When he sees it’s his owner, he then IMMEDIATELY goes into a submission pose to let his owner know he wasn’t a threat to him. He was ONLY going to be a threat to anyone coming through that door to harm his babies. And as everyone else has commented, he never leaves their side. I had to put my good boy to sleep 8 days ago and I am wreck. He was our protector through and through. Truly the goodest boy who ever lived. Cherish your pets, for they love you unconditionally.
Dogs are just amazing. Even during the earthquake, she stayed with those babies, watched carefully as mom and dad retrieved the little ones. It wasn't until her human gave her a command or some type of acknowledgment that she felt okay to leave.
Dogs are amazing animals. So many ppl told me to "get rid" of my dogs b4 I had my baby. I refused. Instead I had a friend take a baby blanket from the hospital and give it to my dogs so they would know her scent I brought her home. From then on my dogs had a new best friend. They followed my daughter every where she went.

That dog had amazing instincts. He's very smart. He stayed put, and watched what the owners were doing, assessed the situation, saw that the babies were being taken, and finally looked at its owner for guidance on what to do next. U could see he was very alert & calm throughout the whole situation, when most dogs are NOT!

A dog cowering has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with being beaten. Australian shepherds are notoriously bad for this for some reason and of all the ones that we’ve owned we’ve never once raised out hand to them. Even if someone was the type to hit a dog this breed is so tame they don’t do any thing to warrant such an act from a person anyways.

I think the dog would be happy with just not being hit anymore. Or I’m sure as he calls it “corrected.” I’ve only been rehabilitating dogs my entire adult life. He came in quick and the dogs immediate reaction was to put his/her face down in fear. There was no fear before that. Doesn’t matter how quickly I entered a room, nor my husband. Never would any of the canines react like this unless they’ve been “corrected” during your lifetime by that individual. This is why when mom comes in immediately after he realizes it’s not gonna be punished for melts away.

I thought the parents were moving to slow. I understand they don't want to hurt them but in emergencies when lives could be in danger, you bet I'll be moving faster then they did. I’ve been in quite a few earthquakes as I live in California, I’m just glad I’ve never been in a tornado.
I think the dog would be happy with just not being hit anymore. Or I’m sure as he calls it “corrected.” I’ve only been rehabilitating dogs my entire adult life. He came in quick and the dogs immediate reaction was to put his/her face down in fear. There was no fear before that. Doesn’t matter how quickly I entered a room, nor my husband. Never would any of the canines react like this unless they’ve been “corrected” during your lifetime by that individual. This is why when mom comes in immediately after he realizes it’s not gonna be punished for melts away.

@@RobertLutece909 Where I live in PA earthquakes are super rare. I only felt one when I was like 14, it was supposedly a small one and I panicked and was so scared. If I felt so much as a shake right now, I would still freak out and probably cry lol
