Growing up watching the Sound of Music, Salzburg was such a huge bucket list destination for me, and how lucky were we to have two full days of sun in the city! 😁 Next week, we’ll be sharing our day trip to the alpine town of Hallstatt, so stay tuned for our Austria series finale! 🇦🇹 Other incredible things to do in Salzburg, Austria: 🎶 Salzburg Original Sound of Music Tour - bit.ly/43kLLdv 🏰 Best of Mozart Fortress Concert and Dinner - bit.ly/3WOYVx2 ⛰ Half-Day Tour to Hallstatt From Salzburg - bit.ly/3WT0WZ1
So wonderful. Sound of music is timeless. I got to go to rural China when I was young and 1 time at the back of an old train there was about 100 elementary school kids. They didn't speak any English but they all spontaneously started singing to me and my family: a doe.. a deer.. a female deer 🎶 ...and they knew the whole song and every song from Sound of Music!! Very magical especially as they hardly knew anything of the outer world!!
I want to thank you for this video! I'm from Alabama and spent last week traveling through southern Germany and also stayed in Salzburg for two nights. My friend and I stopped in the St. Peter Stiftskulinarium restaurant for a cheese plate and drinks as a result of watching this video! Wonderful experience. Keep creating great travel content! 😎
The fountain inside the Müllnerbräu was and will never be used to draw beer yourself. Controlled by a sensor, it releases water to rinse the beer mug. But for me this beer garden and the beer there are the best in Salzburg. I go there four to five times a year. Greetings from this city!
I was in Vienna this summer and fell in love with this beautiful city. I really had wanted to visit Salzburg but it just didn't fit with the timing of our other events and places we needed to be. I also grew up loving the Sound of Music. This video and your one on Christmas markets has made me realize I need to go back and do these things and visit the places I wanted to but couldn't fit in.
Was in Salzburg 4 or 5 years ago for the Christmas markets, and we were lucky enough to be there for the running of the Krampus. It was so much fun. Great city.
The nicest thing about Austrian deserts for the most part is that the sugar is very little. You can eat and enjoy a dessert without feeling like throwing up. Everything baked either that morning or a few hours ago-nothing from the day before. Love it. I feel lucky to stay in this country. 🇦🇹🙌
@@sleepnomore6065 they are sold in bulk at a cheap price 10 minutes before closing and the ones that will be good enough to donate are donated, the ones they don’t deem to be good enough for consumption after a day are thrown away. Which is very little.
I spent the 1995-96 academic year as a graduate student in my university's exchange program in Salzburg. If you get the chance, visit the city during other seasons and experience more of its culture in different conditions.
Just started following your channel it is fantastic. My wife and I are going to Vienna, Salzburg, and on to Switzerland for my 70th birthday tour next year and this video gives us some great ideas.
Great videos... brought back fond memories for both of us. We had such fun and made new lifelong friends at the Augustiner (beer may have helped😂). We went to the original Lackner Kunsrhandwerk music box shop and bought something fun there. The Sound of Music is my second favorite movie... took the tour while in Salzburg and sang in falsetto on the minivan with everyone joining in and laughing... we dined at St Peter too... yum... off to Switzerland 🇨🇭 soon... yay.❤
Great video! You managed to show us the great city of Salzburg, Austria. I liked the aerial view of the city from atop of the castle on top of the mountain. I always wondered how you can eat as much as you do. Now I know how you do it. You must walk about 10 miles a day while filming a video. I liked the cooking class too. The apple strudel looked delicious, except the table spoons of sugar were more like small shovels of sugar. Chad’s research really paid off when he found the cave-like restaurant with bohemian decor. Watching your travel videos opens our horizon to what the world has to offer.
We have really enjoyed your trip to Austria! We visited Austria several years ago, and your trip has brought back great memories. But I just wanted to say the very brief moonrise timelapse clip at 9:55 of the video was terrific! The moving clouds and the rising moon - really nice.
Hey Claire, nice to see that you liked my hometown so much. Since while watching your travel-report I found out, that you love "the sound of music", you might wanna have a look at the SoM-videos I did. Enjoy and have a good day.
Hi! FYI- the spot you thought was for filling your own beer was never that.....cool water to cool your stein before you have it filled with the beer....
Austrian beer is great, that's why we have so many alcoholics. Wein is great too, and dont even get me started on Schnaps, the thought of it alone makes me shiver.
I was born in austria and my grandmother's house was very close to the augestiner brewery and what Chad thought was a self serve station was actually a mug wash station
Love you video, very informative and different to others. I am planning to go there myself so yours is very useful. I would like to know where you stayed in Zalzburg though. Keep it up you two, will follow you from now on. Thanks
Don't you just love exploring the old world charm of so many European cities? I don't sense that here in the US...tho we have lovely cities..it's just different. Keep exploring! Hi from Wisconsin 🍺 😊
Some small things noticed by a real Salzburgian (born and raised): The reason why the Mirabell gardens are outlined so perfectly with Festung Hohensalzburg, has a very earthly reason. Back in the day, Castle Mirabell was built for the mistress of then Duke Archbishop of Salzburg Wolf Dietrich, with whom he had 14 kids. As the Festung was the official residence of the archbishop he always wanted to have a look at where his mistress and kids lived. Müllnerbräu is still a monastery, that is why you have a curfew in the garden at 11pm. There are not that many monks left though in the monastery, and the brewery is being run no longer by the monks themselves. You were also never allowed to fill your own beer, it is for cleaning the mugs, as they could have been on the shelves for some time and might be dusty. Topfenstrudel btw is made of curd, not cheese.
I just found you guys because me and my hubby went to Salzburg 2 days ago and it’s so cool to see your guys view of the trip!😍 I already love your content you got a new subscriber ☺️
A side question: what kind of selfie stick you have that can hold a big camera? Were you able to put it in your carry-on luggage going through airport security? Thanks.
Nice video ! Was there in 2016 but stayed in nearby Berchtesgaden also beautiful ,so many things to see there stayed 3 days and used the 3 day pass that allowed access to the busses and to many attractions in Salzburg As well as the tram up the mountain in Untersberg , well worth the 15 euros for 3 days ....Going again next year ...If you really want to check out a cute little town lookup Triberg , it,s where most wood carvings come from and most of all cuckoo clocks are made!
We have been following you since your van days…and love your channel. As vegans we are now starting to see slightly more compliant (to our dietary needs) dine out opportunities in the USA and Canada. Have you made note of many vegan options on your journey. For instance, have you noticed any vegan options during your time in Austria?
Hello 👋 😊 from North Carolina! I really enjoy watching 👀 your videos! I love how much information you both share. I have a question, how do you decide where (country)you go each trip? Thank you 😊 and happy travels 🎉🌍🌎🌏🏜🏝🏞🏔🏕🌋✈️🛣
You never could fill your own beer, the spigots inside are, just as they are outside, for cleaning out your mug. Also not raspberry jam but lingonberry.
Can anyone suggest Among these four place ,suggest any two place to visit in Austria in May month- Vienna, Hallstatt , innsbruck or Salzburg ( any two palce as all four not possible)
vienna&salzburg then. hallstatt is a little harder to reach, so i would skip it if you only have time for 2 cities since you'll lose on transfertime to hallstatt.

I was there in September 2023 for 3 nights. Loved the town and the people I encountered.
proud to say that I live there
even if the overtourism is totally annoying for large parts of the year.
