I've said it before. You need another garage. Garages are pretty inexpensive to build, it looks like you have the room, you wouldn't have to shuffle cars around, and maybe include a small studio. Also, keep the Balboni!
Please don't. It's a piece of Lamborghini's history. Mr. Valentino balboni was a very respected test driver of the company. The fact that Lamborghini built this limited edition, is proof of man's excellence and dedication for the brand. This is a tribute for him.
I too thought this but I realised I was being a romantic connoisseur. Sorry to be cynical but as a multiple Lamborghini V12 owner, it was clever marketing cashing in on his name. He was also doing alot of public relations at the time. He was also one of many test drivers and in the Lamborghini circles from those living through the 1963 to 2000 era (350Gt to Diablo 6.0), Bob Wallace (350 GT/Miura) , Valentino Balboni (Miura/ Countach) Sandro Munari Diablo) were all equally contributing. One important thing that l supports your comment is that Valentino is the only test driver still alive who knew Ferrucio personally - so yes he is important in that respect.
Why has this channel not got more subscribers? The quality of really special cars that are owned and not borrowed is fantastic, the reviews of cars in in depth and honest coming from someone who actually owns a lot of rare and special cars rather than borrowing them. I personally love the content and look forward to every new episode guys 👍
This is probably one the best reviews of a Gallardo from an owner I’ve watched. Great video! I own a manual 2003 Murcielago and a 2013 Aventador. Lamborghinis are difficult cars to sell. I was thinking of adding your car to my collection but the imcreased premium for the “ Balboni” monika and stripe do not seem worth the extra cost compared to the manual 550-2. My fellow Lamborghini and Ferrari owner (2003 Manual Murcielago and manual 360 Modena) sold his manual RHD 550-2 for £110K earlier this year and it took ages to sell. The market for Gallardos is not as active as your beloved and quite rightly bestowed Ferrari market. If this was a manual F430 it would sell like a shot but I think the manual Balboni cars are overpriced. There is a Grigio Telesto Balboni egear for sale (another car I thought of adding to my collection) but no one will touch it as e-gear Gallardos are a liability regarding reliability. The 2006 manual RHD Grigio Proteus Gallardo for £65K sold like a shot. Prospective Lambo owners (and I say this knowing I’m in the same boat) want a good looking car, sounds awesome and the doors go up. - yep fairly simplistic I know! They don’t care which version of the car they get as long as it’s the right colour! They aren’t thinking in the discerning way you as a collector are unless they are a true Lamborghini enthusiast-which is rare looking at the types of videos posted on RUclips. . I would keep it or part exchange for a manual Murcielago (the Azuro Aquarius RHD manual is the best one on the market currently). You will have a flagship Lambo with the manual gearbox, naturally aspirated V12 and also some change left over to take the family out. Also, until you have experienced a manual V12 Lambo you haven’t experienced what the brand is about You will love it!! (Despite Lambo having no interest in anyone buying one of their older cars - Ferrari do care about their customers buying used cars however). Let me know if you do that part exchange and I will introduce you to my mechanic Mike Pullen who is known as Mr Countach. He is the best guy to care for any Lambo and as a multiple owner he keeps the costs down. Also Lamborghini London and other main dealers send Miuras, Diablos, Murcielagos and Gallardos to him to fix as main dealers can’t work on anything other than sn Aventador, Huracan or Urus whilst charging extortionate rates. On another note, I was surprised to hear the car is so fidgety. I use Jethro Bovington’s Drivetribe review to guide me on the manual Gallardo 550-2 and it’s not something that comes across. Just my thoughts so all the best if you decide to sell. Keep up the great content and thank you for putting the time and effort in as an owner to go through each of your cars in detail. @Grigiogt
Excellent Damian! If you’re not driving it, let it go, and replace with a car you love to drive. I’m in same boat now with my 16M. Love it, but being limited I don’t drive it as much and would like the extra space for incoming 812GTS.
I'd definitely go along with Jayemms diagnosis and get the cars steering and suspension alignment checked over before you decide to get rid - if it does make a difference it might make you think differently of the car. Its always been a car though I think you respect more than you love - that just might be the deciding factor in to letting the car go to pastures new. 👍
OMG the last statement took me back. Haddnt realised you guys arn't at the 100K point yet. Truly shocking. And the Balboni... couldn't you extend the garage a little????
Damian, a buddy of mine has that car and he always tells me that it takes a lot of effort and attention to drive it; however, he loves it as dearly as you do!
Once I have in my mind the idea to sell a car, its 'sold'... even if the pre-sale activity is still pending. There's a reason why you're even thinking about selling - you've moved-on. This is not the same as regret about selling after the deed is done... but then its too late.

Please keep it. That engine plus a manual box is amazing. I get what you are saying about “the fear” but surely that’s part of the experience. If you need the space, surely there are others in the garage that should go before this?
You certainly convinced me after 6mins. You clearly relate to the car and having owned it for so long, you have absorbed the cost and depreciation(?). Being a manual, a drivers car, I would keep it, and stick it in the back of your garage!!!!! Great commentary.
Thanks guys for my car guys fix was just what I needed. Bearing in mind you don’t need the money I think you should build a bigger garage your never going to lose money on her. But on the other hand if she is not getting driven it’s time to go 👍x
Your stable needs a Lambo, Damien. This car has character, and in a few years time when cars become driverless conveyances, this and others like it will offer experience from another time. Literally, it’s a time machine. If this goes you won’t buy a newer one, you tried that once! So a replacement could be a Miura? If not, I urge you to keep the Balboni.
I'd suggest you have 2 options (from one Damian to another): I'll look after it for you in the northern winter, down under, so wet roads aren't an issue OR get a bigger garage. Don't sell the Lambo. & don't waste your time with it on those English B roads. Take it for intercontinental blasts & then open up the taps/give it the beans throughout Europe.
I was sure that the Balboni was in the “Cars I’ll never sell” part of an end of year, what’s in/what’s out episode. This is a gorgeous car, Damian. Please don’t sell.

@carguys.tv I have an LP550-2. I relate to some of your complaints, like lack of brake feel. One thing I don't currently relate to is the car wanting to kill you. When I first got the car it had some 3 year old MPSS's that had definitely aged out and the car was sketchier. Now with fresh rubber, MPS4S, I never feel like grip is a problem. I would recommend checking the age and quality of your rubber, and perhaps alignment settings. If the rear is toe'd out, that could make the rear more likely to step out as well.
The fact it’s the one that scares you , is reason enough to keep it,and such an all round classic. Those with the funds will snaffle it in a heartbeat 😢
My thoughts are: If it doesn’t get driven very much then move it on. Lots of other car ownership experiences await and if the garage space is needed....
I think everyone should have a car in their collection that scares them. Unfortunately, with the current crop of sanitised supercars that kind of experience doesn’t seem to exist any longer, more’s the pity. Anyhow, it seems you made up your mind already Damian. Get it sold and move on, and bring us along for the ride. Thanks for the great content 😃
Tough one, we'd all want to keep it forever but you make complete sense. Just appreciate that whatever you sell it for, it'll be worth 50% more in a few years. That's what Harry Metcalfe said about selling his Zonda.
Great comment but unfortunately as a multiple V12 Lambo owner it’s not the best Lambo. The Miura SV, LP 400s, Diablo 6.0 and manual Murcielago are the sweet spots). Ferrari probably have a greater number of iconic cars so I’ll leave that to your expertise
Respect for making the difficult choices (like with F40) but with more electricity on the horizon, you have to keep the best sounding, visceral cars! Plus the value is only going one way... dont regret selling early like Harry did with his Zonda.
I just saw how quick the Hurracan Perf was on the Grand Tour test track - like a podium placing. Can't help thinking that the Perf and the 675LT will be the great cars of their generation. Chop the Balboni in!
Stunning ultra-rare example, love the Balboni Edition. Never heard about it being so edgy before, Gallardo I drove certainly wasn't (but it was a 4wd car) and it does look very stiffly sprung.
@@DrPittenstein It's rather simple. I own and have owned several exotic cars and car journos are basically the last bunch to tell you the truth. Jayemm did a pretty decent job so far with around 6 cars he reviewed having driven myself. Together with Damian you have now two honest RUclipsrs telling you it's not as good as everyone claims..
@@000GunterGabriel000 a dislike or distrust of car journalists does not make a youtuber any more honest or their opinions any more valid. I prefer to make my own opinions on cars in any event. The only qualification a youtuber needs is to like the sound of their own voice. It’s very hard to become a paid car journalist, now anyone who failed to do so can declare themselves an expert on YT now with no training whatsoever. RUclipsrs are no less susceptible to corruption and being disingenuous in my opinion as they have no professional standards or code of conduct to be guided by. I don’t trust many car journos, even fewer youtubers. If the Balboni was terrible we would have heard about it by now. Did it not occur to you or your favourite youtubers that the car might have had a fault, perhaps the geo was out? Suddenly all Gallardos are declared ‘crap’. Again no professional standards.
I would see if there's a brake specialist that could fix the brake issue,eg adjust the travel and the spongy feel?I think that would give you a lot more confidence with that beast.....what a car!!!!
Hard one, unless it means more Porsches! But it does sound as though the car will continue to be a sound and solid investment. Not all about money though as I'm sure you've said many times, and rightly. Best of luck, really.
You must keep this magnificent vehicle. If, for no other reason than the entertainment value that "look of abject terror" on your face provides to us when you are driving(?) it. Also, it's an analog icon.
It is a car with no equal. A supercar with a manual, that is narrow, agile, rich in driver experience, gorgeous, rare and more. I drove a Superleggera once and it was a milestone for me. I would compare your Balboni to the original Ruf Yellowbird. Both are small, ballistic, and automotive icons. My opinion.
That was the best episode you've ever made, i think. Loved it from start to finish. I think you've already made your mind up, and if it was me, it would be going. Once again, excellent work my friend. 👍
I am loving your style of reviews. Relexed and Honest! Thanks. As for the Lambo, move it on......there's better driving options out there. They are lovely but not practical. You're not 'attached' to it and you aren't relaxed driving it (you can see that your on edge and hear it in your voice), so why bother? IMO.
You mentioned selling it in the 2020 garage update so it's clearly been on your mind to do so. The car will only increase in value and it's the only V10 you have in the collection. Extend the garage? 😉
My mate has a Superleggera he may want to swap... Personally, keep the car. Get the brake pedal adjusted/braided lines to improve the feel. Seems like the balance between the controls isn’t quite right, so your enjoyment is impeded.
I seen some comments and just as I thought "not a good ideas to sell". It obvious with a man with over 10 cars, you will hardly drive them all and that keeps the miles low.
A lot of reasons to keep this car. Defo more reasons to keep it than sell it. Once the Elise arrives, the Lambo over night, will become a safer car to be in :-)
First the F40 and now this....

Exactly. This needs better tyres and a new alignment.
absolutely great show. I'm like you in that the lambos just don't get me going. But it is a very cool car.
Friday’s are becoming eagerly awaited - another great episode and fantastic content - how’s the 930 doing?
I would see if there's a brake specialist that could fix the brake issue,eg adjust the travel and the spongy feel?I think that would give you a lot more confidence with that beast.....what a car!!!!
A magnificent beast. And the car isn't too bad either.
You’d have to be mad to sell it...Thecarguys have entered the room.
I would keep it, it is the last of the modern era classic Lamborghini's.
Dat James Cameron though!
only if you are getting the STO lol
but gated manual such a gem as you already know.....
Tee up another ep with JayEmm already! 🤜
That steering wheel is fuckinh delightful
Hard one, unless it means more Porsches! But it does sound as though the car will continue to be a sound and solid investment. Not all about money though as I'm sure you've said many times, and rightly. Best of luck, really.
You must keep this magnificent vehicle.
If, for no other reason than the entertainment value that "look of abject terror" on your face provides to us when you are driving(?) it.
Also, it's an analog icon.
Great video!
My opinion.
Oooooh James Cameron I see 😉
Does it make your winky fizz? Keep it
That was the best episode you've ever made, i think. Loved it from start to finish. I think you've already made your mind up, and if it was me, it would be going. Once again, excellent work my friend. 👍
Please keep it.
Making way for a certain Maritine Blue 964 would be the perfect Tonic for seller remorse.....
I love the car. I say keep and expand garage. If you feel same next spring sell it.
My head says sell it...my heart says keep it. What a dilemma!
It’s a keeper, being rare and low mileage are two good reasons.
Personally I think the late Gallardo's look better than the Huracan.
IMO.
Cheers, dude - appreciate that
I'm not a fan of the modern stuff at all, but yours is a bit of a unicorn with a manual gearbox 😎
That car is a thing of beauty inside and out!! I’d keep it!!
Once the Elise arrives, the Lambo over night, will become a safer car to be in :-)
Did you talk with JM about the set up? He seemed to think its not quite right... and its a fabulous car if sorted
