- ( www.TFLtruck.com ) The 2013 Ford F-150 FX4 is part of a long tradition of Ford F series pickups. As you may, or may not know, the Ford F-150 is not only America's best selling truck but also best selling vehicle. In fact the Ford F-150 has been the best selling vehicle in America for decades. So when Nathan and Roman had the chance to jump into the latest version of the Ford F-150 in Dearborn, Michigan they jumped at the chance to test out the 2013 Ford F-150 FX4 off-road. How did the might Ford do on an improvised off-road course that Ford built? You'll have to watch this fun and informative TFLTruck video to find out.

If Ford wants to have a real off road test, let the Border Patrol test drive it for a year out on patrol..
Border patrol uses Ford trucks...
That course was lame... Any truck can do that
That was a lame ass course. A power wheels jeep could do that....
FYI any bit of that course could have easily been done in two wheel drive. I've got '12 fx2 with an electronic locking rear diff and the truck amazes me with how capable it is. Both fx2 and fx4 are top notch.
A Nissan Leaf would go trough this obstacle course like a piece of cake
No it wouldn’t
My 14 f150 platinum 3.5 could do that like its a piece of pie i have the automatic running boards aswell so extra ground clearance but its always so much fun to watch f150s off-roading cant wait to take my truck off-roading
Nathan makes great entertainment i can sense he really wanted to drive!
I love this color.
Too weak course for such a capable pickup,,, common Ford....Poor Nathan thinking What is this?
Why so much rim on an FX4? Not gonna get very far with no sidewall on the rubber.
Do any of you fellas know what size the rear block is of this fx4 that’s lifting it up
Haha, The Fast Lane Car just come naturally to Roman. TFL Truck will take a few times to get used to. Love Nathan's interjection at the end there: "Truck dammit!"
I call B.S. the minder is there to make a sales pitch and keep you from having a good time and/or exposing any weakness in the vehicle. Might be a bit hard on a Mustang but my wife's 01 Escape or 06 Explorer would have done well on that "off road" course. It may be a very capable package but until it goes off road for real and without an on board babysitter I will withhold judgement.
you guys came to dearborn i live right by the ford testing grounds coool ;)
I just bought a 2013 and 4 low has just one gear. Are all 2013s like that?
Nice truck
Going back to watch this and see the shotgun slinger Nathan. LOL
Here in the UK an FX4 is an old London taxi (sometimes called a Fairway)......
Very cool
Do you guys think the next Fx4 or Raptor could come with IRS or air suspensions like the Ram 1500 or Range's?
Almost bought one today
u call this off-road ?? come'n guys
Hey can you guys do a video about Dodge Ram TRX4 vs the Ford F150 FX4 I think that would make a great episode
thumbs up for Nathan
Nathan awesome back seated
This is my truck. Wish yalld test her on yalls new course.
Well it is the higher end version of the FX4, off road package. You can get it without the leather, navigation, 22 inch tires and the HID headlights.
I love the missed catch on the coin toss followed by the miscommunication on the high five lol, a couple good ole boys but not real smooth...
I bought mine new in 2013. I still own it. Good truck. Its a shame Ford screwed up the F150 line.
Any issues with it? We're looking at 1 with 71xxx miles any fed back would be appreciated
@@Brianlee131 No problems at all. Had the breaks done and a new battery. Mine is 100% stock. No oil catch can nothing aftermarket.
I own an F-150 5.0L FX4 Supercab of this generation, just in my own personal curiosity, in what ways do you think Ford screwed up the F-150 line since then? Personally I wasn't the biggest fan of the exterior or interior look of the 2015 - 2020 models however I think they've made a comeback in this department with the 2021+ trucks. My biggest complaint was that they took the 6.2L V8 off the option sheet after the 2014 model year. When I bought my truck my intent was to get a 6.2L but it was unavailable in the cab/bed configuration I wanted at that time so settled ''and I say that lightly'' on the 5.0L but it was hardly a ''settlement'' honestly. The 6.2L may have had a little bit more juice overall, but the 5.0L has more than enough for my needs and is a little easier of fuel than the 6.2L would have been. That being said, I'd killed for an updated 6.2L / 10-Speed combo in the current F-150's it would easily be the top V8 in its class considering the current 5.0L / 10-Speed trucks hang with GM's own 6.2L trucks. So my biggest complaint about the F-150 is the lack of a high displacement V8, the Ecoboost is great and all, but I wish Ford had kept the 6.2L around longer in the F-150.
TRUCK DAMN IT!
nathan you finally appeared on a video without the hat
My wife likes to modulate my throttle. I have an 04 fx4 great truck..
I'd like to see this same test circuit done at 50km/h. A race would be awesome.
And I wrote this before they mentioned that the Raptor could do it way faster. Where's that video!
I bought my 2013 F150 FX4 two weeks ago and I love it! Great truck! Right now GM 2013 is kind of meh. Their new 2014 looks ugly to me but the GMC didn't look too bad but I've never cared for GMC versions. Not sure what GM is thinking with their new 2014s. The Rams are nice but Dodge still has that lower reliability problem so I didn't go with them either. No interest in the Tundra or Titan. IMHO Ford is the way to go right now. At least it was for me. Others may have a different view/opinion.
Skott62 still have it?
Still have it?
@@BestowalPants90 Yes. Its been a great truck. Only problem it has had was about two years ago the sun/moon roof mechanism failed and had to be replaced. It was under warranty and Ford fixed it for free. The original mechanism was under powwered so Ford put on a beefier one that later models have installed. I love this truck! So does my wife. lol
Nathan Rocks....Nice shotgun and Middle finger..............although Nathan sat silent in the car ll eyes were on nathan and his Actions,TFL ROCKS
Could y'all do a GMC Sierra All-Terrain, plz?
Bro I can do that course with my bike
Cool!!!
Look at Nathan at 1:34
Love you kiddo
why does ford put locking rear diffs on the 2wd models but not the 4x?
They do with the off road packages.
+Daniel Bell fx4 has a locking rear?
Nathan Brown Yes, from 2009 and up.

lol nathan is great
Nathan is hilarious
I was thinking more along the lines of dumb a$$? Yea, yea, an annoying dumb a$$, both of 'em! Was that harsh? Naw...
couldve campared your thoughts
A geo metro could make this course
Why didn't Nathan just go with another advisor in a different f-150?
I could do that course in a ford fiesta lol
I like the white one just looks better
Lol Nathan is funny.
Nathan is so funny
i got the red one.
How was it? Looking at getting one?
@@Brianlee131 Like any other car with turbos make sure you have a mechanic check if they're still in good condition.
@@gerardoandrade6966 ok thank you so much
That truck as well as most trucks/SUVs could do the whole course in 2WD
my thoughts exactly
Get the raptor it would be fun
CHEVY FORD if they had the raptor in their hands , Nathan would probably get nausea and vomit
the test course is silly and soft
ford must do a real test like Japanese car makers
Nathan.... U rock! But, gotta work on ur miming! :)
coming up next ... (intro) ,, whata ? o_0
a RAV 4 4wd can do that course. Sorry but that course is week. I'm just saying!! take that same Ford to the GMC course. like to see that FX4 truck go up a 40% in cline the right side of the truck on dry surface and other two wheel on water coming down or ice. I love my GMC z71 truck and happy to pay 7-10K more then Ford FX4 truck. I also love my OnStar System. That right there you can not put a price on that will protect my Family and get help anytime anywhere.
weak*
Honda civic can do that
And Prius too
3 dorks driving instead of being in kitchen making a sandwich 😅
I know that you need to follow instructions but there's a simple truth I would have went all over the place wrecked that tracked in never ever would I ever be invited back to forward again but I would have proved that that truck does what it's supposed to do at the end of the day they just send you down this little path that honestly I could do on my bike and sound impressive it's stupid
Hate preset course, let alone this one is NOT a course, it's just some bumps.
Whats the difference between this and the raptor
High end off road package! Joke right?
Lol at all you try hards in the comment section claiming your Corolla or whatever could do this course better. Let's be real, your little squatty front wheel drive open diff economy car isn't doing jack shit on this course. I agree, this course is lame and does nothing to show off the F-150's actual abilities off road, but you are delusional if you think you are going to make it through 1:30 or over 3:25 in your tiny ass car without either getting stuck or tearing off your undercarriage completely.
That wasn't as informative as they think it was. A lame test on a lame track. Fail.
Maybe truck not so lame, mostly course and "minder" saying one or one and half mph, that's just pathetic it's a f***ing 4wd truck
i'm looking to buy this model and year so just checking
they are 20's not 22's
MOO
I would like to take my Lariet Supercrew 4X4 to this course.
RUclips+Sony Vegas=choppy video :-(
COME TO LOUISIANA... I CAN SHOW YOU WHAT I DO TO MY 2013 F150 4X4... REAL MUD!
3:32 sliding into the dm's
Nice but the raptor is better for off road
I agree with the rest. What a lame course. I have '15 F150 Lariat and wanted to see what it can do off road. Didn't learn anything here. Listen Ford. Get "Brite Lite" design an off road course for you.
😂✌🏼✋🏼✋🏼
lol
wow didnt even break traction.... how boring i have that truck though
ford have 10 pick-up trucks & everyone have its own power check their website , i own a 2004 ford lariat ( one the 3 heaviest truck among the 10 ) supercrew cap with 4x4 & runs perfect .
Lmao 😎
Haha - my Kia could have driven thru that Ford offroad track.. Poor Nathan stuck in the back bored to tears!!
stop the joking and commenting talk about the truck would have been great
why? he even made jokes
Bored much Nathan? lol
I like Ford and I think they're great trucks, but I coulda done this lame ass course in my little 2wd Tacoma. And it doesnt even sit that high off the ground.
4 real
That was GAY!!
this trail is a joke......
i could go there with my focus..
bad test..
My 2wd car will make it through this bullshit course. Passenger in the truck obviously has never been off road at all.
IFS lol......not an offroad vehicle
Plenty of vehicles are IFS and even IRS as well and still plenty capable off road, take the Hummer H1 for example, arguably one of the most capable off road vehicles in history and it has both IFS and IRS, the only off road advantage a front and rear live axle Jeep has over an H1 is that it can fit in much tighter places. And aside from all that, its a 1/2 ton truck dude, Ford isn't building the F-150 to cater to trail riders, this trucks expected duties ''in stock for'' shouldn't exceeded driving around on a ranch or going a little off the beaten path to camp or whatever, this vehicle is a multi tasking vehicle, not a strict off roader.
