The Ford F-Series is a series of light-duty trucks marketed and manufactured by Ford since the 1948 model year. The F-Series is marketed as a range of full-sized pickup trucks positioned above the midsize Ranger but below the larger Super Duty in the Ford truck lineup.[1] Alongside the F-150 (introduced in 1975), the F-Series also includes the Super Duty series (introduced in 1999), which includes the heavier-duty F-250 through F-450 pickups, F-450/F-550 chassis cabs, and F-600/F-650/F-750 Class 6-8 commercial trucks.
Introduced in 1957, the third generation F-Series was a significant modernization and redesign. Front fenders became integrated into the body, and the new "Styleside" bed continued the smooth lines to the rear of the pickup.
The cab-over F-Series was discontinued, having been replaced by the tilt-cab C-Series.
In 1959, Ford began its very first production of factory four-wheel-drive pickups.
The F-Series was first introduced in 1948 as a replacement for a previous pickup model line based on car platforms.
The most popular version of the model line is the F-150 pickup truck, currently in its fourteenth generation (introduced for the 2021 model year). From 1953 to 1983, the entry-level F-Series pickup was the 1⁄2 ton F-100. Starting in 1984, the F-150 became the entry-level. The F-150 has a long-running high-performance off-road trim level introduced for 2010, the (SVT) Raptor currently consisting of three generations. Production of the F-150 SVT Raptor ended in 2014 and it was planned to be succeeded by a new F-150 Raptor, which is based on the thirteenth and fourteenth generation F-150.
The F-Series trucks have been developed into a wide range of design configurations. Alongside medium-duty trucks and "Big Job"[clarification needed] conventional trucks (the forerunners of the Ford L-series), the model line has been marketed as a chassis-cab truck and a panel van (a predecessor of the Ford E-Series). The F-Series has served as the platform for various full-sized Ford SUVs, including the Ford Bronco, Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator, and Ford Excursion. The F-Series has been marketed by its three North American brands: by Mercury as the M-Series (in Canada from 1948 to 1968), and by Lincoln in the 2000s, as the Blackwood and the later Mark LT (2010s for the latter in Mexico only).
Since 1977, the F-Series has remained the best-selling pickup truck line in the United States; it has been the best-selling vehicle overall since 1981.[2][3] The F-Series has been the best-selling truck in Canada for over fifty years.[4][5][6] As of the 2018 model year, the F-Series generated $41 billion (~$47.3 billion in 2022) in annual revenue for Ford.[7] By January 2022, the F-Series models have sold over 40 million units.[8] Currently, Ford manufactures the F-Series in four facilities in the United States.
Modeling is an artform and a creative outlet. That is a sweet model.
Chris you have absolutely without a doubt knocked it out the park again with this one! Love the colors awesome work!😊
Love that colour scheme! Classic!
Another beautiful build! Brings back childhood memories. Back when pickup trucks were pickup trucks. Someday, I want to build a '59 Chevrolet Apache. GREAT work as usual.
As-always, many thanks for another great video. This has got to be one of the most anticipated kits in recent years. Now if Round2 could only get it actually released to the modeling community, it'd make a lot of us happy! 😊😊😊😊
That's the fun of building a kit , do it the way want to. great looking build.
That could easily pass for the real deal. I have a 59 f100 and would say that you nailed it. Love your videos and your channel.
This wasn't one that i really wanted to get, till i watched this. All new tooling, and the trailer, plus the great emblems.. Chris, I'm gonna go broke if i keeping watching you make these great kits!
another thought/suggestion Hpi. Perhaps make a whatever model of parts left over from any of the models unused (from one WI guy to another) always a Thumb Up from this Squirrel.
great model ..and thanks for the different ideas to stick in lights an windows ..
I always get a new idea, tip or trick from every video you make an I appreciate that thanks for the time an effort you invest in your videos Cris 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Another great build and I like the fact this trailer is a bit different from the others I've been seeing of late. I like these older pickup models - this one is fairly simple to build unlike the later model Moebius ones but seems to go together fairly well and a good paint job makes it stand out.
Another awesome build with an amazingly awesome color combination thanks for the time invested 👍🏻👍🏻
Excellent color combo. Excellent job.
Great build Chris, wonderful color choices for the truck and trailer!! Excellent presentation as always!!
Beautiful build Chris, love the colour choices too.
This is a must have.
Holy cow 🐄,Mr steady hand at is finest again,Ty so much for your video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great color choices! Awesome two tone. It never occurred to me to use the green you picked. I'm going to use that one!
That’s a kit I can’t wait to build! Great job Chris looks fantastic. One of my favorite Ford body styles. Thanks for your time and review!!! 😎👍
Did a great job on that trailer, really like it. Thanks for the build, and thanks for all the tips about the tires.
I kept expecting Tom and Jerry to be sneaking around during the painting. 🙂
Thanks. Now I have to get my hands on a couple of these kits too
Chris I looked up this old classic and oh yeah!
I came across a box art for the 62 truck and there was an out line of the alakart on the trailor !
So I see where my project is going!
Pure nostalgia!
Nice work. You’ve convinced me. I need to buy this kit. 😅
Just got my copy and will do it my way thanks
I enjoyed watching this build because it brought back memories. Waaaay back in 1974 my dad bought a pale blue '57 Ford F100 Custom Cab long bed Flareside with a bad 6-cylinder engine. It featured a 4-speed "granny gear" transmission, the small window in the back of the cab, and no radio. Dad and I changed that engine and that truck was the vehicle in which I learned to drive. Dad sold the truck in '75, and I last saw it in a parking lot in Oklahoma City in the late '70s. I would later discover my truck was one of only 1800 like it made in '57. The Styleside and the short bed versions were more popular.
This is a great looking kit and I'll most likely purchase one. I just wish that it came with a straight six. You did a good job with the model.
Dig the color choice. The white walls with stock "dog dish" hub caps really highlight the look. Oh - and the interior is sweet - the "tree" shifter "sells" the look. Thanks for this one!
Thank you for the tip about the wheel backs and inserting them into tires. Without that info, I likely would have forced things I didn't need to force.
As much attention as Round2 paid on details like hood trim pieces, I am totally surprised they did not include a decal for the tailgate "F-O-R-D" letters.
Round2 should also update this kit with stock powertrains, the 292 V8 and the base I-6. Tri-power engine was not a production motor for this truck, to my knowledge.*
* However, the valve covers for a tri-power were more than likely painted gold.
I own a '63 that a short split cab and bed. It has 23,000 original miles V8. You did the inter fenders perfectly. Another radiator support is body color. Your engine looks great. Factory the 292 was all red. Can't wait to get this kit as I plan on making a ford car hauler for my thunderbolt.
Very nicely done Chris! I'm absolutely loving that two tone white and green! That trailer is definitely a nice touch! Can't wait to get a couple myself!
Great build and kit
Sweet looking truck Chris. Very well done. Im going to have to gonover to Round 2 and pre-order one for myself.
Looks great Chris keep up the awesome work
Looks great!
Nice build, when I was a kid there was no way I would build any car model stock. However, after watching a few of your kit builds I may build at least one or two stock.
Great build. Very nice.
I love it. That green and creme is so nice. Now I want to build it too! I love the entire Ford truck model kit series.
I went through the back side on the wheels with the tires and had no problem at all!
Maybe you had stiffer rubber tires but no problem!
Love the color nice build as usual 👌 😊
Another fun build my friend...I love the color combo.
Thank you! Cheers!
great color combo!
Great build Chris! Fantastic color combination. I’ll definitely be getting a couple of these when they hit the shelves.
looks very nice chris love the paint combo your buddy john .w
Very nice Christopher
Chris, you got a beauty there! Nice work!
KUDOS ON THE BUILD 💯
I would have painted it red and white like the box but I like your version much better
I think the green color is period correct 👍
Beautiful build mate👍
Awesome color combo!
Great kit. I’ll get at least two. The inner fenders are semi gloss black - at least they are in my 57 F250.
Man, I can't wait to get a few of these. I have some old original built ups but it's nice to start with a new kit. Great job with yours & great video as always. Thanks for sharing!👍👍
I'm so glad to see this reissue of the 1960 annual kit. The one I bought in '60 is not in the best of shape after 70 years. I hope if it sells well and more of then will come out. In the mid 60's some of the 59 and 60 curb annuals were reissued as junior kits...just thinking
Like the video and the review. I think this will be a nice kit for me to build, the trailer will be great for hauling a race car. Have a great day and keep up the great work.
Nice job! The colors really made this one.
Chris, keep doing what you're doing. Your videos are the best, and entertaining!
I do the same thing with my builds. Like you said so many times, "build for YOU!"
Nice build
Awesome job Chris on this 60 Ford P/Up. I plan to buy this kit as soon as i can. Thanks for sharing.
Beauty!
Cool as always 👍
Awesome build Chris! Can't wait to get my hands on a couple of these kits👍
this is a classic kit it would be cool if they would bring out a panel of the same year as the f-100 pickup
Nice job Chris, good looking model and a great choice on color scheme.
In 1974 they cost $4 at Woolworth's now they're $25-30 Hobby Lobby God Damn it!
Very nice looking model. You did an outstanding job on this one. I don’t like the molded in rear end, exhausts, and driveshaft, but I don’t think it will stop me from buying one. Thanks for sharing.
Another great build! Love the color combo! This got me thinking...have you ever done a video of your display area and your work space? I'd love to see that.
Love this build (love and learn a lot from watching you). Heck - I immediately found one to add to my stash and think i will follow your lead on the two tone color. But maybe a blue color appropriate for the era as my main color. Have a couple questions. 1) What exactly is ModPodge and what do you use it for in reference to model building. 2) How do you 'touch up etc" your parts that dont get paint while you paint them on the sprue? 3) Im guessing you are using the Aleenes Gel Glue to glue painted parts together - is that the case? Thanks for the inspiration and ill admit i have bought more than this kit cause of the cool stuff you make look so good and so easily!
That is a carry over design from the 1957-58-59 Ford Pick-up truck. As the 1950's came to a close, Chevy and GMC changed the design for 1960. Ford and Dodge did Not change their body style until 1961, The Big 3 pick-up truck makers. Note Chevy and GMC are almost the same kind. Only labeling is different
Did you thin the tamiya paint before you used it or did you just straight out the bottle ?
Hola
Podrías poner su títulos en español, por favor. Excelente contenido. Saludos
Every time I watch your videos which are all and you show the Kaiser silver gel pen I pick up the phone and search for it. I can’t find it anywhere? All the Kaiser I find are neon or pastel colors. I know you’re a busy guy but could you direct me where to buy. Thanks a million. Beautiful build by the way!
How did you do the valve cover lettering?
Is that a new glue your using in the big bottle
yes back when trucks were trucks and no crew cabs i hate crew cabs
👍👍
Is that Canopy glue your using on the glass?
Chris normally uses Mod Podge super gloss on all his glass.
only reason I cut
As much as I dislike AI voice I really wish in 2024 creators would use more narrative explaining what they are doing and so on than muzak.
I’m only 73 so I could be wrong….But I’m thinking in 1961 the 292 was black with red breather and red valve covers, the 352 was black with blue breather and blue valve covers and the new 390 was black with gold breather and gold valve covers. The colors was the only way back then that I could tell the 352 from the the 390. The 292 valve covers were held on by two nuts on top of the valve covers. Hope this helps.
I enlarged the picture of you showing the box art and that is the 292….SO, YOU GOT IT RIGHT….
dipping my toe in the water so to speak iirc there was a thunderbird engine in those days that had gold colored valve covers. i don't remember if it was an option or a swap, i'm a little younger but i was working for firestone and goodyear service centers in the early 80's and saw a lot of engines doing oil changes. i don't see anything wrong with chris's choice in engine colors, its anybody's guess what that engines has had done to it in 64 years.
@@phantom629 I believe Thunderbirds had silver painted breather and valve covers. Don’t hold me to that because as my age goes up my memory goes Down. And for some reason, my pants belt-line has gone up with my age to under my arm pits……
Outstanding build Chris! Funny thing, from the moment you did the unboxing of that kit I knew you were going to use Sage Green on it! What is the allure of that color? I'm doing the Revell Land Rover in that color and it's perfect for it! Any time I see a truck kit my Sage Green trigger finger gets to itching. And yes...my '60 Ford pickup will be Sage Green too.🤪😜🤣
I would like to do one with a dual-quad, 427 SOHC engine. Weathered pantina paint job.
Question: Which engine is the stock engine please?
Did they supply a ball or pin for the trailer to attch to the truck
I show all those parts in both unboxings, in this video, and in the longer in depth unboxing, along with still images of every single tree.
Thanks!
Where's your trailer hitch?
On the parts tree like I show.
If you mean why is it not on this truck, it's because I didn't want to add it to this truck.
@@hpiguy How are you going to pull the trailer?
@@lylejohnston4125 Just because the two kits came in the same box doesn't mean you have to make them work together.
'It's your model and your world, do what you want to do with them' is what I preach in every single video.
"How to assemble paint"
How do you REALLY assemble paint?
Verrrwwy Careffuwwwyy 🤔🤔🤔❓❓ 🤣😂🤣😂
6 foot bed pick up trucks are a waste of money if you are going to haul stuff youare best to buy a 8 foot pick up go big or go home .
