    When I was looking up information when making my first infinity mirror, I came across some images and videos of infinity cubes, and definitely wanted to make one of my own. The main thing that was holding me back was that I wanted to do it differently than anyone else. I think I finally came up with a design that is different.

    I’m totally fascinated by your project! While I question whether not I could make this, a complete parts list would help - possibly even the drawing needed to submit to get the led boards. Thank you!

      I'm glad you liked this! The description of this video has all the parts that I used.
      I have also included a link to my Instructables page where I have all the instructions typed out (with pictures.) My Instructables page also includes a link to the files for the board. You can either edit the files to customize it, or just upload them to a manufacturer to get the same boards I used in this video.

    I can’t believe you soldered it all by hand... or that everything is from scratch and by hand, completely DIY.... that’s hardcore... I would definitely pay for the service of having it pre-soldered. Well done!

      The circuit board manufacturer that I used offers that as an additional service! It ended up being almost 100 LEDs and capacitors, so that service would definitely be a benefit to use that service. I'm glad you liked the project!

      I'm glad this video was inspirational, I would love to see how yours turns out! One oversight that I made with this design caused me to short out an Arduino. Since the aluminum tape conducts around the corners, I needed to file the corners of the tape to break the continuity. I added this change to my video for making the stand.

    New subscriber here.. I just watched this video and thought wow! Nice looking cube but the base has got to go! It doesn't match. Then realized later in the video you mentioned you will update it. 😉
    Just my opinion but I would go with aluminum base or something futuristic. Your cube looks futuristic and I am going to have to copy it 👍😉. Can't wait for your 2nd video on the base.

    • @HowDoYouDIY
      @HowDoYouDIY  4 года назад

      I don't really like this base much either. Originally I wanted to carve a hand to hold the cube, but that's a bit beyond my skill level right now. Then I was thinking a spiraling base would look cool, but I couldn't get that to work out for me. This was quick and basic, but like you said, it doesn't match.
      The new base similar to this one. It does look a bit better, but still not what I want. The next video mentions some important things to consider when making a design. One of the things I love about this cube design is that you can build several different bases and easily move it from one to another 😉
      I hope the video helps and I would love to see how you improve on my design!

      @@HowDoYouDIY I am definitely going to be making one like you did. And the tack idea was absolutely brilliant!! Really I love the idea to Pick it up and sit it down closes the circuit 😉👍. Most cubes require a 3d printer which I don't have yet. So I was excited to see your design. I'm not to sure I can improve your design but I think I can copy your design 😉

    • @HowDoYouDIY
      @HowDoYouDIY  4 года назад +1

      Those were the main things I wanted to accomplish with my design. I'm so glad it worked out as well as it did. If you notice, when the lights are on you can see the corners light up. I didn't expect that. I didn't even notice that until I was taking pictures of it. And I love that it does that! One thing I would recommend would be to sand the plastic at those corners on the inside of the box before assembling it. That should help the corners light up better. Good luck with your results! Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

      I’ve given the idea a good go before. Will need to do the math for power draw from the LEDs, with the levitation distance and induction strength to get enough current in it. Also the magnetic interference from magnets used to levitate it and how it will effect the induction strength.... So maybe?

      @@HowDoYouDIY I'm currently working on a similar project using those LEDs in a battery powered lamp and I'm trying to spec the batteries for a reasonable runtime, that's where the question comes from. • @HowDoYouDIY

      Interesting coincidence... I'm working on a lamp too 🤔 I'm using rgbw LEDs though. I was thinking of using an external battery pack and just test the runtime. There is a tool I've been thinking about getting that may be able to test the power consumption. Maybe I'll just get it and try it out.
