i know this will get lost in the comments but have a nice day random person reading this :)
Thank you. You have a nice day as well!
-CK
charles cahill you too and to all the random people reading my comment have a nice day or night.
charles cahill have a happy day!
charles cahill you to buddy
And you dude.
I learned something today. Thanks for the history of receivers and where we are today and what may be good for what kind of flying we do.
It's important to see how each module handles diversity, like how effectively they switch between antennas? Will you guys do another test?
Cool video. I would like to see a side by side of a single antenna receiver vs a diversity setup. Just to see how much you benefit from the diversity.
Chad is missing... where are you Australian guy!!
would be interesting to see how the Skyzone's stand up. I have those and would say my signal is at least as good as these but a side by side would be neat.
did you time these videos up exactly because at 5 37 seconds and 5 40 seconds you can obviously see the laforge V2 behind almost a full second
I really wish you guys had done a "control" screen with the basic FatShark RX module. It's great that you guys tested with 1 antenna on each diversity module but it would have been cool to see how this stacks up against the standard receiver.
I am with Mr Steele one doing the extra work to get the wires inside. I think its well worth doing but only if you are confident in doing so. Also dont forget to block out the Light using electrical tape, I find the left side seams more effected by this than the right.
I use the V2 set up and find they are everything I need in one nice package.
Great review ! Im going straight to the v2 ! Want to know when you come to AZ would love to learn from the best.
The Furious D works great for me with VAS MadMushroom and Emmersion patch. Coupled with a quad running a TBS Unify Pro at 800mw with a TBS Triumph antenna. I can't complain one bit. Great setup.
Perfect timing for this video.
I'm buying my first set of goggles and I was debating on what modules to purchase. Thanks
I would love to hear your take on why you prefer "goggles" over a full panel type headset. Also, interested in 3d stereoscopic camera & goggle set ups... Love the content, thanks!
Thanks for doing the research for us - not everyone has access to all that gear and the time to do the side-by-side comparisons. This is so useful! Glad I have the V2 =)
Nice job reviewing the different modules. Watching this, and other pilots around, I realize that with the LaForge V2, I see some people run the Panel on the Diversity Module and some on the main module. I also see those same people sometimes switch where the panel is? What would dictate to a pilot the best place to run the panel.
Example, I have the LaForge V2 and usually run the panel on the main module and the cloverleaf Blue Beam on the Diversity module. I am usually flying in front of me, more than behind so my reasoning is, more penetrating power and less likely to be blocked by a tree, but on the occasion I do go behind or above me, the Blue Beam will take over.
Dang no test of the 2Pineapples Module. It's a fantastic module. See Josh Bardwell testing. :D.
Great seeing Skitzo on RR!
I would have sent you mine for testing. 😍
great video guys comparing the different video modules... perhaps future video could be about how best mount your antennas on the quad... I have personally being playing with different settings primarily to avoid breaking the antenna upon a crash, but have accidentally noticed changes in the performance of the video streaming from the same antenna...
you guys absolutely need to get Alex on the show for an antenna episode. so dope
Synchronized fpv, that is what you guys need to try. like the Blue Angels. Flying together in formations. I have never seen anyone do it.
How about an ImpulseRC Helix build/review
i was surprised when i noticed RotorRiot channel only has 70k subs
Hey guys...no one seems to have tested TBS's Unify Pro VTX.
Does 800 me make a massive difference compared to 400 around tree etc. or does a different antenna make a bigger difference.
Also... As its common to see a patch and a circular on giggles nowadays. Even with quad flyers. How about a test of patch vs heliptical. Why? Regardless of the short flying time everyone WANTS THE POWERFUL ONE!!!
Great test guys.
Bardwell already went way deep into this. Why haven't we heard anything out of Nowack lately?
think he's out of this team by the sounds of his FB posts...
DrFuNK Nowaks sorta having a bit of a break. Go watch his interview with Brighton til I fly, Droning Out,
please review in detail the Taranis Q X7. Pros, cons, and if in the long run would one ultimately still need the X9D plus. Thanks!
Please do this same test with diversity working! That's even more important. Also what's the power consumption of the V2 vs the Furious FPV? Thanks!
Is there a 2nd video on how well the diversity functions? TBH that was what I was really interested, I have a IRC Duo and am curious how it stacks up.
I've just upgraded from a stock FS module to a LaForgeV2 without diversity. The LaForge is far more sensitive, the features are great and the battery life is similar to the FS module. I just wish it came with a cover, but I printed one that does the job.
Injection molded doors are coming very soon. Details are in the LaForge FPV FB group.
Ah right I'll keep an eye out, cheers buddy ;)
Great episode guys I always been curious about these!
you guys should test the Clearview receiver
Steele I was looking into doing a Butter Qwad Build and was interested in using a PNP50... Is there any possibility on you doing a video on how you set it up and what you change on it? Either on here or your channel?
Awesome edit! How about a video discussing the RF situation in general? Like, when I go to any given spot, what are the obvious RF hazards to always look for? Oh, there is a big radio dish over there...will that cause my quad to failsafe? etc
How did you guys get the black box around your flight info on the screen from the TBS pnp50 so dark?? I've tried to adjust contrast and brightness and can never get the box dark enough to see the numbers without having to fly towards the ground to get something dark behind my info so I can actually see my voltage and mAh. Please help, great video.
How did you guys get the black box around your flight info on the screen from the tbs pnp50 so dark?? If testing sensitivity, you should also use dummy loads on the second antenna, and test at 25mw rather than 800mw.
Plz review the Eachine Wizard X220!
I have mine on the way first drone hd2 goggles I fly radio and ready to see how things go
CatzJDM would love that
Yeah guys, definitely get Alex in there for an antenna shootout/review. That would be cool. I'd be interested to see what he thinks are ok, good, and great antennas. Not that you guys don't do a bang up job of reviewing products, but Alex knows his antennas. ;)
Enjoyed this episode. I would like to see the episode about antennas.
Hey! How about audio quality on these modules? And what channel you are getting audio on - left? right? or both?
Thanks for the video!
You guys should do an FPV 101 video. You could show all the parts needed and explain good setups, what you use, and the best budget setup.
Good vid! My V2 has been pretty good most places. Reception on alien has been much better upright rather than out back. An Alex episode would be nice!
so do you guys think you will test with a patch and the circular polarized antenna sometime or something to test out the actual diversity portion or have we determined that you can already fly to far with just the main module that there isn't much point in testing with two Antennas? Steele I thought I was the only one that would walk up to a keyboard and play White Stripes...
Love Rotor Riot video... Thanks guys.
Great review. I got the la forge v2, makes sense.
the laForge V2 looks delayed relative to the others (around 3:25), noticeable on the flips.
on my fpv setup which uses a unify HV, hs1177 and a tbs triumph I have a issue when the image gets huge black lines. any ideas anyone?
Awesome, thanks for testing them.
Could you guys please do an episode on ESC settings please. I am so lost on D shot, multi shot, this shot, that shot, ball shot, crotch shot, half shot, single shot, gun shot, crap shot, F shot, 3 point shot, long shot, triple shot, please help. When and how do we know what do? Does it matter? Who does it matter for?
You guys need to do a test of control range between spectrum and taranis.Great video guys! Both stock.
The 45 min antenna mind explosion would be interresting to watch! :P
Hey rotor riot!!! Keep up the great videos!!
Daniel harman 👍👍👍👍
you guys make perfect reviews🔥so what bout the Vortex 150?
Thank you for this video, I recently (Today) bought a Dominator V3 headset equipped with a dual forge module. I was wondering what the best antenna's would be for the copter and the headset. (I plan on doing an external antenna mod on my Bebop2). What would be a good combo for both. Thanks in advance guys and awesome video btw!
so are you guys going to test performance in diversity mode in another video?
also did you / can you disable diversity mode on these rx modules? If these modules were all operating in diversity mode with only one antenna attached, imo this could have biased the outcome because one rx module may be optimized to have both antennas attached and get confused by the noise of the no-antenna input while another may not care as much.
Yeah would really like to see the diversity test aswell. (y)
Sup fellas! Hey was the True-D running the newer V2 firmware or the older V1 firmware?
rtf wizard x220 review I would love to see what you guys think about that quad
do the antenna video please! I've heard that with the right antenna you can get up to 1 km with (only legal Power out here) 25mW.
hello how do you calibrate the RSSI on realacc 5058 how many MWhow many feet away from craft antennas on or off ?thank you
- 9:30 | Steele : shut up Skitzo
- 9:32 | Skitzo : confused AF, looking for some help
great VID guys!!! can u do a LaForge Pro install vid? that would help tons.. Thank u
How did you guys get the black box around your flight info on the screen from the TBS pnp50 so dark?? I've tried to adjust contrast and brightness and can never get the box dark enough to see the numbers without having to fly towards the ground to get something dark behind my info so I can actually see my voltage and mAh. Please help
Can you please restock the butter kwad or restock the black lipo pad and black pdb, I love that frame and I really don't want to have red parts on a butter kwad
Love the new intro guys :)
Arent they all RX5808 modules anyways? So the difference would be how clean the power supply is, and how the firmware does the diversity switching.
Anyone notice the crazy lag on the Furious compares to the other ones?
Wonder if that's a recording issue, or if it translates to actually using them.
Love the new intro !!
No one seems to have mentioned the increased latency on the V2. Its visible, which is crazy considering how small the numerical difference likely is.
Is skitzo joining rotor riot?
liking this new video style
Make a freestyle race course and have all you guys race with your favorite setups. So like , powerloop this, then go do a split s over that, then dive this, etc.
Laforge v2 all the way an end it on some piano skills from JEDI Steele ;) lol
are your swag stuff available in Europe yet? like the hats, shirts stickers.. ?
Hey I have a question about battery balancing on the quad. No one says anything about this issue mine ether drifts forward or backwards I can't find the happy medium and take off or hover
FuriousD with the new v2.0 firmware is the way to go.
I would love to see Alex on this channel, and I would gladly watch a 45 minute "mind explosion" featuring him.
what's your guys opinion on the new fatshark genesis with the built-in diversity receiver. it's seem like it has a lot of goodies for only $200
Furious True-D V3 is out now!!
so wait, did they strap 4 transmitters to the quad to send four different feeds to the googles at the same time? because those runs are scarily similar.
My nexwave just destroyed its self, so I'll be getting a la forge v2 soon!
Great video. But why don't you go back to Wichita. Keep it up. Give us more content like this.
what patch antenna do you guys like best?
so yes, get Alex on and have him do his thing on the antennas and get him to figure out which one is best, and to then combine them on the diversity modules for the best combination to really figure out which diversity module is best
If you were going to just test the single-antenna modes on the diversity receivers, why didn't you include some of the better single-antenna receivers like the nexwave?
Thanks for the information!
skitzo in the house , you are an inspiration sir.
Thanks buuuuuddy! >:)
Was that the Furious with firmware v2?
Hi guys, I was wondering wich fatshark is the most immersive. Thinking about switching to a fatshark from a quanum cyclops. Hope someone can help me out here...I'm lost.
Steele and Johnny should start a band.
am I seeing things or is there latency when he does Acro fast moves and only the laforge V2 model looks like it's a half a second behind in the video watch
Can you guys review the new taranis q x7 that would be awesome
How about a video on the latest hype train motor isolation:p
Would love to see you guys test out simulators like DRL!
It seems like there is a little bit of latency in the laforge v2. Is that just me, is my right eye slower than my left eye?
Theres a delay on the yaw spin on the v2 compare to the 3 other
How do you guys think that the NexWave RF Diversity receiver would stack up against these?
We wished we had one to test but it's hard to say. I'm sure it's great too :)
Heh so you guys was able to get most expensive rx on the market but was not able to test out some cheapest ones, thats funny :)
Y'all need to give Eachine a redemption round by testing out the Wizard.
Is this the True-D V3.0?
I am thinking that I will get a diatone crusader gt2 as my first race drone what do you think
Future Olympian can you build your own yet? if you don't know how to build I wouldn't suggest buying one already built you won't know how to fix it your first day when you crash it something already built is meant for people who already know how to build but do not have time as soon as you crash with a little bit of speed in your video signal goes out and goes black what are you going to do to fix it and buying a new drone once a week is not even practical
How much is a basic race quad? With the vr you know what I mean?
daniel PC/ Xbox To do things right about $1000 including goggles more or less.
Has anyone tried using an sma splitter for a patch and cloverleaf antenna? Some people say they work, some say they do but is very unclear, some say it makes the signal worse or just not work. Does anyone know of some video evidence of someone trying this?
if any links to help much appreciated thanks
