    A huge project really well executed, congratulations on completing it! You could possibly use a 24V PWM controller to regulate the speed of the radiator fans, even modulating their speed with temperature automatically wouldn't be difficult. The Davies Craig EWPs have a similar controller for their water pumps.

      Thank you very much !! Good one, a speed controller would probably make the system a whole lot better functioning and reduce the noise and power consumption a fair bit. I'll go and take a look at this

    Fantastic video Rick, thanks for posting it. Lots of good pointers before my tdi swap, and nice to see how your air suspension is mounted too

      Thanks Stephen! Good to hear it was helpful. I'm looking very much forward to see how your 1.9Tdi swap will go. Helge (@Helgethecampervanman) just completed his 1.9 swap and it looks like a perfect fit.

    Hello,
    Great project, and very well done. I am a hunter and i will get myself a feltvogn for our muddy forests here in southern germany.
    This little truck is as short as a 90 defender but with the interior size of at least a 110. And i like the forward control concept, helps a lot in tight corners, you can actually see where you are going and what is in front of the vehicle. In my defender i always had to memorize where all the big stumps are before they disappeared in the dead angle of the engine hood.
    I got some questions regarding your truck:
    - What tire size and rims are you using? Offset?
    - you got lockers front and rear? I read the axles are Salisbury h4, so i guess Dana 44 stuff fits / can be made to fit?
    - The fender flares are from a defender?
    I contemplate installing a VW 1.9 TDI with a mechanical pump and no intercooler. (SMT adapter). I ran one on a T3 syncro and it did fine with like 80 - 90 hp.
    Regards and keep the videos coming..
    Holger
    PS Do you have a link to @Helgethecampervanman ? I cant find his conversion on the web.

      Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, seeing them from the outside you wouldn't expect so much interior space. I've had multiple Defender 90's and 110's but the interior space in the Valp is more practical for sleeping and living in it. There is quite a few Volvo Valp enthousiasts in Germany and Austria if you need any assistance. Good luck with your project :-)

    You mentioned needing approval for putting on disc brakes. But what about approval for more HP?
    You really are doing some neat stuff with the valp :-) Impressive stuff.

      Hi Rolf, I have applied at Vegvesen for the engine swap and they have approved this. They have issued papers that the engine swap is allowed, the car just needs to be shown for final inspection. This I haven't done yet as the car has been abroad for the past year but I'll do it when it's back.

    Best Laplander on utube especially with the diesel upgrade! May I ask how much you have put into this vehicle so far?

    Excellent walkthrough!
    What kind of brake booster is that? How did you make it work? Would really like to improve my original brakes.
    Where did you buy that handbrake cable and what did you have to do to fit it with the handbrake leveler?

    Great work! I have experience with these axles and lockers. After the axlelocker was added I started braking halfshafts. I then swapped the original axles for Mercedes G class axles. These axles have the correct gearing, lockers and disc brakes. They hold up really well! What upgrades did you do to your axles? Greetings from The Netherlands.

    Look like it took some time and money to do the swap, but nice when it work out, good work . Think it's time I also do a guide but need to find someone that can explain things in english .

      Thank you Eile! I think there are many people interested if you make a video about your swap. The Indenor engine fits very nice in the Valp and it's also very good and simple engines. It's fine if you do it in Swedish, I'll understand most of it hehe :-)

      @VolvoLaplanderCamper 2 года назад

      @@Ricklandrover But youtubers don't understand swedish :-) It's impressive you could put so many things in that car. Thing that difference in my build to many other is that is builded in a complete car not on a stand alone chassi, so all repair can be done on road with heavy engine block in place and body on the car. During this 22 years gone since first engine swap many things have been overhauled or rebuild with engine still in the car : rings, bearing , head, camshaft, clutch, gear, and so on.

    Highteck valp det der. Hva var km på den gamle motoren?

    • @Ricklandrover
      @Ricklandrover  2 года назад +1

      Den forrige motoren brukte jeg i rundt 15.000 km, men det var ikke den originale motoren som kom i bilen
