I am an Indian watching this, not only because it addresses Islamic extremism in Pakistan, but also because it can help us understand and prevent religious extremism in our own country.
Indian issues are significantly different. Shehzad's views are worth every second watching it but situations in both the countries are not identical nor are the remedies. In India the trouble is that Indian Muslims always voted to keep the BJP out of power. This has also made more Hindu's move towards the BJP and since Hindu votes are more BJP managed to deny participation of muslims in governance.
His views are universal and highlight the challenge of applying logic to religion. In countries like India, Pakistan, and other South Asian nations, it’s easy for people to be swayed by religious sentiments, which often allows leaders to push their agendas. When leaders are elected based on religious preaching or faith, it perpetuates the cycle of these countries remaining in the Third World. It’s disheartening to see our people so easily manipulated by religious sentiments.

From purely a religious lens, Saahil's position was utterly vacuous, and clearly it was a failed attempt at evading the point in question. Let's dig deeper into 'Taaghoot'. Every kid growing up in Pakistan at some level knows what Taaghoot is, and that worshipping it is prohibited without knowing the actual word. The implied meaning of Taaghoot is any object of worship other than God. Saahil was posing to be very statistically oriented. If we do a survey among 15-year old boys and girls in Pakistan, do we really think that they haven't ever heard that "Worshipping anyone other than God is haraam". What's special in the Arabic word, Taaghoot, when a kid has read and knows that Idol worship is prohibited. So, purely from a religious perspective, the point Saahil was trying to pivot on was absolutely empty in addition to being a failed act of evasion. Hats off to the questioner for maintaining her composure. Khalil and Sahil felt intellectually vulnerable in her presence.

Taghoot doesn’t mean shirk. Taghoot means ‘Transgress’. Because shirk is a major sin. And Allah describes sin as a person transgressing against himself. Hence Taghoot can also include shirk.

Shehzad, you bring up an extremely useful topic that our country desperately needs. I studied logical fallacies back in 2006 in a critical thinking course and found it incredibly useful. Since then, I have evaluated every statement at this level and have freed myself from manipulation. I always try my best to provide training on fallacies to juniors at every job, but I often face significant restrictions from management, as manipulators will always oppose it. I appreciate your hard work in igniting critical thinking in the nation, and I fully support you in this effort.
Our youth is currently manipulated in the name of religion...and they just follow each and every person blindly..they can't even tolerate any positive,constructive criticism.... I have to be very honest here. I came across Sahil Adeem’s videos early last year and even I thought that he is some sort of a Pakistani scholar who is trying to connect the dots between Psychology and Islamic philosophy/way of life. This is precisely why clergy and priests and even official 'scholars' are discouraged and disallowed in the Islamic tradition. I feel most people that reach a certain level start exhibiting their narcissistic traits . The easiest was to spot a narcissist is to see if they have the capacity to pause , reflect , take ownership and apologies. Sahil wasn’t able to do that and this is very alarming . What's special in the Arabic word, Taaghoot, when a kid has read and knows that Idol worship is prohibited. So, purely from a religious perspective, the point Saahil was trying to pivot on was absolutely empty in addition to being a failed act of evasion. Hats off to the questioner for maintaining her composure. Khalil and Sahil felt intellectually vulnerable in her presence.

Jahil is someone who has all the knowledge in front of him or her but he or she didn’t want to attain that knowledge and intentionally starts to deny it…..but the same person would start to use the injunction of this knowledge for her or his personal gain….la ilm is some one who doesn’t have the knowledge to start with coz he or she never had any exposure to that knowledge…sahil was very right that Pakistani women are “ jahil” coz being Muslim by birth and living throughout in an Islamic country, they don’t have complete knowledge of Islam, they use Islam for their own personal gain like Islam doesn’t like joint family system so all the females of Pakistan band together for the imposition of this injunction coz they don’t want to live with the parents of her husband but in the same way Islam also gives right to men to have four wives simultaneously and here pakistani women start to sway away from it….basically Pakistani women use Islam for their own cherry picking…this certainly make them jahil and kudos to sahil for pointing that out

I have to be very honest here. I came across Sahil Adeem’s videos early last year and even I thought that he is some sort of a Pakistani scholar who is trying to connect the dots between Psychology and Islamic philosophy/way of life. I was intrigued and I watched a bunch of his videos before realising that most of his talks are gibberish. Never went back.
