Homeschool mama here. I was about to throw in the towel so to speak. I took all of our expensive boxed curriculum and threw it in the trash one day. It was thousands of dollars waisted on a set "school at home" and it did NOT work. It was exhausting and my kids hated it. I found the book called Mother Culture and did not know it was a homeschool book. I purely bought it because I wanted to be where that mother was in life that is shown on the picture. I wanted to be calm and happy enjoying my children's lives. I figured if I worked on myself first then maybe I could go back to homeschool. I started by just reading good literature to my children. It has changed everything! They are learning by leaps and bounds in comparison to what we were doing. So we will be switching to CM. Thanks for the book recommendations, I can't wait to read all of them!

Thank you for you comment. It really resonated with me! I have recently done the same thing in our home. I was ready to send my girls to school. I was trying to do school at home as well and we were all miserable. We are beginning to implement Charlotte Mason principles now and already seeing the good fruit. God is good!

Thank you! Just starting out CM with my 6yr old this year. This will be helpful. So far I have the original volumes and am almost through reading Volume 1. I need to read more on narration. My daughter really struggles with this, and doesn’t want to do it.

Hi Rachel, if you search our site we have many articles and podcasts about narration as well as some very practical tips and helpful resources so you can have more confidence in this area of narration and doing it well. Here is one you may want to look at first: simplycharlottemason.com/timesavers/narration/ and since your daughter is only 6, give both yourself and her lots of grace as you build this skill of narration and over time you will see it pay off!

Loved the insight into your journey Sonya, so interesting, I too have loved every one of these books in similar order. Karen's work is amazing. Ive started a book club to help others locally and these are all on my list as well as Charlotte Mason made easy by Stephanie Walmsley.
