I bought one of these last year. I was very happy to see this video,it gives me ideas on how to build it better. In 1981 I bought a 1972 Buick Skylark. The first thing I did was to put the GSX wheels and hood on it. It was still a Skylark but it looked so much sportier. With the huge back seat I created quite a few night moves in it.
I appreciate you Sir. I've gotten into modeling over the last year and a half. I've done 5 kits, and with using many of your tips, the one I just finished though nowhere near perfect, is my best yet. Thank you for what you do.
Your brush painting skills are so much better than mine. "Cool on you!" That's why I have to paint things like exhaust manifolds before installing them. I sure enjoy your videos. Thank you!
memories of high school (1975). A friend had his dads, there were 5 of us in it and the headers scraped on the speed bumps but it would still do a burnout on demand!!! Torque, I love torque!!!
"Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick?" The advertising jingle that played everywhere for several years - back in the day. My answer - "YES - if it's THIS Buick." What a charmer. The details are a wonder to ponder. You know your stuff, Chris. Thanks for sharing...
this car is always a winner for me! i hate the yellow version but GORGEOUS CAR! i envision it in a lime green pearl, but that STRIPE!! too bad someone with a decal machine cant pop em in different colors, gorgeous build, built mine in 92 and shes a long term survivor, nice build
Beautiful car! Beautiful model! I miss those GM cars from the 1970's! I had a 1972 pontiac lemans in high skool that got me thru college too! Great video!
I remember waiting so impatiently for this kit upon its first release around 1990 or so. I got one and built it immediately in yellow, just like this one. Just a few months ago I built another one. But this time I painted it metallic bronze and left off all the GSX goodies. Just like a GS I should have bought when I was about 17 years old. Nice job again, Chris !
Another great build, Chris! Love the fact that you lifted the rear end. 1970's GM cars often suffered from "saggy butt" syndrome, LOL. It definitely looks better. I will now build this kit again, giving it a little nip/tuck in the rear. Cheers....:)
I watch you so in different models nobody need to say the words I say use the old car parts box make a cool car cool hot rod happy cool I'm going to try it right now but I had too many brewskies I didn't know what that means that'd be cool you use different part models I really like watching your videos so you have a good day I mean beautiful
Awesome build Chris. Great looking GSX. Thanks for the tips on doing the woodgrain detail. I'm restoring a 70 Olds 442 and am just now doing the woodgrain on the dash.
Definitely going to pick up this kit sometime soon. Glad they updated the decal sheet because it was a bit lackluster in the old Monogram releases. Great video btw.
Looking forward to this coming back out. Nice job on the color. They were only available in the Saturn Yellow or Apollo White for ‘70, and that paint you chose nailed it. I built one a few years back in white, so this one’ll be yellow.
1970 Buick GSX cars were only available in Yellow or White paint colors with a black interior. I built that same car model kit back in the early 1990s. I don't remember if it was a Monogram or Revell branded kit. I painted the body yellow with a black interior and used the black body stripes.
Nice looking detail on the model. I learned a lot watching your assembly process. It's been many years since doing model building so I'm looking forward to doing much more detailed work. Great video!
This kit has been out a few times . Nice kit I don't like the way the head lights look and wish the had some more options. I bought some Keith marks decals and some different colors from scale finishes to go a little different with my kit .
Great job Chris, I had the original release when it came out in the early 90s. As I remember that release could only be built stock and I made a mess of the decals. I have ordered this one from model round up and am looking forward to it. I hope mine comes up as good as your yellow one, it looks fantastic.
Great looking model Chris! You’ve done a fine job on this one as usual! Always liked those beefy looking muscle cars. Some shackles and bigger rear tires, ready to lay a patch. Nice looking kit! 👍🏻
Excellent video! One thing you forgot to mention on the air cleaner decals ...there is one for the Stage One and Stage 2 designation which with the aluminum manifold is what yours is . The Stage 2 version was the even hotter 500 plus horsepower version
Really enjoyed watching you put this together and detail it. Got to admit, I wondered where you were going with the interior wood-grain, but it turned out fantastic! I would definitely build this in yellow, although I'd want the center stripe on hood to match the body color. Maybe would have to paint the hood yellow first, then use decal as mask in center when painting hood black, them remove the mask. Am a bit disappointed Revell includes non lettered tires, since this car was a special edition, I'd get different tires. Definitely want to buy this kit.
Amazing work!! I have always loved that car (and most Buicks, for that matter...). I do have a question - you primed the interior tub then applied Glosscote. Would it look different if you painted the shiny areas with a gloss black instead of the Glosscote? Just curious. Thx
I built one about 22 years ago. after doing some research, I discovered that Saturn Yellow and Apollo White were the only colors available for the GSX.
I just bopught a AMT IHC payhauler kit. The proble I have is it is partially frame bilt. the frame rails are L&R built wrong .I would like to know the phone for AMT to request parts that I need. Thank you : Charlie P.S. I love watching your videos. I have learnd a lot.
Is there a reason you use washi-tape for masking the hood, instead of any other kind of masking tape? Does it work better than normal blue painters tape? How's it compare to Tamiya masking tape?
Great build of another well engineered Revell kit. Wonderful work with the Sharpie’s and the gel pins. You have me hooked of using markers. I am sure I will eventually buy this kit. Thanks for sharing.
Actually chevelle was the generic version even as popular as they were. Out of that GM body style, all the others had certain curves and hood scoops etc that the chevelle didn’t have. Chevy has always had the stripped down basic version of all body styles made by multiple GM manufacturers. And the Buick GS was actually quicker than the Ls6 chevelle, and the HP purposefully under rated for insurance purposes. 510 foot lbs of torque
hey buddy on the real car they painted the head light buckets to match the color of the car in the factory just a friendly reminder other wise hobby on
The GSX only came in two colors, white and yellow. You could also have a 1970 455 Stage 1 GS in any color, but the GSX specifically only came in two colors.
Just to let you know, I got my kit, assembled it, and entered it into our local piston powered Autorama model contest. I won 1st in class (stock) for my build. Check it out on my channel both the build and the model contest videos. Thank you for your inspiration and always telling me to "build it your way"!

Just ordered mine. I owned a 72 GS back in the day. Beautiful car and so rare these days.
the GSX came in Apollo white or Sun yellow the regular GS came in other colors great job I always love Buicks thanks AL from upstate New York
In 71 they added more colors to the GSX package
I appreciate you Sir. I've gotten into modeling over the last year and a half. I've done 5 kits, and with using many of your tips, the one I just finished though nowhere near perfect, is my best yet. Thank you for what you do.
That is awesome!
One of my favorite kits. Older Monogram kits are great. Perfect for 1st time glue kit builders. They go together easily and look great when done.
Torque, I love torque!!!
underrated car from the golden age of muscle, those 455's were absolute torque monsters

great build it's like watching an artist at work
Thanks a lot!
Beautifully done man!👏😎👍nice!
Thanks a lot!
My man so glad you're doin this, my favorite builder. Gonna do this this weekend
Amazing work and I really enjoy your choice of music.
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice build. Those were solid well built cars at the time. TY for the vid.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Very nice Chris. I love the yellow body. TY for the build.
Excellent build. Bright yellow w black accents is really the way to go. Thanks!
Mr steady hand at his best
This kit is still as beautiful as it was when I got it over 20 years ago. Nice build.
I have the same car but it's a 71 stage 1, shaker hood and white paint and black stripes.....this model is very close to my car......great video
Your version came out nice. I wish they could put some Cragars or Ansens as the alternative wheels, instead of something you'd see on a pickup truck.
Man those decals! Never used to like using the box decals but quality is so much improved. Can't wait to build a replica of my Dad's 69 Torino gt.
Absolutely Beautiful I love it
Man!!!! That yellow looks awesome 👌.
Super build Chris as usual. It's on my "when I have money list" (lol)
this car is always a winner for me! i hate the yellow version but GORGEOUS CAR! i envision it in a lime green pearl, but that STRIPE!! too bad someone with a decal machine cant pop em in different colors, gorgeous build, built mine in 92 and shes a long term survivor, nice build
Nice job Chris, especially the back story
Beautiful car! Beautiful model! I miss those GM cars from the 1970's! I had a 1972 pontiac lemans in high skool that got me thru college too! Great video!
Nice build Chris, the black on black interior with the wood paneling was excellent.
Buick and Cadillac engines from around '64 up put the dist in the front where it belongs. :)
Super nice. Looks like a real car. I gotta get this one.
You should!
Very nice kit. Nice job building it too. I like the way they did the fire wall, a bit easier to detail that way.
What a nice body style the GSX has ,as usual top job by yourself 👍🇦🇺
Another great build, Chris! Love the fact that you lifted the rear end. 1970's GM cars often suffered from "saggy butt" syndrome, LOL. It definitely looks better. I will now build this kit again, giving it a little nip/tuck in the rear. Cheers....:)

Popping Bussing Mr Chris I LOVE THE MUSCLE LOOK BEEF
Awesome build Chris. Great looking GSX. Thanks for the tips on doing the woodgrain detail. I'm restoring a 70 Olds 442 and am just now doing the woodgrain on the dash.
Wow. Incredible work. From where I'm sitting, this is next-level stuff! You've got some great techniques.
I really like this buick fantastic work my uncle own one of those buicks very cool build
Love the new content! Thank you for showing us how you actually build these wonderful kits! Have an amazing day!
Definitely going to pick up this kit sometime soon. Glad they updated the decal sheet because it was a bit lackluster in the old Monogram releases. Great video btw.
Drool. I hope this kit becomes available here in Aus soon.
Great looking car - great build. Thanks again.
A white with black trim interior would have worked!
Always a great build, Chris!
That's an awesome looking kit
Looking forward to this coming back out. Nice job on the color. They were only available in the Saturn Yellow or Apollo White for ‘70, and that paint you chose nailed it. I built one a few years back in white, so this one’ll be yellow.
Cool kit, need to get one
Excellent build Chris, love this color combination 😍! Great presentation!!
nice build.i still don't have time to work on any ove my models.sometime I'll buy it to add it to my collection ove model cars.nice build.
Super jealous! Love how you built the kit, as that is PERFERCT! Looks just like the real thing! I am pre ordering my kit NOW!

Didn't watch this yet but giving a thumbs-up anyway. Added to watch later :-)
That is so pretty
This has always been one of my favourite kits, took me a long time to find an original over here.
Nice build as always Chris.
Many thanks Gary!
This is a nice model. Great job!
Awesome bud, beautiful ride, no doubt! Man, fantastic job as always! Rock on 🤘 brother man, rock on!!
Nice looking detail on the model. I learned a lot watching your assembly process. It's been many years since doing model building so I'm looking forward to doing much more detailed work. Great video!

Very nice👍
Great Job! the fuel tank should be bare steel color tough :)
I see we both use the same spring clamps. If the red covers breakdown, you can use heat shrink tubing to replace the red protective cover.
Your build skills are to be much admired. Ya Rocked on this one, beautiful model 😊😎
Great job Chris, I had the original release when it came out in the early 90s. As I remember that release could only be built stock and I made a mess of the decals. you should put all the sprays and tools you used where one can buy them.
How do you get yellow paint to look so good. I spray on yellow and it never covers well!
Great looking build my friend! I love this muscle car!
Really enjoyed watching you put this together and detail it. Got to admit, I wondered where you were going with the interior wood-grain, but it turned out fantastic!

another awesome build..!!!

I have looked for the Testors Glosscoat that you use in your interiors but can find it anywhere? Another great job!

nice build I like the black over yellow good job
Is there a reason you use washi-tape for masking the hood, instead of any other kind of masking tape? Does it work better than normal blue painters tape? How's it compare to Tamiya masking tape?
Is the prismacolor pen a marker or colored pencil and where did you get them please
Mill City Resins makes the Convertible conversion for this kit. That is the version I built. Mine looks just like his but a convertible.
I saw that, nice!
A set of steelies would have looked good on the back with those oversized tires!
1970 GSX Stage 1's were only available in three colors. Black, Saturn Yellow, & Apollo White.
Another awesome build
Hey pal,I see you using a glue with a brush, what kind is itthanks
Cool kit ............. 👍👍👍
I have seen one of these molded in yellow.
Great build of another well engineered Revell kit. Wonderful work with the Sharpie’s and the gel pins. You have me hooked of using markers. I am sure I will eventually buy this kit. Thanks for sharing.

What glue do you use that you brush on?
Bondene
These cars also came in root beer Brown metallic. With a vinyl top. 3 panel, vinyl top.
Extremely rare, and very difficult to find.
Mine was yellow with a white interior and vinyl top. Loved that car!
I think they only came in white and yellow exterior colors
Looks good Chris I got one on the way
hey buddy on the real car they painted the head light buckets to match the color of the car in the factory just a friendly reminder other wise hobby on
The GSX only came in two colors, white and yellow. You could also have a 1970 455 Stage 1 GS in any color, but the GSX specifically only came in two colors.
LOL! I call it Generic Mortars, Geriactic Motors, or Generic Motors. My cousin has a full size GSX clone in Saturn Yellow.
Just to let you know, I got my kit, assembled it, and entered it into our local piston powered Autorama model contest. I won 1st in class (stock) for my build. Check it out on my channel both the build and the model contest videos. Thank you for your inspiration and always telling me to "build it your way"!
Nice work!

@@urbanurchin5930 ???????
Great job build one in each color thanks for sharing!
Those are the only colors GSX had
