You know, there's a couple of things that if I had in a cupboard I might be like okay I can use this for the one time in a year I'm cooking a papaya or some shit but nothing worth going out to buy unless you see something you could use.
I have this and actually really like it. I'm left handed and Dyspraxic, so I find using scissors quite difficult, these are a lot easier to use for me, I use it mostly to cut up chicken and veg.
To be fair, you only started to struggle AFTER the handle broke - so it might have something to do with that why it didn't work as well as it claimed. Still probably better to just get a knife and a cutting board, longterm.
Yeah, but to be unfair to the scissor slicer, it broke after he tried to cut something it claimed it could cut. Tho i think the one in the infomercial was made of metal, so that would make it more robust. The big problem with this thing is that it's impossible to sharpen, and once it's dull, it's worthless.
Well, yeah, but they don't show it being cooked, so it's a mistake anyone who'd seen the infomerical could've made. It's not Mike's fault they were deceptive about it's capabilities. Also, most vegetables in commercials like these are parcooked to make the item seem to work better. However that doesn't mean they aren't implying that the CC can't do it. Especially as they say "So sharp, they can cruise through corn on the cob." I mean, a butter knife could cruise through sufficiently cooked CoC.
I feel bad for the inventors of these products because I have a hunch that they design something that legitimately works, but then the company who they sell the patent redesigns it to be cheaply mass-produced in China to sell for $19.99 or so to the point where it's no longer able to perform the basic functions that the prototype was able to successfully do. Either that or it wasn't that good of a design in the first place.
The ones I feel really bad for are the ones that design something for the disabled community, but whoever tries to bring the thing to market both makes it cheaper AND tries to gear it to the 'general' community, so it ends up ineffective for one and a joke in the other.
It isn't just a dumbass idea at all, I have one of these (albeit a different brand, mine is 'Clever Cutter' and not 'Scissor Slicer') and it works absolutely brilliantly. Mike seems like a great guy and I'm not that much of a penis that I would take shots at someone for buggering up a video but he wasn't using that thing correctly at all, and if he hadn't broken the bloody thing then it would have chopped the other things easily if it was used properly. I''ve been chopping fruit and veg with mine for at least a year and I think that it's great. Unless this one Mike was using was just a really cheapy model or something that cost half the price of the one I got. You get what you pay for more often than not in this world. :)
i understand quality of these is all over the place. Some brands are quite good, but many are just terrible. Definitely check for reviews of the specific one you're looking at before purchase.
Mike. I found an actual Clever Cutter (brand new) that I can send you. That is IF you want to do the infomercial again with the REAL product and not a knock-off. You can see if the name brand product really can cut through corn on the cob. Let me know and I can ship it to you. I assume you have a post office box and not your personal home address?
This thing actually sounds like a good idea, provided you get one made with better materials. Of course, after breaking it nothing else was going to be properly cut by it. Perhaps the "Clever Cutter" is better built, who knows. Of course, it's a problem to cut larger things.
I've seen you pop up in the comment section of 4 different videos recently. Heh, you need to stop watching youtube videos and get a life. Aha.. haha.. ha... *Cries*
You have no idea how happy I am to find you're still doing videos. To my shame when i went on hiatus from channel awesome a while back I forgot to get everyone's channel names written down before leaving. You were one of my favorite content creators but by the time I came back blip had exploded and it was a ghost town. You were the last person I needed to find I think so I'm finally subbed again to everyone I was supposed to be keeping up with in the first place XD
I have been looking at these for someone with arthritis and poor hand strength who struggles with knives when chopping veg (can't grip the smaller handles well) so I'm pretty glad you covered this one!
For those types of packaging, the trick is to use a can opener. Takes off the edge, and all you're left with is the plastic sheet to unfold and pull out the item inside.
does appear the one on the infomercial has a longer tang handle... but the hande should have a full metal core from tip to end, then it would work well... plastic just snaps
It's a pretty good excuse actually. Turns out when you break things they tend to stop working And given he was using a knock off version which hadn't actually claimed to be able to cut through corn.. ..
It actually doesn't look that bad. It at least works for vegetables. Also the original looks sturdier, so that one might be better. I think it's worth a shot.
0:55 Why only pepperoni and not other type of sausages? 4:44 I think that corn not only broke the handel but also make blade blunt. If they didn't claim it can do corn, you could use it longer, then again, it woudn't last long anyway.
I have a product similar to this and it's actually great. This one does not look the same, on mine the blade slides below a platform so it fully cuts through, instead of leaving an awkward skin. It also has some serration. I actually find it to be a very useful device, it makes for much less clean up. I haven't cut corn on the cob with it, though. I have no idea why one would want to, either.
0:00 It looks like one of those products that are good until they stop working and there is no way to fix/sharpen/replace any part of it without a huge amount of hassle. 2:38 Never mind... that doesn't look like it would slice through cold cheese. 5:30 Well it was working better than I thought... I am not sure if my initial estimate was right or if it was because you broke it on the corn.
This may sound odd... But thanks for clarifying you weren't just wasting the food. I know it's your own business but I can't help but feel so uncomfortable when someone does that... even in the uk there are so many people who would even appreciate the bits you have there so thank you. Also well done re CA, you were brave for speaking up and I admire you greatly. Already a fan before i knew you even worked with them tbh.
I just love how they had to use an extremely dull knife (having to saw through celery) very ineptly (using the tip of the knife to cut carrots) in order for the clever cutter to be faster!
I actually use this and it's really handy. Less of a mess to clean up when chopping up stuff. Mine is a bit sturdier and looks more like the infomercial design though.
I was once staying at a relatives place for a while, they had one of these but they didnt really use it at all. I used it to cut cheese with it until I realized that using a knife is more efficient. Never knew it had an infomercial.
products that claim as 'As Seen On Tv' are actually not on the main tv channels, but 24/7 salespersons channels like QVC, Quick Price Tv, and Ideal Home.
I have a Clever Cutter and it's actually pretty useful. It's not particularly ergonomic but it's definitely easier than using a knife if you just want to slice things.
Mike, Watching you try to cut through that red onion was seriously strssing me out; I was so worried about your fingers on that one! D:! have you ever consider investing in a chainmail gauntlet? not only is it a beautiful accessory but its *Mostly* cut proof! :D
Well, obviously it's not going to cut through soft, uncooked bread as quickly as the infomercial. Not that I think it could cut through an actual cooked baguette easily either. You're kind of meant to tear those apart or use a bread knife to saw through them.
AliExpress sells plenty of knock-offs so never trust the pictures. Also if the product is genuine there is a reason why the price is so cheap. That is because the workers in China are very badly paid.
Tbf from the infomercial it looks like the actual Clever Cutter has some metal in the handle which would probably prevent the handle from breaking like it did.
A decent pair of pruning shears would do everything this product can, and do it better. A good quality one is made of forged steel (or at least iron), not plastic. So it won't break like this one did. Plus they have a rounded cutting blade which is far better for cutting into hard objects like the corn cob. So if a knife and cutting board is really so terrible for you for whatever reason, just get a brand new pair of secateurs.
Wait, the Scissor Slicer you have IS different from the Clever Cutter. The Clever Cutter has more metal going up the handle; it seems to have more structural integrity compared to the Scissor Slicer's cheap, thin plastic handles. The Clever Cutter could clearly handle more 'oomph' without breaking, so cutting through onions and corn might be possible with the original product.
As soon as I saw the infomercial I was like "Nice idea, build quality is gonna suck." Nailed it! Sad thing is that if this was made with actual durable strong materials like, say, stainless steel - instead of cheap flimsy plastic - it might've been good. Guess not though. :(
I actually have something that looks identical to the "clever cutter" but is a rip-off from Hong Kong, and I love it! Admittedly I've never tried cutting bread (what the heck) or cheese or corn on the cob with it...I mean, you kind of have to use your common sense with it. I use it to cut small fiddly things like garlic so as to save having to scrape it off the chopping board into the pan and just...have it go right into the pan. It lasted me for about a year although it did recently break. :( I'm hoping to replace it though.
I don't see how one can cut bread with something like that anyways. Bread needs a saw toothed blade and to be sawed because it's soft. Something like that is just going to squish it.
I've finally done it, I've binge-watched the entire Infomercialism playlist and I'm up to date. :D
You know, there's a couple of things that if I had in a cupboard I might be like okay I can use this for the one time in a year I'm cooking a papaya or some shit but nothing worth going out to buy unless you see something you could use.
About...5, if you only count products made that are still on sale, Ulgrotha.
i am so sorry ...
I’ve watched the entire playlist more times than I care to mention.
Worlds worst achievement. Well done
So this is what Mike used to cut ties with Channel Awesome.
Mr Shambleface *O O F*
Mr Shambleface Wait did he leave Channel Awesome?
Wocka wocka ;)
Like a bad habit,about 2wks ago
Is this why RUclips has been recommending his channel?
OK, RUclips.
I have this and actually really like it. I'm left handed and Dyspraxic, so I find using scissors quite difficult, these are a lot easier to use for me, I use it mostly to cut up chicken and veg.
Makes total sense. The thickness of the veggie slices would annoy me tho.
To be fair to the Scrissor Slicer/Clever Cutter, the corn in infomercial seemed to be cooked beforehand and Mike used an uncooked one.
The product in the informercial was not the same one Mike used, so the comparison is invalid.
Well, if you took the time to read my first post, you'd see that I ALREADY MADE THAT POINT. But you didn't.
Good thing that is not the case - it is just a dumb idea that a child would come up with.
You mean fidget spinners?
It isn't just a dumbass idea at all, I have one of these (albeit a different brand, mine is 'Clever Cutter' and not 'Scissor Slicer') and it works absolutely brilliantly.
Mike seems like a great guy and I'm not that much of a penis that I would take shots at someone for buggering up a video but he wasn't using that thing correctly at all, and if he hadn't broken the bloody thing then it would have chopped the other things easily if it was used properly.

One week on: preparing all my food with infomercial products.
ö. . , think he broke all of them. Lol
Omg yES
In the next series : Mike does "A Week On Hospital Food" while recovering from cutting his willy off.
I would thumbs up that comment all day. Nice XD
You would never recover from cutting your willy off
The willy chopping bit must be a Patreon exclusive
And now everyone is searching Mike's willy cutting video from LiveLeak and many other uncensored websites.
It was. He did. It was messy and Grace was apparently not amused afterward :P
@@strongblade He did just cut the tip...
'So what should I chop first?... not my wily...' he's become self aware! He knows what we were going to suggest before we even suggested it!!
Make sure he signs a contract that says he has to stick his willy in it first
@mipmipmipmipmip. I saw that as well. And you're right. It very well could change the outcome! I'd like to see Mike give it a go!😀
@BADASSMANDO. LOL Gross! If he does that, then he won't be able to use it for cooking anymore!
His po box is in the description.
Why would he use his willy for cooking?
(pronouns are fun to abuse)
you have to cook the corn before cutting it like that 😂😂
I'm a little baffled as to WHY someone would want to cut corn like that.
Well, since you already did cheese I guess the next question to ask is does it shave ice?
Yeah, seems like it stopped working after the corn. I imagine it would do everything other than that corn cob.
This thing actually sounds like a good idea, provided you get one made with better materials. Of course, after breaking it nothing else was going to be properly cut by it. Perhaps the "Clever Cutter" is better built, who knows. Of course, it's a problem to cut larger things.
Holy crap he actually put cheese in it.
But not his willy.
Correction. SMEGMA
It looks like it would start making your hand ache within 10 seconds and it would be hard to cut through more than 1 rib of celery.
It wasn't a particularly good clever cutter, but as he ended the video he just... popped it in the bin! :P
I've seen you pop up in the comment section of 4 different videos recently. Heh, you need to stop watching youtube videos and get a life. Aha.. haha.. ha... *Cries*
You have no idea how happy I am to find you're still doing videos. Keep up the great work! Can't wait for you to get to 100k... not long now, Mike.
Maybe they can invent one that cuts open its own packaging
Hatchimals did that. But it was so boring to watch that most children just used a hammer to open it.
For those types of packaging, the trick is to use a can opener. Takes off the edge, and all you're left with is the plastic sheet to unfold and pull out the item inside.
Good idea. If only they hadn't cut corners on material.
Found your channel a few days ago bloke, loving it so far, subbed right away and i plan on keeping it that way. lovely channel with my type of humour
does appear the one on the infomercial has a longer tang handle... but the hande should have a full metal core from tip to end, then it would work well... plastic just snaps
is it possible that the reason it didn't work for the onion, bread, and cheese, is because the corn broke it?
It's a pretty good excuse actually. Turns out when you break things they tend to stop working
And given he was using a knock off version which hadn't actually claimed to be able to cut through corn.. ..
I thought knockoffs were worse than the originals in almost every case
It actually doesn't look that bad. It at least works for vegetables. Also the original looks sturdier, so that one might be better. I think it's worth a shot.
I could have diced all those things easily with my actual knives and in half the time. That includes corn on the cob.
0:55 Why only pepperoni and not other type of sausages?
4:44 I think that corn not only broke the handel but also make blade blunt. If they didn't claim it can do corn, you could use it longer, then again, it woudn't last long anyway.
„Slice a steak for a quick and delicious dinner“, because slicing it is what takes the most time about making a steak.
Thanks for uploading and making my day 100% better. You rock ✌🏼

2:38 Never mind... that doesn't look like it would slice through cold cheese. 5:30 Well it was working better than I thought... I am not sure if my initial estimate was right or if it was because you broke it on the corn.
might be more useful if it was made of metal rather than chinese plastic. but even then, i'd still prefer a decent knife
Lots of love for infomercialism...your week ons got me hooked but these are just as funny 😁
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they used cooked corn on the cob in the infomercial.
Can’t wait for more Eggcellent videos😂👍
Great video as always
I just love how they had to use an extremely dull knife (having to saw through celery) very ineptly (using the tip of the knife to cut carrots) in order for the clever cutter to be faster!
I actually use this and it's really handy. Less of a mess to clean up when chopping up stuff. Mine is a bit sturdier and looks more like the infomercial design though.
LoL. Oh Mike. I want to thank your parents for having you. You're pure gold my good man! Always a bright light in my dark, dreary world. 💗👍🌼✌🍀
It actually did quite well with the cucumber and carrot. I like how you were genuinely cracking up at 5:56 😆 hah!
"Let's just cut the tip"
-MikeJ (2018)
I have a Clever Cutter and it's actually pretty useful. It's not particularly ergonomic but it's definitely easier than using a knife if you just want to slice things.
I think you summarized it perfectly - "well that's weak and terrible"
That's some quality product. Breaking in completely normal use, in the first five minutes.
Mike did you see how quick the ad did the carrot?! I was hoping to see some real speed! Still you brightened my day lol.
Mike, Watching you try to cut through that red onion was seriously strssing me out; I was so worried about your fingers on that one! D:! have you ever consider investing in a chainmail gauntlet? not only is it a beautiful accessory but its *Mostly* cut proof! :D
I noticed the blade in. The infomercial is completely different.
I've had an ad for rgb toilet bowl lighting before this video...
So did I, funnily enough. I wonder if yt is giving us a hint on what next for Mike to review.
Well, obviously it's not going to cut through soft, uncooked bread as quickly as the infomercial. Not that I think it could cut through an actual cooked baguette easily either. You're kind of meant to tear those apart or use a bread knife to saw through them.
See Mike J's other actual "Clever Cutter" review. Different results from Scissor Slicer. Fair review.
Now I want cheese. And my fish want cucumber. This is all your fault.
Give them all your cucumber
Okay... They can have all 0 of my cucumbers.
I love you Mike J!!!
You know, I never knew scissors had been around for 3-4 thousand years; but I do now, and I'm glad I do
What were you expecting to happen when you tried to cut stuff while the thing had a broken handle?
3:31 : I just saw your finger flash before my eyes...
JML want £14 for theirs, but the exact same pair are on AliExpress for £3
AliExpress sells plenty of knock-offs so never trust the pictures. Also if the product is genuine there is a reason why the price is so cheap. That is because the workers in China are very badly paid.
amazing salad 10/10 love this recipe
These products always work better in the commercials than they do in real life.
You know a product is of highest quality when it tells you to do something that breaks it!
Tbf from the infomercial it looks like the actual Clever Cutter has some metal in the handle which would probably prevent the handle from breaking like it did.
I nearly died when you said "What should I chop first? Not my willy." LMAO!!!
Man...to be honest, the idea sounds pretty great. Hopefully someone does a version with a sharper Blade.
I just don't get all these items trying to replace a Knife. The knife works fine...it really doesn't need to be improved upon.
You should do a day on items from the Infomercialism videos.
I feel like you need to try this again with a new one, once it was broke it voided any further tests. No way was it gonna cut bread either way though,
there is also a 'Clever Cutter 6 in 1 Kitchen Knife Stainless Steel Food Scissors' also...LOL
Are those good for circumcising? Asking for a friend.
these are actually useful for people with arthritis, my parents have on and they like it
A decent pair of pruning shears would do everything this product can, and do it better.
Nearly at 100k mike 👍🏻
always makes me wonder what they actually used in the commercial... why does that one work and not what we get?
I think since you buggered the scissor slicer with the corn, the remaining veg/bread being cut were ultimately compromised, WHERE'S BASIL?
why didn't you buy the one from the actual infomerical... it looked much better in terms of quality.
You didn't have any sheet metal to try?
03.31, careful of your finger!! Yay for good coordination!
You made it onto lad bible mike congrats
Wait, the Scissor Slicer you have IS different from the Clever Cutter. The Clever Cutter has more metal going up the handle; it seems to have more structural integrity compared to the Scissor Slicer's cheap, thin plastic handles. The Clever Cutter could clearly handle more 'oomph' without breaking, so cutting through onions and corn might be possible with the original product.
When I was a kid my grandma literally just had a strong pair of scissors that she used for every food that she could fit them around
But you can buy clever cutter online there are loads of them? 🙃
Where did you get your shirt from?! 👌🏻i need this in my life!
Edward Scissorhands at 2:51 haha ✂️✂️
You never se ads where the scissor style cutters actually cut anything into fine slices, they're all chunky
I'm mad that you chose to break it before getting to cheese, now we will never know it's true efficacy in that arena
But does it cut butter?
Genuinely the most grumpy, cynical, english video and I love it
As soon as I saw the infomercial I was like "Nice idea, build quality is gonna suck." Nailed it! Sad thing is that if this was made with actual durable strong materials like, say, stainless steel - instead of cheap flimsy plastic - it might've been good. Guess not though. :(
4:50 And there's a reason bread knives are serrated, and you saw with them.
do one on the samurai 360 rolling knife
I actually have something that looks identical to the "clever cutter" but is a rip-off from Hong Kong, and I love it! Admittedly I've never tried cutting bread (what the heck) or cheese or corn on the cob with it...I mean, you kind of have to use your common sense with it. I use it to cut small fiddly things like garlic so as to save having to scrape it off the chopping board into the pan and just...have it go right into the pan. It lasted me for about a year although it did recently break. :( I'm hoping to replace it though.
But what did Basil think of it?
Therm Scissorpunch.
You want sexual relations with it
It broke on the corn. Is it a coincidence that it didn't get on with any of the foods tested after that?
Cut to: someone in the comments screaming at Mike that corn on the cob is cooked corn.
Clever Cutter is what they used to call me in high school.
I don't see how one can cut bread with something like that anyways. Bread needs a saw toothed blade and to be sawed because it's soft. Something like that is just going to squish it.
