Interesting fact: bowling for soup didnt make this song. The orignal singer actually shows up in the official video, hes the guy who walks by and scoffs at the band. The band who made it is called SR-71 Edit: the title still isnt wrong though, since its the bfs version.
Thanks for that info. I love being taken to school on my ... music history. I just listened to SR-71's version, and rewatched the BFS video, and took particular note to when Mitch Allen walked by.
@@fumoffu_l the two bands are good friends, and often write for each other. It's not really credited to the wrong band, both released the single, bowling for Soup's had way more, and further airtime.
This is sort of a Back to the Future vibe; imagine you and the band performing this at the 1955 prom, singing about 1985. So cool. Love you! Love Georgia! Keep 'em coming!
I was a teen when this song came out. Now I'm almost thirty and good god damn does this hit differently. I thought it'd be cheesy but no, this is stunning. Well done Robyn and musicians!
Every cover you do is amazing... but this one was one of my favs! When this came out back in 2004-2005 I was a Junior/Senior in High School and this just hit me and my sister so hard and we'd tease our mom that they were singing about her and we were the "2 kids in high school who tell her that she's uncool!" Good memories.
I always love how they cover in 20's to 50's styles songs that speaks about modern stuff. That's one of my favorite songs, and despite the cover strips away all the rhythm, it gives back that melancholy vibe that's supposed to be there
Lyrics: Debbie just hit the wall She never had it all One Prozac a day Husbands a CPA Her dreams went out the door When she turned twenty four Only been with one man What happened to her plan? Okay, this was my jam in hugh school. Had a dance to it and everything. THIS cover though? like, its everything. Literally everything. My new pump-up song, everyday listen to song. Thank you so so much!! Just in love with this cover, its everything.
I love Robyn. Her voice has so much control. Her power is great. Y’all are gonna hate me for this. I m so sorry to say this. The adaptations since she left pmj are just a little off. I wish Covid was over. I wish she would consider playing live here in New Orleans. I think New Orleans would love these versions and would adopt Robyn as their queen. But sadly we are shut down. Our bands are having pure hell from being shut down. Many great musicians sitting idle. Porch concerts. Sad to see. When this town is up, food, wine and song rule these street. Oh yea bourbon too. Only place on earth where Steve Tyler can walk the quarter. Not be hassled. Hear a cover band playing walk this way. Walk into the club. Ask the band if he can sing with them. The entire club went insane. He sang and played what he wanted to. Drank. Had fun. Then left without being hassled. Our friend was singing for that cover band. It is amazing place for performers.
You noticed that too. Yeah, her performances are way down. I just wonder if she left or was asked. One thing I'll say for Scot Bradley, he always has his piano in tune, maybe not as much with the lockdown, and on tune is where the money's at.
I’m a big fan of Bowling For Soup. You’d did great with this song. My favorite is still the theme to Phineas and Ferb. If ever possible, it would be interesting to hear BFS in a 50’s high tempo.
So well done! As an old guy who grew up on late 60s and 70s rock, when music wasn't dependent on auto-tunes, I'm amazed that 90s music is now considered oldies.
As lovely as your comment is, there are people going "I grew up on 40s and 50s music, before music depended on guitar amplifiers" Being bitter about technological advance because of your misconceptions about it aint cute xoxo Though I totally, totally agree autotune is very often misused (especially in the 00s lol)
You know, these songs from the alternate reality where WW2 never happened and the social revolution happened in the 50s are awesome. I wish we all lived there.
Iove it. 🖤🖤🖤. Your voice. 🤪🎶🎵🎤.. so great... Keep up the hard work . We appreciate it...well I know for damn sure I do.. 🖤🖤🖤 oh and you look amazing too. 👍.. big tip my hat to your musicians too. 👌. Stay safe and healthy. 🖤💟💖
I really like your take on a lot of work. You have a particular creativity that makes every work your own. I can't do that in every case. I wish I could. Sometimes. I just can't pull the essence into the idea. Short story, You have a unique talent. I wasn't a real Fan, Now I Am.
It's a great cover of the song, though the fact that it's a 1950s version greatly amuses me given the lyrics of the song.
Hahaha!! Yeah, a little bit.
That’s the best part

THANK YOU. I'm actually annoyed that this title is crediting the wrong band...

I love sr-71 their song Right now is one of my favorite songs of all time
This is sort of a Back to the Future vibe; imagine you and the band performing this at the 1955 prom, singing about 1985. So cool. Love you! Love Georgia! Keep 'em coming!
That’s how my mind was working … 50’s and 1985? Could only be BTTF. Now, what would it have sounded like as a 50’s song covered by… McFly?
more like dragged out of the river vibe, you mean.
"Jaret! Jaret! It's Marvin! Your cousin, Marvin Reddick? You know that new sound you're looking for? Well listen to THIS!"
You sing like an angel and you literally look like a beautiful princess or something.
You're right. she does look like some thing.
I was a teen when this song came out. Now I'm almost thirty and good god damn does this hit differently.
I thought it'd be cheesy but no, this is stunning. Well done Robyn and musicians!
Love this. I like the fact that it's a 1950s style of 1985 which was released in 2004. lol

I'll be honest, I thought this wasn't going to land at all because the song kinda hinges on being a product of its time...but wow this is excellent!
If they make a new song to fit with modern times, they'll have to put in a line about when Cartoon Network put out cartoons.
As a life-long BFS fan, I was so wowed by this. I absolutely loved every second of it!!
robyn makes me feel like i am in america in 1951. driving my old ford. having a beautiful girl by my side carefree and happy.
thank you for that
Just be sure to watch out for those colored neighborhoods.
Yeah, I can see her as a 51 'slightly rusty Ford. So, you have a '51rusty Ford. all you need is a pretty girl.
Your eyes make hundreds of expressions during a song.. it's so mesmerizing ! ❤️❤️❤️
chock it up to a poorly grounded mic.
I enjoy the original version of this, but I think I enjoy this one even more. Great rendition, thank you for sharing with us.
I always love how they cover in 20's to 50's styles songs that speaks about modern stuff.

Amazing.... as always 😎 Keep singing such classics and stay safe 🙃
Thank you, stay safe as well!
Robyn Anderson and the PMJ & all the musicians! You guys are the Best Ever!!
Another astounding performance! Such emotion in your voice and eyes!
Great job!! Robyn never fails to impress . She is the greatest entertainer of our generation!
I don't know the original, but I can't imagine it can be any better than yours! Wonderful!

I only just realised that because of this format, the drummer isn't hidden behind anything

This is literally all I wanted since I started watching the channel. Love to see it
I LOVE THIS SONG!
The bass-work is exquisite here!
Tolle Stimme, tolle Bewegung zur Musik, tolle Band und einfach gut. Danke für die schönen Lieder!
Beautifully done by such a beautiful and an amazing woman. Thank you Robyn. I always enjoy you even back with Postmodern Jukebox.
I’m a big fan of Bowling For Soup. You’d did great with this song. My favorite is still the theme to Phineas and Ferb. If ever possible, it would be interesting to hear BFS in a 50’s high tempo.
Good tune. I'm a throwbck from growing up in the 70's. Enjoying y'all's talent.
Magnifique! Robyn and band so, so talented. Love you guys😘

Why do they not have a record deal yet
guess record labels pitch is to be on it and not flat off it as exampled here.
Awesome !!! ... such an amazing talent !!!
Robyn's presentation is my first version of this song -- and now I won't need another. Why seek further after one has found the best?
Didn't know this song.. Love it now ❤️ you are such a talented person ❤️ stay healthy
Thank you!
The original is awesome too! I recommend it! This version is great, it’s such a unique twist to the original! I love it!
BFS must be proud of this cover, good job!
I LOVE THIS GUYS, BUT I LOVE SO MUCH THIS WOMAN
Anyone else want to drown in Robyn's eyes while she's singing?

Absolutely amazing!!
WOW. I love this song and you just revolutionized it! Your voice is beautiful!
This is awesome!! One of my fav BFS songs!
This was one of my favorite HS songs and I'm so impressed. The vocals and music are perfect. This seems like a difficult song to adapt.
Yes, very difficult to adapt. On tune is where the money's at. Poor Robyn.
Обожаю ваше творчество. Вы дарите слушателям вдохновение и радость.

God I LOVE this song.
Absolutely beautiful
The word is magic, is the only I can say with this version
Your cover is better than the original! I loved it! "And music was still on MTV" is my favorite line yet! Hope you're staying safe out there Robyn!
Oh my gosh!! You are Amazing!! Such a powerful and beautiful voice!! Can we say "Bombshell"?!!
Glorious! 👏👏👏👍
Amazing
This is good I approve. like the lyrics to this tune. laid back vibe.
Love this version. I can relate in some ways with the lyrics. You are sounding great and so is the band.
You know, these songs from the alternate reality where WW2 never happened and the social revolution happened in the 50s are awesome. I wish we all lived there.
Wonderful!
Wonderful
One of my favorites, and you did quite a nice version of it.
This was quite honestly just amazing thanks for being awesome 👍🏻

Particularly enjoy the part where there is an utter word cramming moment and Spruce Springstein became his name :')
Love it😁
I really enjoyed this cover of bowling for soups cover of 1985 by SR71.
Your beauty is back 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖😘👍

🚂 Hi from Michigan • Like • Very cool time 😎
ステキです💖
Your music is wonderful
I think I have a new favorite
Oh god it's so beautiful i love it ❤️✨
Bella la Adele
Very Nice! I remember 1985....sort of......a blur.......
💜
I'm always amazed and a bit envious on how people can make their voices do that vibrato thing. HOW do you do that !?
When you have control and power with your vocal chords, basically muscles you control and you get it from extensive training in vibrato.
Maravillosa interpretación, felicitaciones.
Wow, that was tremendous! And thanks x 2. ‘;o)
You are great.
1955*
If I ever made a song and it got covered by Robyn, that would be like, the highest honour.
Honestly I think I like this more than the original
👏
