I will certainly be ordering one of these "non-Google, spyless" handsets, given all the "pestering" problems I've been having with the "Google Assistant" program on my present (Google) Android phone over the last 12 months or so. This handset looks nice & is very nicely presented in an elegant looking black box, & comes with a leather-look case & screen protector, & is handily dual SIM - & for many years now, I have always used dual SIM phones only. One of the differences between my present dual SIM handset & the Brax2 dual SIM handset, is that my present handset has both dual SIM AND the micro SD card slot (not the 2nd SIM slot being either a 2nd SIM slot or a micro SD card slot). I would be interested to know if both of the SIM slots are 4G, as in my country, many of the dual SIM phones sold are advertised as having the main SIM slot being 4G & the second SIM slot as 3G (or previously, a 3G/2G combination). It wasn't a problem before smart phones, as 2G/GSM phones would have both SIM slots being the same - 2G). Fortunately, when purchasing my latest dual SIM handset, I was very particular, & made sure I purchased a handset with both SIM slots being 4G - though there were not too many models available where both slots were 4G. The problem with having 2 different "G" SIM slots, is that when one of the "G"'s becomes redundant (as has 2G in my country - & 2G handsets will no longer work with the mobile phone system), then one of the SIM slots on the phone will cease to work & the phone will then effectively become a single SIM phone. This Brax2 handset is probably a bit bigger than the phones I have been used to - as I generally prefer a slightly smaller handset - but I'm sure I can get used to the slightly larger size, for the sake of privacy. Given the 2 options (the US & Europe) shown on the international plug in the above video, the plug does not look like it will be suitable for use in my own country - but that is not a problem for me, as I have a couple of spare full international plugs/adaptors at home. The thing I believe I may miss on the phone is the earphone/headphone jack - but I understand there is a work-around with the USB-C connection & also using a adaptor with the USB-C connection. I generally don't like using wire-less earphones, because they just create one more thing that needs to be battery-charged. Also, although the Brax2 is a 4G phone handset, it will be compatible with 5G. As 5G is quite new, it is likely to be a very long time before the 4G network is made totally redundant & 4G handsets will no longer work within the mobile phone system. It's only quite recently that 2G handsets no longer work in some countries - though I believe that in the USA, 2G handsets will still work with some phone carriers. Handsets that are 3G will still work with mobile phone systems. I think Rob may have cornered the market with these brand new custom-made non-Google, spyless Android mobile phones. To the best of my knowledge, there is nothing quite like it on the market that comes out of the box fully functional for the average mobile phone user. The PinePhone & Librem5 either are not fully functional straight from the box, &/or may not be suitable for the average user. It's also great to hear that has been a very good demand for this privacy phone - much more than Rob was expecting, apparently.
I'm not a regular buyer of mobile phone/data plans. BUT... when I am I use Mint Mobile 4G for $15 Per Month with 4GB date at HOME... or $20 per Month with 10 GB per Month when traveling the USA! Yes $15 per month with 4GB Data. FREE CALLING TO MEX & CAN Not $25, . . . NOR $30 Nor $35 Nor $40 etc for same of LESS Data per Month with . . . TM or Atnt... I would NOT use Tmobile unless you paid me to do so, NOR Atnt as they CON-troll most of the un-needed 5G phone providers, and are WAY over priced for the same, or a whole lot less.... calling, texting per month! But thanks for your phone and YOUR VPN . . . and all your videos!
Thanks Rob. Good instruction. Btw, all the Mot G7 line is on AT&T's published compatibility list, and I have a G6 that works that's not on the list. I tried to post a link to the list but YT removed it.
@@robbraxmantech It's Zucking stupid and infuriating! The link to the list with the G7 Lineup was sent to me by By AT&T support, and I was told was the most recient. That list is on the At&t website is a PDF titled 'Devices-Working-on-ATT-Network' d0t P-d-f. And how about this?: When I went into the local AT&T corp. store with a mask on ( one day after the Mask mandate was lifted) The Store manager demanded I remove the mask because it interfered with their security cameras. Then they went on to tell me they could not port phone numbers from an AT&T MVNO to AT&T because people who use MVNOs are cheating AT&T. And that by the store manager.
That is so zucked up Jack. They chose to allow MVNO's. And the employees complain? They should blame their boss. In any case it just goes to show that the right hand does not know what the left is doing
@@robbraxmantech I wonder if the stock rom Moto g7's are having any trouble. Have two Moto G5s+ phones, one running Resurrection Android 10 and it no GSF. And another G5s+ Stock Android 9 Pie Rom and usng the same AT&T based sim works. Something an At&T support rep said Android 12, was required on some devices and the MOTO G5s+ might work with android 12. I did notice however that after swapping the sim from the moto G5s+ to a Moto G6 that works, and then putting the sim back in to the G5s+ VOLTE callig worked for about 30mns. But after a couple of swaps its like they blocked calls. Setting the preferred network to 'Global' or 'GSM/CDMA' works for 4g calling and data. Might be worth a try on the G7 if you can do that
@Rob Braxman Tech May I please ask if setting up one of your De-googled Pixels (from your store) is the exact same set up as in this video for your braX2 phone ???
Good video. So far the phone is pretty nice. But...why do you use f-droid instead of aurora droid? Aurora droid is a bit better isn't it? And also why is duck duck go uninstallable? It has been compromised (according to the internet). I want to use something else. And what are the steps to get microg working properly. When I do the self check most of the boxes are unchecked.
To run Aurora apps, does phone need a continuous connection to Aurora? Let's say we're running an app, but we drive out of cell coverage? Does the app stop working? Or is it a one-time download through Aurora and the app runs forever (like F-droid)?
That’s still a very compelling package. Would the email app be fairly recognisable to a tech ignoramus? I use outlook currently for commonality across my devices as a work tool.
I would suggest a web service that isn’t free!… if it’s free, they are making their money somehow (usually by selling your data). The paid services are more secure and usually more private. Rob has an email service he launched not long ago. You should give it a try!
Hey Rob I am Commenting on your old video. Can you make a new Video for setting up cellular service for degoogeled phones. Thanks. Also I always like your videos.
Do you have a problem with F-Droid? I have had some odd issues with some of the apps and just off loaded them. All in all, I think the community of app creators seem decent. Your take would be appreciated.
Maybe this is a dumb question but I don't know the answer so I'm gonna ask anyway. Is there a way to increase the volume? I'm using my brax2 phone to play podcasts in my car. Using an auxiliary cable with usb-c adapter. The stereo and phone volume are both at max but I car barely hear it. Is there a way to fix this?
Rob, I have a question for you. I'm a tech guy, but you're into it more than I am. We are in the short term rental business. We rent a house. Recently, we pulled out the DirecTV dish and replaced it with FireTV sticks in 3 rooms. I'm trying to replicate mostly the DirecTV experience without the cost. I have my concerns about Alexa. I had heard a story about somebody whose neighbor was snooping on them using Alexa. I also have concerns about Amazon being to catch the voice snippets of Alexa users to splice them in ways for nefarious uses. We all know about Google and Facebook interfering in the 2020 elections. Are my concerns warranted or am I going too far? I'm not using Google Assistant for the same reason.
Fact remains that if there is a door with which someone may enter into a place you'd rather not have them present, they will likely attempt to do so, eventually. So despite your concerns over people snooping on you may appear at first to be a little paranoid (trust me it's healthy paranoia), they aren't without proper reasoning upon which to base an argument that digs down into the questions for why things are the way they are today. Really, if you want to get into the nitty gritty of what it means to be secure as a user, vs secure as a company (against the user), vs secure as a nation (against company and user), then you might just say that all of our technological problems come from a logical fallacy based off an assumption that ties in with fear....determined by a person who's power grows disproportionate to his level of responsibility in service of accomplishing a task. Their job is to seek out threats to the greater whole of society, to the extent that is maximally allowed by law. If they weren't there, then surely there'd be evildoers all over the interwebs with their webcam control shenanigans. Surely if we didn't have all these people protecting us we'd be overwhelmed with the amount of bad out here that it'd be completely different how we treat one another and the devices we use......right?. Protected by the very people who do the things to others that need to be protected against?......hmmmm me thinks dissa nossa gongon worksa outsa /endjarjarbinx Perhaps if we didn't go looking for problems that never existed except for within the minds of those who dream up the existence of an opposite side "out to get them and their precious bobbles and gems" then we'd never have created the problems we sought to prevent from happening by going out and looking for them in the first place. Even if you're not a threat, if someone thinks your a threat, treats you like a threat....it makes you a threat. If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear. (which is correct, but interestingly disingenuous in it's offering as a reason for this particular case) The road to hell is paved with good intentions and all that, eh? (Only it's not my or your road, and neither is it his, hers, mine, or they're hell.....it's our road, and it's our collective hell.....the culmination of each individual's impact in total to reflect Eternal Hell and Damnation....something I feel people aren't quite made aware of....those who are religious often to easily throwing it into the faces of those they argue religion to, and those without religion often to easily shrugging it off as "Just another religious claim". At the end of the day, it's only just a job though....right? and people must keep working to make the money, so they can buy the stuff with the money that either feeds them or keeps them somewhat happy and productive. /endsarcasm I hold nothing against, any, one, person, but we all bear the burden of responsibility, and carry the guilt proportional to what we choose to do, and what we choose not to do. Honestly, I feel a bit like the Monk merged with the Pirate what with all this apparent controversy over basic things such as skin colour....as if rampaging all over the lands about who's skin is equal to who's is somehow worthy of praise...... *Sigh* much to think about....

When you take photos or video does the phone encode any type of phone related ID information into the photo or video. Is this done on regular phones? I know location of phone information can be encoded into the photos. How about IMEI or software ID or chip IDs or any other hidden ID information? Say you take a photo and send it out. Can the photo be traced back to the phone that took the photo?
ROB BRAXMAN, I’ve been meaning to contact you but I’ve been so busy. I do want to buy a privacy phone, and I have a bunch of questions about ways to protect our home from wi-do surveillance, etc. I would pay you for your time to tutor me. I know nothing about tech so I need to start at the beginning. Please let me know how to contact you privately.
Have you ever learned a foreign language? You can hardly expect a teacher who usually teaches high-intermediate to advanced courses to take the time to do debutant teaching, especially individual. Those people are busy too. Isn't it rather presumptuous to think that you are a special case?
You might want to come to Brax.me (Rob's site) and ask some of the other people there your questions, (the people with badges that indicate: Trusted Advisors.) They have the time to start you out on the rudiments, Rob doesn't. You can also go through Rob's "privacy" collection on his channel. Basically, Rob has educated many of us, who started from nothing just like you, by his weekly videos. You can also randomly binge-watch on this channel.

Rob when you buy a new SIM card for your phone what is the purpose of the store hitting it with a barcode reader? is that to suck the information out of it so they can mirror your card? or is it just for sale purposes?
Lol when you buy a SIM card, or any other tech, they have the serial number and all associated data already…. Why would they go through extra effort to collect the data they already have?
Mirroring a phone? they make a copy of the SIM card right? I've seen them do it because they didn't realize I knew what they were doing. when you buy a SIM card it doesn't take two sim cards.two different cards barcoding both cards keeping the one from one stack and selling you the one from the other stack that they just bar-coded in your face made a copy.mirrored sim can be put into another phone and they can get right into your phone with it. if your phone rings their phone rings if you send a text message they see what the text message was sent and if you receive one they get it. but I don't think they can do all that with just one barcode readand one card. now do you understand the question if they bar-coded once and hand it to you it's not being mirrored if they barcode it and bring out another deck of cards and start barcoding that one and keying on the computer then they're making a copy.
Why don't we just all get together and do a class action lawsuit against all these cock suckers so they can't illegally f*** with us anymore because just complaining about it's not going to get anything done. trying to make phones to hide from these bastards isn't going to fix it. Someone that claims they have a phone that's more secure is just going to make money off people. This needs to stop we need to make all these phone companies and social media companies abide by the Constitution or go to jail we are supposed to be secure in our persons places and effects that means privacy when you making a phone call privacy when you using the internet privacy in every aspect of Our Lives the Constitution is being s*** on and no one's doing anything about it.
If what they scanned is a standard UPC (EAN should work the same as I understand it), you should see the code identical for all of the same model of card on the shelf. That is a non unique number that is the same for each of the same product. If you cannot read the barcode and don't trust the # below since the scanner is only looking at the bars, hold 2 cards up with codes lined up and you will see it is normally the same. Only question left is what they scanned.
Is it possible to get cell phones to use the cell modem that transfers data to cell towers to communicate with other cell phones directly. I assume the power is more and it would be able to be used over longer distances than the regular wifi. Would this be legal?
GOT ONE QUESTION. Sorry, it is not related to this video. Do you think it is possible for the 3 letter companies to embed a hidden system inside a processor that can preform its purpose without the knowledge of the OS, then embed its result as if it originated from the current os by encapsulating its response with in the current user Transport Layer data and extracting it at the backbone before it reaches the users destination?
I purchased my brax2 phone on March 4th. Today March 22 it has yet to arrive. I know some batches are sold out but if I purchased it on March 4th which batch am I and when should I expect the device? 🤔
This is NOT a mystery since it is a pre-order. Go to Brax.Me and talk to tech support if you want to find out your batch. But chances are your phone already shipped today based on that date
Unboxed. Went great. Intil the very important part 6:30 fdroid update gave me an error message that was at the bottom of screen and faded away in the time it takes a 16 y.o. to read it so all i saw was error .... So now F-Droid has "no apps installed" "no categories" "congratulations! your apps are up to date" Search for apps gives message "no matching applications available " Now what. Rob you did say at 6:30 "this is very important" so you know what happens if this doesn't happen. Could you possibly make a what if video so we can fix our BraX2
I like the idea for this but if you think about it, Google already has everyone's info by now if you've ever used their services. Seems a bit too late to make a change now as the damage is already done.

How would you set up the phone so that is would have its own private WiFi. Any other phone could see it as a Wifi source and log into it and store or retrieve files from it with out it being connected to the internet. Maybe a whole private mesh network could be created. Is there an app that would do this or maybe settings on the phone.
@@jasonsummers6705 I found an app called WiFi Pro FTP Server. So the Wifi Alliance has something they call Wifi Direct that allows devices to create their own Wi-Fi networks without an internet connection. Devices can communicate with each other using wifi and no internet is needed.

@@thirtythree160 'legally' decides if it should be allowed. OS decides if the action is permitted and by what software. App maker designs it based on what permissions they are given by the OS and user.
On my S20FE 5G I was able to use both 'call recorder' from fdroid (better features out of the box) and Cube ACR (many nice features paywalled) from aurora store but with lower quality audio due to needed workarounds+settings to get past "companies don't like users having this capability" which leaves the call somewhat noisy and caller harder to hear than myself; need to do further testing if I can get it any better. I'd imagine on a non google+samsung+verizon locked down OS you may have enough freedom for it to work properly and therefore better quality than I got.

The brax2 is 4g and 5G only because the US doesn’t support 3g anymore.. you could duel sim with any combination of 4/5 g
@@Mr3X7R3M3 Okay - thanks very much for that additional information.
I'm not a regular buyer of mobile phone/data plans. BUT... when I am I use Mint Mobile 4G for $15 Per Month with 4GB date at HOME... or $20 per Month with 10 GB per Month when traveling the USA! Yes $15 per month with 4GB Data.

Not $25, . .

Thanks Rob. Good instruction. Btw, all the Mot G7 line is on AT&T's published compatibility list, and I have a G6 that works that's not on the list. I tried to post a link to the list but YT removed it.
Talk to the many people who have been blocked by IMEI if they have any kind of Moto G7. Your list may not be recent
Might be worth a try on the G7 if you can do that
What’s your take on eSIM for new apple phones might be a cool video.
@Rob Braxman Tech
May I please ask if setting up one of your De-googled Pixels (from your store) is the exact same set up as in this video for your braX2 phone ???
If you can bring a model like this with smaller screen size ( iphone x) and kill switches like the pinephone pro, i will buy directly 10 pieces.
Thanks for sharing much appreciated 👍
No problem. For example if you removed Aurora after downloads, it would be fine. But you would need it to update the apps
That’s still a very compelling package. Would the email app be fairly recognisable to a tech ignoramus? I use outlook currently for commonality across my devices as a work tool.
Even though I don't use K9 Mail myself, it should be okay to use. It's open source and made by volunteers.
Can you make your next phone kill switch hardware not software? Physical Kill switch for Mic and Camera.

What is the Braxphone 2 model, as I need to replace my battery cover?
how you will suppose to update Android system webview? (not a part of big tech)
How do you trust those aurora apkpure whatever? they are a weak chain too
Do you have a problem with F-Droid? I have had some odd issues with some of the apps and just off loaded them. All in all, I think the community of app creators seem decent. Your take would be appreciated.
Then don't use it! Go stick with Graphene and FDroid. Each to his own
Just curious how do you think this would be for new phones like the new Samsung phones and Google's most recent phones
I don't have volume issues on my BraX2 so it may be your other device
Coming soon the Brax2eyePhone?
Your concerns are very warranted
Rob has multiple videos explaining the Amazon sidewalk program and all of the spying they do along with google and apple. Best of luck to you
Fact remains that if there is a door with which someone may enter into a place you'd rather not have them present, they will likely attempt to do so, eventually.
Protected by the very people who do the things to others that need to be protected against?......hmmmm me thinks dissa nossa gongon worksa outsa /endjarjarbinx
Perhaps if we didn't go looking for problems that never existed except for within the minds of those who dream up the existence of an opposite side "out to get them and their precious bobbles and gems" then we'd never have created the problems we sought to prevent from happening by going out and looking for them in the first place.
Even if you're not a threat, if someone thinks your a threat, treats you like a threat....it makes you a threat.
If you have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to fear. (which is correct, but interestingly disingenuous in it's offering as a reason for this particular case)
The road to hell is paved with good intentions and all that, eh?
/endsarcasm
I hold nothing against, any, one, person, but we all bear the burden of responsibility, and carry the guilt proportional to what we choose to do, and what we choose not to do.
Honestly, I feel a bit like the Monk merged with the Pirate what with all this apparent controversy over basic things such as skin colour....as if rampaging all over the lands about who's skin is equal to who's is somehow worthy of praise......
*Sigh* much to think about....
Hello Rob! a quick question, can I do all the settings first without the sim card or do I have to start with the sim card?. The thing is that I will get my new sim card tomorrow and I wanted to start download apps and getting my phone ready before. What do you recommend?

Hey Rob, I'm updating my brax2 phone what message will I get when it's done or what version should it say under the OS under settings?
When you take photos or video does the phone encode any type of phone related ID information into the photo or video. Is this done on regular phones? I know location of phone information can be encoded into the photos. How about IMEI or software ID or chip IDs or any other hidden ID information? Say you take a photo and send it out. Can the photo be traced back to the phone that took the photo?
Standard phones record EXIF data on photos. On Brax2, deny it Location permissions. Otherwise the phone has minimal identifiers.
Do you not use F-Droid Privileged Extension & Aurora Services?

Does the Brax2 phone have a replaceable battery?
this is great!
You're on the wrong video then. That was LAST WEEK'S VIDEO! Watch that. The answer is YES
