link to contact the hotel in berchtesgaden..
Thank you for watching! This is the link to that airbnb: abnb.me/RpOIslfy2Hb
Perfect, thanks a lot
@@jiteshjain6418 You're welcome!
Hi! You did all your hotel reservations before the trip begins, or just found for accommodation after arriving at each place?
Hey Gustavo, thanks for watching our video! We booked the rooms beforehand. I know some people do it once they arrive, but we too scared to do that ourselves haha.
Wonderful vlog. Can you please list the name of the hotels you stayed?
We stayed at Weisses Lamm in Hallstatt and myMINGA4 in Munich, both booked on Booking.com. We booked the others on Airbnb: "Sleeping Goass 6" (in Bischofswiesen) and "Attic Apartment in Mittenwald No. 2" (in Mittenwald). Hope that helps!
@@vinesrealtygroup Thank you so much. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for posting, it seems nice, less crowd. What dates did you guys go there? Do you need an International license to drive there? Thanks.
It was not very crowded at all! We just recently got back on May 31. From people we talked to it sounded like it would get a lot busier in June. So I’m glad we went when we did!
And I think you do need an international drivers license, but I didn’t look into it too much because I already had one from a previous trip.
@@vinesrealtygroup Thank you so much.
woukd u know if the weather is Good too june 15? @@vinesrealtygroup
Which month did you visit Austria? Would you be able to share the process to obtain international driver license? Thank you
Hey, thanks for watching our video! We visited at the end of May. We have a AAA membership for our cars and we obtained the international drivers license through them. There wasn’t much to it, mostly just a small fee.
@@vinesrealtygroup thank you for the info. Your trip was awesome!!!
Do you have a list of places on this trip?
Thanks for watching our video! We stayed in Hallstatt, Berchtesgaden, Mittenwald, and Munich. As far as lakes and hikes, we visited lakes Königssee, Eibsee (we hiked around this lake), and Seebensee (we hiked to this lake together and then Will kept going and did a longer loop back). In addition to those hikes, we also did the Partnachklamm Gorge Hike (more of a short walk really). Hope that helps!
What’s the month in this video?
We traveled in late May!
Possible to share the Air BNB link?

If you got to do this trip again, would you recommend renting a car and driving or using trains?
Hey Rebecca, thanks for watching our video! Depending on the price, I think I probably would rent a car again. It's obviously an added expense, but we liked the flexibility it provided, knowing we could go anywhere at anytime. And though I've heard the trains and buses are fantastic in that region, part of me thinks some of the things we did (like the Seebensee hike) might've been more difficult to figure out without a car. If we were just visiting bigger cities (Munich, Salzburg, etc), I probably would've opted for trains. I'm sure you'd have a great experience either way though!
@@vinesrealtygroup thanks so much for that feedback! Very helpful.
@@GlobetrotterGranny You're welcome!
Beautiful couple,i enjoyed it very much 👌😊💗💞💕
Thank you for watching :)
Hi what month did you guys travel to Austria?
Hey, thanks for watching! We traveled there in May 2022.
What month was this filmed in?
It was filmed in May 2022!
Hi, is the rented car with 1500km mileage allowance will be enough for the whole trip?
Hey George, thanks for watching! I think it should be enough, but it would be getting close depending on what all you did or added.
Which time of the year did you go ???
We went in May!
Saw in some of you comment you took the trip in May .. could you please tell me was this early mid or late May?
It was late May! ☺
@@vinesrealtygroup thanks
Hi😊, you probably know Austria very well, do you know if there are any pine trees in Austria?
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately, I have no idea about the pine trees 😅
@@vinesrealtygroup no problem 😊!! and your welcome ☺️
yes there are pine trees in Austria called Kiefer - but I am not sure we mentioned the same tree - why are you asking?
Love from Austria🇦🇹
Never heard of the Austrian pine? you can buy a seedling everywhere. Anyway, 60 % of the trees in Austria are pine.
@@vinesrealtygroup
A little late, but no tolls on German highways.
Veri nice pictures!
Thanks!
@@vinesrealtygroup thank you
Such a beautiful country!!
@@vinesrealtygroup thank you for the prompt response. I’ll check it out
