You take a chair? You must not be flying. 😂 You have some great tips! I especially like your tip to take some hand sewing along, not just for using if the machine isn’t functioning properly but also for any downtime. I like to take some flexible rubber shelf liner to put under my machine to keep it from sliding. It rolls up into a bag very well. Thanks for the tips, Michelle! 😘
I have a dish drying padded mat that stays in my sewing machine case. It does help with noise and vibration when sewing on fold out tables. I may fly someday to a big retreat. ... I guess I won't be able to take my chair. This is a small retreat that one of our local guilds puts on. I guess I like it because of the location and company. The venue is just in a place that makes me feel peaceful. Thanks for watching and sharing!
Pre wind my bobbins! Pre cut my pattern piece and put one block together. I usually take more than one project, one is always an easy project for relaxing.
Great tips, and a video that I’ll use as a resource before retreats! I also bring a small lint roller, just a nice thing to keep the space and clothes clean!:) Have a great time on your retreat!
I know you decided not to bring a little iron and mini board to your retreat, but I always have found this useful - especially when others take up the ironing boards with multiples that they are pressing. A roller can also be very helpful, especially for FPP. Making an extra copy of your pattern(s) is also a good idea - ask me how I know! Have fun, Michelle; my retreat is five weeks away!😊
The little irons are nice to take; however, I find myself need to get up and move more. Lots of quilters take those and they are wonderful!! I have a portable iron and ironing surface.
@@thesimplequilter7499 We make sure to take walks at least once a day. We are in a conference center near a lake , beach, and conservation land with trails. We're very lucky 😁
How fun, interesting, & so informative for “Retreaters.” I have never been to a retreat. I can only imagine the fun, camaraderie, learning - ALL the wonderful things shared. And “Quilting Cruises!” That’s mind blowing! I’ve been on many cruises - but never a “Quilting Cruise.” I think that would be awesome! ❤ THANK YOU ALWAYS MICHELE! A retreat (land &/or sea) might be on my menu.🫶
On my. I have never been to a retreat. I have to put this on my bucket list! Have you done a video of what it is like at a retreat? I have to go down this rabbit hole. Or should I say mini vacation.
Just went on my first quilt retreat. I had a great time. I agree with everything you said. Thank you for the information. Go to my next retreat in January. My iron and wool mat are a must. The irons there were always busy.
I always take UFOs along to work on as my main project(s) so that I get them done. However, I take a small new project along in case I run out of things to work on. In addition, I do take hand projects as well.
Great tips Michelle. I have only been to one sleep over retreat several years ago. My guild hosts a retreat day once a year. I went last year for the first time and the next one is coming up in a few weeks. I’m really looking forward to it. I will be making a list for sure. I once took a feather weight machine to a class and it didn’t work very well. I’m so glad I brought my regular machine as well.
I just saw an item on a facebook site. Lady found a magnet tray that she used for her pins. Very strong. She found it at Habour Freight. Don’t know if you have shown before in your
I bring a night light to put in the bathroom. If me or my roommate have to make a trip there during the night we can see without turning the light on and disturbing each other. Also bandaids, because I’m clumsy and never know when I might stick myself with a needle 😊
I ordered it from Amazon. Here is an affiliate link: amzn.to/3MZ6f4X Here is a link to my video showing this bag in more detail: ruclips.net/video/bbeEdbzCOGQ/видео.html
I had to share what happened to a retreat member. She has two machines of the same brand so feet were interchangeable. She brought the small piecing machine to retreat. She soon discovered that she had taken the foot off to use on the other machine. She had no other feet with her and none of us had an extra foot with us that would fit. Luckily she brought a hand project. Moral of the story, make sure you have "everything" for what ever it is you plan on working on. Di
Can’t stress enough about putting your name on everything. Even put your name on the instruction sheets or books. Those get passed around when others want to look at them. And the checklist is essential for packing before and when you leave. And if you drive there, you can pack things you MIGHT need but you can leave in the car.
I did pack some stuff I left in the car. These were for "just in case"! I have never marked my instruction sheets and patterns but great idea!!!! Thanks so much for sharing!!!

Our guild has one in early October, so this is timely! We're excited!

Thanks! I have seen those!
Great tips! I like to precut all my project pieces so all I have to do is sew. I also bring hand appliqué projects. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!! And taking the time to share!
Can't wait to go too! See you there!🌻🇺🇸🌻
Yes indeed!!!!
Awesome tips
Glad you like them!
Great video. I so wanted to come to this retreat. Hope you all have a great time!!
I wish you were coming!!! I really enjoy this one! I especially like that it is out and away from a town/city.

I like the tip of the night light!!! Thanks for sharing! I have bandaids in my sewing bag too!!

Great video! I always like to take a notepad and pen… So much good information from other quilters at quilt retreats.
What kind of sewing chair do you use?
I use an office chair I purchased at Sam's Club. It is an older chair but I love it!

Take your manual for your machine. You never know when you will need it.
Yes! Excellent!!!
Medication!
Yes, for those who need it!
