Great video Iain. The Lion Knights Castle is a great build and awesome set. I purchased the Jazz Club again after seeing the picture of it next to the new modular but got it at a discount or I wouldn't have bothered. I also like the Everyone is Awesome set and I think it was kept around as so many people were putting their space figures on it too. It's discounted here so I think it's going.
I think i wanna get The Lion Knights Castle, it looks really great and i love big castles! I see someone selling a brand new sealed one on my local marketplace for 350 Euros, the retail price is 400 Euros so its like a 12% discount. Do you think thats a good deal? Or should i wait until black friday and see if it gets a bigger discount?
Waiting till Black Friday could be risky. The one on Marketplace could be OK as long as it's legitimate, but maybe better to wait and buy from Lego with double insiders points and a good gwp.
@@iainsbricks Thanks for the answer! I just got back into lego very recently, so i have no idea how they do their sales nowdays. The set i see on the marketplace looks legit based on the pictures and i can go and pick it up in person, so i guess i will think about getting it! Another question, can you explain what double insider points and gwp means? Is that some promotion lego is doing from time to time?
@@gabor3432 GWP means Gift with purchase. That's a free set that you can get for spending over a certain amount at Lego stores or Lego.com. They run a number of theses promotions throughout the year. Great video Iain. Will go for the Vespa, especially if you buy the mini one also. £8.99 from Lego would pair nicely together. Do like the Boutique Hotel and Jazz club, but fear not enough discounts will be available on them. Cheers Iain.
I got the medieval town square from smythestoys last year for £160. the deal only lasted a week or so. Right now bricabrac is doing a small discount on both the winter sets you have covered. I'm currently halfway through dismantling the lions knight castle. I'm doing it in a way that means each process of the build will be in the correct numbered bag. Once it is done i will re-build the Boutique Hotel. My plan is to have the hotel, history musem and Tudor corner in a line on display. I will have the jazz club in a line of three with the diner and the corner garage. I also bought the vespa halfway through last year and was gutted when it got heavily discounted around the end of the year. I guess you just have to focus on the joy these sets give when you build them and see them on display.
Great ro hear you have most of the sets already - they all sound like, great builds. I've just actually watch a review of the Market Square set and I'm really tempted to get one to build.
@@neilrusling-je6zothe problem is this was the first sale they have done. They are so stingy with discounts. Probably have to wait until around next Black Friday. Would be surprised if it retires this year.
Re; Lion Knight's Castle, Iain, excellent analysis. I have one for future building as opposed to investment. It looks amazing, but price and outlet-wise, LEGO have played it smart with this one
Nice video Iain. Not many sets for me to invest in on this list. Personally i was very dissapointed by the Medieval market set, i bought this for myself but the build was not that great unfortunately. The Lion knights set is actually awesome but to expensive for me to invest in and never discounted
Hi Peter. That's a shame about the Market Square set as it looks really nice when built. Apparently the Lion castle is a great building experience, but it's also very expensive.
Next time they do those 2x points and that Lion Knight castle will be mine. I was no castle fan, trains and modulars are my bag baby, but then I built that bricklink Mountain Fortress...and that thing is just class, so now my castle needs a friend. John Lewis did both modulars for £150...so I grabbed an extra one in case I fancied supersizing. They had the Landrover for £160 and I made a huge error by not getting it, they did the Alpine lodge for £60 and I did not pass on that deal. I think you are right, I cannot see either Medieval Village or Santas post office retiring, it feels like they only came out last week.
I had a blow our year for Lego last year, and I bought the Lion Knights castle and medieval village, I adore them both. They were so much fun to build, but I am unlikely to sell so….
Only the Land Rover for me as an investment but it needs to come with a good discount. The previous version did very well and this version is certainly more of a "classic". The other Icons sets are either too expensive or a little niche. Also the modulars for me don't seem to increase that much in value for such as expensive large difficult to store/ship set. Maybe with a longer 5 year hold time but there are much better sub £100 sets that can be sold within 1-2 years for good return.
Yes, I think the Land Rover could be a winner, especially in the UK. Modulars are always popular but do take a while to increase too much once retired unfortunately
The Land Rover is a John Lewis exclusive, and they (John Lewis), don’t have The Alpine Lodge. They have last year’s winter village set like you mentioned , but The lodge is only on Argos. The Medieval Town Square is a Smyths Toys exclusive, so we could see a deal from them. I’d love the castle, but I’m trying to be sensible with my Lego spending, and like you say, it’s one expensive set !! I reckon that one will get pulled from the list, I can’t see it retiring yet, something like that is always going to sell well.
Ah, thanks for the extra information. It can be difficult to find where a set is exclusive sometimes. Some of these bigger sets do look great, but are expensive to buy and more difficult to store.
Lions king Castle is a go!! Plenty of figures and awesome build… unfortunately the other modules build have no figures…I got to have Lego figures and exclusive the better
Land Rover set has been discounted reasonably frequently at John Lewis by 20-25%. It was exclusive to John Lewis though, if this has changed then offers might be easier to come by elsewhere.
Main priority for 2025: get my sticky little fingers on a Lion Knight’s Castle

Jazz club is cool - it’s low key like the detectives office- blends in well with a city instead of standing out
