  • Hi,
In this video is bad turbo which had oil leak, so big play in bearings and seals in bad condition.
I decided to go for turbocharger core replacement, CHRA comes balanced and with all new parts so it's good quality repair for low price.
This particular is turbo for 170HP Skoda Octavia, the same Turbo is found on any other Volkswagen, Seat and Audi 2.0 diesel engine.
Procedure for turbocharger core replacement is very similar to any other car brand
    Thanks for watching

Hello, this video saved me! Every other video is telling you to take all the exauhst off and turbo out, doing it without a lift is PITA. I wasn't able to reach the VNT arm nut, without taking off the leaking valve cover. But by doing that it gave me a lot of space to work and to brake the turbo in half while in the car. Overall I'm very setisfied with my ebay cartridge. Everything with gaskets and fluids and filters came up to $350 and took me 17hrs to do. Better then $3400 that dealer quoted me. Thank you very much sir!

Hi, if CHRA is good brand or even OE brand than you can expect it to last as original turbo.

It is the 'in - out' play of the turbo shaft that matters !
Side to side (unless seriously excessive) is a non issue as Oil pressure is needed to enable the correct clearances.
Why buy a Fresh CHRA when a $50 rebuild kit is the only difference between New and rebuilt??
Not much use in scribing the CHRA for Clocking purposes.... when it is going to be replaced ?

Doesnt show removing the 6mm bolts holding the aluminium housing on to the cast exhaust side does it. See them all except the one under the wastegate actuator.............

Hello mate is giving you any problem with balancing?

Cores come balanced, even cheap China ones, there is usually grinding or part drill holes on the inlet impeller. Trickiest part is making sure VNT actuator on the new core lines up with the VNT ring in the exhaust side.

Heat. Alloy and steel expand at different rates, get it up to a few hundred degrees and belt it.
