- Zalera is located in Barheim Passage, Terminal N°7. In order to enter here, you need to get the Barheim Key first. This key item is available after your complete a sidequest called "Patient in the Desert". In this quest, you need to collect several items for a wounded NPC at the South Bank Village. Also, you can get a Golden Amulet early.
This battle has special conditions! First off, you need to defeat Zalera within 5 minutes. If you fail, you will have to start all over again! Also, Zalera is immune to physical damage whenever its minions are on the field! So, make sure to kill them first! And finally, its special attack can defeat your entire party instantly. So, make sure that your reserve team is ready to fight and revive fallen members!

First off, thanks for the guides. Since I enjoy them I would like to help you correct something with this one. You are missing an important step, and that is you must speak to Dantro, the NPC you turn in hunt #3 to (the flowering cactus or w/e). Once you turn it in you speak to him again and he'll have you bring the flower to his wife. You bring it to her and she gives you a reward. Once you get the reward, leave the village and go back inside and there will be a bunch of people gathered by a boat. Talk to "Tchigri" who is on the dock. Do the quest that it starts to rescue the villager from the cactuar. Once that is done the woman will FINALLY start asking you collect stuff. Until I did the stuff I just mentioned she just went on about her husband or something but didn't ask me to collect anything for her.

First off, how do you get to the north bank (cross the river)? I know I did this quest early so I'm stuck at her third request.

but the worse question is, how do i get to the terminal seven, if i have the barheim key, but it does not take me there, worse part is how to get there??!!!

U did ur thing in this video against this tricky esper, I hate being in that position constantly reviving and barely surviving lol
I came up with a strategy to beat Zalera the esper really early .. So I was able to get armor real early that gives your perminant (reflect) and I just cast cura abd curaga with my mages in the party and I took down Zalera in 1min and 30 secs.. pretty damn awesome . I love this !! grin

Wrong door. It's the door that's closest to the village area that is the one needed to be unlocked but I'm sure you've worked that out by now...
Easy way to beat this boss without dealing with Reflect: equip Mirror Mails and have your White Mage spam Curaja on the party.
The result: each cast of Curaja will result in 3 high-damage attacks to Zalera and his minions since they're all undead. Also make sure your characters are NOT at prime levels or they will get hit by Prime Lv. Death. It's far better to take something like a Lv. 3 Disable since you can block that with accessories.
What if you already sold the great serpent skin :-(
Mmm I didnt find other way to get this. By the way, you dont need the Great Serpentskin for finishing the quest. It's only for getting the golden amulet.

So do you have to do the lil side mission to get the key though?
Yes, the wounded NPC will give you the key.
if you didn't sell the great serpent skin and handed it in for the dalmascan patient side quest you get an accessory.

I got the key but its not taking me too Terminus 7
You have to play the game. I cant make a video to show you an entire walkthrough for that. To get the Barheim Key is the tricky part of this, the rest is easy for everybody. Actually, before the Zalera battle, I showed you the entire map of Barheim Passage, so you can use that if you are lost.
So from what I'm seeing, this entire fight is like XIII's Eidolon battles were you're main fighter gets doom-ed at the beginning! Beat the fight within the time limit and fine but don't and you ESSENTIALLY have start over from the beginning!
Except this fight predates FF13 and you have 5 minutes as opposed to 3 for the Eidolon fights, but yeah.
